We present a complete set of experimental approaches for the NMR assignment of powdered tripeptide glutathione at natural isotopic abundance, based on J-coupling and dipolar NMR techniques combined with (1)H CRAMPS decoupling. To fully assign the spectra, two-dimensional (2D) high-resolution methods, such as (1)H-(13)C INEPT-HSQC/PRESTO heteronuclear correlations (HETCOR), (1)H-(1)H double-quantum (DQ), and (1)H-(14)N D-HMQC correlation experiments, have been used. To support the interpretation of the experimental data, periodic density functional theory calculations together with the GIPAW approach have been used to calculate the (1)H and (13)C chemical shifts. It is found that the shifts calculated with two popular plane wave codes (CASTEP and Quantum ESPRESSO) are in excellent agreement with the experimental results.  相似文献

Lead nitrate is an inorganic salt, commonly used for the accurate temperature determination in the solid state NMR spectroscopy, due to the strong temperature dependence of the 207Pb chemical shift. As the reason for this phenomenon remained unknown, the main purpose of this study was to explain this temperature dependence at the molecular level. To achieve this, combined CASTEP geometry optimization, quantum molecular dynamics at chosen temperatures and GIPAW NMR computations were performed. Due to the previous literature reports on inaccuracy in the calculation of 207Pb NMR parameters using GIPAW, a large emphasis was put on the optimization of computational method. The application of quantum molecular dynamics provided the simulation of the temperature-dependent vibrational motions and enabled to accurately compute the changes in the value of Pb δiso resulting from them. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Selected guaianolide type sesquiterpene lactones were studied combining solution and solid-state NMR spectroscopy with theoretical calculations of the chemical shifts in both environments and with the X-ray data. The experimental (1)H and (13)C chemical shifts in solution were successfully reproduced by theoretical calculations (with the GIAO method and DFT B3LYP 6-31++G**) after geometry optimization (DFT B3LYP 6-31 G**) in vacuum. The GIPAW method was used for calculations of solid-state (13)C chemical shifts. The studied cases involved two polymorphs of helenalin, two pseudopolymorphs of 6α-hydroxydihydro-aromaticin and two cases of multiple asymmetric units in crystals: one in which the symmetry-independent molecules were connected by a series of hydrogen bonds (geigerinin) and the other in which the symmetry-independent molecules, deprived of any specific intermolecular interactions, differed in the conformation of the side chain (badkhysin). Geometrically different molecules present in the crystal lattices could be easily distinguished in the solid-state NMR spectra. Moreover, the experimental differences in the (13)C chemical shifts corresponding to nuclei in different polymorphs or in geometrically different molecules were nicely reproduced with the GIPAW calculations.  相似文献

The high-resolution 27Al and 31P NMR spectra of two as-synthesized forms of the microporous aluminophosphate AlPO-14 and the corresponding calcined-dehydrated form were assigned using both "first-principles" calculations of NMR parameters (GIPAW, as implemented in NMR-CASTEP) and a 27Al-31P heteronuclear correlation NMR experiment (MQ-J-HETCOR) that exploits 27Al multiple-quantum coherences and J couplings to identify Al-O-P linkages. NMR parameters calculated from published AlPO-14 crystal structures, which are derived from powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) data, are in poor agreement with experiment and it was necessary to optimize the structure geometry using energy minimization before satisfactory agreement was obtained. Comparison of simulated powder XRD patterns from the experimental and the energy-minimized structures shows that the changes in relative atomic positions in the optimized structure are relatively small and yield only minor adjustments in the Bragg peak intensities. These results indicate that a combination of NMR spectroscopy and first-principles calculation of NMR parameters may soon be considered a generally useful step in the refinement of the structures of microporous materials derived from powder diffraction data.  相似文献

