(Er,Yb):YAl3(BO3)4 single crystals of optical quality, up to 15 × 10 × 10 mm3 in size, have been grown from a (Er0.023Yb0.116Y0.862)Al3(BO3)4 solution in a Y2O3-B2O3-K2Mo3O10 melt. The initial borate concentration was 17 wt %, and the flux cooling rate increased from 0.08 to 0.12°C/h in the range 1060–1000°C. The physical properties of the single crystals grown are good enough that they can be used as laser elements in systems with diode pumping and radiation near 1.5 μm.  相似文献

KTiOPO4 single crystals of dimensions 34 × 15 × 15 mm3 have successfully been grown by Top Seeded Solution Growth (TSSG), using phosphate flux (K6P4O13), employing a home made vertical cylindrical three zone resistive heated furnace. Growth experiments were carried out with <001> seed orientation. A method to grow inclusion free crystal with less dislocation density is proposed, by employing cooling rate of 0.5‐2 K/day and rotation rate of 60‐30 rpm. UV‐VIS transmission studies were performed and the dependence of absorption coefficient with wavelength is discussed. SHG elements of dimension 8 × 7.5 × 7.5 mm3 were fabricated and conversion efficiency of 58 % was achieved without antireflection coating. Nature of ionic conductivity and ferroelectric phase transition behavior of KTP crystals along the crystallographic polar axis in the frequency range of 100 Hz – 10 MHz are discussed.  相似文献

The high-rate growth of nickel sulfate hexahydrate NiSO4 · 6H2O (α-NSH) crystals up to 120 × 120 × 65 mm3 in size is described for the first time. The data on the distribution of related impurities in the {011} and {001} growth sectors of α-NSH crystals grown at different rates are reported. The transmission spectra of both growth sectors of these crystals are obtained. The structural quality and the optical properties of rapidly and slowly grown α-NSH crystals are compared. It is established that the {011} growth sector of crystals grown at rates exceeding 5 mm/day shows the best characteristics for application in UV filters.  相似文献

Large size crystals of KH2PO4 (KDP) were grown by adopting rapid growth technique from point seeds in a 1500‐liter crystallizer which is used to grow KDP crystals by conventional method. The grown KDP crystal size can reach to 310 × 310 × 320 mm3 and the average growth rate was 8mm/day. The optic properties of the rapidly grown KDP crystals were characterized comparing with the KDP crystals grown by the traditional temperature reduction method. We found it that the optical quality of the KDP crystals we grown rapidly are not significantly different from those of KDP crystals grown by traditional method. (© 2005 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. To grow ZnO single crystals from a high temperature solution of the ZnO‐PbF2 system, a gas cooling system was assembled at the bottom of the crucible to induce nucleation in the initial growth stage. The growth experiments were carried out in a homemade vertical Bridgman furnace and Pt crucible of 28 mm in diameter was used. The furnace temperature was set to 1100°C and the flow rate of the oxygen gas was optimized as 3.0 l/min. ZnO crystal up to 5∼8mm in the thickness was obtained with the lowering rate of 0.3 mm/h. XRD patterns showed that the as‐grown crystal was pure ZnO Wurtzite phase. The impurity ions were analyzed by the glow discharge mass spectroscopy (GDMS) as 390.0 ppm and 40.0 ppm for Pb2+ and F, respectively. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

The process of seed growth of KTiOPO4 crystals from three different high-temperature solutions containing WO3, with definite compositions is reported. The low viscosity and relatively slight change of the solubility of the KTP with the variation of the temperature allow the growth of adequately large crystals, free from inclusions, in the case of two tested techniques – slow cooling and temperature gradient. Conditions to avoid defects in the seed region have been found. The relatively high growth rates allow the production of crystals in a 5-day growth run, that can be cut into samples oriented along synchronism for the second harmonic generation(SHG) with dimensions 8 × 8 × 7 mm3. SHG measurements reveal that the quality of the samples considered is comparable with KTP crystals grown from high-temperature nonstoichiometric solutions.  相似文献

Single crystals of L‐Prolinium tartrate (C5H10NO2)+ (C4H5O6), a new organic non‐linear optical material of size: 15 × 10 × 10 mm3 were grown using submerged seed solution growth method. Characterization of the crystals was made using single crystal X‐ray diffraction and density determination. Spectroscopic, thermal, optical and mechanical studies were carried out. These studies show that the crystals are thermally stable upto 161°C, transparent for the fundamental and second harmonic generation of Nd: YAG (λ = 1064 nm) laser and possess good mechanical strength. Second harmonic generation (SHG) conversion efficiency was investigated to explore the NLO characteristics of this material using Kurtz and Perry method and it was found that the SHG conversion efficiency is about 90% of that of the standard KDP crystals. Laser damage threshold study was also carried out. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

