The enthalpies of combustion and formation of S-lactic acid at 298.15 K, Δc H mo(cr.) = −1337.9 ± 0.8 and Δf H mo(cr.) = −700.1 ± 0.9 kJ/mol, were determined by calorimetry. The temperature dependence of acid vapor pressure was studied by the transpiration method, and the enthalpy of its vaporization was obtained, Δvap H o(298.15 K) = 69.1 ± 1.0 kJ/mol. The temperature and enthalpy of fusion, T m (330.4 K) and Δm H o(298.15 K) = 14.7 ± 0.2 kJ/mol, were determined by differential scanning calorimetry. The enthalpy of formation of the acid in the gas phase was obtained. Ab initio methods were used to perform a conformational analysis of the acid, calculate fundamental vibration frequencies, moments of inertia, and total and relative energies of the stablest conformers. Thermodynamic properties were calculated in the ideal gas state over the temperature range 0–1500 K. A thermodynamic analysis of mutual transformation processes (the formation of SS- and RS(meso)-lactides from S-lactic acid and the racemization of these lactides) and the formation of poly-(RS)-lactide from S-lactic acid and SS- and RS(meso)-lactides was performed.  相似文献

The advantage of capillary electrophoresis was demonstrated for studying a complicated system owing to the dependence of direction and velocity of the electrophoretic movement on the charge of complex species. The stability constants of copper(II) complexes with ions of succinic acid were determined by capillary electrophoresis, including the 1?:?2 metal to ligand complexes which are rarely mentioned. The measurements were carried out at 25 °C and ionic strength of 0.1, obtained by mixing the solutions of succinic acid and lithium hydroxide up to pH 4.2–6.2. It was shown that while pH was more than 4.5 the zone of copper(II) complexes with succinate moves as an anion. It is impossible to treat this fact using only the complexes with a metal-ligand ratio of 1?:?1 (CuL0, CuHL+). The following values of stability constants were obtained: log β(CuL) = 2.89 ± 0.02, log β(CuHL+) = 5.4 ± 0.5, log β(CuL22?) = 3.88 ± 0.05, log β(CuHL2?) = 7.2 ± 0.3.  相似文献

The protonation of lactate has been studied in a variety of electrolyte solutions using microcalorimetry to reveal a distinct medium influence imposed on the thermochemistry of the equilibrium. The thermochemistry of lactate protonation, when studied directly in 1.0 mol⋅L−1 sodium lactate, agreed well with the studies performed in trifluoromethanesulfonate (triflate). This thermodynamic agreement suggests that the physical chemistry of lactate in the solutions applicable to the TALSPEAK process—a solvent extraction method for separating trivalent actinides from trivalent lanthanides within the scope of used nuclear fuel processing efforts—may be simulated in triflate solutions. Potentiometry, spectrophotometry and microcalorimetry have been subsequently used to study the thermodynamic features of neodymium and americium complexation by lactate using triflate as a strong background electrolyte. Three successive mononuclear lactate complexes were identified for Nd(III) and Am(III). The stability constants for neodymium, β 101=2.60±0.01, β 102=4.66±0.02 and β 103=5.6±0.1, and for americium, β 101=2.60±0.06, β 102=4.7±0.1 and β 103=6.2±0.2, were found to closely agree with the thermodynamic studies reported in sodium perchlorate solutions. Consequently, the thermodynamic medium effect, imposed on the TALSPEAK-related solution equilibria by the presence of strong background electrolytes such as NaClO4 and NaNO3, does not significantly impact the speciation in solution.  相似文献

