Spline – projectors in BANACH spaces. A class of BANACH spaces is studied in which it is possible to construct explicitly spline – projectors. These projectors do not depend on the special HILBERT structure that is used for construction; therefore they are unique determined.  相似文献

Let G be a bounded locally compact Vilenkin group. We study the atomic decom‐position of weighted weak Hardy space. We also define several Calderón – Zygmund type operators and study their boundedness on, spaces like weighted Hardy spaces, weighted weak Hardy spaces and weighted weak Lebesgue spaces. By helping create a shared, supportive, learning community, the creative use of custom-designed spaces outside the classroom has a major impact on student engagement. The intention is to create spaces that promote peer interaction within and across year groups, encourage closer working relationships between staff and students and support specific coursework activities – particularly group work. Such spaces make better use of time since students are motivated to stay and work during long gaps in their timetable, can provide a sense of ‘home’ within the institution and can lead to a cohesive community of practice. In this paper, we describe how this has been achieved and currently delivered in Mathematics at Sheffield Hallam University and provide some detailed analysis of the student usage of the space.  相似文献

Abstract

In a homogeneous medium, the far field generated by a localized source can be expanded in terms of multipoles; the coefficients are determined by the moments of the localized charge distribution. We show that this structure survives to some extent for a random medium in the sense of quantitative stochastic homogenization: In three space dimensions, the effective dipole and quadrupole – but not the octupole – can be inferred without knowing the realization of the random medium far away from the (overall neutral) source and the point of interest. Mathematically, this is achieved by using the two-scale expansion to higher order to construct isomorphisms between the hetero- and homogeneous versions of spaces of harmonic functions that grow at a certain rate, or decay at a certain rate away from the singularity (near the origin); these isomorphisms crucially respect the natural pairing between growing and decaying harmonic functions given by the second Green’s formula. This not only yields effective multipoles (the quotient of the spaces of decaying functions) but also intrinsic moments (taken with respect to the elements of the spaces of growing functions). The construction of these rigid isomorphisms relies on a good (and dimension-dependent) control on the higher-order correctors and their flux potentials.  相似文献

Osculating spaces of decomposable scrolls (of any genus and not necessarily normal) are studied and their inflectional loci are related to those of their generating curves by using systematically an idea introduced by Piene and Sacchiero in the setting of rational normal scrolls. In this broader setting the extra components of the second discriminant locus – deriving from flexes – are investigated and a new class of uninflected surface scrolls is presented and characterized. In this paper we prove that the moduli spaces of framed vector bundles over a surface X, satisfying certain conditions, admit a family of Poisson structures parametrized by the global sections of a certain line bundle on X. This generalizes to the case of framed vector bundles previous results obtained in [B2] for the moduli space of vector bundles over a Poisson surface. As a corollary of this result we prove that the moduli spaces of framed SU(r) – instantons on S4 = ℝ4 ∪ {∞} admit a natural holomorphic symplectic structure.  相似文献

We give various characterizations for algorithmically random configurations on full shift spaces, based on randomness tests. We show that all nonsurjective cellular automata destroy randomness and surjective cellular automata preserve randomness. Furthermore all one-dimensional cellular automata preserve nonrandomness. The last three assertions are also true if one replaces randomness by richness – a form of pseudorandomness, which is compatible with computability. The last assertion is true even for an arbitrary dimension.  相似文献

In our paper we present a new system of equations describing a nonlocal model of propagation of heat with finite speed in three-dimensional space. Such a system of equations is described by a system of integral – differential equations. At first using the modiffied Cagniard de Hoop method, we construct the fundamental solution of this system of equations. On the basis of the constructed fundamental solution we obtain the explicite formulate of the solution of the Cauchy problem for this system of equations and applying the method of Sobolev and Biesov spaces, we get LpLq time decay estimate for the solution of the Cauchy problem. Betti numbers of configuration spaces of mechanical linkages (known also as polygon spaces) depend on a large number of parameters – the lengths of the bars of the linkage. Motivated by applications in topological robotics, statistical shape theory and molecular biology, we view these lengths as random variables and study asymptotic values of the average Betti numbers as the number of links n tends to infinity. We establish a surprising fact that for a reasonably ample class of sequences of probability measures the asymptotic values of the average Betti numbers are independent of the choice of the measure. The main results of the paper apply to planar linkages as well as for linkages in R 3. We also prove results about higher moments of Betti numbers. (© 2008 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Following his discovery that finite metric spaces have injective envelopes naturally admitting a polyhedral structure, Isbell, in his pioneering work on injective metric spaces, attempted a characterization of cellular complexes admitting the structure of an injective metric space. A bit later, Mai and Tang confirmed Isbell’s conjecture that a simplicial complex is injectively metrizable if and only if it is collapsible. Considerable advances in the understanding, classification and applications of injective envelopes have since been made by Dress, Huber, Sturmfels and collaborators, and most recently by Lang. Unfortunately a combination theory for injective polyhedra is still unavailable.Here we expose a connection to the duality theory of cubings –simply connected non-positively curved cubical complexes –which provides a more principled and accessible approach to Mai and Tang’s result, providing one with a powerful tool for systematic construction of locally-compact injective metric spaces:Main Theorem. Any complete pointed Gromov–Hausdorff limit of locally-finite piecewise-? cubings is injective. □This result may be construed as a combination theorem for the simplest injective polytopes, ?-parallelopipeds, where the condition for retaining injectivity is the combinatorial non-positive curvature condition on the complex. Thus it represents a first step towards a more comprehensive combination theory for injective spaces.In addition to setting the earlier work on injectively metrizable complexes within its proper context of non-positively curved geometry, this paper is meant to provide the reader with a systematic review of the results – otherwise scattered throughout the geometric group theory literature – on the duality theory and the geometry of cubings, which make this connection possible.  相似文献

We present a construction of “flat wavelet bases” adapted to the homogeneous Sobolev spaces ?s (?n ). They solve the problem of the phenomenon of infrared divergence which appears for usual wavelet expansions in ?s (?n ): these bases remove the divergence in the case sn /2 ? ? since they are also bases of the realization of ?s (?n ). How are the various classically equivalent definitions of compactness for metric spaces constructively interrelated? This question is addressed with Bishop‐style constructive mathematics as the basic system – that is, the underlying logic is the intuitionistic one enriched with the principle of dependent choices. Besides surveying today's knowledge, the consequences and equivalents of several sequential notions of compactness are investigated. For instance, we establish the perhaps unexpected constructive implication that every sequentially compact separable metric space is totally bounded. As a by‐product, the fan theorem for detachable bars of the complete binary fan proves to be necessary for the unit interval possessing the Heine‐Borel property for coverings by countably many possibly empty open balls. Császár generalized the uniform spaces, the proximity spaces and the topological spaces to syntopogenous spaces. Cook and Fischer generalized the uniform spaces to uniform limit spaces. Finally Marny generalized the proximity spaces to proximal limit spaces. Analogously we generalize the syntopogenous spaces to syntopoformic spaces (syntopogenous limit spaces). These spaces include all the above mentioned in a suitable sense. We extend some of the well-known results of compactness and completeness to syntopoformic spaces.  相似文献
