We present a next-to-leading order calculation for the virtual photoproduction of one and two jets inep collisions. Soft and collinear singularities are extracted using the phase space slicing method. The collinear photon initial state singularity depends logarithmically on the mass of the virtual photon and is absorbed into the virtual photon structure function. An $\overline {MS} $ factorization scheme is defined similarly to the real photon case. Numerical results are presented for HERA conditions using the Snowmass jet definition for inclusive single jet and dijet cross sections. We study the dependence of these cross sections on the transverse energies and rapidities of the jets. Finally, we compare the ratio of the experimentally defined resolved and direct cross sections with recent ZEUS data as a function of the photon virtualityP 2.  相似文献

The influence of the cone algorithm parameters (E cut, E seed, R) on efficiency and characteristics of reconstructed jets in p-p collisions at the energy $\sqrt s $ = 200 GeV is studied. Event generation was carried out using the Monte Carlo code PYTHIA. The fraction of dijet event production as a function of transverse momentum of the hard process $\hat p_ \bot $ for different algorithm parameters is studied. The dependence of energy and parton direction reconstruction accuracy for dijet events and two leading jets in N-jet (N Jet ≥ 2) events on the algorithm parameters is found. The results of jet modeling are compared with predictions obtained in the framework of z-scaling and experimental data obtained at RHIC. It is proved that the slope parameter of the scaling function is independent of the algorithm parameters in the transverse jet energy range E T Jet = 25–60 GeV. It is shown that in the region E T Jet < 25 GeV, strong dependence of invariant cross sections and the slope of the scaling function on the algorithm parameters is observed, and this dependence is enhanced with decreasing E T Jet .  相似文献

The parity-violating Lagrangian of the weak nucleon-nucleon (NN) interaction in the pionless effective field theory (EFT( \({/\!\!\!\pi}\) )) approach contains five independent unknown low-energy coupling constants (LECs). The photon asymmetry with respect to neutron polarization in \({np\rightarrow d\gamma A_\gamma^{np}}\) , the circular polarization of outgoing photon in \({np\rightarrow d\gamma P_\gamma^{np}}\) , the neutron spin rotation in hydrogen \({\frac{1}{\rho}\frac{d\phi^{np}}{dl}}\) , the neutron spin rotation in deuterium \({\frac{1}{\rho}\frac{d\phi^{nd}}{dl}}\) and the circular polarization of γ-emission in \({nd\rightarrow}\) 3 \({P^{nd}_\gamma}\) are the parity-violating observables which have been recently calculated in terms of parity-violating LECs in the EFT( \({/\!\!\!\pi}\) ) framework. We obtain the LECs by matching the parity-violating observables to the Desplanques, Donoghue, and Holstein (DDH) best value estimates. Then, we evaluate photon asymmetry with respect to the neutron polarization \({a^{nd}_\gamma}\) and the photon asymmetry in relation to deuteron polarization \({A^{nd}_\gamma}\) in \({nd\rightarrow}\) 3 process. We finally compare our EFT( \({/\!\!\!\pi}\) ) photon asymmetries results with the experimental values and the previous calculations based on the DDH model.  相似文献

We present cross sections for heavy flavour production through photon gluon fusion in electron proton collisions at HERA energy. The electron photon vertex is taken into account explicitly, and theQ 2 of the exchanged photon ranges from nearly zero (almost real photon) to the kinematically allowed maximum. In our approach the scale is set by the mass of the produced quarks. Our formalism is also applicable to the production of light quarks as long as the invariant mass of the pair is sufficiently high, so we also give cross sections for \(u\bar u,d\bar d\) and \(s\bar s\) production.  相似文献

We perform aB \(\bar B\) coupled channel analysis in the upsilon region in order to predict \(B^0 - \bar B^0 \) mixing as a function of the incidente + e ? energy. We determine the parameters of the QCD-motivated quarkonium potential, and of the quark-pair creation model used to describe Υ→B \(\bar B\) decays, by fitting to the observed upsilon mass spectrum. We show the contributions of the individual decay channels and study the sensitivity of the predictions to theB meson masses. We conclude that the rate forB 0 B 0 (or \(\bar B^0 \bar B^0 \) ) events should be comparable at Υ(5S) to that at Υ(4S).  相似文献

Both CDF and DØ report a forward–backward asymmetry in $t\bar{t}$ production that is above the standard model prediction. We review new physics models that can give a large forward backward asymmetry in $t\bar{t}$ production at the Tevatron and the constraints these models face from searches for dijet resonances and contact interactions, from flavor physics and the $t\bar{t}$ cross section. Expected signals at the LHC are also reviewed.  相似文献

