Turning restriction is one of the commonest traffic management techniques and an effective low cost traffic improvement strategy in urban road networks. However, the literature has not paid much attention to the turning restriction design problem (TRDP), which aims to determine a set of intersections where turning restrictions should be implemented. In this paper, a bi-level programming model is proposed to formulate the TRDP. The upper level problem is to minimize the total travel cost from the viewpoint of traffic managers, and the lower level problem is to depict travelers’ route choice behavior based on stochastic user equilibrium (SUE) theory. We propose a branch and bound method (BBM), based on the sensitivity analysis algorithm (SAA), to find the optimal turning restriction strategy. A branch strategy and a bound strategy are applied to accelerate the solution process of the TRDP. The computational experiments give promising results, showing that the optimal turning restriction strategy can obviously reduce system congestion and are robust to the variations of both the dispersion parameter of the SUE problem and the level of demand.  相似文献

Design of a motorcycle frame using neuroacceleration strategies in MOEAs   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Designing a low-budget lightweight motorcycle frame with superior dynamic and mechanical properties is a complex engineering problem. This complexity is due in part to the presence of multiple design objectives—mass, structural stress and rigidity—, the high computational cost of the finite element (FE) simulations used to evaluate the objectives, and the nature of the design variables in the frame’s geometry (discrete and continuous). Therefore, this paper presents a neuroacceleration strategy for multiobjective evolutionary algorithms (MOEAs) based on the combined use of real (FE simulations) and approximate fitness function evaluations. The proposed approach accelerates convergence to the Pareto optimal front (POF) comprised of nondominated frame designs. The proposed MOEA uses a mixed genotype to encode discrete and continuous design variables, and a set of genetic operators applied according to the type of variable. The results show that the proposed neuro-accelerated MOEAs, NN-NSGA II and NN-MicroGA, improve upon the performance of their original counterparts, NSGA II and MicroGA. Thus, this neuroacceleration strategy is shown to be effective and probably applicable to other FE-based engineering design problems.  相似文献

The restriction (prohibition) of certain turns at intersections is a very common task employed by the managers of urban traffic networks. Surprisingly, this approach has received little attention in the research literature. The turning restriction design problem (TRDP) involves finding a set of turning restrictions at intersections to promote flow in a congested urban traffic network. This article uses a successive linear approximation (SLA) method for identifying approximate solutions to a nonlinear model of the TRDP. It aims to adjust the current turning restriction regime in a given network in order to minimize total user travel cost when route choice is driven by user equilibrium principles. Novel features of the method include the facts that it is based on link capacity-based arc travel costs and there is a budget constraint on the total cost of all turning restriction alterations. It has been tested using standard network examples from the literature. One of the tests utilized a multi-start approach which improved the solutions produced by the SLA method. The method was also employed to identify turning restrictions for an actual medium-sized urban traffic network in Brazil. Computational experience with the proposed method is promising.  相似文献

针对研究生招生面试分组这一NP难问题,提出了一种以分组遗传算法(GGA)和基于支配强度的改进NSGA Ⅱ算法为基础的混合多目标分组遗传算法。通过基于矩阵编码的多交叉/多变异算子、次精英化的初始化种群策略以及改进的帕累托支配关系,解决了经典NSGA Ⅱ算法在该问题中的收敛速度慢、易陷入局部最优的问题。仿真实验结果表明,该方法只需进行较少代数(不超过100代)的进化,即可获得最优解集,满足了快速分组的用户偏好。  相似文献