Strontium is an element of fundamental importance in biomedical science. Indeed, it has been demonstrated that Sr(2+) ions can promote bone growth and inhibit bone resorption. Thus, the oral administration of Sr-containing medications has been used clinically to prevent osteoporosis, and Sr-containing biomaterials have been developed for implant and tissue engineering applications. The bioavailability of strontium metal cations in the body and their kinetics of release from materials will depend on their local environment. It is thus crucial to be able to characterize, in detail, strontium environments in disordered phases such as bioactive glasses, to understand their structure and rationalize their properties. In this paper, we demonstrate that (87)Sr NMR spectroscopy can serve as a valuable tool of investigation. First, the implementation of high-sensitivity (87)Sr solid-state NMR experiments is presented using (87)Sr-labeled strontium malonate (with DFS (double field sweep), QCPMG (quadrupolar Carr-Purcell-Meiboom-Gill), and WURST (wideband, uniform rate, and smooth truncation) excitation). Then, it is shown that GIPAW DFT (gauge including projector augmented wave density functional theory) calculations can accurately compute (87)Sr NMR parameters. Last and most importantly, (87)Sr NMR is used for the study of a (Ca,Sr)-silicate bioactive glass of limited Sr content (only ~9 wt %). The spectrum is interpreted using structural models of the glass, which are generated through molecular dynamics (MD) simulations and relaxed by DFT, before performing GIPAW calculations of (87)Sr NMR parameters. Finally, changes in the (87)Sr NMR spectrum after immersion of the glass in simulated body fluid (SBF) are reported and discussed.  相似文献

The compound {(mu-bpym)[Cu(AsPh3)2]2}(BF4)2 (1) has been prepared and studied in comparison with the triphenylphosphine analogue 2. Qualitatively, the structure of 1 with characteristically distorted copper(I) coordination caused by Ph/bpym/Ph sandwich interactions is similar to that of 2 and is approximately reproduced by DFT calculations for the model complex ions {(mu-bpym)[Cu(EMe2Ph)2]2}2+, E = P or As. In contrast, the dinuclear {(mu-bpym)[Cu(P(3-Me-C6H4)3)2]2}(BF4)2 (3) displays a distinctly less distorted metal coordination geometry due to the steric requirements of the methyl groups in the meta-tolyl substituents. The electrochemical reduction of 1 is less reversible than for the phosphine analogues; the one-electron-reduced form 1*- exhibits a broad, unresolved EPR signal at g = 2.0023. Resonance Raman spectroscopy of 1 shows the typical vibrations of the bpym ligand in agreement with the MLCT assignment of the long-wavelength transitions below 500 nm. All three dinuclear complexes exhibit luminescence at room temperature in the solid and in solution.  相似文献

The influence of selected perfluorinated compounds (PFCs), perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) or perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS), on the structure and organization of lipid membranes was investigated using model membranes-lipid monolayers and bilayers. The simplest model--a lipid monolayer--was studied at the air-water interface using the Langmuir-Blodgett technique with surface pressure and surface potential measurements. Lipid bilayers were characterized by NMR techniques and molecular dynamics simulations. Two phospholipids, 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DPPC) and 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DMPC), characterized by different surface properties have been chosen as components of the model membranes. For a DPPC monolayer, a phase transition from the liquid-expanded state to the liquid-condensed state can be observed upon compression at room temperature, while a DMPC monolayer under the same conditions remains in the liquid-expanded state. For each of the two lipids, the presence of both PFOA and PFOS leads to the formation of a more fluidic layer at the air-water interface. Pulsed field gradient NMR measurements of the lateral diffusion coefficient (DL) of DMPC and PFOA in oriented bilayers reveal that, upon addition of PFOA to DMPC bilayers, DL of DMPC decreases for small amounts of PFOA, while larger additions produce an increased DL. The DL values of PFOA were found to be slightly larger than those for DMPC, probably as a consequence of the water solubility of PFOA. Furthermore, 31P and 2H NMR showed that the gel-liquid crystalline phase transition temperature decreased by the addition of PFOA for concentrations of 5 mol % and above, indicating a destabilizing effect of PFOA on the membranes. Deuterium order parameters of deuterated DMPC were found to increase slightly upon increasing the PFOA concentration. The monolayer experiments reveal that PFOS also penetrates slowly into already preformed lipid layers, leading to a change of their properties with time. These experimental observations are in qualitative agreement with the computational results obtained from the molecular dynamics simulations showing a slow migration of PFCs from the surrounding water phase into DPPC and DMPC bilayers.  相似文献