Poly(3-hydroxybutyrate), PHB, has been structurally modified through reaction with hydroxy acids (HA) such as tartaric acid (TA) and malic acid (MA). The crystallization kinetic of the samples was evaluated by isoconversional method through nonlinear fitting to obtain the estimation for activation energy (E a ) and pre-exponential (A) values. The thermal behavior of the crystallization temperature, 44.8 and 58.9 °C at 5 °C/min, and results obtained to the average activation energy, 73 ± 9 kJ mol−1 and 63 ± 1 kJ mol−1, to PHB/MA and PHB, respectively, are suggesting that malic acid may be deriving plasticizer units from its own PHB chain. PHB/TA show increase in the medium value of E a, 119 ± 2 kJ mol−1 and T c = 48.2 °C (at 5 °C/min), indicating that tartaric acid is probably interacts in different way to the of PHB chain (E a=73 ± 9 kJ mol−1, T c = 44.8 °C at 5 °C/min).  相似文献

The energy of combustion of crystalline 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzoic acid in oxygen at T=298.15 K was determined to be -4795.9±1.3 kJ mol-1 using combustion calorimetry. The derived standard molar enthalpies of formation of 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzoic acid in crystalline and gaseous states at T=298.15 K, ΔfHm Θ (cr) and ΔfHm Θ (g), were -852.9±1.9 and -721.7±2.0 kJ mol-1, respectively. The reliability of the results obtained was commented upon and compared with literature values. This revised version was published online in August 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

The photophysical properties of bonellin, a free-base chlorin, were studied in ethanolic solution. For the singlet excited state the following data were determined: an energy level, EBS= 187 ± 2kJ mol-1, a lifetime, τf= 6.3± 0.1ns at 298 K, and fluorescence quantum yields, φr= 0.07 ± 0.02 (298 K) and 0.20 ± 0.04 (77 K). The S1→ T intersystem crossing quantum yield was φisc= 0.85 ± 0.1. No phosphorescence was observed at 298 K and 77 K. Based on quenching experiments the triplet state energy level was determined to be EBT= 180 ± 20 kJ mol-1. A unimolecular decay rate constant, k1= (2.3 ± 0.5)· 103 s-1 at room temperature, and a molar absorption coefficient, εT443= 9500 ± 500 M-1 cm-1, were obtained for the triplet state. This species was quenched by O2 with ko2= (1.7 ±0.3)· 108M-1 s-1, and by benzoquinone with kq= (5.2 ± 0.3)-109M-1 s-1. The latter value, as well as the high value determined for the triplet annihilation rate constant, k2= (2 ± 0.5)· 109M-1 s-1, might reflect an electron transfer mechanism. Copper bonellin had a shorter triplet lifetime (>20 ns), which offers a possible explanation for its lack of photodynamic action.  相似文献

Summary. (E)- and (Z)-Urocanic acids are endogenous chemicals in the normal mammalian skin. The first and the second thermodynamic dissociation constants (pK a1 and pK a2) of urocanic acid isomers were determined using UV spectrophotometry in aqueous solutions. The values with standard deviation (pK a1 = 3.43 ± 0.12 and pK a2 = 5.80 ± 0.04) and (pK a1 = 2.7 ± 0.3 and pK a2 = 6.65 ± 0.04) were obtained to (E)- and (Z)-urocanic acids, respectively. The second dissociations were studied also by potentiometric titration in aqueous sodium chloride solutions up to the isotonic salt concentration (0.154 mol dm−3), and the second thermodynamic dissociation constants as well as activity parameters for both isomers were determined at temperature 25°C and for (E)-urocanic acid also at 37°C. The obtained pK a2 values were close to those found by UV spectrophotometry. The equations for the calculation of the second stoichiometric dissociation constants of urocanic acid isomers on molality and molarity scale in aqueous sodium chloride solutions were derived. The obtained pK a1 and pK a2 values for (Z)-urocanic acid appear to be essentially lower than some previously reported values in literature. An erratum to this article is available at .  相似文献

The diamide N,N,N,N′-tetraoctyldiglycolamide (TODGA) was synthesized and characterized. The prepared TODGA was applied for extraction of Ce(III) from nitric acid solutions. The equilibrium studies included the dependencies of cerium distribution ratio on nitric acid, TODGA, nitrate ion, hydrogen ion and cerous ion concentrations. Analysis of the results indicates that the main extracted species is Ce(TODGA)2(NO3)3HNO3. The capacity of Ce loading is approximately 45 mmol/L for 0.1 M solution of TODGA in n-hexane. Finally, the thermodynamic parameters were calculated: K (25 °C) = 3.8 × 103, ΔH = −36.7 ± 1.0 kJ/mol, ΔS = −54.6 ± 3.0 J/K mol, and ΔG = −20.4 ± 0.1 kJ/mol.  相似文献

