This paper is concerned with linear nonautonomous systems of ordinary differential equations. A criterion for exponential separation in terms of exponential dichotomy is given. As corollaries we obtain the roughness theorem for exponential separation and the new result that an upper triangular system on a half-line is exponentially separated if and only if the system corresponding to its diagonal is. A minimal decomposition into exponentially separated subspaces is defined. It turns out that it is, in general, finer than the Sacker-Sell spectral decomposition but that the two decompositions coincide for almost periodic systems.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce a concept of exponential dichotomy for linear skew-product semiflows (LSPS) in infinite dimensional Banach spaces, which is an extension of the classical concept of exponential dichotomy for time dependent linear differential equations in Banach spaces. We prove that the concept of exponential dichotomy used by Sacker-Sell and Magalhães in recent years is stronger than this one, but they are equivalent under suitable conditions. Using this concept we where able to find a formula for all the bounded negative continuations. After that, we characterize the stable and unstable subbundles in terms of the boundedness of the corresponding projector along (forward/backward) the LSPS and in terms of the exponential decay of the semiflow. The linear theory presented here provides a foundation for studying the nonlinear theory. Also, this concept can be used to study the existence of exponential dichotomy and the roughness property for LSPS.

This paper is concerned with a class of neutral‐type BAM neural networks with distributed leakage delays. By applying the exponential dichotomy of linear differential equations, Lyapunov functional method and contraction mapping principle, we establish some sufficient conditions which ensure the existence and exponential stability of almost periodic solutions for such BAM neural networks. An example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical findings. The results obtained in this article are completely new and complement the previously known studies. We characterize the exponential dichotomy of non-autonomous partial functional differential equations by means of a spectral condition extending known characteristic equations for the autonomous or time-periodic case. From this we deduce robustness results. We further study the almost periodicity of solutions to the inhomogeneous equation. Our approach is based on the spectral theory of evolution semigroups.  相似文献

In this paper the problem of exponential stability of the zero state equilibrium of a discrete-time time-varying linear equation described by a sequence of linear positive operators acting on an ordered finite dimensional Hilbert space is investigated. The class of linear equations considered in this paper contains as particular cases linear equations described by Lyapunov operators or symmetric Stein operators as well as nonsymmetric Stein operators. Such equations occur in connection with the problem of mean square exponential stability for a class of difference stochastic equations affected by independent random perturbations and Markovian jumping as well us in connection with some iterative procedures which allow us to compute global solutions of discrete time generalized symmetric or nonsymmetric Riccati equations. The exponential stability is characterized in terms of the existence of some globally defined and bounded solutions of some suitable backward affine equations (inequalities) or forward affine equations (inequalities).  相似文献

For nonautonomous linear equations x′ = A(t)x, we give a complete characterization of the existence of exponential behavior in terms of Lyapunov functions. In particular, we obtain an inverse theorem giving explicitly Lyapunov functions for each exponential dichotomy. The main novelty of our work is that we consider a very general type of nonuniform exponential dichotomy. This includes for example uniform exponential dichotomies, nonuniform exponential dichotomies and polynomial dichotomies. We also consider the case of different growth rates for the uniform and the nonuniform parts of the dichotomy. As an application of our work, we establish in a very direct manner the robustness of nonuniform exponential dichotomies under sufficiently small linear perturbations.  相似文献

In this paper, we deal with a class of BAM neural networks with distributed leakage delays on time scales. In this paper, we study periodic linear systems on periodic time scales which include not only discrete and continuous dynamical systems but also systems with a mixture of discrete and continuous parts (e.g. hybrid dynamical systems). We develop a comprehensive Floquet theory including Lyapunov transformations and their various stability preserving properties, a unified Floquet theorem which establishes a canonical Floquet decomposition on time scales in terms of the generalized exponential function, and use these results to study homogeneous as well as nonhomogeneous periodic problems. Furthermore, we explore the connection between Floquet multipliers and Floquet exponents via monodromy operators in this general setting and establish a spectral mapping theorem on time scales. Finally, we show this unified Floquet theory has the desirable property that stability characteristics of the original system can be determined via placement of an associated (but time varying) system?s poles in the complex plane. We include several examples to show the utility of this theory.  相似文献

The importance of Lyapunov functions is well known. In the general setting of nonautonomous linear delay equations v=L(t)vt, we show how to characterize completely the existence of a nonuniform exponential contraction or of a nonuniform exponential dichotomy in terms of Lyapunov functions. This includes uniform exponential behavior as a very special case, and it provides an alternative (usually simpler and particularly more direct) approach to verify the existence of exponential behavior or to obtain the robustness of the dynamics under sufficiently small perturbations.  相似文献

For delay difference equations with infinite delay we consider the notion of nonuniform exponential dichotomy. This includes the notion of uniform exponential dichotomy as a very special case. Our main aim is to establish a stable manifold theorem under sufficiently small nonlinear perturbations. We also establish the robustness of nonuniform exponential dichotomies under sufficiently small linear perturbations. Finally, we characterize the nonuniform exponential dichotomies in terms of strict Lyapunov sequences. In many ways, exponential dichotomies are an appropriate hyperbolicity notion for nonautonomous linear differential or difference equations. The corresponding dichotomy spectrum generalizes the classical set of eigenvalues or Floquet multipliers and is therefore of eminent importance in a stability theory for explicitly time-dependent systems, as well as to establish a geometric theory of nonautonomous problems with ingredients like invariant manifolds and normal forms, or to deduce continuation and bifurcation techniques.

In this note, we derive some invariance and perturbation properties of the dichotomy spectrum for nonautonomous linear difference equations in Banach spaces. They easily follow from the observation that the dichotomy spectrum is strongly related to a weighted shift operator on an ambient sequence space.  相似文献

The method presented in [4] for the solution of linear difference equations in a single variable is extended to some equations in two variables. Every linear combination of a given functionf and of its partial differences can be obtained by the discrete convolution product off by a suitable functionl (which depends on the considered linear combination), and we want to solve in a convolutional form difference equations in the whole plane. However, the convolution of two functions may not be possible if their supports contain half straight lines with opposite directions. To avoid this, we take four sets of functions corresponding to the quadrants such thatl belong to every set, every set endowed with the convolution and with the usual addition is a ring, and there is an inverse ofl in each of the four rings. This is attained by taking, for each ring, a set of functions whose supports belong to suitable cones. After choosing such rings, a very natural initial-value first-order Cauchy Problem (in partial differences) is reduced to a convolutional form. This is done either by a direct method or by introducing the forward difference functions i f(i=1,2) in a general way depending on the shape of the support off so that Laplace-like formulas with initial and final values) hold. Applications to difference equations in the whole plane and to partial differential problems are made.  相似文献

For the class of dynamical systems considered in the paper, we use the Lyapunov direct method to prove a sufficient criterion for the exponential dichotomy in the L 2-norm. We derive equations of the subspaces realizing the dichotomy in the phase space coordinate system associated with the indefinite Hermitian form used to state the dichotomy criterion.  相似文献

We characterize the exponential dichotomy of difference equations with infinite delay. We apply the results to study the robustness of exponential dichotomy. This kind of dichotomy gives us relevant information about boundedness of solutions for several perturbed quasi linear systems with infinite delay.