This paper presents an NMR crystallography study of three polymorphs of furosemide. Experimental magic-angle spinning (MAS) solid-state NMR spectra are reported for form I of furosemide, and these are assigned using density-functional theory (DFT)-based gauge-including projector augmented wave (GIPAW) calculations. Focusing on the three known polymorphs, we examine the changes to the NMR parameters due to crystal packing effects. We use a recently developed formalism to visualise which regions are responsible for the chemical shielding of particular sites and hence understand the variation in NMR parameters between the three polymorphs.  相似文献

The 29Si and 17O NMR parameters of six polymorphs of MgSiO3 were determined through a combination of high-resolution solid-state NMR and first-principles gauge including projector augmented wave (GIPAW) formalism calculations using periodic boundary conditions. MgSiO3 is an important component of the Earth's mantle that undergoes structural changes as a function of pressure and temperature. For the lower pressure polymorphs (ortho-, clino-, and protoenstatite), all oxygen species in the 17O high-resolution triple-quantum magic angle spinning (MAS) NMR spectra were resolved and assigned. These assignments differ from those tentatively suggested in previous work on the basis of empirical experimental correlations. The higher pressure polymorphs of MgSiO3 (majorite, akimotoite, and perovskite) are stabilized at pressures corresponding to the Earth's transition zone and lower mantle, with perovskite being the major constituent at depths >660 km. We present the first 17O NMR data for these materials and confirm previous 29Si work in the literature. The use of high-resolution multiple-quantum MAS (MQMAS) and satellite-transition MAS (STMAS) experiments allows us to resolve distinct oxygen species, and full assignments are suggested. The six polymorphs exhibit a wide variety of structure types, providing an ideal opportunity to consider the variation of NMR parameters (both shielding and quadrupolar) with local structure, including changes in coordination number, local geometry (bond distances and angles), and bonding. For example, we find that, although there is a general correlation of increasing 17O chemical shift with increasing Si-O bond length, the shift observed also depends upon the exact coordination environment.  相似文献

Experimental 13C solid-state magic-angle spinning (MAS) Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) as well as Density-Functional Theory (DFT) gauge-including projector augmented wave (GIPAW) calculations were used to probe disorder and local mobility in diethylcarbamazine citrate, (DEC)+(citrate). This compound has been used as the first option drug for the treatment of filariasis, a disease endemic in tropical countries and caused by adult worms of Wuchereria bancrofti, which is transmitted by mosquitoes. We firstly present 2D 13C─1H dipolar-coupling-mediated heteronuclear correlation spectra recorded at moderate spinning frequency, to explore the intermolecular interaction between DEC and citrate molecules. Secondly, we investigate the dynamic behavior of (DEC)+(citrate) by varying the temperature and correlating the experimental MAS NMR results with DFT GIPAW calculations that consider two (DEC)+ conformers (in a 70:30 ratio) for crystal structures determined at 293 and 235 K. Solid-state NMR provides insights on slow exchange dynamics revealing conformational changes involving particularly the DEC ethyl groups.  相似文献

The synthesis and X-ray structures of gold(I) adducts supported by beta-diketiminates have been reported. {[HC{(H)C(2,4,6-Br(3)C(6)H(2))N}(2)]Au}(2) and {[HC{(H)C(Dipp)N}(2)]Au}(2) [Dipp = 2,6-(i-Pr)(2)C(6)H(3)] are easily isolable solids and feature 12-membered macrocyclic ring structures. beta-Diketiminate ligands adopt a W-shaped conformation. Gold atoms are bonded to the nitrogen atoms in a linear fashion. (1)H NMR signals corresponding to the protons at the beta-diketiminate ligand beta-C position of the gold adducts appear at a notably high downfield region.  相似文献