Medicines or drugs have unique characteristics of short life cycle, small size, light weight, restrictive distribution time and the need of temperature and humidity control (selected items only). Thus, logistics companies often use different types of vehicles with different carrying capacities, and considering fixed and variable costs in service delivery, which make the vehicle assignment and route optimization more complicated. In this study, we formulate the problem to a multi-type vehicle assignment and mixed integer programming route optimization model with fixed fleet size under the constraints of distribution time and carrying capacity. Given non-deterministic polynomial hard and optimal algorithm can only be used to solve small-size problem, a hybrid particle swarm intelligence (PSI) heuristic approach, which adopts the crossover and mutation operators from genetic algorithm and 2-opt local search strategy, is proposed to solve the problem. We also adapt a principle based on cost network and Dijkstra’s algorithm for vehicle scheduling to balance the distribution time limit and the high loading rate. We verify the relative performance of the proposed method against several known optimal or heuristic solutions using a standard data set for heterogeneous fleet vehicle routing problem. Additionally, we compare the relative performance of our proposed Hybrid PSI algorithm with two intelligent-based algorithms, Hybrid Population Heuristic algorithm and Improved Genetic Algorithm, using a real-world data set to illustrate the practical and validity of the model and algorithm.

This paper addresses a hot-rolling scheduling problem from compact strip production processes. At first, a mathematical model that consists of two coupled sub-problems is presented. The first sub-problem is the sheet-strip assignment problem that is about how to assign sheet-strips to rolling-turns with the objective of minimizing virtual sheet-strips. The second is the sheet-strip sequencing problem that is about how to sort the sheet-strips in each rolling-turn with the objective of minimizing the maximal changes in thickness between adjacent sheet-strips and the change times of the thickness so as to ensure high quality sheet-strips to be produced. And then, an improved hot-rolling scheduling heuristic is proposed to solve the sheet-strip assignment problem. A multi-objective evolutionary algorithm is developed to find the Pareto optimal or near-optimal solutions for the sheet-strip sequencing problem. Besides, the problem-specific knowledge is explored. The key operators including crossover operator, mutation operator and repair operator are designed for the multi-objective evolutionary algorithm. At last, extensive experiments based on real-world instances from a compact strip production process are carried out. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms for solving the hot-rolling scheduling problem under consideration.  相似文献

Traveling salesman problem is a fundamental combinatorial optimization model studied in the operations research community for nearly half a century, yet there is surprisingly little literature that addresses uncertainty and multiple objectives in it. A novel TSP variation, called uncertain multiobjective TSP (UMTSP) with uncertain variables on the arc, is proposed in this paper on the basis of uncertainty theory, and a new solution approach named uncertain approach is applied to obtain Pareto efficient route in UMTSP. Considering the uncertain and combinatorial nature of UMTSP, a new ABC algorithm inserted with reverse operator, crossover operator and mutation operator is designed to this problem, which outperforms other algorithms through the performance comparison on three benchmark TSPs. Finally, a new benchmark UMTSP case study is presented to illustrate the construction and solution of UMTSP, which shows that the optimal route in deterministic TSP can be a poor route in UMTSP.  相似文献

Similar to the constrained facility location problem, the passive optical network (PON) planning problem necessitates the search for a subset of deployed facilities (splitters) and their allocated demand points (optical network units) to minimize the overall deployment cost. In this paper we use a mixed integer linear programming formulation stemming from network flow optimization to construct a heuristic based on limiting the total number of interconnecting paths when implementing fiber duct sharing. Then, a disintegration heuristic involving the construction of valid clusters from the output of a k means algorithm, reduce the time complexity while ensuring close to optimal results. The proposed heuristics are then evaluated using a real-world dataset, showing favourable performance.  相似文献

This paper considers a berth allocation problem (BAP) which requires the determination of exact berthing times and positions of incoming ships in a container port. The problem is solved by optimizing the berth schedule so as to minimize concurrently the three objectives of makespan, waiting time, and degree of deviation from a predetermined priority schedule. These objectives represent the interests of both port and ship operators. Unlike most existing approaches in the literature which are single-objective-based, a multi-objective evolutionary algorithm (MOEA) that incorporates the concept of Pareto optimality is proposed for solving the multi-objective BAP. The MOEA is equipped with three primary features which are specifically designed to target the optimization of the three objectives. The features include a local search heuristic, a hybrid solution decoding scheme, and an optimal berth insertion procedure. The effects that each of these features has on the quality of berth schedules are studied.  相似文献

