We present quantum holonomy theory, which is a non‐perturbative theory of quantum gravity coupled to fermionic degrees of freedom. The theory is based on a ‐algebra that involves holonomy‐diffeo‐morphisms on a 3‐dimensional manifold and which encodes the canonical commutation relations of canonical quantum gravity formulated in terms of Ashtekar variables. Employing a Dirac type operator on the configuration space of Ashtekar connections we obtain a semi‐classical state and a kinematical Hilbert space via its GNS construction. We use the Dirac type operator, which provides a metric structure over the space of Ashtekar connections, to define a scalar curvature operator, from which we obtain a candidate for a Hamilton operator. We show that the classical Hamilton constraint of general relativity emerges from this in a semi‐classical limit and we then compute the operator constraint algebra. Also, we find states in the kinematical Hilbert space on which the expectation value of the Dirac type operator gives the Dirac Hamiltonian in a semi‐classical limit and thus provides a connection to fermionic quantum field theory. Finally, an almost‐commutative algebra emerges from the holonomy‐diffeomorphism algebra in the same limit.  相似文献

We discuss quantum correlations in systems of indistinguishable particles in relation to entanglement in composite quantum systems consisting of well separated subsystems. Our studies are motivated by recent experiments and theoretical investigations on quantum dots and neutral atoms in microtraps as tools for quantum information processing. We present analogies between distinguishable particles, bosons, and fermions in low-dimensional Hilbert spaces. We introduce the notion of Slater rank for pure states of pairs of fermions and bosons in analogy to the Schmidt rank for pairs of distinguishable particles. This concept is generalized to mixed states and provides a correlation measure for indistinguishable particles. Then we generalize these notions to pure fermionic and bosonic states in higher-dimensional Hilbert spaces and also to the multi-particle case. We review the results on quantum correlations in mixed fermionic states and discuss the concept of fermionic Slater witnesses. Then the theory of quantum correlations in mixed bosonic states and of bosonic Slater witnesses is formulated. In both cases we provide methods of constructing optimal Slater witnesses that detect the degree of quantum correlations in mixed fermionic and bosonic states.  相似文献

The classical Kähler equation for an inhomogeneous differential form is analysed in some detail with respect to the physical properties of its Minkowski space solutions. Although the components of the field contain only integer representations of the Lorentz group for a physical interpretation of the quantum theory, we impose fermionic commutators. The electromagnetic interactions are identical to those of a Dirac spinor field with an extra fourfold degeneracy. Possibilities for the interpretation of the extra degrees of freedom are discussed.  相似文献

By using the method of quantum statistics, we derive directly the partition functions of bosonic and fermionic field in the black hole space-time with different temperatures on horizon surface. The statistical entropy of the black hole is obtained by an improved brick-wall method. When we choose a proper parameter in our results, we can obtain that the entropy of the black hole is proportional to the area of horizon. In our result, there do not exist any neglected term or divergent logarithmic term as given in the original brick-wall method. We have avoided the difficulty in solving the wave equation of the scalar and Dirac field. A simple and direct way of studying entropy of the black hole is given.  相似文献

Superhoneycomb lattice is an edge‐centered honeycomb lattice that represents a hybrid fermionic and bosonic system. It contains pseudospin‐1/2 and pseudospin‐1 Dirac cones, as well as a flat band in its band structure. In this paper, we cut the superhoneycomb lattice along short‐bearded boundaries and obtain the corresponding band structure. The states very close to the Dirac points represent approximate Dirac cone states that can be used to observe conical diffraction during light propagation in the lattice. In comparison with the previous literature, this research is carried out using the continuous model, which brings new results and is simple, direct, accurate, and computationally efficient.  相似文献

By using the method of quantum statistics, we derive directly the partition functions of bosonic and fermionic field in the d-dimensional Horowitz-Strominger black hole. The statistical entropy of black hole is obtained by an improved brick—wall method. When we choose proper parameter in our results, we can obtain that the entropy of the black hole is proportional to the area of the horizon. In our result, there don't exist the left out term and divergent logarithmic term given in the original brick—wall method. We avoid the difficulty in solving the wave equation of scalar and Dirac field. And we offer a simple and direct way of studying entropy of the higher-dimensional complicated black hole.  相似文献

We demonstrate that Dirac fermions self-interacting or coupled to dynamic scalar fields can emerge in the low energy sector of designed bosonic and fermionic cold atom systems. We illustrate this with two examples defined in two spacetime dimensions. The first one is the self-interacting Thirring model. The second one is a model of Dirac fermions coupled to a dynamic scalar field that gives rise to the Gross-Neveu model. The proposed cold atom experiments can be used to probe spectral or correlation properties of interacting quantum field theories thereby presenting an alternative to lattice gauge theory simulations.  相似文献

We construct a relativistic quantum field theory in 2 + 1 dimensions whose Fock states provide a multivalued representation of the Poincaré group. We add a topological term to the action of a scalar field theory and we show that this endows the path integral of the theory with an operator-valued cocycle which modifies the transformation properties of physical states. We demonstrate that one-particle states carry (in general) fractional spin. We determine the spin of many-particle states and we prove a generalized spin-statistics relation. We propose an equation of motion for on-shell states which generalizes naturally the Dirac equation.  相似文献

We construct normalizable, semi-classical states for the previously proposed model of quantum gravity which is formulated as a spectral triple over holonomy loops. The semi-classical limit of the spectral triple gives the Dirac Hamiltonian in 3+1 dimensions. Also, time-independent lapse and shift fields emerge from the semi-classical states. Our analysis shows that the model might contain fermionic matter degrees of freedom.  相似文献