Hydrated BaSn(1-x)Y(x)O(3-x/2) is a protonic conductor that, unlike many other related perovskites, shows high conductivity even at high substitution levels. A joint multinuclear NMR spectroscopy and density functional theory (total energy and GIPAW NMR calculations) investigation of BaSn(1-x)Y(x)O(3-x/2) (0.10 ≤ x ≤ 0.50) was performed to investigate cation ordering and the location of the oxygen vacancies in the dry material. The DFT energetics show that Y doping on the Sn site is favored over doping on the Ba site. The (119)Sn chemical shifts are sensitive to the number of neighboring Sn and Y cations, an experimental observation that is supported by the GIPAW calculations and that allows clustering to be monitored: Y substitution on the Sn sublattice is close to random up to x = 0.20, while at higher substitution levels, Y-O-Y linkages are avoided, leading, at x = 0.50, to strict Y-O-Sn alternation of B-site cations. These results are confirmed by the absence of a "Y-O-Y" (17)O resonance and supported by the (17)O NMR shift calculations. Although resonances due to six-coordinate Y cations were observed by (89)Y NMR, the agreement between the experimental and calculated shifts was poor. Five-coordinate Sn and Y sites (i.e., sites next to the vacancy) were observed by (119)Sn and (89)Y NMR, respectively, these sites disappearing on hydration. More five-coordinated Sn than five-coordinated Y sites are seen, even at x = 0.50, which is ascribed to the presence of residual Sn-O-Sn defects in the cation-ordered material and their ability to accommodate O vacancies. High-temperature (119)Sn NMR reveals that the O ions are mobile above 400 °C, oxygen mobility being required to hydrate these materials. The high protonic mobility, even in the high Y-content materials, is ascribed to the Y-O-Sn cation ordering, which prevents proton trapping on the more basic Y-O-Y sites.  相似文献

The structures of the series of two-coordinate gold(I) complexes {(Me(2)PhP)AuX}(n) where X is Cl, Br, or I have been examined by X-ray diffraction. The chloro complex crystallized in two separate polymorphic forms. Colorless hexagonal blocks of {(Me(2)PhP)AuCl}(3) crystallized in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/m with a = 12.141(4) ?, b = 8.433(2) ?, c = 14.834(3) ?, and beta = 94.15(2) degrees at 130 K with Z = 2. Refinement of 2837 reflections and 177 parameters yielded R = 0.066 and R(w) = 0.069. The complex consists of three nearly linear P-Au-Cl units that are connected by Au-Au contacts at 3.091(2) and 3.120(2) ?. Colorless prisms of {(Me(2)PhP)AuCl}(2) form in the orthorhombic space group P2(1)2(1)2(1) as described earlier (Cookson, P. D.; Tiekink, E. R. T. Acta Crystallogr. 1993, C49, 1602). The two nearly linear P-Au-Cl units are staggered and connected through a Au-Au bond (3.230(2) ?). Colorless rectangular prisms of {(Me(2)PhP)AuBr}(2) form in the monoclinic space group P2(1) with a = 9.572(5) ?, b = 8.757(3), and c = 12.915(7) at 130 K with Z = 2. Refinement of 2469 reflections with 118 parameters yielded R = 0.080 and R(w) = 0.084. {(Me(2)PhP)AuI}(2) is isomorphous with the bromo complex with a = 9.736(2) ?, b = 8.890(2) ?, and c = 13.160(5) ? at 130 K with Z = 2. Refinement of 2796 reflections with 119 parameters yielded R = 0.052 and R(w) = 0.058. These complexes are similar to the chloro dimer but with altered orientations of the phenyl substituent. The predicted order of ligand effects (Cl > Br > I) on Au-Au distances from quasi-relativistic calculations is borne out in the experimental values: 3.230 ? (Cl); 3.119 ? (Br); 3.104 ? (I). In dichloromethane, these complexes dissociate into monomeric units but there is some evidence for the presence of dimers in concentrated solutions of the iodide compound.  相似文献

