Equations defining in linear approximation the wave motions in an arbitrarily stratified fluid are derived. Investigation of convergence of wave solutions with approximations ρn (z) of the mean density profile ρo (z) shows that uniform convergence of ρn (z) to ρo (z) is the sufficient condition of convergence of wave equation solutions. The convergence of solutions is uniform on sets of upper bound wave numbers and lower bound phase velocities of waves. Examples that show that when the continuous function ρo (z) is approximated by step-wide functions ρn (z) the convergence of solutions for internal waves is not uniform over the whole set of admissible wave numbers and phase velocities of waves.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with a functional differential equation x(z)=1/x(az+bx(z)), where a, b are two complex numbers. By constructing a convergent power series solution y(z) of a auxiliary equation of the form b2y(z)=(y2z)−ayz))(μyz)−ay(z)), analytic solutions of the form for the original differential equation are obtained.  相似文献

An analytical treatment of a fractional generalisation of the free electron laser (FEL) equation is given, whereby a closed form solution is obtained in terms of Kummer functions Φ(a, c; z). Suppose {k, −∞ < k < ∞} is an independent, not necessarily identically distributed sequence of random variables, and {cj}j=0, {dj}j=0 are sequences of real numbers such that Σjc2j < ∞, Σjd2j < ∞. Then, under appropriate moment conditions on {k, −∞ < k < ∞}, yk Σj=0cjk-j, zk Σj=0djk-j exist almost surely and in 4 and the question of Gaussian approximation to S[t]Σ[t]k=1 (yk zkE{yk zk}) becomes of interest. Prior to this work several related central limit theorems and a weak invariance principle were proven under stationary assumptions. In this note, we demonstrate that an almost sure invariance principle for S[t], with error bound sharp enough to imply a weak invariance principle, a functional law of the iterated logarithm, and even upper and lower class results, also exists. Moreover, we remove virtually all constraints on k for “time” k ≤ 0, weaken the stationarity assumptions on {k, −∞ < k < ∞}, and improve the summability conditions on {cj}j=0, {dj}j=0 as compared to the existing weak invariance principle. Applications relevant to this work include normal approximation and almost sure fluctuation results in sample covariances (let dj = cj-m for jm and otherwise 0), quadratic forms, Whittle's and Hosoya's estimates, adaptive filtering and stochastic approximation.  相似文献

W(z) is defined implicitly as the root of W exp(W) = z. It is shown that a simple analytic approximation has a relative error of less than 5% over the whole domain z ε [−exp(−1), ∞] of the principle branch—sufficiently accurate so that four Newton iterations refine this approximation to a relative error smaller than 1.E-12. As a second form of global approximation, the W-function is expanded as a series of rational Chebyshev functions TBj in a shifted, logarithmic coordinate with an error that decreases exponentially fast with the series truncation.  相似文献

The main result is that for a Banach space X, if there is ε, where 0 < ε < 1/2, such that W*(1 + ε) > ε/2 where W*(1 + ε) = lim→ε W* (1 + ), then X has normal structure.  相似文献

For an ordinal ξ, a special set S(ξ) is used to study ωξ-deviation. The depth of P, denoted by δ(P) is the least ordinal β that does not embed in P*. Then the following statements are equivalent: (1) ωξ-dev P does not exist; (2) S(ξ) embeds in P; and (3) P has a subset Q of cardinality ξ such that δ(Q*) = ωξ + 1. Also ωξ-dev P = <ωξ + 1 if and only if |δ(P*)|ξ; if these equivalent conditions hold, then ωβξ < δ(P*) ≤ ω + 1ξ for all β < . Oscillation criteria are obtained by using the so called H-method for the second order neutral type delay differential equations of the form

The results of the paper contains several results obtained previously as special cases. Furthermore, we are also able to fix an error in a recent paper related to the oscillation of second order nonneutral delay differential equations.  相似文献

The following theorem is proved: given square matrices A, D of the same size, D nonnegative, then either the equation Ax + B|x| = b has a unique solution for each B with |B| ≤ D and for each b, or the equation Ax + B0|x| = 0 has a nontrivial solution for some matrix B0 of a very special form, |B0| ≤ D; the two alternatives exclude each other. Some consequences of this result are drawn. In particular, we define a λ to be an absolute eigenvalue of A if |Ax| = λ|x| for some x ≠ 0, and we prove that each square real matrix has an absolute eigenvalue.  相似文献

We consider the asymptotic behavior of the ratios qn+1(z)/qn(z) of polynomials orthonormal with respect to some positive measure μ. Let the recurrence coefficients n and βn converge to 0 and , respectively. Then, qn+1(z)/qn(z) Φ(z),for n→∞ locally uniformly for , where Φ maps conformally onto the exterior of the unit disc (Nevai (1979)). In this paper, we investigate the uniform asymptotic behavior of the single variable Bell polynomials on the negative real axis, to which all zeros belong. It is found that there exists an ascending sequence {Zk}1(−e,0) such that the polynomials are represented by a finite sum of infinite asymptotic series, each in terms of the Airy function and its derivative, and the number of series under this sum is 1 in the interval (−∞,Z1) and k+1 in [Zk,Zk+1), k1. Furthermore, it is shown that an asymptotic expansion, also in terms of Airy function and its derivative, completed with error bounds, holds uniformly in (−∞,−δ] for positive δ.  相似文献

This problem can be understood as a scheduling problem and is checked to be NP-complete. We learn how to recognize in polynomial time those hypergraphs H=(X,E) which induce an optimal value of z min equal to .

Next we work on a dual question which arises about interval graphs, when some partial orderings on the vertex set of these graphs intend to represent inclusion, overlapping or anteriority relations between closed intervals of the real line.  相似文献

An interesting criterion was given by Lashin (A.Y. Lashin, Some convolution properties of analytic functions, Appl. Math.
