Optical spectra of absorption and luminescence of LiNbO3:Yb3+ crystals are investigated experimentally and theoretically. Within the framework of the point charge approximation of crystal field, the Stark problem is solved: crystal field parameters and wave functions of Stark states are determined. Line strengths due to indirect electric-dipole and magnetic-dipole inter-Stark transitions are calculated and values of the Judd-Ofelt parameters are determined. Values of the branching ratios of luminescence. Einstein coefficients and, lifetime of the excited sublevel are calculated. A satisfactory agreement of calculated results with experimental data is obtained.  相似文献

The absorption spectra, photoconductivities and photovoltaic currents of LiNbO3:Fe crystals with different Mg doping levels and Li/Nb ratios in the oxidized state have been investigated at room temperature. The Fe2+ ions in LiNbO3:Mg:Fe with Mg content above a critical value are more easily oxidized than in crystals with Mg content below a critical value. The photoconductivity of LiNbO3:Mg:Fe crystals with Mg content above a critical value is one order of magnitude higher than those with Mg content below a critical value, however, the photovoltaic current of the former is one order of magnitude lower than the latter. The differences are postulated to be due to different sites of Fe in these two classes of crystals.  相似文献

对用助熔剂提拉法生长的近化学计量比LiNbO3晶体进行了激光显微拉曼光谱测试分析,与同成分LiNbO3晶体相比较,A1(TO)与E(TO)模的谱线数目、频率基本不变,验证了LiNbO3晶体属置换式固溶体的结论.738cm-1处拉曼振动峰(A1(LO)模)的相对强度随晶体中Li2O含量的增加发生了明显的变化,在两种掺杂晶体中,此振动峰已经消失.根据Li空位模型,从占位和结构上进行了分析讨论.在152和872cm-1处拉曼振动峰半高宽随晶体中Li/Nb的增大而变窄,对二者关系进行了线性拟合,利用拟合公式可根据拉曼振动峰半高宽计算晶体中的Li/Nb值. 关键词: 化学计量比 拉曼光谱 线性拟合 半高宽  相似文献

以同成分化学组分比(Li2O:48.6mol%,Nb2O5:51.4mol%)为原料,Nd2O3为掺杂剂,应用坩埚下降法技术,生长了Nd3+初始掺杂为0.2mol%的LiNbO3晶体。测定了晶体的差热曲线、红外吸收光谱、紫外-可见吸收光谱,并与用提拉法技术生长的晶体性质进行了比较。观测到了Nd3+的特征吸收峰。在800nm的半导体激光激发下研究了晶体在1.06μm附近的荧光曲线和荧光寿命,观测到了1067,1080,1085,1093,1106nm五个分裂的4F3/2→4I11/2能级跃迁发射峰。测定了最强荧光峰(1085nm)的荧光寿命为351μs。与用提拉法技术生长的晶体相比,其荧光寿命得到了大幅度的变长,约为3.5倍。在密封条件下用坩埚下降法技术生长的晶体,由于在生长过程中隔绝了空气和水汽,所以在获得的晶体中具有低的OH-离子浓度,获得了长的荧光寿命。  相似文献

We have investigated the basic spectroscopic properties of Cr3+-doped gallium garnets. Weak crystal fields (Dq/B=2.39–2.55) lead to broad4 T 24 A 2 fluorescence in the 700–950 nm range depending on the chemical composition of the crystals. At room temperature the4 T 24 A 2 transition is homogeneously broadened, whereas the 4 K spectra of the2 E4 A 2 transition show inequivalent Cr3+ sites and inhomogeneous linewidths of 8 cm–1 in these laser crystals. From 300 to 4 K, the oscillator strength of the4 T 24 A 2 transition is reduced by a factor of about 0.6 due to the temperature dependent electron phonon coupling. The transition probability of the2 E4 A 2 transition correlates with the energetic position of the4 T 2 level, which is admixed into the2 E level via spin-orbit coupling. The comparison of the2 E4 A 2 phonon sideband structure in garnets of different chemical compositions allows the assignment of some peaks to GaO4-tetrahedron modes of the garnet structure.  相似文献

