In this paper we investigate vector-valued parabolic initial boundary value problems , subject to general boundary conditions in domains G in with compact C 2m -boundary. The top-order coefficients of are assumed to be continuous. We characterize optimal L p -L q -regularity for the solution of such problems in terms of the data. We also prove that the normal ellipticity condition on and the Lopatinskii–Shapiro condition on are necessary for these L p -L q -estimates. As a byproduct of the techniques being introduced we obtain new trace and extension results for Sobolev spaces of mixed order and a characterization of Triebel-Lizorkin spaces by boundary data.   相似文献

In this paper, a new generalized second-order directional derivative and a set-valued generalized Hessian are introudced for C1,1 functions in real Banach spaces. It is shown that this set-valued generalized Hessian is single-valued at a point if and only if the function is twice weakly Gãteaux differentiable at the point and that the generalized second-order directional derivative is upper semi-continuous under a regularity condition. Various generalized calculus rules are also given for C1,1 functions. The generalized second-order directional derivative is applied to derive second-order necessary optirnality conditions for mathematical programming problems.  相似文献

Extended Linear-Quadratic Programming (ELQP) problems were introduced by Rockafellar and Wets for various models in stochastic programming and multistage optimization. Several numerical methods with linear convergence rates have been developed for solving fully quadratic ELQP problems, where the primal and dual coefficient matrices are positive definite. We present a two-stage sequential quadratic programming (SQP) method for solving ELQP problems arising in stochastic programming. The first stage algorithm realizes global convergence and the second stage algorithm realizes superlinear local convergence under a condition calledB-regularity.B-regularity is milder than the fully quadratic condition; the primal coefficient matrix need not be positive definite. Numerical tests are given to demonstrate the efficiency of the algorithm. Solution properties of the ELQP problem underB-regularity are also discussed.Supported by the Australian Research Council.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a generalization of the Hessian matrix toC 1,1 functions, i.e., to functions whose gradient mapping is locally Lipschitz. This type of function arises quite naturally in nonlinear analysis and optimization. First the properties of the generalized Hessian matrix are investigated and then some calculus rules are given. In particular, a second-order Taylor expansion of aC 1,1 function is derived. This allows us to get second-order optimality conditions for nonlinearly constrained mathematical programming problems withC 1,1 data.  相似文献

We study a multiobjective optimization program with a feasible set defined by equality constraints and a generalized inequality constraint. We suppose that the functions involved are Fréchet differentiable and their Fréchet derivatives are continuous or stable at the point considered. We provide necessary second order optimality conditions and also sufficient conditions via a Fritz John type Lagrange multiplier rule and a set-valued second order directional derivative, in such a way that our sufficient conditions are close to the necessary conditions. Some consequences are obtained for parabolic directionally differentiable functions and C 1,1 functions, in this last case, expressed by means of the second order Clarke subdifferential. Some illustrative examples are also given.  相似文献

Our main result is the construction of an embedding ofC(T2) into an approximately finite-dimensionalC *-algebra which induces an injection onK 0(C(T2)). The existence of this embedding implies that Cech cohomology cannot be extended to a stable, continuous homology theory forC *-algebras which admits a well-behaved Chern character. Homotopy properties ofC *-algebras are also considered. For example, we show that the second homotopy functor forC *-algebras is discontinuous. Similar embeddings are constructed for all the rational rotation algebras, with the consequence that none of the rational rotation algebras satisfies the homotopy property called semiprojectivity.  相似文献

Akemann showed that any von Neumann algebra with a weak* separable dual space has a faithful normal representation on a separable Hilbert space. He posed the question: If a C*-algebra has a weak* separable state space, must it have a faithful representation on a separable Hilbert space? Wright solved this question negatively and showed that a unital C*-algebra has the weak* separable state space if and only if it has a unital completely positive map, into a type I factor on a separable Hilbert space, whose restriction to the self-adjoint part induces an order isomorphism. He called such a C*-algebra almost separably representable. We say that a unital C*-algebra is small if it has a unital complete isometry into a type I factor on a separable Hilbert space. In this paper we show that a unital C*-algebra is small if and only if the state spaces of all n by n matrix algebras over the C*-algebra are weak*-separable. It is natural to ask whether almost separably representable algebras are small or not. We settle this question positively for simple C*-algebras but the general question remains open.  相似文献

We show that all rapid-decay locally compact groups are unimodular and that the set of rapid-decay functions on a locally compact rapidly decaying group forms a dense and spectral invariant Fréchet *-subalgebra of the reduced group C *-algebra. In general, the set of rapid-decay functions on a locally compact strongly rapid-decay group with values in a commutative C *-algebra forms a dense and spectral invariant Fréchet *-subalgebra of the twisted crossed product C *-algebra. The spectral invariance property implies that the K-theories of both algebras are naturally isomorphic under inclusion. This project is supported in part by the National Science Foundation Grant #DMS 92-04005.  相似文献

