We consider polynomial identities of group algebras over a field F of characteristic zero. We prove that any PI group algebra satisfies the same identities as a matrix algebra M n (F ), where n is the maximal degree of finite dimensional representations of the group over algebraic extensions of F.  相似文献

Abstract

Let 𝕂 be a field of characteristic zero, and R be a G-graded 𝕂-algebra. We consider the algebra R ? E, then deduce its G × ?2-graded polynomial identities starting from the G-graded polynomial identities of R. As a consequence, we describe a basis for the ? n  × ?2-graded identities of the algebras M n (E). Moreover we give the graded cocharacter sequence of M 2(E), and show that M 2(E) is PI-equivalent to M 1,1(E) ? E. This fact is a particular case of a more general result obtained by Kemer.  相似文献

Let F be an infinite field and let Mn(F) be the algebra of n×n matrices over F endowed with an elementary grading whose neutral component coincides with the main diagonal. In this paper, we find a basis for the graded polynomial identities of Mn(F) with the transpose involution. Our results generalize for infinite fields of arbitrary characteristic previous results in the literature, which were obtained for the field of complex numbers and for a particular class of elementary G-gradings.  相似文献

Let K be a field of characteristic zero. For a torsion-free finitely generated nilpotent group G, we naturally associate four finite dimensional nilpotent Lie algebras over K, ? K (G), grad(?)(? K (G)), grad(g)(exp ? K (G)), and L K (G). Let 𝔗 c be a torsion-free variety of nilpotent groups of class at most c. For a positive integer n, with n ≥ 2, let F n (𝔗 c ) be the relatively free group of rank n in 𝔗 c . We prove that ? K (F n (𝔗 c )) is relatively free in some variety of nilpotent Lie algebras, and ? K (F n (𝔗 c )) ? L K (F n (𝔗 c )) ? grad(?)(? K (F n (𝔗 c ))) ? grad(g)(exp ? K (F n (𝔗 c ))) as Lie algebras in a natural way. Furthermore, F n (𝔗 c ) is a Magnus nilpotent group. Let G 1 and G 2 be torsion-free finitely generated nilpotent groups which are quasi-isometric. We prove that if G 1 and G 2 are relatively free of finite rank, then they are isomorphic. Let L be a relatively free nilpotent Lie algebra over ? of finite rank freely generated by a set X. Give on L the structure of a group R, say, by means of the Baker–Campbell–Hausdorff formula, and let H be the subgroup of R generated by the set X. We show that H is relatively free in some variety of nilpotent groups; freely generated by the set X, H is Magnus and L ? ??(H) ? L ?(H) as Lie algebras. For relatively free residually torsion-free nilpotent groups, we prove that ? K and L K are isomorphic as Lie algebras. We also give an example of a finitely generated Magnus nilpotent group G, not relatively free, such that ??(G) is not isomorphic to L ?(G) as Lie algebras.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Let F m (N) be the free left nilpotent (of class two) Leibniz algebra of finite rank m, with m ≥ 2. We show that F m (N) has non-tame automorphisms and, for m ≥ 3, the automorphism group of F m (N) is generated by the tame automorphisms and one more non-tame IA-automorphism. Let F(N) be the free left nilpotent Leibniz algebra of rank greater than 1 and let G be an arbitrary non-trivial finite subgroup of the automorphism group of F(N). We prove that the fixed point subalgebra F(N) G is not finitely generated.  相似文献

In this paper we describe completely the involutions of the first kind of the algebra UTn(F) of n×n upper triangular matrices. Every such involution can be extended uniquely to an involution on the full matrix algebra. We describe the equivalence classes of involutions on the upper triangular matrices. There are two distinct classes for UTn(F) when n is even and a single class in the odd case.Furthermore we consider the algebra UT2(F) of the 2×2 upper triangular matrices over an infinite field F of characteristic different from 2. For every involution *, we describe the *-polynomial identities for this algebra. We exhibit bases of the corresponding ideals of identities with involution, and compute the Hilbert (or Poincaré) series and the codimension sequences of the respective relatively free algebras. Then we consider the *-polynomial identities for the algebra UT3(F) over a field of characteristic zero. We describe a finite generating set of the ideal of *-identities for this algebra. These generators are quite a few, and their degrees are relatively large. It seems to us that the problem of describing the *-identities for the algebra UTn(F) of the n×n upper triangular matrices may be much more complicated than in the case of ordinary polynomial identities.  相似文献

The semigroup of binary relations on {1,…, n} with the relative product is isomorphic to the semigroup B n of n × n zero-one matrices with the Boolean matrix product. Over any field F, we prove that the semigroup algebra FB n contains an ideal K n of dimension (2 n  ? 1)2, and we construct an explicit isomorphism of K n with the matrix algebra M 2 n ?1(F).  相似文献

Let L be a relatively free nilpotent Lie algebra over ? of rank n and class c, with n ≥ 2; freely generated by a set 𝒵. Give L the structure of a group, denoted by R, by means of the Baker–Campbell–Hausdorff formula. Let G be the subgroup of R generated by the set 𝒵 and N Aut(L)(G) the normalizer in Aut(L) of the set G. We prove that the automorphism group of L is generated by GL n (?) and N Aut(L)(G). Let H be a subgroup of finite index in Aut(G) generated by the tame automorphisms and a finite subset X of IA-automorphisms with cardinal s. We construct a set Y consisting of s + 1 IA-automorphisms of L such that Aut(L) is generated by GL n (?) and Y. We apply this particular method to construct generating sets for the automorphism groups of certain relatively free nilpotent Lie algebras.  相似文献

