In this paper, rape stalk was modified with citric acid (CA) to prepare copper ion biosorbent. The modified rape stalk (MRS) was characterized by Fourier transforms infrared (FTIR), zeta potential, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The effects of various parameters like initial Cu2+ concentration, contact time, initial pH, and temperature on adsorption capacity were studied. The adsorption capacity of MRS at 298 K was 69.84 mg/g, far higher than 18.24 mg/g for native rape stalk (NRS). The adsorption mechanism was also evaluated in terms of kinetics and thermodynamics. The adsorption equilibrium data was well described by the Langmuir isotherm model. The adsorption process followed the pseudo-second-order rate kinetics. Thermodynamic study showed spontaneous and endothermic nature of the adsorption process. The ion exchange of the adsorption mechanism was affirmed. MRS could be a potentially low-cost and green adsorbent for removal of Cu2+ from aqueous solution.  相似文献

The removal of Cr(VI) ions from aqueous solution by human hair waste is investigated by using UV–Vis spectrophotometer technique. The morphological analysis of the human hair was also investigated by the scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transforms infrared spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The influence of various physicochemical effective parameters such as pH, ionic strength, adsorbent amount, contact time, initial concentration of metal ion on removal of Cr(VI) ions by human hair process was also studied. The optimum conditions for this adsorption process were obtained at pH = 2 and contact time of 150 min while the highest Cr(VI) uptake is recorded for 0.5 g of the adsorbent per 100 ml of solution. Three isotherms models including Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin were applied to describe the equilibrium data. It was found that the experimental data were well described by Freundlich isothermal model. The maximum adsorption capacity was found to be 11.64 mg g?1.The thermodynamic study data showed that the adsorption process of Cr(VI) on human hair is an endothermic, spontaneous and physisorption reaction. The kinetics of the adsorption process was studied using three kinetics models including Lagergren-first-order, pseudo-second-order and Elovich model. The obtained data are indicated that the adsorption processes of Cr(VI) over human hair could be described by the pseudo-second-order kinetic model.  相似文献

Poly(cyclotriphosphazene-co-4,4′-sulfonyldiphenol) (PZS) nanotubes were evaluated as an efficient adsorbent for the removal of Rhodamine B (RhB), a cationic dye from aqueous solution. The as-synthesized adsorbent (PZS nanotubes) were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscope (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and N2 adsorption/desorption isotherms. The factors influencing the adsorption efficiency and capacity had been systematically studied. Results showed that the adsorption was highly dependent on temperature, initial RhB concentration and adsorbent dose. Effects of initial solution pH indicate that the adsorption can proceed in both basic and acidic environment. The equilibrium absorption capacity at 25°C can reach up to 35.58 mg/g within 60 min implying the adsorption procedure was highly rapid. The kinetic data was better described by the pseudo-second-order model with the correlation coefficient (R2 = 0.9981), and the adsorption process followed Weber's intraparticle model, indicating the adsorption process could be divided into two stages. Results also showed that the adsorption equilibrium obeyed the Langmuir isotherm, and the value of equilibrium parameter RL suggested that the PZS nanotubes were an efficient adsorbent for the removal of RhB from aqueous solution.  相似文献

The removal of Th4+ ions from aqueous solutions was investigated using single-layer graphene oxide (GO) as a sorbent which was prepared by the modified Hummers’ method through batch adsorption experiments at room temperature. Structural characterizations of the sorbent were also investigated. The influences of the pH value of solution, contact time, sorbent dose, ionic strength, the initial metal ion concentration and temperature on the adsorption of Th4+ were also investigated. These results indicated that the adsorption of Th4+ was dependent on the pH and independent on the ionic strength. The sorbent provided significant Th4+ removal (>98.7 %) at pH 3.0 and the adsorption equilibrium was achieved after only 10 min. The Langmuir adsorption isotherm fit the absorption profile very closely, and indicated that a maximum adsorption capacity of 1.77 mmol g?1 of GO (411 mg g?1) after 2 h. The thermodynamic parameters showed that this adsorption process was endothermic and spontaneous. Moreover, the desorption level of Th4+ from GO, by using 0.1 mol L?1 H2SO4 as a stripping agent, was 84.2 ± 1.2 %, and that of 0.5 mol L?1 HNO3 as a stripping agent, was 79.8 ± 3.0 %.  相似文献

