The interaction of 5-aryl-4-quinoxaline-2,3-dihydro-2,3-furandiones with mesitylamine and methyl(phenyl) hydrazine results in the formation of 1-substituted 5-aryl-4-quinoxalinyl-2,3-dihydro-2,3-pyrrolediones. 1-Benzyl-4-benzoyl-5-phenyl-2,3-dihydro-2,3-pyrroledione reacts with ketene diethylacetal, forming 1-benzyl-4-benzoyl-3-hydroxy-5-phenyl-5-ethoxycarbonylmethyl-2,5-dihydro-2-pyrrolone, whose crystal and molecular structure was studied by XRD.     

Interaction of 4,5-diphenyl-2,3-dihydro-2,3-pyrroledione with ethoxycarbonylmethylenetriphenylphosphorane: synthesis and crystal structure of 4,5-diphenyl-Z-2-ethoxycarbonylmethylene-2,3-dihydro-3-pyrrolone

1-Unsubstituted 4,5-diphenyl-2,3-dihydro-2,3-pyrroledione interacts with ethoxycarbonyl-methylenetriphenylphosphorane regioselectively to give 4,5-diphenyl-Z-2-ethoxycarbonyl-methylene-2,3-dihydro-3-pyrrolone. Investigations of 2,3′-biquinolyl. 8. Reduction of 1-alkyl-3-(2-quinolyl)-quinolinium halides with sodium borohydride

Reduction of 1-alkyl-3-(2-quinolyl)quinolinium halides with sodium borohydride leads to 1-alkyl-1,2-dihydro-2,3-biquinolyls which, except for the ethoxycarbonyl derivative, undergo rearrangement to 1-alkyl-1,4-dihydro-2,3-biquinolyls. 4-Isopropoxalyl-1,5-diphenyl-2,3-dihydro-2,3-pyrroledione reacts with thiosemicarbazide to form (3aS*)(4R*)(6aR*)-4,6a-dihydroxy-4-isopropoxycarbonyl-1-thiocarbamoyl-3,5-diphenyl-1,3a,4,5,6,6a-hexahydropyrrolo[3,4-d]pyrazol-6-one. The molecular and crystal structure of the latter was studied by single crystal X-ray diffraction.     

Conformations, Energy and Spectral Characteristics of 2,3-Trimethylene- and 2,3-Pentamethylene-3,4-dihydro-4-quinazolinones

Quantum-chemical calculations and IR spectroscopy were used to study the conformations as well as the energy and spectral characteristics of 2,3-trimethylene- and 2,3-pentamethylene-3,4-dihydro-4-quinazolinones. The shift of -electron density from the heterocyclic system to the carbonyl group and, thus, the proton affinity of the oxygen atom of this group increase with expansion of the bond angle at the nitrogen atom in going from a five-membered to seven-membered ring.     

A novel perfluoromonomer: perfluoro-2,3-dihydro-1,4-benzodioxin

A novel perfluoromonomer, perfluoro-2,3-dihydro-1,4-benzodioxin (FDB), was synthesized. The homopolymerization and copolymerizations of FDB were investigated. The structure and physical properties of those polymers were characterized.
