In this paper we present a unified theory for studying the so-called Krall-type discrete orthogonal polynomials. In particular, the three-term recurrence relation, lowering and raising operators as well as the second order linear difference equation that the sequences of monic orthogonal polynomials satisfy are established. Some relevant examples of q-Krall polynomials are considered in detail.  相似文献

We derive raising and lowering operators for orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle and find second order differential and q-difference equations for these polynomials. A general functional equation is found which allows one to relate the zeros of the orthogonal polynomials to the stationary values of an explicit quasi-energy and implies recurrences on the orthogonal polynomial coefficients. We also evaluate the discriminants and quantized discriminants of polynomials orthogonal on the unit circle.  相似文献

The kernel function of Cauchy type for type BC is defined as a solution of linear q-difference equations. In this paper, we show that this kernel function intertwines the commuting family of van Diejen’s q-difference operators. This result gives rise to a transformation formula for certain multiple basic hypergeometric series of type BC. We also construct a new infinite family of commuting q-difference operators for which the Koornwinder polynomials are joint eigenfunctions.  相似文献

For discrete multiple orthogonal polynomials such as the multiple Charlier polynomials, the multiple Meixner polynomials, and the multiple Hahn polynomials, we first find a lowering operator and then give a (r+1)th order difference equation by combining the lowering operator with the raising operator. As a corollary, explicit third order difference equations for discrete multiple orthogonal polynomials are given, which was already proved by Van Assche for the multiple Charlier polynomials and the multiple Meixner polynomials.  相似文献

An explicit structure relation for Askey–Wilson polynomials is given. This involves a divided q-difference operator which is skew symmetric with respect to the Askey–Wilson inner product and which sends polynomials of degree n   to polynomials of degree n+1n+1. By specialization of parameters and by taking limits, similar structure relations, as well as lowering and raising relations, can be obtained for other families in the q-Askey scheme and the Askey scheme. This is explicitly discussed for Jacobi polynomials, continuous q-Jacobi polynomials, continuous q-ultraspherical polynomials, and for big q-Jacobi polynomials. An already known structure relation for this last family can be obtained from the new structure relation by using the three-term recurrence relation and the second order q-difference formula. The results are also put in the framework of a more general theory. Their relationship with earlier work by Zhedanov and Bangerezako is discussed. There is also a connection with the string equation in discrete matrix models and with the Sklyanin algebra.  相似文献

In this paper, extensions of several relations linking differences of bivariate discrete orthogonal polynomials and polynomials themselves are given, by using an appropriate vector–matrix notation. Three-term recurrence relations are presented for the partial differences of the monic polynomial solutions of admissible second order partial difference equation of hypergeometric type. Structure relations, difference representations as well as lowering and raising operators are obtained. Finally, expressions for all matrix coefficients appearing in these finite-type relations are explicitly presented for a finite set of Hahn and Kravchuk orthogonal polynomials.  相似文献

We expand the Chebyshev polynomials and some of its linear combination in linear combinations of the q-Hermite, the Rogers (q-utraspherical) and the Al-Salam-Chihara polynomials and vice versa. We use these expansions to obtain expansions of some densities, including q-Normal and some related to it, in infinite series constructed of the products of the other density times polynomials orthogonal to it, allowing deeper analysis and discovering new properties. On the way we find an easy proof of expansion of the Poisson-Mehler kernel as well as its reciprocal. We also formulate simple rule relating one set of orthogonal polynomials to the other given the properties of the ratio of the respective densities of measures orthogonalizing these polynomials sets.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce linear graininess (LG) time scales. We further study orthogonal polynomials (OPs) with the weight function supported on LG time scales and derive the raising and lowering ladder operators by using the time scales calculus. We also derive a second order dynamic equation satisfied by these polynomials. The notion of an LG time scale encompasses the cases of the reals, the h-equidistant grid, the q-grid and, more general, a mixed (q, h)-grid. This allows a unified treatment of the ladder operators theory for classical OPs on these time scales. Moreover we will explain, why exclusively LG time scales provide the right framework for general OP theory.  相似文献