The utilization of diatomite as potential adsorbent to remove malachite green (MG) from aqueous solution was developed. The characterization of the diatomite was evaluated by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Brurauer Emmerr Teller (BET). The operating variables of pH, diatomite mass, initial MG concentration, and adsorption reaction time were studied. The equilibrium, kinetics, and thermodynamic parameters were investigated as well. It was found that the diatomite was composed of integral and almost circle sieve tray with lots of small pores on it, which afforded the diatomite high specific surface area of 46.09 m2 g?1. The optimum pH and reaction time were 7 and 90 minutes, respectively. The MG removal increased accordingly as the diatomite mass increased. The isotherm results showed that the equilibrium data were fitted to Langmuir model better, indicating the MG adsorption was better characterized by mono-layer. The maximum mono-layer capacity obtained from Langmuir was 23.64 mg g?1 at 25°C. The kinetic studies indicated that experiment data followed pseudo-second-order model better. It also revealed that intraparticle diffusion was not the only rate-controlling step. The thermodynamic results concluded that the adsorption process was endothermic and more favorable at high temperature. Researches confirmed the applicability of diatomite as an efficient adsorbent and low-cost process to remove hazardous materials.  相似文献

Cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) prepared from cellulose fibre via sulfuric acid hydrolysis was used as an adsorbent for the removal of methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solution. The effects of pH, adsorbent dosage, temperature, ionic strength, initial dye concentration were studied to optimize the conditions for the maximum adsorption of dye. Adsorption equilibrium data was fitted to both Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models, where the Langmuir model better described the adsorption process. The maximum adsorption capacity was 118 mg dye/g CNC at 25 °C and pH 9. Calculated thermodynamic parameters, such as free energy change (ΔG = ?20.8 kJ/mol), enthalpy change (ΔH = ?3.45 kJ/mol), and entropy change (ΔS = 0.58 kJ/mol K) indicates that MB adsorption on CNCs is a spontaneous exothermic process. Tunability of the adsorption capacity by surface modification of CNCs was shown by oxidizing the primary hydroxyl groups on the CNC surface with TEMPO reagent and the adsorption capacity was increased from 118 to 769 mg dye/g CNC.  相似文献

The novel phosphorus-rich hydrothermal carbon spheres (HCSs–PO4) have been synthesized via one-step hydrothermal carbonization of glucose in the presence of phosphoric acid. The textural and surface chemistry properties were characterized using Boehm titrations, scanning electron microscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectrometer. The content of oxygen-containing functional groups on the surface of HCSs increased from 0.053 to 1.009 mmol g?1 by phosphate group modification. The adsorption ability of HCSs–PO4 has been explored for the removal of uranium from aqueous solutions. The adsorption kinetic data were best described by the pseudo-second-order equation. Adsorption process could be well defined by the Langmuir isotherm, the adsorption capacity of HCSs increased from 80.00 to 285.70 mg g?1 after phosphate group modification. And thermodynamic parameters indicated the adsorption process was feasible, endothermic and spontaneous. Selective adsorption studies showed that the HCSs–PO4 could selectively remove U(VI), and the selectivity coefficients had been improved in the presence of co-existing ions, Na(I), Ni(II), Sr(II), Mn(II), Mg(II) and Zn(II). Complete removal (99.9 %) of U(VI) from 1.0 L industry wastewater containing 15.0 mg U(VI) ions was possible with 12.0 g HCSs–PO4.  相似文献

We present static adsorption studies of anionic surfactants on crushed Berea sandstone. The maximum adsorption density was 0.9604 mg/g. The kinetics of adsorption process was modeled using pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order rate equations at 25°C and 70°C. The equilibrium adsorption process was validated using Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption models. In addition, the effects of different parameters that govern the effectiveness of these surfactants such as pH and temperature were also investigated. The kinetic study results show that the surfactant adsorption is a time dependent process. The apparent rate constant of adsorption process determined by the first-order kinetic model at 25°C and 70°C were 0.11768 and ?0.04513, respectively. The rate constant for pseudo-second-order kinetic model was 0.0086 at 25°C and 0.0101 at 70°C. The adsorption of anionic surfactant followed pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The Freundlich and Langmuir model constant were 1.6509 × 10?4 and ?9.775 × 10?5, respectively. The equilibrium results showed that the adsorption of anionic surfactant onto Berea sandstone was well described by Langmuir adsorption model. It was concluded that anionic surfactants performed better at higher pH and temperature.   相似文献

