Absolute rate coefficients for the gas‐phase reactions of trans‐dichloroethene and trichloroethene with O(3P) atoms have been measured at 298 K using a discharge flow tube coupled to a chemiluminescence detection system. The observed rate constant values are (2.2 ± 0.4) × 10?13 and (1.4 ± 0.2) × 10?13 cm3 molecule?1 s?1, respectively. The experiments were carried out under pseudo‐first‐order conditions with [O(3P)]o ? [alkene]o. These results are compared to those of O atom reactions with other chloroethenes and with different electrophiles, such as OH and NO3. Different factors that affect the rate of addition to the double bond are considered. The rate constants for these reactions do not correlate in a simple manner with the experimental ionization potential, as is the case in the alkene and methyl‐substituted alkene reactions. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The kinetics of the gas‐phase reactions of O3 with a series of selected terpenes has been investigated under flow‐tube conditions at a pressure of 100 mbar synthetic air at 295 ± 0.5 K. In the presence of a large excess of m‐xylene as an OH radical scavenger, rate coefficients k(O3+terpene) were obtained with a relative rate technique, (unit: cm3 molecule?1 s?1, errors represent 2σ): α‐pinene: (1.1 ± 0.2) × 10?16, 3Δ‐carene: (5.9 ± 1.0) × 10?17, limonene: (2.5 ± 0.3) × 10?16, myrcene: (4.8 ± 0.6) × 10?16, trans‐ocimene: (5.5 ± 0.8) × 10?16, terpinolene: (1.6 ± 0.4) × 10?15 and α‐terpinene: (1.5 ± 0.4) × 10?14. Absolute rate coefficients for the reaction of O3 with the used reference substances (2‐methyl‐2‐butene and 2,3‐dimethyl‐2‐butene) were measured in a stopped‐flow system at a pressure of 500 mbar synthetic air at 295 ± 2 K using FT‐IR spectroscopy, (unit: cm3 molecule?1 s?1, errors represent 2σ ): 2‐methyl‐2‐butene: (4.1 ± 0.5) × 10?16 and 2,3‐dimethyl‐2‐butene: (1.0 ± 0.2) × 10?15. In addition, OH radical yields were found to be 0.47 ± 0.04 for 2‐methyl‐2‐butene and 0.77 ± 0.04 for 2,3‐dimethyl‐2‐butene. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The kinetics of the reaction of O3 with the aromatic vicinal diols 1,2‐benzenediol, 3‐methyl‐1,2‐benzenediol, and 4‐methyl‐1,2‐benzenediol have been investigated using a relative rate technique. The rate coefficients were determined in a 1080‐L smog chamber at 298 K and 1 atm total pressure of synthetic air using propene and 1,3‐butadiene as reference compounds. The following O3 reaction rate coefficients (in units of cm3 molecule?1 s?1) have been obtained: k(1,2‐benzenediol) = (9.60 ± 1.12) × 10?18, k(3‐methyl‐1,2‐benzenediol) = (2.81 ± 0.23) × 10?17, k(4‐methyl‐1,2‐benzenediol) = (2.63 ± 0.34) × 10?17. Absolute measurements of the O3 rate coefficient have also been carried out by measuring the decay of the dihydroxy compound in an excess of O3. The results from these experiments are in good agreement with the relative determinations. Atmospheric implications are discussed. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The rate constants for the gas‐phase reactions of three deuterated toluenes with hydroxyl radicals were measured using the relative rate technique over the temperature range 298–353 K at about 1 atm total pressure. The OH radicals were generated by photolysis of H2O2, and helium was used as the diluent gas. The disappearance of reactants was followed by online mass spectrometry, which resulted in high time resolution, allowing for a large amount of data to be collected and used in the determination of the Arrhenius parameters. The following Arrhenius expressions have been determined for these reactions (in units of cm3 molecule?1 s?1): k=(6.42?0.99+1.17)×10?13exp [(661±54)/T] for toluene‐d3, k=(2.11?0.69+1.03)×10?12exp [(287±128)/T]for toluene‐d5, and k=(1.40+0.44?0.33)×10?12exp [(404±88)/T]for toluene‐d8. The kinetic isotope effects (KIEs, kH/kD) of these reactions were 1.003 ± 0.042 for all three compounds at 298 K. The KIE for toluene‐d3 was temperature dependent; at 350 K, its KIE was 1.122+0.048?0.046. The KIE of toluene‐d5 and toluene‐d8 did not vary significantly with temperature. These KIE results suggest that methyl H‐atom abstraction is more important than aromatic OH addition at higher temperatures. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Kinetics of the substitution reaction of solvent molecule in uranyl(VI) Schiff base complexes by tri‐n‐butylposphine as the entering nucleophile in acetonitrile at 10–40°C was studied spectrophotometrically. The second‐order rate constants for the substitution reaction of the solvent molecule were found to be (8.8 ± 0.5) × 10?3, (5.3 ± 0.2) × 10?3, (7.5 ± 0.3) × 10?3, (6.1 ± 0.3) × 10?3, (13.5 ± 1.6) × 10?3, (13.2 ± 0.9) × 10?3, (52.9 ± 0.2) × 10?3, and (88.1 ± 0.6) × 10?3 M?1 s?1 at 40°C for [UO2(Schiff base)(CH3CN)], where Schiff base = L1–L8, respectively. In a temperature dependence study, the activation parameters ΔH# and ΔS# for the reaction of uranyl complexes with PBu3 were determined. From the linear rate dependence on the concentration of PBu3, the span of k2 values and the large negative values of the activation entropy, an associative (A) mechanism is deduced for the solvent substitution. By comparing the second‐order rate constants k2, it was concluded that the steric and the electronic properties of the complexes were important for the rate of the reactions.  相似文献

The rate constants and activation energies for the reactions of some thiophenes with the NO3 radical were measured using the absolute fast‐flow discharge technique at 263–335 K and low pressure. The proposed Arrhenius expressions for 2‐ethylthiophene, 2‐propylthiophene, 2,5‐dimethylthiophene, and 2‐chlorothiophene are k = (4.2 ± 0.28) ×10?16 exp[(2280 ± 70)]/T, k = (7.0 ± 2) × 10?18 exp[(3530 ± 70)]/T, k = (1 ± 1) × 10?14 exp[(1648 ± 240)]/T, and k = (8 ± 2) × 10?17 exp[(2000 ± 200)]/T (k = cm3 molecule?1 s?1), respectively. The reactions of this radical with 2‐chlorothiophene and 3‐chlorothiophene were also studied by a relative method in a Teflon static reactor at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. The effect of substitution on thiophene reactivity is discussed, and a relationship between the rate constants and the ionization potential (IP = ?EHOMO) has been proposed. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Absolute rate coefficients for the gas‐phase reactions of CF2?CFCl and (E/Z)‐CFCl?CFCl with O(3P) atoms have been measured at 298 K using a discharge flow tube coupled to a chemiluminescence detection system. The observed rate constant values are (4.5 ± 0.4) × 10?13 and (1.5 ± 0.3) × 10?13 cm3 molecule?1 s?1, respectively. The experiments were carried out under pseudo‐first‐order conditions with [O(3P)]0 ? [alkene]0. These results are compared to those of O atom reactions with other chlorine‐ and fluorine‐substituted ethenes. Different factors that affect the rate of addition to the double bond are considered. The O(3P)/chloroethenes reactions do not obey the reactivity trend with the ionization potential, as is the case in the alkene and methyl‐substituted alkene reactions. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Laser flash photolysis combined with competition kinetics with SCN? as the reference substance has been used to determine the rate constants of OH radicals with three fluorinated and three chlorinated ethanols in water as a function of temperature. The following Arrhenius expressions have been obtained for the reactions of OH radicals with (1) 2‐fluoroethanol, k1(T) = (5.7 ± 0.8) × 1011 exp((?2047 ± 1202)/T) M?1 s?1, (2) 2,2‐difluoroethanol, k2(T) = (4.5 ± 0.5) × 109 exp((?855 ± 796)/T) M?1 s?1, (3) 2,2,2‐trifluoroethanol, k3(T) = (2.0 ± 0.1) × 1011 exp((?2400 ± 790)/T) M?1 s?1, (4) 2‐chloroethanol, k4(T) = (3.0 ± 0.2) × 1010 exp((?1067 ± 440)/T) M?1 s?1, (5) 2, 2‐dichloroethanol, k5(T) = (2.1 ± 0.2) × 1010 exp((?1179 ± 517)/T) M?1 s?1, and (6) 2,2,2‐trichloroethanol, k6(T) = (1.6 ± 0.1) × 1010 exp((?1237 ± 550)/T) M?1 s?1. All experiments were carried out at temperatures between 288 and 328 K and at pH = 5.5–6.5. This set of compounds has been chosen for a detailed study because of their possible environmental impact as alternatives to chlorofluorocarbon and hydrogen‐containing chlorofluorocarbon compounds in the case of the fluorinated alcohols and due to the demonstrated toxicity when chlorinated alcohols are considered. The observed rate constants and derived activation energies of the reactions are correlated with the corresponding bond dissociation energy (BDE) and ionization potential (IP), where the BDEs and IPs of the chlorinated ethanols have been calculated using quantum mechanical calculations. The errors stated in this study are statistical errors for a confidence interval of 95%. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Chem Kinet 40: 174–188, 2008  相似文献

The rate coefficients for the reaction OH + CH3CH2CH2OH → products (k1) and OH + CH3CH(OH)CH3 → products (k2) were measured by the pulsed‐laser photolysis–laser‐induced fluorescence technique between 237 and 376 K. Arrhenius expressions for k1 and k2 are as follows: k1 = (6.2 ± 0.8) × 10?12 exp[?(10 ± 30)/T] cm3 molecule?1 s?1, with k1(298 K) = (5.90 ± 0.56) × 10?12 cm3 molecule?1 s?1, and k2 = (3.2 ± 0.3) × 10?12 exp[(150 ± 20)/T] cm3 molecule?1 s?1, with k2(298) = (5.22 ± 0.46) × 10?12 cm3 molecule?1 s?1. The quoted uncertainties are at the 95% confidence level and include estimated systematic errors. The results are compared with those from previous measurements and rate coefficient expressions for atmospheric modeling are recommended. The absorption cross sections for n‐propanol and iso‐propanol at 184.9 nm were measured to be (8.89 ± 0.44) × 10?19 and (1.90 ± 0.10) × 10?18 cm2 molecule?1, respectively. The atmospheric implications of the degradation of n‐propanol and iso‐propanol are discussed. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Chem Kinet 42: 10–24, 2010  相似文献

The gas‐phase reactions of the NO3 radical with 2‐methylthiophene, 3‐methylthiophene, and 2,5‐dimethylthiophene have been studied, using relative and absolute methods at 298 K. Determination of relative rate was performed using Teflon collapsible bag as the reaction chamber and gas chromatography as the analytical tool. For the absolute method, experiments were carried out using fast‐flow‐discharge technique with detection of NO3 by laser‐induced fluorescence. The temperature dependence was studied by the absolute technique for the reactions of NO3 with 2‐methylthiophene and 3‐methylthiophene in the range 263–335 K. Gas‐phase reactions of ozone with two butenes (1‐butene and isobutene) and two methyl‐substituted butenes (2‐methyl‐1‐butene and 3‐methyl‐1‐butene) have been studied in an indoor chamber at 295–351 K. The O3 concentrations were monitored by Model 49C‐Ozone analyzer. The butene concentrations were measured by gas chromatography–flame ionization detector. The Arrhenius expressions of k=3.50×10?15e(?1756±84)/T cm3 molecule?1 s?1, k=3.39×10?15e(?1697±52)/T cm3 molecule?1 s?1, k=6.18×10?15e?(1822±80)/T cm3 molecule?1 s?1, and k=7.24×10?14e?