The organic NLO material 2‐nitro aniline and picric acid (2NAP) was synthesized, needle shaped single crystals of dimension 10 × 1 × 0.8 mm‐3 were grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique from the saturated solution of the title compound in chloroform at ambient temperature. The material was characterized through elemental analysis, powder XRD, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and FTIR techniques. The various planes of reflection have been identified from the XRD powder pattern. The formation of the charge transfer complex was confirmed by UV‐VIS spectroscopy. The thermal stability of the crystals was investigated using TG/DTA analyses techniques. The second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency of the material was estimated using Nd: YAG laser as source. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Bridgman growth of Nd:SGG (Sr3Ga2Ge4O14) crystals has been investigated for the first time. Pt crucible of ∅︁25mm×250mm with a seed well of ∅︁10mm×80 mm is used, and seed is SGG crystal of ∅︁10mm×50mm grown by Bridgman method in advance. The growth parameters are optimized as the furnace temperature is set to 1450∼1500°C, temperature gradient in the crystal‐melt interface is less than 25 K/cm and growth rate is less than 0.5mm/h. The Nd:SGG crystals with 25mm in diameter and 60mm in length are grown successfully from 1.5 to 8at% Nd3+ doped stoichiometric Sr3Ga2Ge4O14 melt. The distribution coefficient and concentration of Nd3+ in Nd:SGG crystals are obviously higher than those of Nd:YAG crystal. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

L‐arginine hydrochloride monohydrate (LAHCl.H2O) has been synthesized and single crystals have been grown from its aqueous solution by slow evaporation and slow cooling methods. The solubility of the material was measured at various temperatures and bulk crystals of size 26×13×11 mm3 have been grown by optimizing the growth parameters. The grown crystals have been subjected to single crystal XRD studies to confirm the structure and to estimate the lattice parameters. FTIR analysis indicate the mode of vibrations of different molecular groups present in LAHCl and confirm the protonation of guanidyl, amino groups and deprotonation of COO groups. UV‐Vis transmission spectrum revealed the linear optical properties of the grown crystals with a transparency of 65% over the entire visible range upto 300 nm. Thermal behavior of the grown crystal was investigated from DTA and TGA measurements. Dielectric studies have been carried out on the grown crystals. Kurtz and Perry powder SHG technique confirms the NLO property of the grown crystal. The SHG efficiency of LAHCl was found to be 0.38 with respect to KDP. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Single crystals of non‐linear optical (NLO) LAHClBr were grown by slow evaporation technique from its aqueous solution. Good optical quality crystals having dimensions up to 12 × 9 × 7 mm3 were obtained. The lattice parameters and morphology for the grown crystals were determined using single crystal XRD. The crystals were characterized by FT‐Raman, optical absorption, thermal (DTA and TGA) and dielectric studies. LAHClBr was found to be thermally stable up to 124.3°C. The influence of various technological parameters of crystallization (acidity of growth solutions, crystallization temperature, growth rate, degree of solution purification) on the optical absorption of large KDP single crystals has been studied in the UV range of the spectrum. It is shown that the method of solvent recirculation with the use of the starting material with the microimpurity content not exceeding 5 × 10?5 wt % and solution ultrafiltration under the optimum crystallization conditions (tcr = 80°C, Vcr ~ (0.8–1.6) × 10?6 cm/s, pH 4) enables one to grow KDP single crystals with cross sections up to 300 × 300 mm2 and the transmission in the vicinity of the fundamental absorption edge λ = 200 nm) equal to 86%.  相似文献

YMnO3 single crystals were grown by flux method and plate‐like single crystals with the c‐axis perpendicular to the surfaces were obtained. The maximum size of these crystals was about 2 × 2 × 0.07 mm3. Ferroelectric properties were measured at various frequencies and abnormal behavior at the low frequencies were observed and discussed using non‐linear current‐voltage behavior. Raman and IR spectra were obtained, and those results were compared with previous work.  相似文献

Li3 + x P1 ? x GexO4 crystals (x = 0.34) with dimensions of about 3 × 3 × 5 mm3 were grown for the first time from flux. The conductivities of the crystals measured along three directions have close values and are equal to σ ≈ 1.8 × 10?6 and 3.7 × 10?2 Sm/cm at the temperatures 40 and 400°C, respectively (similar to the case of pure lithium phosphate, somewhat lower values of electric conductivity were measure along the b axis). The activation energy of conductivity is equal to 0.54 eV. A considerable increase in the conductivity of the solid solution in comparison with the conductivity of pure lithium phosphate is explained by the specific features of the lithium sublattice in the crystal structure of the λ-Li3PO4 type.  相似文献

