We show that, whenA generates aC-semigroup, then there existsY such that [M(C)] →YX, andA| Y , the restriction ofA toY, generates a strongly continuous semigroup, where ↪ means “is continuously embedded in” and ‖x[Im(C)]≡‖C −1 x‖. There also existsW such that [C(W)] →XW, and an operatorB such thatA=B| X andB generates a strongly continuous semigroup onW. If theC-semigroup is exponentially bounded, thenY andW may be chosen to be Banach spaces; in general,Y andW are Frechet spaces. If ρ(A) is nonempty, the converse is also true. We construct fractional powers of generators of boundedC-semigroups. We would like to thank R. Bürger for sending preprints, and the referee for pointing out reference [37]. Let (X,A) be a measureable space andT:XX a measurable mapping. Consider a family ℳ of probability measures onA which satisfies certain closure conditions. IfA 0A is a convergence class for ℳ such that, for everyAA 0, the sequence ((1/n) Σ i =0/n−1 1 A T i) converges in distribution (with respect to some probability measurev ∈ ℳ), then there exists aT-invariant element in ℳ. In particular, for the special case of a topological spaceX and a continuous mappingT, sufficient conditions for the existence ofT-invariant Borel probability measures with additional regularity properties are obtained.  相似文献

LetX be a real Banach space,UX a given open set,AX×X am-dissipative set andF:C(0,a;U) →L (0,a;X) a continuous mapping. Assume thatA generates a nonlinear semigroup of contractionsS(t): {ie221-2}) → {ie221-3}), strongly continuous at the origin, withS(t) compact for allt>0. Then, for eachu 0 ∈ {ie221-4}) ∩U there existsT ∈ ]0,a] such that the following initial value problem: (du(t))/(dt) ∈Au(t) +F(u)(t),u(0)=u 0, has at least one integral solution on [0,T]. Some extensions and applications are also included.  相似文献

We show that Hausdorff measures of different dimensions are not Borel isomorphic; that is, the measure spaces (ℝ, B, H s ) and (ℝ, B, H t ) are not isomorphic if st, s, t ∈ [0, 1], where B is the σ-algebra of Borel subsets of ℝ and H d is the d-dimensional Hausdorff measure. This answers a question of B. Weiss and D. Preiss. To prove our result, we apply a random construction and show that for every Borel function ƒ: ℝ → ℝ and for every d ∈ [0, 1] there exists a compact set C of Hausdorff dimension d such that ƒ(C) has Hausdorff dimension ≤ d. We also prove this statement in a more general form: If A ⊂ ℝn is Borel and ƒ: A → ℝm is Borel measurable, then for every d ∈ [0, 1] there exists a Borel set BA such that dim B = d·dim A and dim ƒ(B) ≤ d·dim ƒ (A). LetA andB be two reduced commutative rings with finitely many minimal prime ideals. If the polynomial algebrasA[X 1 …X n ]=B[Y 1 …Y n ] whereX i ,Y iF are variables overA andB respectively, then there exists an injective ring homomorphism ϕ:AB such thatB is finitely generated over ϕ(A).  相似文献

Let [A, a] be a normed operator ideal. We say that [A, a] is boundedly weak*-closed if the following property holds: for all Banach spaces X and Y, if T: XY** is an operator such that there exists a bounded net (T i ) iI in A(X, Y) satisfying lim i y*, T i x y*〉 for every xX and y* ∈ Y*, then T belongs to A(X, Y**). Our main result proves that, when [A, a] is a normed operator ideal with that property, A(X, Y) is complemented in its bidual if and only if there exists a continuous projection from Y** onto Y, regardless of the Banach space X. We also have proved that maximal normed operator ideals are boundedly weak*-closed but, in general, both concepts are different.   相似文献