Heuristic techniques of optimization can be useful in designing complex experiments, such as microarray experiments. They have advantages over the traditional methods of optimization, particularly in situations where the search space is discrete. In this paper, a search procedure based on a genetic algorithm is proposed to find optimal (efficient) designs for both one- and multi-factor experiments. A genetic algorithm is a heuristic optimization method that exploits the biological evolution to obtain a solution of the problem. As an example, optimal designs for \(3\times 2\) factorial microarray experiments are presented for different numbers of arrays and for various sets of research questions. Comparisons between different operators of the genetic algorithm are performed by simulation studies.  相似文献

Relaxed correlation clustering (RCC) is a vertex partitioning problem that aims at minimizing the so-called relaxed imbalance in signed graphs. RCC is considered to be an NP-hard unsupervised learning problem with applications in biology, economy, image recognition and social network analysis. In order to solve it, we propose two linear integer programming formulations and a local search-based metaheuristic. The latter relies on auxiliary data structures to efficiently perform move evaluations during the search process. Extensive computational experiments on existing and newly proposed benchmark instances demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed approaches when compared to those available in the literature. While the exact approaches obtained optimal solutions for open problems, the proposed heuristic algorithm was capable of finding high quality solutions within a reasonable CPU time. In addition, we also report improving results for the symmetrical version of the problem. Moreover, we show the benefits of implementing the efficient move evaluation procedure that enables the proposed metaheuristic to be scalable, even for large-size instances.

Designing cost-effective telecommunications networks often involves solving several challenging, interdependent combinatorial optimization problems simultaneously. For example, it may be necessary to select a least-cost subset of locations (network nodes) to serve as hubs where traffic is to be aggregated and switched; optimally assign other nodes to these hubs, meaning that the traffic entering the network at these nodes will be routed to the assigned hubs while respecting capacity constraints on the links; and optimally choose the types of links to be used in interconnecting the nodes and hubs based on the capacities and costs associated with each link type. Each of these three combinatorial optimization problems must be solved while taking into account its impacts on the other two. This paper introduces a genetic algorithm (GA) approach that has proved effective in designing networks for carrying personal communications services (PCS) traffic. The key innovation is to represent information about hub locations and their interconnections as two parts of a chromosome, so that solutions to both aspects of the problem evolve in parallel toward a globally optimal solution. This approach allows realistic problems that take 4–10 hours to solve via a more conventional branch-and-bound heuristic to be solved in 30–35 seconds. Applied to a real network design problem provided as a test case by Cox California PCS, the heuristics successfully identified a design 10% less expensive than the best previously known design. Cox California PCS has adopted the heuristic results and plans to incorporate network optimization in its future network designs and requests for proposals.  相似文献

This paper focuses on the multi-objective resolution of a reentrant hybrid flow shop scheduling problem (RHFS). In our case the two objectives are: the maximization of the utilization rate of the bottleneck and the minimization of the maximum completion time. This problem is solved with a new multi-objective genetic algorithm called L-NSGA which uses the Lorenz dominance relationship. The results of L-NSGA are compared with NSGA2, SPEA2 and an exact method. A stochastic model of the system is proposed and used with a discrete event simulation module. A test protocol is applied to compare the four methods on various configurations of the problem. The comparison is established using two standard multi-objective metrics. The Lorenz dominance relationship provides a stronger selection than the Pareto dominance and gives better results than the latter. The computational tests show that L-NSGA provides better solutions than NSGA2 and SPEA2; moreover, its solutions are closer to the optimal front. The efficiency of our method is verified in an industrial field-experiment.  相似文献

An equilibrium network design (EQND) is a problem of finding the optimal design parameters while taking into account the route choice of users. This problem can be formulated as an optimization by taking the user equilibrium traffic assignment as a constraint. In this paper, the methods solving the EQND problem with signal settings are investigated via numerical calculations on two example road networks. An efficient algorithm is proposed in which improvement on a locally optimal search by combining the technique of parallel tangents with the gradient projection method is presented. As it shows, the method combines the locally optimal search and globally search heuristic achieved substantially better performance than did those other approaches.  相似文献

