Quantum measurements play a crucial role in quantum mechanics since they perturb, unavoidably and irreversibly, the state of the measured quantum system. More extremely, the constant observation of a quantum system can even freeze its dynamics to a subspace, effectively truncating the Hilbert space of the system. It represents the quantum version of the famous flying arrow Zeno paradox, and is called quantum Zeno dynamics. In general, it can be obtained by applying frequent consecutive quantum measurements that are equally spaced in time. Here, we introduce time disorder in the measurement sequence, and analytically investigate how this temporal stochasticity may affect the confinement probability of the system in the subspace. As main result, we then exploit how different dissipative and coherent Zeno protocols can be generalized to this stochastic scenario. Finally, our analytical predictions are numerically tested on a paradigmatic spin chain where we find a trade‐off between a probabilistic scheme with high fidelity (compared to perfect subspace dynamics) and a deterministic one with a slightly lower fidelity, moving further steps towards new schemes of Zeno‐based control for future quantum technologies.  相似文献

We provide a general dynamical approach for the quantum Zeno and anti-Zeno efects in an open quantum system under repeated non-demolition measurements.In our approach the repeated measurements are described by a general dynamical model without the wave function collapse postulation.Based on that model,we further study both the short-time and long-time evolutions of the open quantum system under repeated non-demolition measurements,and derive the measurement-modified decay rates of the excited state.In the cases with frequent ideal measurements at zero-temperature,we re-obtain the same decay rate as that from the wave function collapse postulation(Nature,2000,405:546).The correction to the ideal decay rate is also obtained under the non-ideal measurements.Especially,we find that the quantum Zeno and anti-Zeno efects are possibly enhanced by the non-ideal natures of measurements.For the open system under measurements with arbitrary period,we generally derive the rate equation for the long-time evolution for the cases with arbitrary temperature and noise spectrum,and show that in the long-time evolution the noise spectrum is efectively tuned by the repeated measurements.Our approach is also able to describe the quantum Zeno and anti-Zeno efects given by the phase modulation pulses,as well as the relevant quantum control schemes.  相似文献

提出了一种广义的三模式腔光机械系统,系统的中间是一个反射率为100%的可移动的全反射机械振子,两侧均由一个部分透射的固定光学腔镜构成.其中两个光学腔由一束较强的控制场和一束较弱的信号场驱动与同一个机械振子实现耦合.较弱的信号场将会被该系统完全吸收而不产生任何能量输出,并且当相干完美吸收产生时,输入信号场的能量将由两个腔场和机械模共同分担;较弱的输入信号场由一个腔完美透视到另一个腔而不产生任何的能量损耗.分析与数值结果显示,在不同参数机制下,在该三模光机械系统中可以实现相干完美吸收、相干完美透射和相干完美合成的量子现象.此外,改变腔与腔之间的耦合度,可以实现输出探测场在相干完美吸收和相干完美透射之间转换;通过简单的相位调制,可以实现探测场左腔-右腔的输出和输入方向的互换.这些动态控制在量子信息网络可用来构造光子开关、光子路由、光子交换机等一些特殊功能的光子学器件.  相似文献

We have frozen the coherent evolution of a field in a cavity by repeated measurements of its photon number. We use circular Rydberg atoms dispersively coupled to the cavity mode for an absorption-free photon counting. These measurements inhibit the growth of a field injected in the cavity by a classical source. This manifestation of the quantum Zeno effect illustrates the backaction of the photon number determination onto the field phase. The residual growth of the field can be seen as a random walk of its amplitude in the two-dimensional phase space. This experiment sheds light onto the measurement process and opens perspectives for active quantum feedback.  相似文献

