The diamond product is the poset operation that when applied to the face lattices of two polytopes results in the face lattice of the Cartesian product of the polytopes. Application of the diamond product to two Eulerian posets is a bilinear operation on the cd-indices of the two posets, yielding a product on cd-polynomials. A lattice path interpretation is provided for this product of two cd-monomials.  相似文献

Via duality of Hopf algebras, there is a direct association between peak quasisymmetric functions and enumeration of chains in Eulerian posets. We study this association explicitly, showing that the notion of cd-index, long studied in the context of convex polytopes and Eulerian posets, arises as the dual basis to a natural basis of peak quasisymmetric functions introduced by Stembridge. Thus Eulerian posets having a nonnegative cd-index (for example, face lattices of convex polytopes) correspond to peak quasisymmetric functions having a nonnegative representation in terms of this basis. We diagonalize the operator that associates the basis of descent sets for all quasisymmetric functions to that of peak sets for the algebra of peak functions, and study the g-polynomial for Eulerian posets as an algebra homomorphism.  相似文献

We present a method of lifting linear inequalities for the flag f-vector of polytopes to higher dimensions. Known inequalities that can be lifted using this technique are the non-negativity of the toric g-vector and that the simplex minimizes the cd-index. We obtain new inequalities for six-dimensional polytopes. In the last section we present the currently best known inequalities for dimensions 5 through 8.  相似文献

In this paper, we prove some fixed point theorems for generalized contractions in the setting of G-metric spaces. Our results extend a result of Edelstein [M. Edelstein, On fixed and periodic points under contractive mappings, J. London Math. Soc., 37 (1962), 74–79] and a result of Suzuki [T. Suzuki, A new type of fixed point theorem in metric spaces, Nonlinear Anal., 71 (2009), 5313–5317]. We prove, also, a fixed point theorem in the setting of G-cone metric spaces.  相似文献

We study the non-negativity conjecture of the complete cd-index of a Bruhat interval as defined by Billera and Brenti. For each cd-monomial M we construct a set of paths, such that if a “flip condition” is satisfied, then the number of these paths is the coefficient of the monomial M in the complete cd-index. When the monomial contains at most one d, then the condition follows from Dyer’s proof of Cellini’s conjecture. Hence the coefficients of these monomials are non-negative. We also relate the flip condition to shelling of Bruhat intervals.  相似文献

For an elliptic curve E over Q, and a real quadratic extension F of Q, satisfying suitable hypotheses, we study the algebraic part of certain twisted L-values for E/F. The Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture predicts that these L-values are squares of rational numbers. We show that this question is related to the ratio of Petersson inner products of a quaternionic form on a definite quaternion algebra over Q and its base change to F.  相似文献

In this paper by a spectrum of mappings we mean a morphism of spectra of spaces. However, using the notion of a mapping of mappings, we give the definition of a spectrum of mappings similar to that of a spectrum of spaces. In this case, the formulations of the given results are also similar to the formulations of the corresponding results concerning the spectra of spaces. For the spectra of mappings we define the notion of a τ-spectrum of mappings factorizing in a special sense and prove a version of the Spectral Theorem for such spectra. Furthermore, to a given indexed collection F of mapping we associate a τ-spectrum factorizing in the above special sense whose mappings are Containing Mappings for F constructed in Iliadis (2005) [4]. These associated τ-spectra and the corresponding version of the Spectral Theorem imply that for a given indexed collection F of mappings any so-called “natural” τ-spectrum for F factorizing in the special sense contains a cofinal and τ-closed subspectrum whose mappings are Containing Mapping for F. Thus, Containing Mappigs for F appear here without any concrete construction. The associated τ-spectra are used also in order to define and characterize the so-called second-type saturated classes of mappings (which are “saturated” by universal elements).  相似文献

In this paper, we study flag structures of matroid base polytopes. We describe faces of matroid base polytopes in terms of matroid data, and give conditions for hyperplane splits of matroid base polytopes. Also, we show how the cd-index of a polytope can be expressed when a polytope is split by a hyperplane, and apply these to the cd-index of a matroid base polytope of a rank 2 matroid.  相似文献

Let R and S be commuting n-tuples of operators. We will give some spectral relations between RS and SR that extend the case of single operators. We connect the Taylor spectrum, the Fredholm spectrum and some other joint spectra of RS and SR. Applications to Aluthge transforms of commuting n-tuples are also provided.  相似文献

The notion of level posets is introduced. This class of infinite posets has the property that between every two adjacent ranks the same bipartite graph occurs. When the adjacency matrix is indecomposable, we determine the length of the longest interval one needs to check to verify Eulerianness. Furthermore, we show that every level Eulerian poset associated to an indecomposable matrix has even order. A condition for verifying shellability is introduced and is automated using the algebra of walks. Applying the Skolem–Mahler–Lech theorem, the ab-series of a level poset is shown to be a rational generating function in the non-commutative variables a and b. In the case the poset is also Eulerian, the analogous result holds for the cd-series. Using coalgebraic techniques a method is developed to recognize the cd-series matrix of a level Eulerian poset.  相似文献