We calculateO s ) corrections to largep T double photon production in hadronic collisions. We find that these corrections to the basic \(q\bar q \to \gamma \gamma \) subprocess are important, preventing to describe double photon production on the basis of the leading logarithm approximation only. We give a phenomenological discussion of the results obtained at SPS, ISR and \(Sp\bar pS\) energies. In particular, we investigate how the effect of the intrinsic parton <K T> may be disentangled from the perturbative contribution. We also calculate the aplanarity distribution characteristic of 3 jet events.  相似文献

We study means of identifying top quarks of mass in the range 70–120 GeV at the CERN and FNAL \(\bar pp\) colliders. We show that “W+dijet” production presents a serious background to the conventional “isolated electron+dijet” signature of top. We study an improved signature, calculate the expected event rates, and discuss the determination of the mass of the top quark.  相似文献

The nature of some baryonic resonances is still an unresolved issue. The case of the N *(1535) is particularly interesting in this respect due to the nearby $ \eta$ N threshold and interference with the N *(1650) . The N *(1535) has been described as a threshold effect, as a genuine 3-quark resonance, or as dynamically generated from the interaction of the octet of baryons with the octet of mesons. In the scheme of dynamical generation, predictions for the interaction of the N *(1535) with the photon can be made. In this study, we simultaneously analyze the role of the N *(1535) in the $ \pi$ N $ \rightarrow$ $ \pi$ N and $ \gamma$ N $ \rightarrow$ $ \pi$ N reactions and compare to the respective amplitudes from partial-wave analyses. This test is very sensitive to the meson-baryon components of the N *(1535) .  相似文献

The possibility of measuring the proton electromagnetic form factors in the time-like region at FAIR with the $ \overline{{P}}$ ANDA detector is discussed. Detailed simulations on signal efficiency for the annihilation of $ \bar{{p}}$ + p into a lepton pair as well as for the most important background channels have been performed. It is shown that precise measurements of the differential cross-section of the reaction $ \bar{{p}}$ + p $ \rightarrow$ e - + e + can be obtained in a wide kinematical range. The determination of the ratio R of the moduli of the electric and magnetic proton form factors will be possible up to a value of momentum transfer squared of q 2 ? 14 (GeV/c)^2 with absolute precision from 0.01 to 0.5 (for R ~ 1 . The total $ \bar{{p}}$ + p $ \rightarrow$ e - + e + cross-section will be measured up to q 2 ? 28 (GeV/c)^2. The results obtained from simulated events are compared to the existing data. Sensitivity to the two-photon exchange mechanism is also investigated.  相似文献

We predict the dependence on energy of photo (electro) production processes: γ(γ *)+pV+X with large rapidity gap at small x and large momentum ?t transferred to V in pQCD. Here V is a heavy quarkonium (J/ψ,?) or longitudinally polarized light vector meson (in the electroproduction processes), etc. In the kinematics of HERA we calculate the dependence on energy of cross sections of these processes as the function of momentum transfer t, photon virtuality Q 2 and/or quarkonium mass. In the kinematical region $Q_{0}^{2}\le -t\ll Q^{2}+M^{2}_{V}$ the nontrivial energy dependence of the cross section for the vector meson production due to the photon scattering off a parton follows within QCD from the summing of the double logarithmic terms. In the second regime $-t\ge Q^{2}+M^{2}_{V}$ within DGLAP approximation in all orders of perturbation theory the $q\bar{q}$ -parton elastic cross section is energy independent. We show that the correct account of the double logarithmic terms and of the gluon radiation including kinematical constraints removes the disagreement between pQCD calculations and recent HERA experimental data. The explicit formula for the dependence of the differential cross section $\frac{d^{2}\sigma}{dt\,dx_{J}}$ of these processes on $s_{\gamma^{*}N}$ is obtained. We show that perturbative Pomeron type behavior may reveal itself only at energies significantly larger than those available at HERA. In addition we evaluate the energy dependence of DVCS processes.  相似文献

The contribution of fermion and scalar condensates, \(\left\langle {\bar \psi \psi } \right\rangle \) and 〈φ + φ〉 to their propagators is calculated exactly in their masses. The ensuing contributions to the photon propagator and the pseudoscalar correlation function are then evaluated.  相似文献

