Cu/Al layered double hydroxide (LDH) can be used as a catalyst for important processes such as cross-coupling reactions. This property may be improved by adding palladium by either impregnation or intercalation. Therefore, the LDH matrix and its composites with Pd0 or [PdCl4]2? have been prepared. By powder X-ray diffraction, FT-infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric and elemental analysis it was determined the LDH formula Cu4Al2(OH)12CO3.4H2O, with malachite as the second phase. The LDH thermal decomposition occurs between 120 and 600 °C, having as intermediates the double oxi-hydroxide and the mixed oxide phases. At 800 °C the residue is composed of CuO and CuAl2O4. The composites were obtained employing [PdCl4]2? and Pd2(dba)3 as precursors, and the solvent choice for this process was shown to be of significant importance: the materials obtained using DMF had Pd impregnated in the surface, while the usage of water promoted the intercalation of [PdCl4]2? in the LDH matrix. The thermogravimetric analysis was able to distinguish the mode of supporting palladium between the composites being a reliable characterization for such task. 相似文献

Fe3O4 nanorods and Fe2O3 nanowires have been synthesized through a simple thermal oxide reaction of Fe with C2H2O4 solution at 200–600°C for 1 h in the air. The morphology and structure of Fe3O4 nanorods and Fe2O3 nanowires were detected with powder X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The influence of temperature on the morphology development was experimentally investigated. The results show that the polycrystals Fe3O4 nanorods with cubic structure and the average diameter of 0.5–0.8 μm grow after reaction at 200–500°C for 1 h in the air. When the temperature was 600°C, the samples completely became Fe2O3 nanowires with hexagonal structure. It was found that C2H2O4 molecules had a significant effect on the formation of Fe3O4 nanorods. A possible mechanism was also proposed to account for the growth of these Fe3O4 nanorods. Lanthanum chromite LaCrO3, an important catalyst and interconnect material used in solid oxide fuel cell was prepared from lanthanumtrisoxalatochromate(III) hydrate [LaCr(C2O4)3]·9H2O (LTCR) employing microwave heating technique. The compound LTCR heated in microwave heating system gave pure LaCrO3 at 500°C within one hour. However LTCR heated in silicon carbide furnace yielded LaCrO3 at 900°C. BET surface area of LaCrO3 prepared by microwave and conventional heating techniques were found to be 2.8 and 1.2 m2 g−1, respectively. Thermogravimetry, differential thermal analysis and X-ray diffraction techniques were used to optimize the conditions for the microwave processing of the precursor. 相似文献

Pure titania, zirconia, and mixed oxides (3–37 mol.% of ZrO2) are prepared using the sol-gel method and calcined at different temperatures. The calcined samples are characterized by Raman spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and nitrogen adsorption porosimetry. Measurements reveal a thermal stability of the titania anatase phase that slightly increases in the presence of 3–13 mol.% of zirconia. Practically, the titania anatase-rutile phase transformation is hindered during the temperature increase above 700°C. The mixed oxide with 37 mol.% of ZrO2 treated at 550°C shows a new single amorphous phase with a surface area of the nanoparticles double with respect to the other crystalline samples and the formed srilankite structure (at 700°C). The anatase phase is not observed in the sample containing 37 mol.% of ZrO2. The treatment at 700°C causes the formation of the srilankite (Ti0.63Zr0.37Ox) phase. 相似文献

The effect of calcination temperature on the state of the active component of iron-containing catalysts prepared by the impregnation of silica gel with a solution of FeSO4 and on their catalytic properties in selective H2S oxidation to sulfur was studied. With the use of thermal analysis, XPS, and Mössbauer spectroscopy, it was found that an X-ray amorphous iron-containing compound of complex composition was formed on the catalyst surface after thermal treatment in the temperature range of 400–500°C. This compound contained Fe3+ cations in three nonequivalent positions characteristic of various oxy and hydroxy sulfates and oxide and sulfate groups as anions. Calcination at 600°C led to the almost complete removal of sulfate groups; as a result, the formation of an oxide structure came into play, and it was completed by the production of finely dispersed iron oxide in the ?-Fe2O3 modification (the average particle size of 3.2 nm) after treatment at 900°C. As the calcination temperature was increased from 500 to 700°C, an increase in the catalyst activity in hydrogen sulfide selective oxidation was observed because of a change in the state of the active component. A comparative study of the samples by temperature-programmed sulfidation made it possible to establish that an increase in the calcination temperature leads to an increase in the stability of the iron-containing catalysts to the action of a reaction atmosphere. 相似文献