Low-temperature luminescence spectra of stoichiometric Cr:LiNbO3, congruent Cr:LiNbO3 and congruent Cr,Mg:LiNbO3 were studied. Dominant low-field and minor high-crystal-field optical centers are the Cr3+ impurity ions that preferentially occupy Li+ sites (CrLi) in the Cr:LiNbO3 crystals. Low-field centers related to Cr3+ substitution of Nb5+ (CrNb) occur in addition to CrLi in co-doped Cr,Mg:LiNbO3 samples. Application of high hydrostatic pressure leads to the transformation of dominant Cr3+ centers from low- to high-field type due to strong pressure-induced blue shift of the 4 T 2 state, resulting in its crossing with the 2 E state of Cr3+. This level-crossing effect was observed for the dominant Cr3+ Li and Cr3+ Nb centers at pressures that correlate well with estimations based on the 4 T 2-2 Eenergy gap (230 cm-1 and 1160 cm-1) and on the rate of their pressure-induced change (14.35 and 11.4 cm-1/kbar, respectively). We also studied inhomogeneous broadeningof the 2 E?4 A 2transitions at ambient pressure for the minor high-field “defect” Cr3+ Li centers in congruent LiNbO3. A fine structure in the spectral response of these centers was observed. The obtained results are discussed on the basis of a microscopic hierarchic model for perturbed Cr3+ ions in the LiNbO3 lattice. Received: 25 June 2001 / Published online: 2 November 2001  相似文献

Lithium niobate (LiNbO3) crystals doped with chromium ions show a clear green colouring reflecting the absorption profile of the dominating [Cr]Li defect centres. A significant change in its colouration takes place when it is co-doped with other valency impurities such as Mg2+, Sc3+ and W6+, above a certain threshold concentration. This concentration singularity has been attributed to the formation of [Cr]Nb centres coexisting with the [Cr]Li centres.In this work, we extended the investigation on the effect of co-dopant ions in Cr:LiNbO3 to tetravalent cation such as GeO2. A singularity in the relative intensity of the 4A24T1 and 4A24T2 absorption band was observed for a concentration of ~1.5 mol%, compared with 4.5 mol% for Mg2+. The photoluminescence emission spectra also reveal a new emission band, at a lower energy than the [Cr]Li centre, corresponding to this threshold concentration. A charge compensation model is proposed to explain the role of cation impurities and results are compared with those of other valence impurities.  相似文献

We use holographic techniques for the investigation of strongly oxidized LiNbO3:Fe crystals with small Fe2+ concentrations and compare the results with theoretical predictions. Experimental evidence is presented for enhanced phase shifts between light intensity pattern and refractive index grating and for limitations of optically induced space charge fields in photovoltaic crystals due to the low concentration of filled traps. Our findings do not support the model of a nonlocal photovoltaic effect in LiNbO3.  相似文献

Light-induced absorption (LIA) in thermally reduced congruent and near-stoichiometric Er:LiNbO3 crystals, which have different cuts of crystal (X- and Y-cut) and different doping levels of Er3+ (0.2, 0.4, 0.6 and 1.0 mol %), has been studied within continuous-wave light intensity by using polarized 632.8 nm beam as probe light and polarized 488 nm beam as pump light. Effects of thermal reduction condition, pump intensity, Li/Nb ratio and Er-doping level on the LIA are summarized and discussed. Studies on spectral characteristics of both linear absorption and light-induced absorption show that photo-ionization of bipolarons into small polarons plays a predominant role in the LIA process. The role of the Er3+ ion in the LIA is investigated by studying the doping level and the thermal reduction effects on the absorption and emission properties of Er3+. The results show the possibility that the Er3+ ion directly participates in the light-induced charge transport is small. It affects the LIA only via the bypassing part of pump intensity to excite near-infrared emissions of Er3+. The thermaleffect on the LIA is demonstrated. A two-center model with inclusion of the thermal contribution can qualitatively explain two major LIA characteristics that include the appearance of a slow stage in the LIA procedure and the unsaturation behavior of the LIA coefficient in high pump intensity regime. In addition, the pump depletion effect on the LIA characteristics is discussed. The possibility of pump beam fanning arising from light-induced scattering is ruled out experimentally. Absorption and emission cross-sections are essential spectroscopic parameters that determine the performance of rare-earth solid state lasers and amplifiers. A precise characterization of such parameters is of great interest in order to proceed with the necessary optimization stage which will assure the development of photonic devices with high efficiency. In particular, in order to model Tm3+ infrared lasers under 800 nm pumping, the absorption and emission cross-sections associated with optical transitions involving the 3H4 and 3F4 manifolds are needed. Results of cooperative phenomena investigations in the impurity subsystem of lithium niobate crystals doped with Er3+ and co-doped with Yb3+ impurity ions under continuous wave and pulsed excitation at 975 nm and 1064 nm wavelengths are presented. Dependences of some spectroscopic characteristics on the intensity of laser pumping are studied.