We present data on photon production in non single-diffractivep \(\bar p\) -collisions at c.m. energies of 200 and 900 GeV. Besides the general properties of photon production, i.e. pseudorapidity distribution and average multiplicity, we also investigate photon-charged two-particle pseudorapidity and multiplicity correlations. We find for the average number of photons in non single-diffractivep \(\bar p\) -collisions 22.2±1.4±2.0 at 200 GeV and 41.4±2.1±3.5 at 900 GeV, where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. The analysis of photon-charged particle multiplicity correlations reveals strong positive correlations between the average number of photons and the number of simultaneously produced charged particles, as expected from FNAL and ISR studies and from our result at 546 GeV. We obtain for the correlation slope 0.95±0.08±0.11 at 200 GeV and 1.09±0.09±0.13 at 900 GeV (first error is statistical and the second systematic). The investigation of photon-charged two-particle pseudorapidity correlations shows that these correlations are of short range and compatible with the observed charged two-particle pseudorapidity correlations. These correlations and the results for the average number of photons as a function of the produced number of charged particles favour the conclusion that photon sources other than π0 s contribute significantly to the observed photon yield in non single-diffractivep \(\bar p\) -collisions. For example, if all photons are assumed to come from π0 s and η mesons, a η/π0 ratio of about 20% is inferred.  相似文献

A precise measurement of the Dalitz plot parameter, $ \alpha$ , for the $ \eta$ → 3 $ \pi^{0}_{}$ decay is presented. The experiment was performed with the Crystal Ball and TAPS large-acceptance photon detectors at the tagged photon beam facility of the MAMI-B electron accelerator in Mainz. High statistics of 1.8 · 106 $ \eta$ → 3 $ \pi^{0}_{}$ events were obtained, giving the result $ \alpha$ = - 0.032±0.002stat±0.002syst .  相似文献

The rare decay K L 0 → π0ν $ \tilde v $ branching ratio measurement is one of the clearest Standard Model test. Calculations based on the SM predict Br(K L 0 → π0ν $ \tilde v $ ) ≈ 2.8 × 10?11, but the most accurate experimental value Br(K L 0 → π0ν $ \tilde v $ ) < 6.7 × 10?8 (90% C.L.). We present design of a new experimental setup KLOD (U-70 accelerator, IHEP, Protvino) for K L 0 → π0ν $ \tilde v $ branching ratio measurement. Sensitivity of the KLOD experiment will be enough for registration of 2.4 events K L 0 → π0ν $ \tilde v $ for every 10 days of the data taking (according to SM predictions).  相似文献

A method is described for the inclusion ofqqγ branchings within a QCD parton showering event generator. Special attention is paid to the ‘back-to-back’ region ine + e ? events, where a very hard photon recoils from a nearly collinear quark-antiquark pair. The resulting algorithm is also applied to back-to-backq \(\bar q\) g configurations. Results for theq \(\bar q\) γ cross-section are compared against various theoretical predictions, models and experimental data.  相似文献

We determine the radiative decay amplitudes for the decay into D* and $ \bar{{D}}$ $ \gamma$ , or D * s and $ \bar{{D}}_{s}^{}$ $ \gamma$ of some of the charmonium-like states classified as X , Y , Z resonances, plus some other hidden charm states which are dynamically generated from the interaction of vector mesons with charm. The mass distributions as a function of the $ \bar{{D}}$ $ \gamma$ or $ \bar{{D}}_{s}^{}$ $ \gamma$ invariant mass show a peculiar behavior as a consequence of the D * $ \bar{{D}}^{*}_{}$ nature of these states. The experimental search of these magnitudes can shed light on the nature of these states.  相似文献

The studies of the week boson production in electron-positron scattering are reviewed. At the lowest order of the Weinberg-Salam gauge theory, the cross sections for the various processes of the single weak boson production are computed by paying an attention on the gauge invariance at the high energies, or by calculating all the relevant Feynman diagrams, some of which have been neglected in the studies so far. A formulation is presented to compute the cross sections for the various processes,e + e ?WUD, whereW is the weak boson,WUD stands for \(W^ + \bar U D\) , or \(W^ - U \bar D\) , andU(D) represents the up (down) state of theSU(2) L doublet. Also the upper bound of the contributions from the single weak boson production via the two photon process is estimated by using the real photon approximation.  相似文献

Considering the signals detected at 4.03 and 4.16 GeV as radial excitations of charmonium, we study their relative decay rates intoD \(\bar D\) ,D \(\bar D^* \) ,D * \(\bar D\) ,D * \(\bar D^* \) . We point out that one can understand these two peaks as ac \(\bar c\) 3S?2D wave state system with a large mixing angle in a Coulomb+linear interquark potential. We also examine the possibility that these two signals are respectively 3S and 4S wave excitations by studying a logarithmic charmonium potential model. We show that both these interpretations lead to drastically different predictions for the Ψ (4.16) decay rates (eitherD \(\bar D^* \) +D * \(\bar D\) orD \(\bar D\) mode is strongly suppressed) which would be very instructive to test experimentally.  相似文献