Polymorphism of paracetamol   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The thermodynamic relationship between crystal modifications of paracetamol was studied by alternative methods. Temperature dependence of saturated vapor pressure for polymorphic modifications of the drug paracetamol (acetaminophen) was mea sured and thermodynamic functions of the sublimation process calculated. Solution calorimetry was carried out for the two modifications in the same solvent. Thermodynamic parameters for sublimation for form I (monoclinic) were found: ΔG sub298=60.0 kJ mol−1; ΔH sub298=117.9±0.7 kJ mol−1; ΔS sub298=190±2 J mol−1 K−1. For the orthorhombic modification (form II), the saturated vapor pressure could only be studied at 391 K. Phase transition enthalpy at 298 K, ΔH tr298(I→II)=2.0±0.4 kJ mol−1, was derived as the difference between the solution enthalpies of the noted polymorphs in the same solution (methanol). Based on ΔH tr298 (I→II), differences between temperature dependencies of heat capacities of both modifications and the vapor pressure value of form II at 391 K, the temperature dependence of saturated vapor pressure and thermodynamic sublimation parameters for modification II were also estimated (ΔG sub298=56.1 kJ mol−1; ΔH sub298=115.9±0.9 kJ mol−1; ΔS sub298=200±3 J mol−1 K−1). The results indicate that the modifications are monotropically related, which is in contrast to findings recently reported found by classical thermochemical methods.

Methylmaleic (citraconic, CTA) acid and methylfumaric (measaconic, MSA) acid in aqueous sulfuric acid solution undergo bromine-catalyzed reversible cis-trans isomerization in the presence of ceric and bromide ions. The positional isomerization of CTA or MSA to itaconic acid (ITA) is not observed. The method of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was applied to study the kinetics of this catalyzed isomerization. The major catalytic species is best expressed as the Br?2 · radical anion. Under suitable catalytic conditions, there is a tendency for the [MSA]/[CTA] ratio to reach an equilibrium value of 4.10 at 25° for the CTA+Br?2 · ? MSA+Br?2 · reaction. Chloromaleic (CMA) and chlorofumaric (CFA) acids undergo similar isomerization with an equilibrium [CFA]/[CMA] ratio of 10.3 at 25°. The isomerization of maleic acid (MA) to fumaric acid (FA) is essentially irreversible with 50 as the lower limit of the equilibrium [FA]/[MA] ratio. The substituent has an important effect on the reversibility of this catalyzed isomerization of butenedicarboxylic acids. The thermodynamic parameters ΔH° and ΔS° at 25° for the CTA+Br?2 · ? MSA+Br?2 · reaction were found to be ?5.1±0.7 kj/mol and ?6.0±3.3 J/mol K, respectively. The present method gives a plausible way to measure the differences in enthalpy and entropy between the trans- and cis-isomers of butenedicarboxylic acids (CRCO2H=CR'CO2H) in aqueous solution.  相似文献

Kinetics of the reaction of F-atoms with trichloroacetic acid was studied at 293 K using a low-pressure flow reactor. Reactant concentrations were monitored by mass spectrometry combined with molecular beam sampling. The reaction rate constant obtained was k = (4.3 ± 0.8) × 10−11 cm3 molecule−1 s−1. This is an average value determined by the relative method employing four reference reactions of F-atoms: with 1,1,1-trichloroethane, ethanol, cyclohexane, and 2-fluoroethanol, for which rate constant ratios k/kref = 7.4 ± 1.2, 0.24 ± 0.02, 0.28 ± 0.02, and 0.34 ± 0.04, respectively, were obtained. The resultant rate constant is compared with the rate constants for the related fluoro-substituted acids.  相似文献