Yttrium orthoborate crystallizes in the vaterite-type structure and has two polymorphous forms, viz. a low- und a high temperature one. DTA measurements of YBO3 confirmed a reversible phase transition with a large thermal hysteresis. The phase transition has been accurately characterized by the application of different heating and cooling rates (β). Consequently, the extrapolation of the experimental data to zero β yields the transition points at 986.9°C for the heating up and at 596.5°C for the cooling down cycle. These values correspond to samples just after treatment at 1350°C. For samples with a different ‘thermal history’ other phase transition temperatures are observed, (e.g. after having performed several heating and cooling cycles). The linear relationship between the associated DTA signal ΔT=T onsetT offset and the square root of the heating rate β was confirmed, but the relation between T onset and square root of β is not found here. From the empirical data a good linear fitting between T onset and ln(β+1) can be derived. From the kinetic analysis (Kissinger method) of the phase transformation of YBO3 an apparent activation energy of about 1386 kJ mol–1 for heating and of about 568 kJ mol–1 for cooling can be determined 相似文献

Samples of a precursor for an aluminum oxide ceramics reinforced with zirconium oxide were synthesized by hydrolysis of various aluminum salts in the presence of a ZrO2 sol under conditions of urea decomposition at 90°C and pH < 4 maintained, with hydrolysis products deposited onto the surface of ZrO2 sol particles. It was found that the nature of a salt anion affects the interaction of hydrolysis products of the aluminum cation with the surface of ZrO2 sol particles. The structure of products formed in thermal treatment of samples of a precursor for Al2O3-ZrO2 (T = 1250°C) was characterized by X-ray phase analysis and scanning electron microscopy. The phase transition temperatures of the oxides Al2O3 and ZrO2 contained in the precursor were estimated using the results of thermal analysis of the samples in the temperature range 20–1300°C. 相似文献

The thermal decomposition of gallium nitrate hydrate (Ga(NO3)3·xH2O) to gallium oxide has been studied by TG/DTG and DSC measurements performed at different heating rates. It is concluded that 8 water molecules are present in the hydrate compound. The anhydrous gallium nitrate does not form at any temperature as the reaction consists of coupled dehydration/decomposition processes that occur with a mechanism dependent on heating rate. TG measurements performed with isothermal steps (between 31 and 115°C) indicate that Ga(OH)2NO3 forms in the first stage of the reaction. Such a compound undergoes further decomposition to Ga(OH)3 and Ga(NO3)O, compounds that then decompose respectively to Ga(OH)O and finally to Ga2O3 and directly to Ga2O3. Diffuse reflectance Fourier transform IR spectroscopy (DRIFTIR) has been of help in assessing that the reaction consists of parallel dehydration/decomposition processes. 相似文献

This paper describes the synthesis of ZrW2O8 by the use of an aqueous citrate-gel method in order to prepare a fine, pure and homogeneous oxide mixture suitable for ceramic processing. The thermal expansion coefficient thus obtained for α-ZrW2O8 is −10.6 × 10−6 °C−1 (50–125 °C) whereas for the β-ZrW2O8 a value of −3.2 × 10−6 °C−1 (200–300 °C) is obtained. The advantages of the use of a sol–gel method is expressed in the very homogeneous end-products. The paper describes crystallographic data, morphological structure and the thermal expansion properties of the ZrW2O8 material. Moreover, photoluminescence and photochromic properties specific to the precursor gel are described and analyzed. These effects support our views that the precursors show homogeneity up to nanometer level. 相似文献

Emanation thermal analysis (ETA) was used to characterize microstructure changes during heating of Mg–Al–CO3 layered double hydroxide (LDH) in the temperature range of 293–1473 K. It was confirmed by ETA that the formation of an intermediate phase with grafted CO32– anions in the hydroxide layers took place in the temperature range of 508–523 K and the formation of Mg–Al mixed oxide (MO) occurred in the range 623–773 K. The small peak of the emanation rate at 603 K indicated the degradation of the layered structure and the broad peak in the range of 1073–1273 K characterized the onset of the separation of the decomposition products of MO into MgO and Mg2Al4O7. The ETA results revealed that dehydration of the product with grafted CO32– anions occurred at lower temperatures than that of the initial Mg–Al–CO3 LDH. 相似文献

