Range of the posterior probability of an interval over the -contamination class ={=(1–)0+q:qQ} is derived. Here, 0 is the elicited prior which is assumed unimodal, is the amount of uncertainty in 0, andQ is the set of all probability densitiesq for which =(1–)0+q is unimodal with the same mode as that of 0. We show that the sup (resp. inf) of the posterior probability of an interval is attained by a prior which is equal to (1–)0 except in one interval (resp. two disjoint intervals) where it is constant.  相似文献

Summary In this paper we consider the problem of holomorphic continuation and removal of singularities of the CR functions given on K, where is a generic manifold with nondegenerate Levi form and K is a meromorphically p-convex compactum. We get some conditions on , relative to p-convexity and q-concavity, under which every integrable CR function given on K extends holomorphically in some domain \K, where is a wedge domain with edge . It is shown that the following classes of functionsf, each defined on some subsetD of a fixed Hausdorff topological vector spaceE, are closed under the binary operation of infimal convolution: (a) the class of functionsf:D[–, ) having connectedstrict lower level sets; (b) the class of functionsf:D having compact connected lower level sets; and (c) the class of functionsf:D having compact lower level sets and for which every local minimizer is global. In (a),E need not be Hausdorff; while in (a) and (b), the word connected may be replaced by the word path-connected.  相似文献

Summary We show that symmetric -stable moving average processes are not harmonizable. However, we show that a concept of generalized spectrum holds for allL p -bounded processes O<p<-2. In capep=2, generalized spectrum is a measure and the classical representation follows. For strongly harmonizable symmetric -stable processes we derive necessary and sufficient conditions for the regularity and the singularity for 0<2, using known results on the invariant subspaces. We also get Cramér-Wold decomposition for the case 0<2.Supported by CPBP01. 02.Supported by ONR N00014-85-K-0150  相似文献

For any subset A of the unit sphere of a Banach space X and for [0,2) the notion of -flatness is introduced as a measure of non-flatness of A. For any positive , construction of locally finite tilings of the unit sphere by -flat sets is carried out under suitable -renormings of X in a quite general context; moreover, a characterization of spaces having separable dual is provided in terms of the existence of such tilings. Finally, relationships between the possibility of getting such tilings of the unit sphere in the given norm and smoothness properties of the norm are discussed.  相似文献

We study variational formulas for maximizers for domain functionalsF(x0, u(x0)), x0, and F(x,u(x))dxover all Lipschitz domains satisfying the constraintg(x) dx=1. Here, u is the solution ofa diffusion equation in . Functional variations arecomputed using domain variations which preserve the constraint exactly. Weshow that any maximizer solves a moving boundary problem for the diffusionequation. Further, we show that, for problems with symmetry, the optimaldomains are balls.  相似文献

The number of subgroups of type and cotype in a finite abelian p-group of type is a polynomialg with integral coefficients. We prove g has nonnegative coefficients for all partitions and if and only if no two parts of differ by more than one. Necessity follows from a few simple facts about Hall-Littlewood symmetric functions; sufficiency relies on properties of certain order-preserving surjections that associate to each subgroup a vector dominated componentwise by . The nonzero components of (H) are the parts of , the type of H; if no two parts of differ by more than one, the nonzero components of – (H) are the parts of , the cotype of H. In fact, we provide an order-theoretic characterization of those isomorphism types of finite abelian p-groups all of whose Hall polynomials have nonnegative coefficients.  相似文献

In this paper, we describe a method for extending (in some approximated sense) solutions of a nonlinear P.D.E. on a domain , to solutions in a domain containing . Such an extension property, the Runge property, is well known for a large class of linear problems including elliptic equations. We prove here the Runge property for semilinear problems of the kind -u+g(u)=f, with f L loc 1 (N). (As a consequence, we get infinitely many solutions for these problems). The proof is based on a homotopy method, and requires a refinement of the linear results: We prove that the Runge extension v on of a solution u in for a linear elliptic equation Lu=f can be choosen in order to depend continuously on u and the coefficients of L.  相似文献

This work is an attempt to give a complete survey of all known results about pseudo (v, k, )-designs. In doing this, the author hopes to bring more attention to his conjecture given in Section 6; an affirmative answer to this conjecture would settle completely the existence and construction problem for a pseudo (v, k, )-design in terms of the existence of an appropriate (v, k, )-design.  相似文献