The potential of the approach combining nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, relaxed grid search (RGS), molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, and quantum mechanical (QM) calculations for the determination of diastereomer configurations is demonstrated using four diastereomers of a trisubstituted epoxide. Since the change in configuration of the chiral center is expected to change the distribution of conformer populations (including those of side-chain rotamers), changes in NMR parameters [chemical shifts, J couplings, and nuclear Overhauser effects (NOEs)] are expected. The method therefore relies on (1) identification of possible conformations in each diastereomer using relaxed grid search analysis and MD simulations; (2) geometry optimizations of conformers selected from step (1), followed by calculations of their relative energies (populations) using QM methods; (3) calculations of averaged NMR parameters using QM methods; (4) matching calculated and experimental values of NMR parameters of diastereomers. The diastereomer configurations are considered resolved, if three NMR parameters different in nature, chemical shifts, J couplings, and NOEs, are in agreement. A further advantage of this method is that full structural and dynamics characterization of each of the diastereomers is achieved based on the joint analysis of experimental and computational data.  相似文献

We report here the first fully ab initio determination of (13)C NMR spectra for several crystal structures of cholesterol, observed in various biomaterials. We combine Gauge-Including Projector Augmented Waves (GIPAW) calculations at relaxed structures, fully including dispersion forces, with Magic Angle Spinning Solid State NMR experiments and spectral editing to achieve a detailed interpretation of the complex NMR spectra of cholesterol crystals. By introducing an environment-dependent secondary referencing scheme in our calculations, not only do we reproduce the characteristic spectral features of the different crystalline polymorphs, thus clearly discriminating among them, but also closely represent the spectrum in the region of several highly overlapping peaks. This, in combination with spectral editing, allows us to provide a complete peak assignment for monohydrate (ChM) and low-temperature anhydrous (ChAl) crystal polymorphs. Our results show that the synergy between ab initio calculations and refined experimental techniques can be exploited for an accurate and efficient NMR crystallography of complex systems of great interest for biomaterial studies. The method is general in nature and can be applied for studies of various complex biomaterials.  相似文献

In solution, (E) to (Z)-isomerism is facile both in 3-(9-anthracenyl)-1-(pyridin-4-yl)propenone, 2, and in its silver(I) complex [Ag(2)(2)](+). The crystal structures of (E)-2, (Z)-2 and [Ag{(E)-2}(2)][SbF(6)] are presented, and the roles of edge-to-face and face-to-face π-interactions in the lattice are discussed. Solution NMR spectroscopic data suggest that the driving force for (E) to (Z) isomerization is intramolecular π-stacking of the pyridine and anthracene domains. The reversed enone 3-(9-anthracenyl)-1-(pyridin-4-yl)propen-3-one, (E)-3, and the silver(I) complex [Ag{(E)-3}(2)][SbF(6)] have been prepared and characterized, including a single crystal X-ray determination of the latter. Surprisingly, no π-stacking between anthracene or pyridine domains is observed in the solid state, and the crystal packing is dominated by Ag···F, CH(anthracene)···π-pyridine and CH···F interactions. In contrast to (E)-2 and [Ag{(E)-2}(2)](+), neither (E)-3 nor [Ag{(E)-3}(2)](+) undergoes photoisomerization in solution.  相似文献

Single-crystal X-ray diffraction structures of the 5-amino-2-methylpyridinium hydrogen fumarate salt have been solved at 150 and 300 K (CCDC 1952142 and 1952143). A base–acid–base–acid ring is formed through pyridinium-carboxylate and amine-carboxylate hydrogen bonds that hold together chains formed from hydrogen-bonded hydrogen fumarate ions. 1H and 13C chemical shifts as well as 14N shifts that additionally depend on the quadrupolar interaction are determined by experimental magic angle spinning (MAS) solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and gauge-including projector-augmented wave (GIPAW) calculation. Two-dimensional homonuclear 1H-1H double-quantum (DQ) MAS and heteronuclear 1H-13C and 14N-1H spectra are presented. Only small differences of up to 0.1 and 0.6 ppm for 1H and 13C are observed between GIPAW calculations starting with the two structures solved at 150 and 300 K (after geometry optimisation of atomic positions, but not unit cell parameters). A comparison of GIPAW-calculated 1H chemical shifts for isolated molecules and the full crystal structures is indicative of hydrogen bonding strength.  相似文献