We study an (sS) production inventory system where the processing of inventory requires a positive random amount of time. As a consequence a queue of demands is formed. Demand process is assumed to be Poisson, duration of each service and time required to add an item to the inventory when the production is on, are independent, non-identically distributed exponential random variables. We assume that no customer joins the queue when the inventory level is zero. This assumption leads to an explicit product form solution for the steady state probability vector, using a simple approach. This is despite the fact that there is a strong correlation between the lead-time (the time required to add an item into the inventory) and the number of customers waiting in the system. The technique is: combine the steady state vector of the classical M/M/1 queue and the steady state vector of a production inventory system where the service is instantaneous and no backlogs are allowed. Using a similar technique, the expected length of a production cycle is also obtained explicitly. The optimal values of S and the production switching on level s have been studied for a cost function involving the steady state system performance measures. Since we have obtained explicit expressions for the performance measures, analytic expressions have been derived for calculating the optimal values of S and s.  相似文献

In this paper we extend the results obtained in [3], where are investigated the general settings of the two-dimensional complex Finsler manifolds, with respect to a local complex Berwald frame. The geometry of such manifolds is controlled by three real invariants which live on T'M: two horizontal curvature invariants K and W and one vertical curvature invariant I. By means of these invariants are defined both the horizontal and the vertical holomorphic sectional curvatures. The complex Landsberg and Berwald spaces are of particular interest. Complex Berwald spaces coincide with Kähler spaces, in the two – dimensional case. We establish the necessary and sufficient condition under which K is a constant and we obtain a characterization for the Kähler purely Hermitian spaces by the fact K = W = constant and I = 0. For the class of complex Berwald spaces we have K = W = 0. Finally, a classification of two-dimensional complex Finsler spaces for which the horizontal curvature satisfies a special property is obtained.  相似文献

Let A be a direct limit of a direct system of Cohen–Macaulay rings. In this paper, we describe the Cohen–Macaulay property of A. Our results indicate that A is not necessarily Cohen–Macaulay. We show A is Cohen–Macaulay under various assumptions. As an application, we study Cohen–Macaulayness of non-affine normal semigroup rings.  相似文献

We consider path ideals associated to special classes of posets such as tree posets and cycles. We express their property of being sequentially Cohen–Macaulay in terms of the underlying poset. Moreover, monomial ideals, which arise in algebraic statistics from the Luce-decomposable model and the ascending model, can be viewed as path ideals of certain posets. We study invariants of these so-called Luce-decomposable monomial ideals and ascending ideals for diamond posets and products of chains. In particular, for these classes of posets, we explicitly compute their Krull dimension, their projective dimension, their Castelnuovo–Mumford regularity and their Betti numbers.  相似文献

This paper develops a gradient based and a least squares based iterative algorithms for solving matrix equation AXB + CXTD = F. The basic idea is to decompose the matrix equation (system) under consideration into two subsystems by applying the hierarchical identification principle and to derive the iterative algorithms by extending the iterative methods for solving Ax = b and AXB = F. The analysis shows that when the matrix equation has a unique solution (under the sense of least squares), the iterative solution converges to the exact solution for any initial values. A numerical example verifies the proposed theorems.  相似文献

In this paper we give a uniform way of proving cartesian closedness for many new subcategories of continuous posets. We define C-P to be the category of continuous posets whose D–completions are isomorphic to objects from C, where C is a subcategory of the category CONT of domains. The main result is that if C is a cartesian closed full subcategory of ALG or BC, then C-P is also a cartesian closed subcategory of the category CONTP of continuous posets and Scott continuous functions. In particular, we have the following cartesian closed categories : BC-P, LAT-P, aL-P, aBC-P, B-P, aLAT-P, ω -B-P, ω -aLAT-P, etc.  相似文献

For a family of functionals in a Banach space, which are possibly non-smooth and depend also on a positive real parameter, the existence of a sequence of critical points (according to Motreanu and Panagiotopoulos (“Minimax Theorems and Qualitative Properties of the Solutions of Hemivariational Inequalities,” Nonconvex Optimization Applications, Vol. 29, Kluwer, Dordrecht, 1998, Chap. 3)) is established by mainly adapting a new technique due to Ricceri (2000, J. Comput. Appl. Math.113, 401-410). Two applications are then presented. Both of them treat the Neumann problem for an elliptic variational-hemivariational inequality with p-Laplacian.  相似文献

Let G be a connected Lie group with the Lie algebra . The action of Cameron-Martin space on the path space Pe(G) introduced by L. Gross (Illinois J. Math. 36 (1992) 447) is free. Using this fact, we define the H-distance on Pe(G), which enables us to establish a transportation cost inequality on Pe(G). This method will be generalized to the path space over the loop group , so that we obtain a transportation cost inequality for heat measures on .  相似文献