Let X be a Banach space and suppose that A 1,…,A n are noncommuting (that is, not necessarily commuting) elements in ℒ(X), the space of bounded linear operators on X. Further, for each i∈{1,…,n}, let μ i be a continuous probability measure on ℬ([0,1]), the Borel class of [0,1]. Each such n-tuple of operator-measure pairs (A i ,μ i ), i=1,…,n, determines an operational calculus or disentangling map Tm1,...,mn{\mathcal{T}}_{\mu_{1},\dots,\mu_{n}} from a commutative Banach algebra \mathbbD(A1,...,An){\mathbb{D}}(A_{1},\dots,A_{n}) of analytic functions, called the disentangling algebra , into the noncommutative Banach algebra ℒ(X). The disentanglings are the central processes of Feynman’s operational calculi.  相似文献

It is shown that ifA andB are non-empty subsets of {0, 1} n (for somenεN) then |A+B|≧(|A||B|)α where α=(1/2) log2 3 here and in what follows. In particular if |A|=2 n-1 then |A+A|≧3 n-1 which anwers a question of Brown and Moran. It is also shown that if |A| = 2 n-1 then |A+A|=3 n-1 if and only if the points ofA lie on a hyperplane inn-dimensions. Necessary and sufficient conditions are also given for |A +B|=(|A||B|)α. The above results imply the following improvement of a result of Talagrand [7]: ifX andY are compact subsets ofK (the Cantor set) withm(X),m(Y)>0 then λ(X+Y)≧2(m(X)m(Y))α wherem is the usual measure onK and λ is Lebesgue measure. This also answers a question of Moran (in more precise terms) showing thatm is not concentrated on any proper Raikov system.  相似文献

Given 1≦p<∞ and a real Banach spaceX, we define thep-absolutely summing constantμ p(X) as inf{Σ i =1/m |x*(x i)|p p Σ i =1/mx ip p]1 p}, where the supremum ranges over {x*∈X*; ‖x*‖≤1} and the infimum is taken over all sets {x 1,x 2, …,x m} ⊂X such that Σ i =1/mx i‖>0. It follows immediately from [2] thatμ p(X)>0 if and only ifX is finite dimensional. In this paper we find the exact values ofμ p(X) for various spaces, and obtain some asymptotic estimates ofμ p(X) for general finite dimensional Banach spaces. This is a part of the author’s Ph.D. Thesis prepared at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, under the supervision of Prof. A. Dvoretzky and Prof. J. Lindenstrauss.  相似文献

UniversalC*-algebrasC*(A) exist for certain topological *-algebras called algebras with aC*-enveloping algebra. A Frechet *-algebraA has aC*-enveloping algebra if and only if every operator representation ofA mapsA into bounded operators. This is proved by showing that every unbounded operator representation π, continuous in the uniform topology, of a topological *-algebraA, which is an inverse limit of Banach *-algebras, is a direct sum of bounded operator representations, thereby factoring through the enveloping pro-C*-algebraE(A) ofA. Given aC*-dynamical system (G,A,α), any topological *-algebraB containingC c (G,A) as a dense *-subalgebra and contained in the crossed productC*-algebraC*(G,A,α) satisfiesE(B) =C*(G,A,α). IfG = ℝ, ifB is an α-invariant dense Frechet *-subalgebra ofA such thatE(B) =A, and if the action α onB ism-tempered, smooth and by continuous *-automorphisms: then the smooth Schwartz crossed productS(ℝ,B,α) satisfiesE(S(ℝ,B,α)) =C*(ℝ,A,α). WhenG is a Lie group, theC -elementsC (A), the analytic elementsC ω(A) as well as the entire analytic elementsC є(A) carry natural topologies making them algebras with aC*-enveloping algebra. Given a non-unitalC*-algebraA, an inductive system of idealsI α is constructed satisfyingA =C*-ind limI α; and the locally convex inductive limit ind limI α is anm-convex algebra with theC*-enveloping algebraA and containing the Pedersen idealK a ofA. Given generatorsG with weakly Banach admissible relationsR, we construct universal topological *-algebraA(G, R) and show that it has aC*-enveloping algebra if and only if (G, R) isC*-admissible.  相似文献