We study the growth of the central polynomials for the infinite dimensional Grassmann algebra G, and for the algebra Mk(F) of the k × k matrices, both over a field F of characteristic zero.  相似文献

We introduce degree n Sabinin algebras, which are defined by the polynomial identities up to degree n in a Sabinin algebra. Degree 4 Sabinin algebras can be characterized by the polynomial identities satisfied by the commutator, associator, and two quaternators in the free nonassociative algebra. We consider these operations in a free power associative algebra and show that one of the quaternators is redundant. The resulting algebras provide the natural structure on the tangent space at the identity element of an analytic loop for which all local loops satisfy monoassociativity, a 2 a ≡ aa 2. These algebras are the next step beyond Lie, Malcev, and Bol algebras. We also present an identity of degree 5 which is satisfied by these three operations but which is not implied by the identities of lower degree.  相似文献

Given a generalized Weyl algebra A of degree 1 with the base algebra D, we prove that the difference of the Gelfand–Kirillov dimension of A and that of D could be any positive integer or infinity. Under mild conditions, this difference is exactly 1. As applications, we calculate the Gelfand–Kirillov dimensions of various algebras of interest, including the (quantized) Weyl algebras, ambiskew polynomial rings, noetherian (generalized) down-up algebras, iterated Ore extensions, quantum Heisenberg algebras, universal enveloping algebras of Lie algebras, quantum GWAs, etc.  相似文献

We prove a strict relation between the Gelfand–Kirillov (GK) dimension of the relatively free (graded) algebra of a PI-algebra and its (graded) exponent. As a consequence we show a Bahturin–Zaicev type result relating the GK dimension of the relatively free algebra of a graded PI-algebra and the one of its neutral part. We also get that the growth of the relatively free graded algebra of a matrix algebra is maximal when the grading is fine. Finally we compute the graded GK dimension of the matrix algebra with any grading and the graded GK dimension of any verbally prime algebra endowed with an elementary grading.  相似文献

Using ideas of our recent work on automorphisms of residually nilpotent relatively free groups, we introduce a new growth function for subgroups of the automorphism groups of relatively free algebras Fn(V) over a field of characteristic zero and the related notion of Gelfand-Kirillov dimension, and study their behavior. We prove that, under some natural restrictions, the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension of the group of tame automorphisms of Fn(V) is equal to the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension of the algebra Fn(V). We show that, in some cases, the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension of the group of tame automorphisms of Fn(V) is smaller than the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension of the whole automorphism group, and calculate the Gelfand-Kirillov dimension of the automorphism group of Fn(V) for some important varieties V.Partially supported by Grant MM605/96 of the Bulgarian Foundation for Scientific Research.2000 Mathematics Subject Classification: primary 16R10, 16P90; secondary 16W20, 17B01, 17B30, 17B40  相似文献

Let D be an F-central division algebra of index n. Here we present a criterion for the triviality of the group G(D) = D*/Nrd D/F (D*)D′ and thus generalizing various related results published recently. To be more precise, it is shown that G(D) = 1 if and only if SK 1(D) = 1 and F *2 = F *2n . Using this, we investigate the role of some particular subgroups of D* in the algebraic structure of D. In this direction, it is proved that a division algebra D of prime index is a symbol algebra if and only if D* contains a non-abelian nilpotent subgroup. More applications of this criterion including the computation of G(D) and the structure of maximal subgroups of D* are also investigated  相似文献

Let c(x 1,?…?,?x d ) be a multihomogeneous central polynomial for the n?×?n matrix algebra M n (K) over an infinite field K of positive characteristic p. We show that there exists a multihomogeneous polynomial c 0(x 1,?…?,?x d ) of the same degree and with coefficients in the prime field 𝔽 p which is central for the algebra M n (F) for any (possibly finite) field F of characteristic p. The proof is elementary and uses standard combinatorial techniques only.  相似文献

Let B be a Galois algebra over a commutative ring R with Galois group G such that B H is a separable subalgebra of B for each subgroup H of G. Then it is shown that B satisfies the fundamental theorem if and only if B is one of the following three types: (1) B is an indecomposable commutative Galois algebra, (2) B = Re ⊕ R(1 ? e) where e and 1 ? e are minimal central idempotents in B, and (3) B is an indecomposable Galois algebra such that for each separable subalgebra A, V B (A) = ?∑ gG(A) J g , and the centers of A and B G(A) are the same where V B (A) is the commutator subring of A in B, J g  = {b ∈ B | bx = g(x)b for each x ∈ B} for a g ∈ G, and G(A) = {g ∈ G | g(a) = a for all a ∈ A}.  相似文献

For n even, we prove Pozhidaev's conjecture on the existence of associative enveloping algebras for simple n-Lie (Filippov) algebras. More generally, for n even and any (n + 1)-dimensional n-Lie algebra L, we construct a universal associative enveloping algebra U(L) and show that the natural map L → U(L) is injective. We use noncommutative Gröbner bases to present U(L) as a quotient of the free associative algebra on a basis of L and to obtain a monomial basis of U(L). In the last section, we provide computational evidence that the construction of U(L) is much more difficult for n odd.  相似文献
