This paper presents an accurate numerical method for solving a class of fractional variational problems (FVPs). The fractional derivative in these problems is in the Caputo sense. The proposed method is called fractional Chebyshev finite difference method. In this technique, we approximate FVPs and end up with a finite‐dimensional problem. The method is based on the combination of the useful properties of Chebyshev polynomials approximation and finite difference method. The Caputo fractional derivative is replaced by a difference quotient and the integral by a finite sum. The fractional derivative approximation using Clenshaw and Curtis formula introduced here, along with Clenshaw and Curtis procedure for the numerical integration of a non‐singular functions and the Rayleigh–Ritz method for the constrained extremum, is considered. By this method, the given problem is reduced to the problem for solving a system of algebraic equations, and by solving this system, we obtain the solution of FVPs. Special attention is given to study the convergence analysis and evaluate an error upper bound of the obtained approximate formula. Illustrative examples are included to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the proposed technique. A comparison with another method is given. In this article, an implementation of an efficient numerical method for solving the linear fractional Klein–Gordon equation (LFKGE) is introduced. The fractional derivative is described in the Caputo sense. The method is based upon a combination between the properties of the Chebyshev approximations and finite difference method (FDM). The proposed method reduces LFKGE to a system of ODEs, which is solved using FDM. Special attention is given to study the convergence analysis and deduce an error upper bound of the proposed method. Numerical example is given to show the validity and the accuracy of the proposed algorithm. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this report, we consider two kind of general fractional variational problem depending on indefinite integrals include unconstrained problem and isoperimetric problem. These problems can have multiple dependent variables, multiorder fractional derivatives, multiorder integral derivatives and boundary conditions. For both problems, we obtain the Euler-Lagrange type necessary conditions which must be satisfied for the given functional to be extremum. Also, we apply the Rayleigh-Ritz method for solving the unconstrained general fractional variational problem depending on indefinite integrals. By this method, the given problem is reduced to the problem for solving a system of algebraic equations using shifted Legendre polynomials basis functions. An approximate solution for this problem is obtained by solving the system. We discuss the analytic convergence of this method and finally by some examples will be showing the accurately and applicability for this technique.  相似文献

The operational matrices of left Caputo fractional derivative, right Caputo fractional derivative, and Riemann–Liouville fractional integral, for shifted Chebyshev polynomials, are presented and derived. We propose an accurate and efficient spectral algorithm for the numerical solution of the two-sided space–time Caputo fractional-order telegraph equation with three types of non-homogeneous boundary conditions, namely, Dirichlet, Robin, and non-local conditions. The proposed algorithm is based on shifted Chebyshev tau technique combined with the derived shifted Chebyshev operational matrices. We focus primarily on implementing the novel algorithm both in temporal and spatial discretizations. This algorithm reduces the problem to a system of algebraic equations greatly simplifying the problem. This system can be solved by any standard iteration method. For confirming the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed scheme, we introduce some numerical examples with their approximate solutions and compare our results with those achieved using other methods.  相似文献

In this paper, we implement Chebyshev pseudo-spectral method for solving numerically system of linear and non-linear fractional integro-differential equations of Volterra type. The proposed technique is based on the new derived formula of the Caputo fractional derivative. The suggested method reduces this type of systems to the solution of system of linear or non-linear algebraic equations. We give the convergence analysis and derive an upper bound of the error for the derived formula. To demonstrate the validity and applicability of the suggested method, some test examples are given. Also, we present a comparison with the previous work using the homotopy perturbation method.  相似文献

This paper presents a computational method for solving a class of system of nonlinear singular fractional Volterra integro-differential equations. First, existences of a unique solution for under studying problem is proved. Then, shifted Chebyshev polynomials and their properties are employed to derive a general procedure for forming the operational matrix of fractional derivative for Chebyshev wavelets. The application of this operational matrix for solving mentioned problem is explained. In the next step, the error analysis of the proposed method is investigated. Finally, some examples are included for demonstrating the efficiency of the proposed method.  相似文献