Uranium is a toxic and radioactive heavy metal found in nuclear effluents and should be treated based on environmental considerations. The adsorption of uranyl cations (UO2 2+) by apricot shell activated carbon (ASAC) was investigated in a batch system. The effects of pH, contact time, temperature, adsorbent dosage on the adsorption kinetics and equilibrium adsorption isotherms of U(VI) were examined. The U(VI) uptake was fast within the first 60 min and reached an equilibrium state at 120 min. The adsorption process was highly pH dependent and the maximum adsorption was obtained at an initial solution pH of 6.0. Temperature over the range 25–45 °C had little effect on the U(VI) adsorption. The U(VI) removal efficiency increased concurrently with increasing ASAC dosage, whereas the U(VI) adsorption capacity decreased with increasing ASAC dosage. The adsorption process followed both Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms. On the basis of Langmuir model, the maximum adsorption capacity was found to be 59.17 mg U(VI)/g adsorbent. The adsorption kinetics can be very well defined by the pseudo-first-order rate model. The present results suggest that ASAC could be used as an adsorbent for an efficient removal of U(VI) from aqueous solution.  相似文献

The ability of oxygen-rich carbon spheres (CSs) produced by hydrothermal carbonization with the glucose has been explored for the removal and recovery of uranium from aqueous solutions. The micro-morphology and structure of CSs were characterized by FT-IR and SEM. The influences of different experimental parameters such as solution pH, initial concentration, contact time, ionic strength and temperature on adsorption were investigated. The CSs showed the highest uranium sorption capacity at initial pH of 6.0 and contact time of 25 min. Adsorption kinetics was better described by the pseudo-second-order model and adsorption process could be well defined by the Langmuir isotherm. The thermodynamic parameters, △(298 K), △ and △ were determined to be ?16.88, 12.09 kJ mol?1 and 197.87 J mol?1 K?1, respectively, which demonstrated the sorption process of CSs towards U(VI) was feasible, spontaneous and endothermic in nature. The adsorbed CSs could be effectively regenerated by 0.05 mol/L HCl solution for the removal and recovery of U(VI). Complete removal (99.9 %) of U(VI) from 1.0 L industry wastewater containing 15.0 mg U(VI) ions was possible with 3.0 g CSs.  相似文献

The ability of biochar produced by hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) has been explored for the removal and recovery of uranium from aqueous solutions. The micro-morphology and structure of HTC were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy. The influences of different experimental parameters such as solution pH, initial concentration, contact time, ionic strength and temperature on adsorption were investigated. The HTC showed the highest uranium sorption capacity at initial pH of 6.0 and contact time of 50 min. Adsorption kinetics was better described by the pseudo-second-order model and adsorption process could be well defined by the Langmuir isotherm. The thermodynamic parameters, △(298 K), △ and △ were determined to be ?14.4, 36.1 kJ mol?1 and 169.7 J mol?1 K?1, respectively, which demonstrated the sorption process of HTC towards U(VI) was feasible, spontaneous and endothermic in nature. The adsorbed HTC could be effectively regenerated by 0.05 mol/L HCl solution for the removal and recovery of U(VI). Complete removal (99.9 %) of U(VI) from 1.0 L industry wastewater containing 15.0 mg U(VI) ions was possible with 2.0 g HTC.  相似文献

Facilely synthesized zinc hydroxide nanoparticles by electro-dissolution of zinc sacrificial anodes were investigated for the adsorption of thorium (Th4+), uranium (U4+) and cerium (Ce4+) from aqueous solution. Various operating parameters such as effect of pH, current density, temperature, electrode configuration, and electrode spacing on the adsorption efficiency of Th4+, U4+ and Ce4+ were studied. The results showed that the maximum removal efficiency was achieved for Th4+, U4+ and Ce4+ with zinc as anode and stainless steel as cathode at a current density of 0.2 A/dm2 and pH of 7.0. First- and second-order rate equations were applied to study the adsorption kinetics. The adsorption process follows second order kinetics model with good correlation. The Langmuir, Freundlich adsorption models were applied to describe the equilibrium isotherms and the isotherm constants were determined. The experimental adsorption data were fitted to the Langmuir adsorption model. Thermodynamic parameters such as free energy (Δ), enthalpy (Δ), and entropy changes (ΔS°) for the adsorption of Th4+, U4+ and Ce4+ were computed to predict the nature of adsorption process. Temperature studies showed that the adsorption was endothermic and spontaneous in nature.  相似文献