The effect of the presence of two probe waveguides on the dynamics of hyper-Raman processes is studied in terms of quantum Zeno and anti-Zeno effects. Specifically, the enhancement (diminution) of the evolution of the hyper-Raman processes due to interaction with the probe waveguides via evanescent waves is viewed as quantum Zeno (anti-Zeno) effect. This study considers the two probe waveguides interacting with only one of the optical modes at a time. For instance, as a specific scenario, it is considered that the two non-degenerate pump modes interact with each probe waveguide linearly, while Stokes and anti-Stokes modes do not interact with the probes. Similarly, in another scenario, it is assumed both the probe waveguides interact with Stokes (anti-Stokes) mode simultaneously. The present results show that quantum Zeno (anti-Zeno) effect is associated with phase-matching (mismatching). However, it do not find any relation between the presence of the quantum Zeno effect and antibunching in the bosonic modes present in the hyper-Raman processes.  相似文献

We discuss an implementation of quantum Zeno dynamics in a cavity quantum electrodynamics experiment. By performing repeated unitary operations on atoms coupled to the field, we restrict the field evolution in chosen subspaces of the total Hilbert space. This procedure leads to promising methods for tailoring nonclassical states. We propose to realize "tweezers" picking a coherent field at a point in phase space and moving it towards an arbitrary final position without affecting other nonoverlapping coherent components. These effects could be observed with a state-of-the-art apparatus.  相似文献

We theoretically study the quantum nondemolition measurements of a flux qubit coupled to a noisy superconduct-ing quantum interference device (SQUID).The obtained analytical results indicate that the measurement probability is frequency-dependent in a short time scale and has a close relationship with the measurement-induced dephasing.Furthermore,when the detuning between the driven and bare resonator equals the coupling strength,we can obtain the maximum measurement rate that is determined by the character of the noise in the SQUID.Finally,we analysed the mixed effect caused by coupling between the non-diagonal term and the external variable.It is found that the initial information of the qubit is destroyed due to quantum tunneling between the qubit states.  相似文献

Frequent projective measurements performed on a bipartite joint pure state system will result in the quantum Zeno effect on the subsystem of interest. In this article an asymmetric intersubband quantum well structure as a high temperature terahertz (THz) optical switch is proposed. In our proposed structure the incoming low power energy photon (THz control signal) causes an optical switching. In this structure we introduce an optical terahertz switch based on coherent population trapping (CPT) phenomena. In the presence of electromagnetic THz field, quantum interference between the terahertz control field and short-wavelength probe field under appropriate condition, the medium becomes transparent (zero absorption) for the probe field. So the absorption and refraction characteristic of optical probe field can be modified with THz radiation. Therefore this idea is suitable for all – optical terahertz switching.  相似文献

The quantum-classical transition problem is investigated for the quartic oscillator coupled to a thermal reservoir. We show for this model that the combination of relevant diffusion, classical action (represented by the amplitude of an initial coherent state) and the experimental uncertainties is necessary to achieve the classical regime. In order to study the role of limited resolutions of measurement apparatuses on the correspondence between the quantum and classical dynamics, we consider experimental errors due the preparation of the initial state of the quartic oscillator and the inaccuracies in the time measurements. A quantum break time depending on the diffusion constant, the amplitude of the initial coherent state and the inaccuracy of measurements is defined. We found, for this model, a regime where the increasing of diffusion does not anticipate classicality. In such regime, there is a minimum value for the classical action associated to classical behavior of the system.  相似文献

Observables of quantum systems can possess either a discrete or a continuous spectrum. For example, upon measurements of the photon number of a light state, discrete outcomes will result whereas measurements of the light's quadrature amplitudes result in continuous outcomes. If one uses the continuous degree of freedom of a quantum system for encoding, processing or detecting information, one enters the field of continuous‐variable (CV) quantum information processing. In this paper we review the basic principles of CV quantum information processing with main focus on recent developments in the field. We will be addressing the three main stages of a quantum information system; the preparation stage where quantum information is encoded into CVs of coherent states and single‐photon states, the processing stage where CV information is manipulated to carry out a specified protocol and a detection stage where CV information is measured using homodyne detection or photon counting.  相似文献