A four-parameter family of orthogonal polynomials in two discrete variables is defined for a weight function of basic hypergeometric type. The polynomials, which are expressed in terms of univariate big q-Jacobi polynomials, form an extension of Dunkl’s bivariate (little) q-Jacobi polynomials [C.F. Dunkl, Orthogonal polynomials in two variables of q-Hahn and q-Jacobi type, SIAM J. Algebr. Discrete Methods 1 (1980) 137-151]. We prove orthogonality property of the new polynomials, and show that they satisfy a three-term relation in a vector-matrix notation, as well as a second-order partial q-difference equation.  相似文献

In this paper, we give a characterization of some classical q-orthogonal polynomials in terms of a difference property of the associated Stieltjes function, i.e. this function solves a first-order non-homogeneous q-difference equation. The solutions of the aforementioned q-difference equation (given in terms of hypergeometric series) for some canonical cases, namely, q-Charlier, q-Kravchuk, q-Meixner and q-Hahn, are worked out.  相似文献

In this paper, we present an explicit realization of q-deformed Calogero-Vasiliev algebra whose generators are first-order q-difference operators related to the generalized discrete q-Hermite I polynomials recently introduced in [14]. Furthermore, we construct the wave functions and we determine the q-coherent states.  相似文献

We consider the general theory of the modifications of quasi-definite linear functionals by adding discrete measures. We analyze the existence of the corresponding orthogonal polynomial sequences with respect to such linear functionals. The three-term recurrence relation, lowering and raising operators as well as the second order linear differential equation that the sequences of monic orthogonal polynomials satisfy when the linear functional is semiclassical are also established. A relevant example is considered in details.  相似文献

Matrix-valued spherical functions related to the quantum symmetric pair for the quantum analogue of \((\mathrm{SU}(2) \times \mathrm{SU}(2), \mathrm{diag})\) are introduced and studied in detail. The quantum symmetric pair is given in terms of a quantised universal enveloping algebra with a coideal subalgebra. The matrix-valued spherical functions give rise to matrix-valued orthogonal polynomials, which are matrix-valued analogues of a subfamily of Askey–Wilson polynomials. For these matrix-valued orthogonal polynomials, a number of properties are derived using this quantum group interpretation: the orthogonality relations from the Schur orthogonality relations, the three-term recurrence relation and the structure of the weight matrix in terms of Chebyshev polynomials from tensor product decompositions, and the matrix-valued Askey–Wilson type q-difference operators from the action of the Casimir elements. A more analytic study of the weight gives an explicit LDU-decomposition in terms of continuous q-ultraspherical polynomials. The LDU-decomposition gives the possibility to find explicit expressions of the matrix entries of the matrix-valued orthogonal polynomials in terms of continuous q-ultraspherical polynomials and q-Racah polynomials.  相似文献

In this paper we show the equivalence between Goldman-Rota q-binomial identity and its inverse. We may specialize the value of the parameters in the generating functions of Rogers-Szegö polynomials to obtain some classical results such as Euler identities and the relation between classical and homogeneous Rogers-Szegö polynomials. We give a new formula for the homogeneous Rogers-Szegö polynomials hn(x,y|q). We introduce a q-difference operator θxy on functions in two variables which turn out to be suitable for dealing with the homogeneous form of the q-binomial identity. By using this operator, we got the identity obtained by Chen et al. [W.Y.C. Chen, A.M. Fu, B. Zhang, The homogeneous q-difference operator, Advances in Applied Mathematics 31 (2003) 659-668, Eq. (2.10)] which they used it to derive many important identities. We also obtain the q-Leibniz formula for this operator. Finally, we introduce a new polynomials sn(x,y;b|q) and derive their generating function by using the new homogeneous q-shift operator L(bθxy).  相似文献

We develop a factorization method for q-Racah polynomials. It is inspired by the approach to q-Hahn polynomials based on the q-Johnson scheme, but we do not use association scheme theory nor Gel'fand pairs but only manipulation of q-difference operators.  相似文献

We establish the Plancherel–Rotach-type asymptotics around the largest zero (the soft edge asymptotics) for some classes of polynomials satisfying three-term recurrence relations with exponentially increasing coefficients. As special cases, our results include this type of asymptotics for q ?1-Hermite polynomials of Askey, Ismail, and Masson; q-Laguerre polynomials; and the Stieltjes–Wigert polynomials. We also introduce a one-parameter family of solutions to the q-difference equation of the Ramanujan function.  相似文献