The aim of the present study is to investigate the removal of ammonium ions from aqueous solutions using the natural Western Azerbaijan zeolite by utilizing ion exchange process. Batch experimental studies were conducted to evaluate by changing relevant parameters such as pH, dosage of adsorbent, stirring time, initial ammonium concentration, and temperature. The results clearly confirmed that all mentioned parameters have vital affects on removing ammonium ions from wastewater and effluents, so got optimized. Adsorption kinetics and equilibrium data for the removal of ammonium ion were analyzed using Langmuir and Freundlich equations. The Langmuir model fits the equilibrium data better than the Freundlich model. According to the Langmuir equation, the maximum uptake for ammonium ion was 43.47 (mg g?1). Pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order models were used to represent the kinetics of the process. Kinetic studies showed that the adsorption followed a pseudo-second-order reaction. The calculated thermodynamic parameters (ΔG°, ΔH°, and ΔS°) indicate that the adsorption process is feasible, spontaneous, and endothermic at 20–50 °C. Based on the experimental results, it can be suggested that the natural Western Azerbaijan zeolite has the potential of application as an efficient adsorbent for the removal of ammonium ions from aqueous solutions, and is suggested for wastewater treatment purposes.  相似文献

Fe3O4/chitosan/poly(acrylic acid) (Fe3O4/CS/PAA) composite particles, which are reusable, biodegradable and of high adsorption capacity, have been prepared through polymerizing acrylic acid in chitosan and Fe3O4 nanoparticles aqueous solution. By varying in-feed mole ratio of carboxyl to amino group (nc/na) and reactant concentration, the average diameter of Fe3O4/CS/PAA composite particles can be controlled to vary from 100 to 300 nm. FT-IR, XRD and TEM were used to characterize Fe3O4/CS/PAA composite particles. Results showed that Fe3O4 was indeed incorporated into CS/PAA particles. The composite particles showed high efficient to remove copper ions (II) in aqueous solution. Adsorption kinetic studies showed that the adsorption process followed a pseudo-second-order kinetic model and the equilibrium data agreed well with the Langmuir model. The saturated adsorption capacity obtained from the experimental was 193 mg/g in close to proximity to the data 200 mg/g calculated from Langmuir model. The saturated adsorption capacity still retained 100 mg/g after three cycles of adsorption–desorption of copper ions (II).  相似文献

The studies of kinetics and equilibrium sorption of Cu(II) were undertaken using nanoscale zerovalent manganese (nZVMn) synthesized by chemical reduction in a single pot system. nZVMn was characterized using scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive x-ray, and surface area determined by Brunauer–Emmett–Teller. The effect of pH, contact time, adsorbent dose, agitation speed, initial Cu(II) concentrations, temperature, and ionic strength on the sorption of Cu(II) onto nZVMn were investigated in a batch system. The kinetic data followed pseudo-second-order. The mechanism was governed by pore diffusion. The equilibrium sorption data were tested by Freundlich, Langmuir, Temkin, Dubinin–Kaganer–Raduskevich, and Halsey isotherm models. The Langmuir monolayer adsorption capacity (Qmax = 181.818 mg/g) is much greater compared to other nano-adsorbents used in sorption of Cu(II). The thermodynamic parameters (ΔH0, ΔS0, ΔG0) revealed a feasible, spontaneous, and endothermic adsorption process. nZVMn has a great potential for effective removal of copper (II) in aqueous solution.  相似文献

We prepared poly(N,N-diethylacrylamide-co-acrylic acid) (P(DEA-co-AA)) microgels which could efficiently remove UO2 2+ from aqueous solutions. In this study, the effect of adsorption parameters such as pH value, adsorbent dose, shaking time, and temperature has investigated. It is found that the pseudo-second-order model is more suitable for our experiment. The adsorption kinetic data indicated that the chemical adsorption was the swiftness processes, the adsorption equilibrium could be achieved within 30 min. And there are very good correlation coefficients of linearized equations for Langmuir isotherm model, which indicated that the sorption isotherm of the hydrogel for UO2 2+ can be fitted to the Langmuir isotherm model. The adsorption process was spontaneous (?G 0 < 0) and exothermic (?H 0 < 0). The adsorbed UO2 2+ can be desorbed effectively by 0.1 M HNO3 and the adsorption capacity is not significantly reduced after five cycles. Present study suggests that this P(DEA-co-AA) can be used as a potential adsorbent for sorption UO2 2+ and also provide a simple, fast separation method for removal of UO2 2+ ions from aqueous solution.  相似文献