Dynamic propagation and storing-retrieving of a weak infrared (IR)-light pulse in a coupled semiconductor double-quantum-dot (SDQD) structure are studied theoretically with feasible parameters. Two characteristic features are found. First, it is shown that, with a constant control field, the SDQD medium is transparent to the probe pulse which propagates over sufficiently long distances. Furthermore, the pulse shape remains unchanged on propagation. Second, with a time-varying control field, we are able to store and retrieve the probe pulse in this four-subband SDQD medium by adiabatically switching off and on the control field. Such a four-subband SDQD system for storing and retrieving coherent information is much more practical than its atomic counterpart as a result of its flexible design and the controllable (tunable) interference strength and thus provides a new possibility for technological applications in quantum information science in the SDQD solid-state nanostructure.  相似文献

In a three-level asymmetric semiconductor quantum well system, owing to the effects that result from the incoherent pumping fields, the probe absorption of probe field can be effectively controlled. The result is achieved by applying the two incoherent pumping fields, so it is different from the conventional way in ordinary laser-driven schemes that coherent driving fields are necessary to control the probe absorption. Otherwise, our study is much more practical than its atomic counterpart due to its flexible design and the controllable interference strength. Thus, it may provide some new possibilities for technological applications in optoelectronics and solid-state quantum information science.  相似文献

本文研究了在两个耦合的量子点和腔QED系统中的双模激子的压缩性质.讨论了不同的初始光场对双模激子的正常压缩与和压缩的影响.计算表明,当初始态光场制备在相干态时,双模激子既不存在正常压缩,也不存在和压缩,这说明双模激子振辐的两个正交分量具有相同的量子涨落;然而,当初始腔场处于压缩真空态时,无论是正常压缩还是和压缩,双模激子振辐的两个正交分量总有一个存在压缩.这意味着量子噪声能被有效的得到抑制.此外,两种情形下的最大压缩都由初始腔场的压缩因子r决定.经过比较,我们还发现双模激子的正常压缩比和压缩大.  相似文献

In quantum information processing, the quality of photon system is decreased by the inevitable interaction with environment, which will greatly reduce the efficiency and security of quantum information processing. In this paper, we propose hyperentanglement-assisted hyperdistillation schemes to guarantee the quality of hyper-encoding photon system based on the method of quantum hyper-teleportation, which can increase the success probability of hyperdistillation and reduce the resource consumption. First, we propose a hyperentanglement-assisted single-photon hyperdistillation (HASPHD) scheme for polarization and spatial qubits to get rid of the vacuum state component caused by transmission loss, whose success probability can achieve the optimal one by increasing the efficiency of quantum hyper-teleportation. Subsequently, we present two hyperentanglement-assisted hyperentanglement distillation (HAHED) schemes for photon system to protect hyperentanglement from both transmission loss and quantum channel noise, which can recover the less-entangled mixed state to maximally hyperentangled state for known-parameter and unknown-parameter cases with high success probability and low resource consumption. In these hyperdistillation schemes, the influence of imperfect effects of optical elements can be largely decreased by the quantum hyper-teleportation method. These characters make the hyperentanglement-assisted hyperdistillation schemes have potential application prospects in practical quantum information processing.  相似文献

Based on the quantum information theory, we have investigated the entropy squeezing of a moving two-level atom interacting with the coherent field via the quantum mechanical channel of the two-photon process. The results are compared with those of atomic squeezing based on the Heisenberg uncertainty relation. The influences of the atomic motion and field-mode structure parameter on the atomic entropy squeezing and on the control of noise of the quantum mechanical channel via the two-photon process are examined. Our results show that the squeezed period, duration of optimal entropy squeezing of a two-level atom and the noise of the quantum mechanical channel can be controlled by appropriately choosing the atomic motion and the field-mode structure parameter, respectively. The quantum mechanical channel of two-photon process is an ideal channel for quantum information (atomic quantum state) transmission. Quantum information entropy is a remarkably accurate measure of the atomic squeezing.  相似文献