We consider coerciveness and Fredholmness of nonlocal boundary value problems for complete second order elliptic differential-operator equations in UMD Banach spaces. In some special cases, the main coefficients of the boundary conditions may be bounded operators and not only complex numbers. Then, we prove an isomorphism, in particular, maximal L p -regularity, of the problem with a linear parameter in the equation. In both cases, the boundary conditions may also contain unbounded operators in perturbation terms. Finally, application to regular nonlocal boundary value problems for elliptic equations of the second order in non-smooth domains are presented. Equations and boundary conditions may contain differential-integral parts. The spaces of solvability are Sobolev type spaces W p,q 2,2. We examine new second-order necessary conditions and sufficient conditions which characterize nondominated solutions of a generalized constrained multiobjective programming problem. The vector-valued criterion function as well as constraint functions are supposed to be from the class C 1,1. Second-order optimality conditions for local Pareto solutions are derived as a special case.  相似文献

Let (G, I, N, S) be an affine topological Tits system, and let Γ be a torsion-free cocompact lattice in G. This article studies the coinvariants H 0(Γ; C(Ω,Z)), where Ω is the Furstenberg boundary of G. It is shown that the class [1] of the identity function in H 0(Γ; C(Ω, Z)) has finite order, with explicit bounds for the order. A similar statement applies to the K 0 group of the boundary crossed product C *-algebra C(Ω)Γ. If the Tits system has type ? 2, exact computations are given, both for the crossed product algebra and for the reduced group C *-algebra.  相似文献

In this paper, from the Newton filtration’s point of view, we construct the singular Riemannian metric and use the method in singular theory to study the bifurcation problems, and give the sufficient condition of d-determination of bifurcation problems with respect to C 0 contact equivalence. The special cases of the main result in this paper are the results of Sun Weizhi and Zou Jiancheng.  相似文献

We construct a uniform approximation for generalized Hessian matrix of an SC 1 function. Using the discrete gradient and the extended second order derivative, we define the discrete Hessian matrix. We construct a sequence of sets, where each set is composed of discrete Hessian matrices. We first show some new properties of SC 1 functions. Then, we prove that for SC 1 functions the sequence of the set of discrete Hessian matrices is uniformly convergent to the generalized Hessian matrix.   相似文献

We will study some permanence properties of C*-unique groups in details. In particular, normal subgroups and extensions will be considered. Among other interesting results, we prove that every second countable amenable group with an injective finite-dimensional representation (not necessarily unitary) is a retract of a C*-unique group. Moreover, any amenable discrete group is a retract of a discrete C*-unique group.  相似文献

We present second-order subdifferentials of Clarke's type of C 1,1 functions, defined in Banach spaces with separable duals. One of them is an extension of the generalized Hessian matrix of such functions in n , considered by J. B. H.-Urruty, J. J. Strodiot and V. H. Nguyen. Various properties of these subdifferentials are proved. Second-order optimality conditions (necessary, sufficient) for constrained minimization problems with C 1,1 data are obtained. This work was partially supported by the National Foundation for Scientific Investigations in Bulgaria under contract No. MM-406/1994.  相似文献

Although every Cantor subset of the circle (S1) is the minimal set of some homeomorphism of S1, not every such set is minimal for a C1 diffeomorphism of S1. In this work, we construct new examples of Cantor sets in S1 that are not minimal for any C1-diffeomorphim of S1.  相似文献

In this paper, we present necessary optimality conditions for nondifferentiable minimax fractional programming problems. A new concept of generalized convexity, called (C, α, ρ, d)-convexity, is introduced. We establish also sufficient optimality conditions for nondifferentiable minimax fractional programming problems from the viewpoint of the new generalized convexity. When the sufficient conditions are utilized, the corresponding duality theorems are derived for two types of dual programs. This research was partially supported by NSF and Air Force grants  相似文献

Kasparov's bivariant K-theory is extended to inverse limits of C *-algebras. It is shown how to define the intersection product for algebras satisfying a separability condition and the properties of the product are explained. The Bott periodicity theorem is proved.  相似文献

Semiregular relative difference sets (RDS) in a finite group E which avoid a central subgroup C are equivalent to orthogonal cocycles. For example, every abelian semiregular RDS must arise from a symmetric orthogonal cocycle, and vice versa. Here, we introduce a new construction for central (p a , p a , p a , 1)-RDS which derives from a novel type of orthogonal cocycle, an LP cocycle, defined in terms of a linearised permutation (LP) polynomial and multiplication in a finite presemifield. The construction yields many new non-abelian (p a , p a , p a , 1)-RDS. We show that the subset of the LP cocycles defined by the identity LP polynomial and multiplication in a commutative semifield determines the known abelian (p a , p a , p a , 1)-RDS, and give a second new construction using presemifields. We use this cohomological approach to identify equivalence classes of central (p a , p a , p a , 1)-RDS with elementary abelian C and E/C. We show that for p = 2, a 3 and p = 3, a 2, every central (p a , p a , p a , 1)-RDS is equivalent to one arising from an LP cocycle, and list them all by equivalence class. For p = 2, a = 4, we list the 32 distinct equivalence classes which arise from field multiplication. We prove that, for any p, there are at least a equivalence classes of central (p a , p a , p a , 1)-RDS, of which one is abelian and a – 1 are non-abelian.  相似文献