An indigenously prepared zinc chloride activated Ipomoea carnea (morning glory), a low-cost and abundant adsorbent, was used for removal of Cu(II) ions from aqueous solutions in a batch adsorption system. The chemical activating agent ZnCl2 was dissolved in deionised water and then added to the adsorbent in two different ratios 1:1 and 1:0.5 adsorbent to activating agent ratio by weight. Studies were conducted as a function of contact time, initial metal concentration, dose of adsorbent, and pH. Activated Ipomoea carnea (AIC) were characterised using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), iodine number and methylene blue number. High iodine numbers indicates development of micro pores with zinc chloride activation. Maximum adsorption was noted within pH range 6.0(±0.05). Adsorption process is fast initially and reaches equilibrium after about 4 hours. The kinetic data were analysed using pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order models. The pseudo-second-order kinetic model was found to agree well with the experimental data. Adsorption equilibrium data were analyzed using Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models. The Langmuir model represented the sorption process better than the Freundlich model. Based on the Langmuir isotherm, the monolayer adsorption capacity of Cu(II) ions was 7.855 mg?g?1 for AIC (1:1) and 6.934 mg?g?1 for AIC (1:0.5).  相似文献

In this study, an amidoximated chelating ion exchange resin was prepared by poly-acrylonitrile (PAN) grafted potato starch. The adsorbent characterizations such as specific surface area, pore volume, average pore radius, and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrum of the resin were measured. The effects of pH, adsorbent dosage, contact time, initial concentration of thorium ion, and temperature on adsorption of thorium ion from aqueous solutions were investigated. Four isotherm models including Langmuir, Freundlich, Dubinin-Radushkevich, and Temkin were applied to analyze the equilibrium isotherm data. The results showed that Langmuir and Temkin models had a good agreement with experimental data. The maximum capacity of the adsorbent using the Langmuir isotherm model was 227.27 mg · g?1. The kinetic models like pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, Elovich, and intraparticle were examined to describe the adsorption process. The kinetics of the adsorption process was found to follow the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The thermodynamic parameters (ΔG°, ΔH°, ΔS°) were also calculated using equilibrium constant values at various temperatures (25, 35, 45, 55°C) and the positive value for ΔH° showed an endothermic adsorption process. The study suggests that the prepared adsorbent has promising potential for the removal of thorium from wastewaters.   相似文献

In this research, a novel adsorbent gold nanoparticle loaded on activated carbon (Au-NP-AC) was synthesized by a low cost in a routine protocol. Subsequently, this novel material characterization and identification are followed by different techniques such as th eBruner–Emmet–Teller (BET) theory, scanning electron microcopy, and transmission electron microscopy analysis. Unique properties such as high BET surface area (>1229.55 m2/g) and low pore size (<22.46 Å) and average particle size lower than 48.798 Å in addition to high reactive atom and presence of various functional groups make it possible for efficient removal of sunset yellow (SY) and methyl orange (MO). Generally, the influence of variables including amount of adsorbent, initial dyes concentration, contact time, temperature on dyes removal percentage has great effect on removal percentage that their influence was optimized. The kinetic of proposed adsorption processes efficiently followed, pseudo-second-order and intra-particle diffusion approach. The equilibrium data of the removal strongly follow the Langmuir monolayer adsorption with high adsorption capacity in a short amount of time. This novel adsorbent by small amount (0.01 g) really is applicable for removal of high amount of both dyes (MO and SY) in short time (<18 minutes). Equilibrium data fitted well with the Langmuir model at all amount of adsorbent, while maximum adsorption capacity for MO 161.29 mg g?1 and for SY 227.27 for 0.005 g of Au-NP-AC.  相似文献

The ability of ordered mesoporous carbon CMK-3 has been explored for the removal and recovery of uraium from aqueous solutions. The textural properties of CMK-3 were characterized using small-angle X-ray diffraction and N2 adsorption–desorption, and the BET specific surface area, pore volume and the pore size were 1143.7 m2/g, 1.10 cm3/g and 3.4 nm. The influences of different experimental parameters such as solution pH, initial concentration, contact time, ionic strength and temperature on adsorption were investigated. The CMK-3 showed the highest uranium sorption capacity at initial pH of 6.0 and contact time of 35 min. Adsorption kinetics was better described by the pseudo-second-order model and adsorption process could be well defined by the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm. The thermodynamic parameters, ?(298 K), ? and ? were determined to be ?7.7, 21.5 k J mol?1 and 98.2 J mol?1 K?1, respectively, which demonstrated the sorption process of CMK-3 towards U(VI) was feasible, spontaneous and endothermic in nature. The adsorbed CMK-3 could be effectively regenerated by 0.05 mol/L HCl solution for the removal and recovery of U(VI). Complete removal (99.9 %) of U(VI) from 1.0 L industry wastewater containing 15.0 mg U(VI) ions was possible with 2.0 g CMK-3.  相似文献