Chemical and structural effects in LuAlO3-Ce3+ single crystals grown by the Bridgman method were studied using spectral emission, x-ray, etching and optical techniques. The Ce concentration distribution was found to exhibit the normal freeze behavior with partition coefficient of 0,17. The expansion of the unit cell volume due to incorporation of Ce was measured. Dislocation etch pits were revealed on (010), (100) and (001) crystal faces. Thermal expansion behavior of LuAlO3 was studied along the major crystallographic axes in between the room temperature and 1000 °C. The scintillation performance of 5 × 5 × 10 mm3 samples was measured using a 662 keV gamma source with a shaping time of 1.2 μs. The light yield was increasing from 40% BGO to 70% BGO with increasing of the Ce3+ content from 0.13 at.% to 0.9 at.%.  相似文献

The present work communicates about the first successful attempt at growing of sizeable single crystals of vanadyl pyrophosphate (VO)2P2O7 (VOPO) — a low dimensional antiferromagnet. The growth of VOPO is complicated by two features of this compound. The first is a strong sensitivity of the oxydation state of vanadium (and stability of VOPO) to the oxygen content in the growth atmosphere. The second is a tendency of the VOPO-melt to glass formation during the cooling due to its high viscosity. Therefore the growth has to be carried out with a very low growth rate and in an atmosphere with exactly controllable oxygen content. The best results were achieved with a combination of Czochralski and Kyropoulos techniques, i.e. pulling of crystals with simultaneous cooling of the melt. Crystals of VOPO with sizes up to 10 × 5 × 3 mm3 have been grown. The growth from the melt is accompanied by growth from gaseous phase also (sublimation). Since the VOPO phase has a homogeneity range in oxygen content, attention was paid to the composition of the grown crystals. Growth experiments combined with TGA and XRD measurements show, that the oxygen content and thus the oxidation state of vanadium in the crystals can be adjusted accurately.  相似文献

Antimony oxide iodide, Sb5O7I (?7Sb2O3.SbI3), is monoclinic and exists in at least 8 polytypic modifications. Crystals of these (transparent, pseudohexagonal prisms up to 15 × 10 × 5 mm3) were grown by vacuum sublimation and identified by optical and X-ray methods. Depending on the stacking sequence of characteristic slabs of antimony and oxygen in the (monoclinic) b-direction, centric and acentric polytypes result. The former show pure ferroelastic, the latter combined ferroelastic + ferroelectric behaviour. All polytypes transform reversibly into hexagonal, nonferroic phases at characteristic Curie temperatures between 165 and 208°C. The crystals can assume one of the three stable orientation states which may be mutually switched into each other by successive application of comprehensive stress (of the order of 106 N/m2) on the three pairs of prism faces. In the ferroelectric polytypes the spontaneous polarization (about 5 × 10-3 C/m2) is not reversible but only reorientable by ± 120° by coercive fields in the order of 2–5 kV/cm. Ferroelectricity and ferroelasticity are fully coupled.  相似文献

Good optical quality single crystals of zinc hydrogen phosphate (ZnHPO4) having dimensions up to 8×2×2 mm3 have been grown with the aid of sodium meta silicate gel. Single crystal XRD studies confirm that the crystal belongs to the orthorhombic system with space group P212121. The functional groups present in the crystals were confirmed using FTIR technique. Optical absorbance shows very low absorption in the entire visible region. Differential thermal and thermo gravimetric analysis confirmed that the crystal is stable up to 193°C. Photoconductivity study reveals positive photoconductivity in the presence of photo active centers formed by trap energy levels. The NLO activity of the crystal was confirmed by Kurtz powder technique. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Solubility and metastable zonewidth were estimated for p‐Bromoacetanilide. Employing slow evaporation method crystals of size 22x17x6 mm3 and 38x25x10 mm3 were grown at a constant temperature of 40°C and room temperature respectively from methanol solution. The cell dimensions were obtained by single crystal X‐ray diffraction study. The placement of protons was identified from NMR spectral analysis. UV‐Visible and fluorescence spectral analyses were carried out for the grown crystals. Vickers microhardness test was performed on the prominent (110) of the as grown crystal. Thermogravimetric and differential scanning calorimetric studies were carried out to determine the thermal properties of the grown crystal. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