Nitrous acid is a key redox controlling factor, affecting the speciation of neptunium in the reprocessing of used nuclear fuel by solvent extraction. The kinetics of the reduction of neptunium(VI) by nitrous acid in solutions of nitric acid was investigated spectrophotometrically by the method of initial rates. The reaction is of first order with respect to Np(VI) while the order with respect to HNO2 is 1.20 ± 0.04. The reaction rate is almost inversely proportional to the hydrogen ion concentration (reaction order −0.92 ± 0.06), indicating that the reaction proceeds primarily through the reaction of neptunium(VI) with the nitrate anion. The experimental value of the rate constant k for the rate law −d[Np(VI)]/dt = k·[Np(VI)]·[HNO2]1.2/[H+] is of (0.159 ± 0.014) M−0.2 s−1 in I = 4 M and at 20 °C. The activation energy is (−57.3 ± 1.6) kJ/mol, which is in agreement with previous data on this reaction in perchloric acid.  相似文献

The heat capacities of chrysanthemic acid in the temperature range from 80 to 400 K were measured with a precise automatic adiabatic calorimeter. The chrysanthemic acid sample was prepared with the purity of 0.9855 mole fraction. A solid-liquid fusion phase transition was observed in the experimental temperature range. The melting point, T m, enthalpy and entropy of fusion, Δfus H m, Δfus S m, were determined to be 390.741±0.002 K, 14.51±0.13 kJ mol-1, 37.13±0.34 J mol-1 K-1, respectively. The thermodynamic functions of chrysanthemic acid, H (T)-H(298.15), S (T)-S(298.15) and G (T)-G (298.15) were reported with a temperature interval of 5 K. The TG analysis under the heating rate of 10 K min-1 confirmed that the thermal decomposition of the sample starts at ca. 410 K and terminates at ca. 471 K. The maximum decomposition rate was obtained at 466 K. The purity of the sample was determined by a fractional melting method. The three molal dissociation quotients for citric acid were measured potentiometrically with a hydrogen-electrode concentration cell from 5 to 150°C in NaCl solutions at ionic strengths of 0.1, 0.3, 0.6, and 1 molal. The molal dissociation quotients and available literature data at infinite dilution were fitted by empirical equations in the all-anionic form involving an extended Debye-Hückel term and up to five adjustable parameters involving functions of temperature and ionic strength. This treatment yielded the following thermodynamic quantitites for the first dissociation equilibrium at 25°C: logK 1a=−3.127±0.002, ΔH 1a o =4.1±0.2 kJ-mol−1, ΔS 1a o =−46.3±0.7 J-K−1-mol−1, and ΔCp 1a o =−162±7 J-K−1-mol−1; for the second acid dissociation equilibrium at 25°C: logK 2a =−4.759±0.001, ΔH 2a o =2.2±0.1, ΔS 2a o =−83.8±0.4, and ΔCp 2a o =−192±15, and for the third dissociation equilibrium at 25°C: logK 3a=−6.397±0.002, ΔH 3a o =−3.6±0.2, ΔS 3a o =−134.5±0.7, and ΔCp 3a o =−231±7.  相似文献