Let f(l, t, n) be the maximal size of a family such that any l2 sets of have an exactly t1-element intersection. If l3, it trivially comes from [8] that the optimal families are trivially intersecting (there is a t-element core contained by all the members of the family). Hence it is easy to determine Let g(l,t,n) be the maximal size of an l-wise exaclty t-intersecting family that is not trivially t-intersecting. We give upper and lower bounds which only meet in the following case: g(3, 1, n) = n2/3(1 + o(1)).  相似文献

An abelian topological group is an group if and only if it is a locally -compactk-space and every compact subset in it is contained in a compactly generated locally compact subgroup. Every abelian groupG is topologically isomorphic to G 0 where 0 andG 0 is an abelian group where every compact subset is contained in a compact subgroup. Intrinsic definitions of measures, convolution of measures, measure algebra,L 1-algebra, Fourier transforms of abelian groups are given and their properties are studied.  相似文献

Let A be a set of positive integers with gcd (A) = 1, and let p A (n) be the partition function of A. Let c 0 = 2/3. If A has lower asymptotic density and upper asymptotic density , then lim inf log p A (n)/c 0 n and lim sup log p A (n)/c 0 n . In particular, if A has asymptotic density > 0, then log p A (n) c0n. Conversely, if > 0 and log p A (n) c 0 n, then the set A has asymptotic density .  相似文献

In engineering and economics often a certain vectorx of inputs or decisions must be chosen, subject to some constraints, such that the expected costs (or loss) arising from the deviation between the outputA() x of a stochastic linear systemxA()x and a desired stochastic target vectorb() are minimal. Hence, one has the following stochastic linear optimization problem minimizeF(x)=Eu(A()x b()) s.t.xD, (1) whereu is a convex loss function on m , (A(), b()) is a random (m,n + 1)-matrix, E denotes the expectation operator andD is a convex subset of n . Concrete problems of this type are e.g. stochastic linear programs with recourse, error minimization and optimal design problems, acid rain abatement methods, problems in scenario analysis and non-least square regression analysis.Solving (1), the loss functionu should be exactly known. However, in practice mostly there is some uncertainty in assigning appropriate penalty costs to the deviation between the outputA ()x and the targetb(). For finding in this situation solutions hedging against uncertainty a set of so-called efficient points of (1) is defined and a numerical procedure for determining these compromise solutions is derived. Several applications are discussed.  相似文献

We show that each sequentially continuous (with respect to the pointwise convergence) normed measure on a bold algebra of fuzzy sets (Archimedean MV-algebra) can be uniquely extended to a sequentially continuous measure on the generated ukasiewicz tribe and, in a natural way, the extension is maximal. We prove that for normed measures on ukasiewicz tribes monotone (sequential) continuity implies sequential continuity, hence the assumption of sequential continuity is not restrictive. This yields a characterization of the ukasiewicz tribes as bold algebras absolutely sequentially closed with respect to the extension of probabilities. The result generalizes the relationship between fields of sets and the generated -fields discovered by J. Novák. We introduce the category of bold algebras and sequentially continuous homomorphisms and prove that ukasiewicz tribes form an epireflective subcategory. The restriction to fields of sets yields the epireflective subcategory of -fields of sets.  相似文献

Let X and Y be locally compact-compact topological spaces, F X×Y is closed, and P(F) is the set of all Borel probability measures on F. For us to find, for the pair of probability measures (x, y P (XP(Y), a probability measure P(F) such that X = X –1 , Y = Y –1 it is necessary and sufficient that, for any pair of Borel sets A X, B Y for which (A× B) F=Ø, the condition XA+ YB 1 holds.Translated from Matematicheskie Zametki, Vol. 14, No. 4, pp. 573–576, October, 1973.  相似文献

A family of subtrees of a graphG whose edge sets form a partition of the edge set ofG is called atree decomposition ofG. The minimum number of trees in a tree decomposition ofG is called thetree number ofG and is denoted by(G). It is known that ifG is connected then(G) |G|/2. In this paper we show that ifG is connected and has girthg 5 then(G) |G|/g + 1. Surprisingly, the case wheng = 4 seems to be more difficult. We conjecture that in this case(G) |G|/4 + 1 and show a wide class of graphs that satisfy it. Also, some special graphs like complete bipartite graphs andn-dimensional cubes, for which we determine their tree numbers, satisfy it. In the general case we prove the weaker inequality(G) (|G| – 1)/3 + 1.  相似文献