In this paper, a composite Chebyshev finite difference method is introduced and is successfully employed for solving nonlinear optimal control problems. The proposed method is an extension of the Chebyshev finite difference scheme. This method can be regarded as a non-uniform finite difference scheme and is based on a hybrid of block-pulse functions and Chebyshev polynomials using the well-known Chebyshev–Gauss–Lobatto points. The convergence of the method is established. The nice properties of hybrid functions are then used to convert the nonlinear optimal control problem into a nonlinear mathematical programming one that can be solved efficiently by a globally convergent algorithm. The validity and applicability of the proposed method are demonstrated through some numerical examples. The method is simple, easy to implement and yields very accurate results.  相似文献

In this article, an $H^1$-Galerkin mixed finite element (MFE) method for solving the time fractional water wave model is presented. First-order backward Euler difference method and $L1$ formula are applied to approximate integer derivative and Caputo fractional derivative with order $1/2$, respectively, and $H^1$-Galerkin mixed finite element method is used to approximate the spatial direction. The analysis of stability for fully discrete mixed finite element scheme is made and the optimal space-time orders of convergence for two unknown variables in both $H^1$-norm and $L^2$-norm are derived. Further, some computing results for a priori analysis and numerical figures based on four changed parameters in the studied problem are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the current method  相似文献

Application of Chebyshev series to solve ordinary differential equations is described. This approach is based on the approximation of the solution to a given Cauchy problem and its derivatives by partial sums of shifted Chebyshev series. The coefficients of the series are determined by an iterative process using Markov quadrature formulas. It is shown that the proposed approach can be applied to formulate an approximate analytical method for solving Cauchy problems. A number of examples are considered to illustrate the obtaining of approximate analytical solutions in the form of partial sums of shifted Chebyshev series.  相似文献

In this study, we present a numerical scheme for solving a class of fractional partial differential equations. First, we introduce psi -Laguerre polynomials like psi-shifted Chebyshev polynomials and employ these newly introduced polynomials for the solution of space-time fractional differential equations. In our approach, we project these polynomials to develop operational matrices of fractional integration. The use of these orthogonal polynomials converts the problem under consideration into a system of algebraic equations. The solution of this system provide us the desired results. The convergence of the proposed method is analyzed. Finally, some illustrative examples are included to observe the validity and applicability of the proposed method.  相似文献

In this paper, we first construct the second kind Chebyshev wavelet. Then we present a computational method based on the second kind Chebyshev wavelet for solving a class of nonlinear Fredholm integro-differential equations of fractional order. The second kind Chebyshev wavelet operational matrix of fractional integration is derived and used to transform the equation to a system of algebraic equations. The method is illustrated by applications and the results obtained are compared with the existing ones in open literature. Moreover, comparing the methodology with the known technique shows that the present approach is more efficient and more accurate.  相似文献

This paper presents a numerical method for solving a class of fractional variational problems (FVPs) with multiple dependent variables, multi order fractional derivatives and a group of boundary conditions. The fractional derivative in the problem is in the Caputo sense. In the presented method, the given optimization problem reduces to a system of algebraic equations using polynomial basis functions. An approximate solution for the FVP is achieved by solving the system. The choice of polynomial basis functions provides the method with such a flexibility that initial and boundary conditions can be easily imposed. We extensively discuss the convergence of the method and finally present illustrative examples to demonstrate validity and applicability of the new technique.  相似文献

Summary The method of expanding the solution of linear ordinary differential equations in power or laurent series is classical, and is usually associated with the name of Frobenius. In the early days of electronic computation, it was appreciated that expansions in Chebyshev series are often of more practical use, and the necessary techniques developed by Clenshaw. (This is usually carried out in order to approximate special functions defined by ordinary differential equations, rather than as a technique for actually solving such equations in general, for which finite difference methods are to be preferred.) In this paper we show that by means of a conformal map the problem of expansion in Chebyshev series can in fact be reduced to that of expansion in a Laurent series, yielding a method which is usually computationally simpler. Moreoveer, the method can be generalised to the case of Faber expansions on regions of the complex plane. A non-trivial example is explored in order to illustrate the method, and we also use the technique to generalise an identity relating Chebyshev polynomials to the Faber case. This paper is dedicated to the memory of Prof. Peter Henrici, a mentor, collegue and friend who will be greatly missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him  相似文献