The presence of ceric and bromide ions catalyzes the isomerization of maleic acid (MA) to fumaric acid (FA) in aqueous sulfuric acid. A kinetic study of this bromine-catalyzed reaction was carried out. The reaction between ceric ion and maleic acid is first order with respect to Ce(IV). For [Ce(IV)]0=5.0×10?4 M, [H2SO4]0=1.2 M, μ=2.0 M (adjusted by NaClO4), and [MA]0=(0.5–1.0)M, the observed pseudo-first-order rate constant (k03) at 25° is k03=7.622×10?5 [MA]0/(1+0.205[MA]0). The reaction between ceric and bromide ions is first order with respect to Ce(IV). For [Ce(IV)]0=5.0×10?4 M, [H2SO4]0=1.2 M, μ=2.0 M, and [Br?]0=(0.025–0.150)M, the pseudo-first-order rate constant (k02) at 25° is k02= (4.313±0.095)x10?2[Br?]2+(2.060±0.119)x10?3[Br?]. The reaction of Ce(IV) with maleic acid and bromide ion is also first order with respect to Ce(IV). For [Ce(IV)]0=5.0×10?4 M, [MA]0=0.75 M, [H2SO4]0=1.2 M, μ=2.0 M, and [Br?]0= (0.025–0.150)M, the pseudo-first-order rate constant (k03) at 25° is k03= (5.286±0.045)x10?2[Br?]2+(3.568±0.056)x10?3[Br?]. For [Ce(IV)]0=5.0 × 10?4 M, [Br?]0=0.050 M, [H2SO4]0=1.2 M, μ=2.0 M, and [MA]0=(0.15–1.0)M at 25°, k03=(2.108×10?4+2.127×10?4[MA]0)/(1+0.205[MA]0). A mechanism is proposed to rationalize the results. The effect of temperature on the reaction rate was also studied. The energy barrier of Ce(IV)—Br? reaction is much less than that of Ce(IV)—MA reaction. Maleic and fumaric acids have very different mass spectra. The mass spectrum of fumaric acid exhibits a strong metastable peak at m/e 66.5.  相似文献

The host–guest interactions between phenazine hydrochloride salt (PheH+) and hemicucurbit[n]uril (n = 6 or 12) (HemiQ[6 or 12]) have been studied by 1H NMR, UV–vis, IR, mass spectrometry (MS) and quantum chemistry. In 1H NMR spectra, the broadening of proton resonances of the hosts suggests the interactions of PheH+ with HemiQs. The quantitative stabilities of the host–guest systems have been obtained by UV–vis titration experiments, that is, the stoichiometric interactions of PheH+ with HemiQ[6] have been observed with an association constant of Ka = (2.5 ± 1.2) × 106 L mol? 1, while the 2:1 ratio complexes of PheH+ with HemiQ[12] are formed with stepwise association constants of K1 = (9.2 ± 2.8) × 104 L mol? 1 and K2 = (6.4 ± 0.9) × 105 L mol? 1, respectively, which induce a total association constant of Ka = 5.9 × 1010 L2 mol? 2. Both the 1:1 and 2:1 complexes have been detected by MS. Quantum chemistry calculations have been used to understand the static structures and thermodynamic stabilities of the supramolecular assemblies.  相似文献

Potassium ferrate, K2FeO4(cr), has numerous promising environmental applications. An aqueous thermodynamic model applicable to high ionic strengths is essential for guiding its applications. In this study, a thermodynamic model is developed for the solubility of K2FeO4(cr) in aqueous alkali metal hydroxide solutions, from 283.15 to 333.15 K to high ionic strengths, up to saturation of KOH and NaOH, based on the Pitzer activity coefficient model for aqueous species. The solubility products for K2FeO4(cr) at infinite dilution in the temperature range from 283.15 to 333.15 K were obtained. Based on the thermodynamic solubility product of K2FeO4(cr) at 298.15 and its temperature dependence, in combination with thermodynamic properties for $ {\text{FeO}}_{4}^{2 - } $ FeO 4 2 ? and K+ from the literature, standard thermodynamic properties of K2FeO4(cr) at 298.15 K and 0.1 MPa (1 bar) are derived for the first time as follows: Δf G 0 = ?(896 ± 8) kJ·mol?1, Δf H 0 = ?(1026 ± 4) kJ·mol?1, and S 0 = (130 ± 17) J·mol?1·K?1. Using the above thermodynamic properties for K2FeO4(cr), the potential presence or preservation of K2FeO4(cr) in the Martian soils under the conditions relevant to Mars were quantitatively evaluated. Thermodynamic calculations pertaining to the Martian conditions indicate that the presence or preservation of K2FeO4(cr) as a strong oxidant in the Martian soils can be supported.  相似文献