This work is focused on determination of the optimum firing temperature which leads to formation of the compounds LnFeO3 with good pigment-application properties (Ln=Gd, La, Yb, Tm, Lu). Based on results of thermal analysis the compounds were prepared by the solid-state reaction at temperature 900 and 1000°C. Colours of pigments vary depending on type of used lanthanoid (from light sienna to dark brown) and also on the type of precursor. Generally, the compounds prepared from iron oxide have more interesting color properties. Colour of these compounds is brighter and deeper. Increasing of the calcination temperature from 900 to 1000°C causes the darkening of colour. The most problably, the darkening is connected with partial reduction of Fe3+ to Fe2+. 相似文献

The thermal evolution of a slate rock sample (Berja, Almería, Spain) has been studied. The phase minerals identified in this sample were mica (illite), chlorite (clinochlore) and quartz as major components, with minor microcline, iron oxide and a mixed-layer or interstratified phase (montmorillonite-chlorite). This slate is highly silico-aluminous (48.33 mass% silica, 22.04 mass% alumina), and ca. 20 mass% of other elements, mainly Fe2O3 (8.35 mass%), alkaline-earths and alkaline oxides. Two main endothermic DTA effects, centered at 640 and 730°C, were observed. The more important contribution of total mass loss (7.15 mass%) was found between 500–900°C, with two DTG peaks detected at 630 and 725°C. All these effects were associated to the dehydroxylation of structural OH groups of 2:1 layered silicates mixed in the slate. The dehydroxylation of the layered silicates evidenced by dilatometry, produced a rapid increase of expansion between 600–800°C. The thermal evolution of the slate upper 800°C indicated the first sintering effects associated to shrinkage, which is also favoured by its low particle size (average 23 μm) and the presence of a liquid or vitreous phase as increasing the heating temperature. The application of thermal diffractometry to the slate sample allowed to study the formation of dehydroxylated crystalline phases from the layered silicates after heating. At 1000°C, β-quartz, dehydroxylated illite, iron oxide, relicts of microcline and the vitreous phase were present in the sample. All these results are interesting to know the thermal behaviour of a complex mineral mixture as identified in the slate. 相似文献

A new powder metallurgy technique was developed in order to increase the reinforcement proportion of aluminum with two different fractions of Al2O3. Aluminum powders were mixed with 20 % vol of alumina particles as primarily reinforcement, and additional alumina was produced in situ as a result of reaction between Al and additional 7.5 % vol of Fe2O3 powder. The three grades of powders were milled and hot-pressed into small preforms, and differential scanning analysis (DSC) was performed to determine the kinetics of microstructural transformations produced on heating. DSC curves were mathematically processed to separate the superposing effects of thermal reactions. Transformation points on resulting theoretical curves evidenced two distinct exothermal reaction peaks close to the melting point of aluminum that were correlated with formation of Fe–Al compounds and oxidation of aluminum. Microstructural investigations by means of SEM-EDX and XRD suggested that these exothermal reactions produced complete decomposition of iron (III) oxide and formation of Fe–Al compounds during sintering at 700 °C, and therefore, heating at higher temperatures would not be necessary. These results, along with calculation of activation energies, based on Kissinger’s method, could be used to optimize the fabrication of Al-Al2O3 composites by means of reactive sintering at moderate temperatures. 相似文献

Summary Titania-based photocatalytic materials were prepared by sol-gel method using Fe3+ and polyethyleneglycol (PEG600) as additives. Thermogravimetry (TG), differential thermal analysis (DTA) and evolved gas analysis (EGA) with MS detection were used to elucidate processes that take place during heating of Fe3+ containing titania gels. The microstructure development of the Fe2O3/TiO2 gel samples with and without PEG600 admixtures was characterized by emanation thermal analysis (ETA) under in situ heating in air. A mathematical model was used for the evaluation of ETA results. Surface area and porosity measurements of the samples dried at 120°C and the samples preheated for 1 h to 300 and 500°C were compared. From the XRD measurements it was confirmed that the crystallization of anatase took place after thermal heating up to 600°C. 相似文献

