We study the infinite-server system with batch arrivals ands different types of customers. With probabilityp i an arriving customer is of typei (i=1,..., s) and requires an exponentially distributed service time with parameter i (G GI /M 1 ...M s /). For theGI GI /M 1...M s / system it is shown that the binomial moments of thes-variate distribution of the number of type-i customers in the system at batch arrival epochs are determined by a recurrence relation and, in steady state, can be computed recursively. Furthermore, forG GI /M 1...M s /, relations between the distributions (and their binomial moments) of the system size vector at batch arrival and random epochs are given. Thus, earlier results by Takács [14], Gastwirth [9], Holman et al. [11], Brandt et al. [3] and Franken [6] are generalized.  相似文献

Consider aG/M/s/r queue, where the sequence{A n } n=– of nonnegative interarrival times is stationary and ergodic, and the service timesS n are i.i.d. exponentially distributed. (SinceA n =0 is possible for somen, batch arrivals are included.) In caser < , a uniquely determined stationary process of the number of customers in the system is constructed. This extends corresponding results by Loynes [12] and Brandt [4] forr= (with=ES0/EA0<s) and Franken et al. [9], Borovkov [2] forr=0 ors=. Furthermore, we give a proof of the relation min(i, s)¯p(i)=p(i–1), 1ir + s, between the time- and arrival-stationary probabilities¯p(i) andp(i), respectively. To deal with technical issues in noncommutative geometry for nonunital algebras, we introduce a useful class of algebras and their modules. These algebras and modules allow us to extend all of the smoothness results for spectral triples to the nonunital case. In addition, we show that smooth spectral triples are closed under the C functional calculus of self-adjoint elements. In the final section we show that our algebras allow the formulation of Poincaré Duality and that the algebras of smooth spectral triples are H-unital.  相似文献

This paper develops a diffusion-approximation model for a stableGI/G/s queue: The queue-length process in theGI/G/s queue is approximated by a diffusion process on the nonnegative real line. Some heuristics on the state space and the infinitesimal parameters of the approximating diffusion process are introduced to obtain an approximation formula for the steady-state queue-length distribution. It is shown that the formula is consistent with the exact results for theM/M/s andM/G/ queues. The accuracy of the approximations for principal congestion measures are numerically examined for some particular cases.  相似文献

We show that the set of C metrics in the two dimensional torus with no continuous invariant graphs of the geodesic flow is open and dense in the C 1 topology. The generic nonexistence of invariant graphs with rational rotation numbers was known in the C topology for metrics, and in general the generic nonexistence in the C topology of invariant graphs with Liouville rotation numbers is known for twist maps and Hamiltonian flows in the torus. The paper deals with a problem of developing an inverse-scattering based formalism for solving problems for the cubic nonlinear (or the modified Korteweg–de Vries (KdV)) equations: q t +q xxx +6q 2 q x =0, 0x<, –<t<,q t +q xxx –6q 2 q x =0, with the given initial and boundary conditions: q(x,0)=q(x),q(0,t)=p(t), p(t)L 1(–,). The relation between the solution of the initial-boundary value problem (1), (3), (4) and that of the KdV equation on the half-line is shown. The Cauchy problem for the cubic nonlinear equation: q t +q xxx –6|q|2 q x =0, 0x<, –<t<, with the given initial condition (3) is considered also. We consider infinite products in K-homology. We study these products in relation with operators on filtered Hilbert spaces, and infinite iterations of universal constructions on C*-algebras. In particular, infinite tensor power of extensions of pseudodifferential operators on R are considered. We extend anti-Wick pseudodifferential operators to infinite tensor products of spaces of the type L 2(R), and compare our infinite tensor power construction with an extension of pseudodifferential operators on R . We show that the K-theory connecting maps coincide. We propose a natural definition of ellipticity for anti-Wick operators on R, compute the corresponding index, and draw some consequences concerning these operators.  相似文献

The Calderón-Mitjagin theorem characterizes all interpolation spaces of the pair of Lebesgue spaces (L 1,L ) as the rearrangement-invariant spaces. The results of this paper show that the interpolation spaces ofH 1(R) andL (R) consist of elements whose nontangential maximal functions lie in rearrangement-invariant spaces.Communicated by Jaak Peetre.  相似文献

In this paper, the H 2/H problem is considered in a transfer-function setting, i.e., without a priori chosen bounds on the controller order. An optimization procedure is described which is based on a parametrization of all feasible descending directions stemming from a given point of the feasible transfer-function set. A search direction at each such point can be obtained on the basis of the solution of a convex finite-dimensional problem which can be converted into a LMI problem. Moving along the chosen direction in each step, the procedure in question generates a sequence of feasible points whose cost functional values converge to the optimal value of the H 2/H problem. Moreover, this sequence of feasible points is shown to converge in the sense of a weighted H 2 norm; and it does so to the solution of the H 2/H problem whenever such a solution exists.  相似文献

We derive integral representations for the joint steady state distribution of the number of occupied primary and secondary servers. In this paper, the new techniques and results concerning the structure theory of modules over noncommutative Iwasawa algebras are applied to arithmetic: we study Iwasawa modules over p-adic Lie extensions k of number fields k 'up to pseudo-isomorphism'. In particular, a close relationship is revealed between the Selmer group of Abelian varieties, the Galois group of the maximal Abelian unramified p-extension of k as well as the Galois group of the maximal Abelian p-extension unramified outside S where S is a certain finite setof places of k. Moreover, we determine the Galois module structure of local units and other modules arising from Galois cohomology.  相似文献

We derive Sobolev inequalities for Besov spaces B p,p (F), 0<<1, 1p< on d-sets F in R n , dn, from a metric property of the Bessel capacity on R n . We first extend Kaimanovitch's result on the equivalence of Sobolev and capacitary inequalites for contractive p-norms in a general setting allowing unbounded Lévy kernels. A simple part of the Jonsson–Wallin trace theorem for Besov spaces and some basic properties of Bessel and Besov capacities on R n are then utilized in getting the desired inequalities. When p=2, the Besov space being considered is a non-local regular Dirichlet space and gives rise to a jump type symmetric Markov process M over the d-set. The upper bound of the transition function of M and metric properties of M -polar sets are then exhibited.  相似文献

A finite-horizon H state-feedback control problem for singularly-perturbed linear time-dependent systems with a small state delay is considered. Two approaches to the asymptotic analysis and solution of this problem are proposed. In the first approach, an asymptotic solution of the singularly-perturbed system of functional-differential equations of Riccati type, associated with the original H problem by the sufficient conditions of the existence of its solution, is constructed. Based on this asymptotic solution, conditions for the existence of a solution of the original H problem, independent of the small parameter of singular perturbations, are derived. A simplified controller with parameter-independent gain matrices, solving the original H problem for all sufficiently small values of this parameter, is obtained. In the second approach, the original H problem is decomposed into two lower-dimensional parameter-independent H subproblems, the reduced-order (slow) and the boundary-layer (fast) subproblems; controllers solving these subproblems are constructed. Based on these controllers, a composite controller is derived, which solves the original H problem for all sufficiently small values of the singular perturbation parameter.