This paper addresses the flowshop scheduling problem with multiple performance objectives in such a way as to provide the decision maker with approximate Pareto optimal solutions. It is well known that the partial enumeration constructive heuristic NEH and its adaptations perform well for single objectives such as makespan, total tardiness and flowtime. In this paper, we develop a similar heuristic using the concept of Pareto dominance when comparing partial and complete schedules. The heuristic is tested on problems involving combinations of the above criteria. For the two-machine case, and the pairs of objectives: (i) makespan and maximum tardiness, (ii) makespan and total tardiness, the heuristic is compared with branch-and-bound algorithms proposed in the literature. For two and more than two machines, and the criteria combinations considered in this article, the heuristic performance is tested against constructive heuristics reported in the literature. By means of an illustrative example, it is shown that a genetic algorithm from the literature performs better when starting from heuristic solutions rather than random solutions.  相似文献

This paper examines the single-commodity network design problem with stochastic edge capacities. We characterize the structures of the optimal designs and compare with the deterministic counterparts. We do this partly to understand what constitutes robust network designs, but also to construct a heuristic for the stochastic problem, leading to optimality gaps of about 10%. In our view, that is a rather good result for problems that otherwise cannot be solved at all.  相似文献

Minimum Spanning Tree (MST) problem is of high importance in network optimization. The multi-criteria MST (mc-MST) is a more realistic representation of the practical problem in the real world, but it is difficult for the traditional network optimization technique to deal with. In this paper, a genetic algorithm (GA) approach is developed to deal with this problem. Without neglecting its network topology, the proposed method adopts the Prüfer number as the tree encoding and applies the Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) technique and nondominated sorting technique to make the GA search give out all Pareto optimal solutions either focused on the region near the ideal point or distributed all along the Pareto frontier. Compared with the enumeration method of Pareto optimal solution, the numerical analysis shows the efficiency and effectiveness of the GA approach on the mc-MST problem.  相似文献

This paper considers an integrated service network design problem for a given set of freight demands that is concerned with integration of locating cross-docking (CD) centers and allocating vehicles for the associated direct (transportation) services from origin node to a CD center or from a CD center to the destination node. For the vehicle allocation, direct services (sub-routes) should be determined for the given freight demands, and then the vehicle allocation has to be made in consideration of routing for the associated direct service fulfillment subject to vehicle capacity and service time restriction. The problem is modeled as a path-based formulation for which a tabu-search-based solution algorithm is proposed. To guarantee the performance of the proposed solution algorithm, strong valid inequalities are derived based on the polyhedral characteristics of the problem domain and an efficient separation heuristic is derived for identifying any violated valid inequalities. Computational experiments are performed to test the performance of the proposed solution algorithm and also that of a valid-inequality separation algorithm, which finds that the solution algorithm works quite well and the separation algorithm provides strengthened lower bounds. Its immediate application may be made to strategic (integrated) service network designs and to tactical service network planning for the CD network.  相似文献

This paper deals with a ring-mesh network design problem arising from the deployment of an optical transport network. The problem seeks to find an optimal clustering of traffic demands in the network such that the total cost of optical add-drop multiplexer (OADM) and optical cross-connect (OXC) is minimized, while satisfying the OADM ring capacity constraint, the node cardinality constraint, and the OXC capacity constraint. We formulate the problem as an integer programming model and propose several alternative modeling techniques designed to improve the mathematical representation of the problem. We then develop various classes of valid inequalities to tighten the mathematical formulation of the problem and describe an algorithmic approach that coordinates tailored routines with a commercial solver CPLEX. We also propose an effective tabu search procedure for finding a good feasible solution as well as for providing a good incumbent solution for the column generation based heuristic procedure that enhances the solvability of the problem. Computational results exhibit the viability of the proposed method.  相似文献

A parametric algorithm for identifying the Pareto set of a biobjective integer program is proposed. The algorithm is based on the weighted Chebyshev (Tchebycheff) scalarization, and its running time is asymptotically optimal. A number of extensions are described, including: a technique for handling weakly dominated outcomes, a Pareto set approximation scheme, and an interactive version that provides access to all Pareto outcomes. Extensive computational tests on instances of the biobjective knapsack problem and a capacitated network routing problem are presented.  相似文献