The surface of the spinel LiMn2O4 was coated with AlF3 by a chemical process to improve its electrochemical performance at high temperatures. The morphology and structure of the original and AlF3-coated LiMn2O4 samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscope (TEM). All the samples exhibited a pure cubic spinel structure without any impurities in the XRD patterns. It was found that the surfaces of the original LiMn2O4 samples were covered with a nanolayer AlF3 after the treatment. The charge/discharge of the materials were carried at 220 mA/g in the range of 3.0 and 4.4 V at 55°C. While the original LiMn2O4 showed 17.8% capacity loss in 50 cycles at 55°C, the AlF3-coated LiMn2O4 (118.1 mA h/g) showed only 3.4% loss of the initial capacity (122.3 mA h/g) at 55°C. It is obvious that the improvement in cycling performance of the coated-LiMn2O4 electrode at 55°C is attributed to the presence of AlF3 on the surface of LiMn2O4. The limited electrochemical stability and the flammability of the liquid electrolytes presently used in Li-ion batteries stimulates the search for alternatives including ceramic solid electrolytes. Moreover, solid electrolytes also fulfil crucial functions in various large-scale energy storage systems, e.g. as anode-protecting membranes in aqueous Li-air batteries. Here, the processing of the solid electrolytes Li7La3Zr2O12 is studied for applications in Li-air batteries. Molten salt method (MSM) was adopted previously on synthesis of simple oxides; to the best of our knowledge, we report for the first time the adaptation of the MSM to prepare this class of solid electrolytes. As a model compound, we prepared the garnet-related Li6.75La3Zr1.75Ta0.25O12. It has been prepared by using stoichiometric amounts of La2O3, ZrCl4, and Ta2O5 in excess 0.88 M LiNO3:0.12 M LiCl molten salt. Subsequently, samples were heated to various temperatures in the range 600–900 °C for 6 h in air in a recrystallized alumina crucible and finally washed with distilled water to remove excess salts. The obtained Li6.75La3Zr1.75Ta0.25O12 electrolyte powder was characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Raman, and impedance spectroscopy as well as surface area measurements. The cubic single phase was obtained for samples prepared at temperatures ≥700 °C. The effects of washing with water or aqueous LiOH solution on the structure and conductivity of the phases will be discussed. 相似文献

The formation of variable-thickness CeO2 nanoparticle mesoporous films from a colloidal nanoparticle solution (approximately 1–3-nm-diameter CeO2) is demonstrated using a layer-by-layer deposition process with small organic binder molecules such as cyclohexanehexacarboxylate and phytate. Film growth is characterised by scanning and transmission electron microscopies, X-ray scattering and quartz crystal microbalance techniques. The surface electrochemistry of CeO2 films before and after calcination at 500 °C in air is investigated. A well-defined Ce(IV/III) redox process confined to the oxide surface is observed. Beyond a threshold potential, a new phosphate phase, presumably CePO4, is formed during electrochemical reduction of CeO2 in aqueous phosphate buffer solution. The voltammetric signal is sensitive to (1) thermal pre-treatment, (2) film thickness, (3) phosphate concentration and (4) pH. The reversible ‘underpotential reduction’ of CeO2 is demonstrated at potentials positive of the threshold. A transition occurs from the reversible ‘underpotential region’ in which no phosphate phase is formed to the irreversible ‘overpotential region’ in which the formation of the cerium(III) phosphate phase is observed. The experimental results are rationalised based on surface reactivity and nucleation effects. 相似文献

Pure TiO2 and S-doped TiO2 sol–gel nanopowders were prepared by controlled hydrolysis-condensation of titanium alkoxides. The influence of different Ti-alkoxides (tetraethyl-, tetraisopropyl- and tetrabutyl-orthotitanate) used in obtaining TiO2 porous materials in similar conditions (water/alkoxide ratio, solvent/alkoxide ratio, pH and temperature of reaction) has been investigated. The relationship between the synthesis conditions and the properties of titania nanosized powders, such as thermal stability, phase composition, crystallinity, morphology and size of particles, BET surface area and the influence of dopant was investigated. The nature of the alkyl group strongly influences the main characteristics of the obtained oxide powders, fact which is pointed out by thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction, TEM and BET surface area measurements. 相似文献

The solid-state synthesis of undoped K0.5Na0.5NbO3 (KNN) and KNN doped with 1, 2 and 6 mol% Sr, from potassium, sodium and strontium carbonates with niobium pentoxide, was studied using thermal analysis and in situ high-temperature X-ray diffraction (HT-XRD). The thermogravimetry and the differential thermal analyses with evolved-gas analyses showed that the carbonates, which were previously reacted with the moisture in the air to form hydrogen carbonates, partly decomposed when heated to 200 °C. In the temperature interval where the reaction was observed, i.e., between 200 and 750 °C, all the samples exhibited the main mass loss in two steps. The first step starts at around 400 °C and finishes at 540 °C, and the second step has an onset at 540 °C and finishes with the end of the reaction between 630 and 675 °C, depending on the particle size distribution of the Nb2O5 precursor. According to the HT-XRD analysis, the perovskite phase is formed at 450 °C for all the samples, regardless of the Sr content. The formation of a polyniobate phase with a tetragonal tungsten bronze structure was detected by HT-XRD in the KNN with the largest amount of Sr dopant, i.e., 6 mol% of Sr, at 600 °C. 相似文献