This paper presents an approximate method for solving a class of fractional optimization problems with multiple dependent variables with multi-order fractional derivatives and a group of boundary conditions. The fractional derivatives are in the Caputo sense. In the presented method, first, the given optimization problem is transformed into an equivalent variational equality; then, by applying a special form of polynomial basis functions and approximations, the variational equality is reduced to a simple linear system of algebraic equations. It is demonstrated that the derived linear system has a unique solution. We get an approximate solution for the initial optimization problem by solving the final linear system of equations. The choice of polynomial basis functions provides a method with such flexibility that all initial and boundary conditions of the problem can be easily imposed. We extensively discuss the convergence of the method and, finally, present illustrative test examples to demonstrate the validity and applicability of the new technique.  相似文献

In this paper, an efficient numerical method for solving the linear fractional Klein-Gordon equation (LFKGE) is introduced. The proposed method depends on the Galerkin finite element method (GFEM) using quadratic B-spline base functions and replaces the Caputo fractional derivative using $L2$ discretization formula. The introduced technique reduces LFKGE to a system of algebraic equations, which solved using conjugate gradient method. The study the stability analysis to the approximation obtained by the proposed scheme is given. To test the accuracy of the proposed method we evaluated the error norm $L_{2}$. It is shown that the presented scheme is unconditionally stable. Numerical example is given to show the validity and the accuracy of the introduced algorithm.  相似文献

An approximate method to solve the Cauchy problem for normal and canonical systems of second-order ordinary differential equations is proposed. The method is based on the representation of a solution and its derivative at each integration step in the form of partial sums of series in shifted Chebyshev polynomials of the first kind. A Markov quadrature formula is used to derive the equations for the approximate values of Chebyshev coefficients in the right-hand sides of systems. Some sufficient convergence conditions are obtained for the iterative method solving these equations. Several error estimates for the approximate Chebyshev coefficients and for the solution are given with respect to the integration step size.  相似文献

Fractional differential equations have recently been applied in various area of engineering, science, finance, applied mathematics, bio-engineering and others. However, many researchers remain unaware of this field. In this paper, an efficient numerical method for solving the fractional diffusion equation (FDE) is considered. The fractional derivative is described in the Caputo sense. The method is based upon Chebyshev approximations. The properties of Chebyshev polynomials are utilized to reduce FDE to a system of ordinary differential equations, which solved by the finite difference method. Numerical simulation of FDE is presented and the results are compared with the exact solution and other methods.  相似文献

The aim of this article is to present an analytical approximation solution for linear and nonlinear multi-order fractional differential equations (FDEs) by extending the application of the shifted Chebyshev operational matrix. For this purpose, we convert FDE into a counterpart system and then using proposed method to solve the resultant system. Our results in solving four different linear and nonlinear FDE, confirm the accuracy of proposed method.  相似文献

In this study, we propose an efficient and accurate numerical technique that is called the rational Chebyshev collocation (RCC) method to solve the two dimensional flow of a viscous fluid in the vicinity of a stagnation point named Hiemenz flow. The Navier-Stokes equations governing the flow, are reduced to a third-order ordinary differential equation of a boundary value problem with a semi-infinite domain by using similarity transformation. The rational Chebyshev method reduces this nonlinear ordinary differential equation to a system of algebraic equations. This technique is a powerful type of the collocation methods for solving the boundary value problems over a semi-infinite interval without truncating it to a finite domain. We also present the comparison of this work with others and show that the present method is more accurate and efficient.  相似文献

In this paper, an efficient and accurate computational method based on the Chebyshev wavelets (CWs) together with spectral Galerkin method is proposed for solving a class of nonlinear multi-order fractional differential equations (NMFDEs). To do this, a new operational matrix of fractional order integration in the Riemann–Liouville sense for the CWs is derived. Hat functions (HFs) and the collocation method are employed to derive a general procedure for forming this matrix. By using the CWs and their operational matrix of fractional order integration and Galerkin method, the problems under consideration are transformed into corresponding nonlinear systems of algebraic equations, which can be simply solved. Moreover, a new technique for computing nonlinear terms in such problems is presented. Convergence of the CWs expansion in one dimension is investigated. Furthermore, the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed method are shown on some concrete examples. The obtained results reveal that the proposed method is very accurate and efficient. As a useful application, the proposed method is applied to obtain an approximate solution for the fractional order Van der Pol oscillator (VPO) equation.  相似文献