The Unruh effect is one of the most fundamental manifestations of the fact that the particle content of a field theory is observer dependent. However, there has been so far no experimental verification of this effect, as the associated temperatures lie far below any observable threshold. Recently, physical phenomena, which are of great experimental challenge, have been investigated by quantum simulations in various fields. Here we perform a proof-of-principle simulation of the evolution of fermionic modes under the Unruh effect with a nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) quantum simulator. By the quantum simulator, we experimentally demonstrate the behavior of Unruh temperature with acceleration, and we further investigate the quantum correlations quantified by quantum discord between two fermionic modes as seen by two relatively accelerated observers. It is shown that the quantum correlations can be created by the Unruh effect from the classically correlated states. Our work may provide a promising way to explore the quantum physics of accelerated systems.  相似文献

The relativistic Dirac equation in four-dimensional spacetime reveals a coherent relation between the dimensions of spacetime and the degrees of freedom of fermionic spinors. A massless Dirac fermion generates new symmetries corresponding to chirality spin and charge spin as well as conformal scaling transformations. With the introduction of intrinsic W-parity, a massless Dirac fermion can be treated as a Majorana-type or Weyl-type spinor in a six-dimensional spacetime that reflects the intrinsic quantum numbers of chirality spin. A generalized Dirac equation is obtained in the six-dimensional spacetime with a maximal symmetry. Based on the framework of gravitational quantum field theory proposed in Ref. [1] with the postulate of gauge invariance and coordinate independence, we arrive at a maximally symmetric gravitational gauge field theory for the massless Dirac fermion in six-dimensional spacetime. Such a theory is governed by the local spin gauge symmetry SP(1,5) and the global Poincar′e symmetry P(1,5)= SO(1,5) P~(1,5) as well as the charge spin gauge symmetry SU(2). The theory leads to the prediction of doubly electrically charged bosons. A scalar field and conformal scaling gauge field are introduced to maintain both global and local conformal scaling symmetries. A generalized gravitational Dirac equation for the massless Dirac fermion is derived in the six-dimensional spacetime. The equations of motion for gauge fields are obtained with conserved currents in the presence of gravitational effects. The dynamics of the gauge-type gravifield as a Goldstone-like boson is shown to be governed by a conserved energy-momentum tensor, and its symmetric part provides a generalized Einstein equation of gravity. An alternative geometrical symmetry breaking mechanism for the mass generation of Dirac fermions is demonstrated.  相似文献

We study expectation values of observables in three-dimensional spinfoam quantum gravity coupled to Dirac fermions. We revisit the model introduced by one of the authors and extend it to the case of massless fermionic fields. We introduce observables, analyse their symmetries and the corresponding proper gauge fixing. The Berezin integral over the fermionic fields is performed and the fermionic observables are expanded in open paths and closed loops associated to pure quantum gravity observables. We obtain the vertex amplitudes for gauge-invariant observables, while the expectation values of gauge-variant observables, such as the fermion propagator, are given by the evaluation of particular spin networks.  相似文献

From the inspection of noncommutative quantum mechanics, we obtain an approximate equivalent relation for the energy dependence of the Planck constant in the noncommutative space, which means a minimal length of the space. We find that this relation is reasonable and it can inherit the main properties of the noncommutative space. Based on this relation, we derive the modified Klein-Gordon equation and Dirac equation. We investigate the scalar field and φ4 model and then quantum electrodynamics in our theory, and derive the corresponding Feynman rules. These results may be considered as reasonable approximations to those of noncommutative quantum field theory. Our theory also shows a connection between the space with a minimal length and the noncommutative space.  相似文献

We introduce the notion of ‘order-k non-abelian exclusion statistics’. We derive the associated thermodynamic equations by employing the thermodynamic Bethe ansatz for specific non-diagonal scattering matrices. We make contact with results obtained by different methods and we point out connections with ‘fermionic sum formulas’ for characters in a conformal field theory. As an application, we derive thermodynamic distribution functions for quasi-holes over a class of non-abelian quantum Hall states recently proposed by Read and Rezayi.  相似文献

Gravitational interactions of Dirac field are studied in this paper. Based on gauge principle, quantum gauge theory of gravity, which is perturbatively renormalizable, is formulated in the Minkowski space-time. In quantum gauge theory of gravity, gravity is treated as a kind of fundamental interactions, which is transmitted by gravitational gauge field, and Dirac field couples to gravitational field through gravitational gauge covariant derivative. Based on this theory, we can easily explain gravitational phase effect, which has already been detected by COW experiment.  相似文献

The quantum vacuum is unstable under the influence of an external electric field and decays into pairs of charged particles, a process which is known as the Schwinger pair production. We propose and demonstrate that this electric field can generate entanglement. Using the Schwinger pair production for constant and pulsed electric fields, we study entanglement for scalar particles with zero spins and Dirac fermions. One can observe the variation of the entanglement produced for bosonic and fermionic modes with respect to different parameters.  相似文献

Classical finite-energy solutions of the SU(2) Yang-Mills-Higgs system in four-dimensional space-time are embedded in the supersymmetric extension of the theory. Finite supertranslations are constructed and are used to obtain a family of solutions to the supersymmetric field equations, parametrized by fermionic Majorana spinor parameters. The quantum theory around arbitrary classical solutions, parametrized by arbitrary bosonic (global and local) as well as fermionic (global) parameters, is constructed and discussed.  相似文献