The reaction between {(Me3Si)2CH}PCl2 and one equivalent of [C10H6-8-NMe2]Li, followed by in situ reduction with LiAlH4, gives the secondary phosphane {(Me3Si)2CH}(C10H6-8-NMe2)PH(1) in good yield as a colourless crystalline solid. Metalation of 1 with Bu(n)Li in diethyl ether gives the lithium phosphanide [{[{(Me3Si)2CH}(C10H6-8-NMe2)P]Li}2(OEt2)](2), which undergoes metathesis with either NaOBu(t) or KOBu(t) to give the heavier alkali metal derivatives [[{(Me3Si)2CH}(C10H6-8-NMe2)P]-Na(tmeda)](3) and [[{(Me3Si)2CH}(C10H6-8-NMe2)P]K(pmdeta)](4), after recrystallisation in the presence of the corresponding amine co-ligand [tmeda = N,N,N',N'-tetramethylethylenediamine, pmdeta = N,N,N',N",N"-pentamethyldiethylenetriamine]. Compounds 2-4 have been characterised by 1H, 13C{1H} and 31P{1H} NMR spectroscopy, elemental analyses and X-ray crystallography. Dinuclear 2 crystallises with the phosphanide ligands arranged in a head-to-head fashion and is subject to dynamic exchange in toluene solution; in contrast, compounds 3 and 4 crystallise as discrete monomers which exhibit no dynamic behaviour in solution. DFT calculations on the model compound [{[(Me)(C10H6-8-NMe2)P]Li},(OMe2)] (2a) indicate that the most stable head-to-head form is favoured by 15.0 kcal mol(-1) over the corresponding head-to-tail form.  相似文献

NMR chemical shifts were calculated for semiconducting (n,0) single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) with n ranging from 7 to 17. Infinite isolated SWNTs were calculated using a gauge-including projector-augmented plane-wave (GIPAW) approach with periodic boundary conditions and density functional theory (DFT). In order to minimize intertube interactions in the GIPAW computations, an intertube distance of 8 A was chosen. For the infinite tubes, we found a chemical shift range of over 20 ppm for the systems considered here. The SWNT family with lambda = mod(n, 3) = 0 has much smaller chemical shifts compared to the other two families with lambda = 1 and lambda = 2. For all three families, the chemical shifts decrease roughly inversely proportional to the tube's diameter. The results were compared to calculations of finite capped SWNT fragments using a gauge-including atomic orbital (GIAO) basis. Direct comparison of the two types of calculations could be made if benzene was used as the internal (computational) reference. The NMR chemical shifts of finite SWNTs were found to converge very slowly, if at all, to the infinite limit, indicating that capping has a strong effect (at least for the (9,0) tubes) on the calculated properties. Our results suggest that (13)C NMR has the potential for becoming a useful tool in characterizing SWNT samples.  相似文献

Heteropolytopic arsanylthiolato ligands 1-AsPh(2)-2-SHC(6)H(4) (AsSH), PhAs(2-SHC(6)H(4))(2) (AsS(2)H(2)), and As(2-SHC(6)H(4))(3) (AsS(3)H(3)) have been prepared by lithiation-electrophilic substitution procedures. The 2:1 reaction of AsSH with NiCl(2)·6H(2)O, Na(2)[PdCl(4)], and [PtI(2)(cod)] (cod = 1,5-cyclooctadiene) in the presence of NEt(3) afforded the square-planar complexes trans-[Ni{(AsS)-κ(2)S,As}(2)] (1), cis-[Pd{(AsS)-κ(2)S,As}(2)] (2), trans-[Pd{(AsS)-κ(2)S,As}(2)] (3), and cis-[Pt{(AsS)-κ(2)S,As}(2)] (4). In the cases of nickel and platinum, only one isomer was isolated. With palladium, initially the cis isomer 2 is formed and undergoes slow isomerization to the trans isomer 3 in solution. Small amounts of the trinuclear complex [{PtI(1-AsPh(2)-μ-2-S-C(6)H(4)-κ(2)S,As)}(3)] (5) are also formed besides the mononuclear platinum bis-chelate complex 4. Density functional theory calculations support a dissociative mechanism for the isomerization of the palladium(II) complexes.  相似文献