Let $ A $ A and ℬ be unital semisimple commutative Banach algebras. It is shown that if surjections S,T: $ A $ A → ℬ with S(1)=T(1)= 1 and α ∈ ℂ \ {0} satisfy r(S(a)T(b) − α)= r(abα) for all a,b ∈ $ A $ A , then S=T and S is a real algebra isomorphism, where r(a) is the spectral radius of a. Let I be a nonempty set, A and B be uniform algebras. Let ρ, τ: IA and S,T: IB be maps satisfying σ π (S(p)T(q)) ⊂ σ π (ρ(p) τ(q)) for all p,qI, where σ π (f) is the peripheral spectrum of f. Suppose that the ranges ρ(I), τ(I) ⊂ A and S(I),T(I) ⊂ B are closed under multiplication in a sense, and contain peaking functions “enough”. There exists a homeomorphism ϕ: Ch(B)→Ch(A) such that S(p)(y)= ρ(p)(ϕ(y)) and T(p)(y)= τ(p)(ϕ(y)) for every pI and y ∈ Ch(B), where Ch(A) is the Choquet boundary of A.  相似文献

We construct a totally disconnected ω*, norming subsetF of the unit ballB * of an arbitrary separable Banach space,X, and an operator fromC(F) toC(B*) that “amost” commutes with the natural embeddings ofX. This is used to give a new proof of Milutin's theorem and to prove some new results on complemented subspaces ofC[0, 1] with separable dual. In particular we show that a complemented subspace ofCω), is either isomorphic toCω) or toc u.  相似文献

Subcontinuity
We give interesting characterizations using subcontinuity. Let X, Y be topological spaces. We study subcontinuity of multifunctions from X to Y and its relations to local compactness, local total boundedness and upper semicontinuity. If Y is regular, then F is subcontinuous iff [`(F)]\bar F is USCO. A uniform space Y is complete iff for every topological space X and for every net {F a }, F a X × Y, of multifunctions subcontinuous at xX, uniformly convergent to F, F is subcontinuous at x. A Tychonoff space Y is Čech-complete (resp. G m-space) iff for every topological space X and every multifunction FX × Y the set of points of subcontinuity of F is a G δ -subset (resp. G m-subset) of X.  相似文献

LetA be a commutative Banach algebra with unit. Denote byX A, the global spectrum ofA. There is a holomorphic functional calculusθ A:O(X A)→A such thatθ A(a)=a. In this paper, we show the uniqueness of the global holomorphic functional calculus and we establish its compatibility with Banach algebra morphisms. We also extend this holomorphic functional calculus to the case ofImc algebras.   相似文献

A cover of a manifold X is called an r-cover if any r points of X belong to a set in the cover. Let X and Y be two smooth manifolds, let Emb(X, Y) be the family of smooth embeddings XY, let M be an Abelian group, and let F: Emb(X, Y) → M be a functional. One says that the degree of F does not exceed r if for each finite open r-cover {U i } iI ; of X there exist functionals F i : Emb(U i , Y) → M, iI, such that for each a ∈ Emb(X, Y) one has
F(a) = ?i ? I Fi( a| Ui ) F(a) = \sum\limits_{i \in I} {{F_i}\left( {a\left| {_{U_i}} \right.} \right)}  相似文献

Let T = (T(t))t≥0 be a bounded C-regularized semigroup generated by A on a Banach space X and R(C) be dense in X. We show that if there is a dense subspace Y of X such that for every x ∈ Y, σu(A, Cx), the set of all points λ ∈ iR to which (λ - A)^-1 Cx can not be extended holomorphically, is at most countable and σr(A) N iR = Ф, then T is stable. A stability result for the case of R(C) being non-dense is also given. Our results generalize the work on the stability of strongly continuous senfigroups.  相似文献