(2741±139)/T cm3 molecule?1 s?1 were obtained for the ozonolysis reactions of 1‐butene, isobutene, 2‐methyl‐1‐butene, and 3‐methyl‐1‐butene, respectively. Both the reaction rate constant and activation energy obtained in this work are in good agreement with those reported by using different techniques in the literature. © 2011 Wiley Peiodicals, Inc. Binaphthyl‐based crown ethers incorporating anthraquinone, benzoquinone, and 1,4‐dimethoxybezene have been synthesized and tested for Rb+ selective ionophores in the poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) membrane. The membrane containing NPOE gave a better Rb+ selectivity than those containing either DOA or BPPA as a plasticizer. The response was linear within the concentration range of 1.0×10?5–1.0×10?1 M and the slope was 54.7±0.5 mV/dec. The detection limit was determined to be 9.0×10?6 M and the optimum pH range of the membrane was 6.0–9.0. The ISE membrane exhibits good selectivity for Rb+ over ammonium, alkali metal, and alkaline earth metal ions. Selectivity coefficients for the other metal ions, log KPot were ?2.5 for Li+, ?2.4 for Na+, ?2.0 for H+, ?1.0 for K+, ?1.2 for Cs+, ?1.6 for NH4+, ?4.5 for Mg2+, ?5.0 for Ca2+,?4.9 for Ba2+. The lifetime of the membrane was about one month.  相似文献

Rate coefficients have been determined for the gas‐phase reaction of the hydroxyl (OH) radical with the aromatic dihydroxy compounds 1,2‐dihydroxybenzene, 1,2‐dihydroxy‐3‐methylbenzene and 1,2‐dihydroxy‐4‐methylbenzene as well as the two benzoquinone derivatives 1,4‐benzoquinone and methyl‐1,4‐benzoquinone. The measurements were performed in a large‐volume photoreactor at (300 ± 5) K in 760 Torr of synthetic air using the relative kinetic technique. The rate coefficients obtained using isoprene, 1,3‐butadiene, and E‐2‐butene as reference hydrocarbons are kOH(1,2‐dihydroxybenzene) = (1.04 ± 0.21) × 10−10 cm3 s−1, kOH(1,2‐dihydroxy‐3‐methylbenzene) = (2.05 ± 0.43) × 10−10 cm3 s−1, kOH(1,2‐dihydroxy‐4‐methylbenzene) = (1.56 ± 0.33) × 10−10 cm3 s−1, kOH(1,4‐benzoquinone) = (4.6 ± 0.9) × 10−12 cm3 s−1, kOH(methyl‐1,4‐benzoquinone) = (2.35 ± 0.47) × 10−11 cm3 s−1. The kinetics of reactions of OH radical with n‐heptane and n‐hexane over a temperature range of 240–340K has been investigated using the relative rate combined with discharge flow/mass spectrometry (RR/DF/MS) technique. The rate constant for the reaction of OH radical with n‐heptane was measured with both n‐octane and n‐nonane as references. At 298K, these rate constants were determined to be k1, octane = (6.68 ± 0.48) × 10?12 cm3 molecule?1 s?1 and k1, nonane = (6.64 ± 1.36) × 10?12 cm3 molecule?1 s?1, respectively, which are in very good agreement with the literature values. The rate constant for reaction of n‐hexane with the OH radical was determined to be k2 = (4.95 ± 0.40) × 10?12 cm3 molecule?1 s?1 at 298K using n‐heptane as a reference. The Arrhenius expression for these chemical reactions have been determined to be k1, octane = (2.25 ± 0.21) × 10?11 exp[(?293 ± 37)/T] and k2 = (2.43 ± 0.52) × 10?11 exp[(?481.2 ± 60)/T], respectively. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The reactions of the biogenic organic compounds isoprene and 2‐methyl‐3‐buten‐2‐ol (MBO) with ozone have been investigated under controlled conditions for pressure (atmospheric pressure) and temperature (293 ± 2 K), using FTIR spectrometry. CO was added to scavenge hydroxyl radical formation during the ozonolysis experiments. Reaction rate constants were determined by absolute rate technique, by measuring both ozone and the organic compound concentrations. The measured values were k1 = (1.19 ± 0.09) × 10?17 cm3 molecule?1 s?1 for the reaction between ozone and isoprene and k2 = (8.3 ± 1.0) × 10?18 cm3 molecule?1 s?1 for the reaction between ozone and MBO. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The relative rate technique has been used to determine the rate constants for the reactions Cl + CH3OCHCl2 → products and Cl + CH3OCH2CH2Cl → products. Experiments were carried out at 298 ± 2 K and atmospheric pressure using nitrogen as the bath gas. The decay rates of the organic species were measured relative to those of 1,2‐dichloroethane, acetone, and ethane. Using rate constants of (1.3 ± 0.2) × 10?12 cm3 molecule?1 s?1, (2.4 ± 0.4) × 10?12 cm3 molecule?1 s?1, and (5.9 ± 0.6) × 10?11 cm3 molecule?1 s?1 for the reactions of Cl atoms with 1,2‐dichloroethane, acetone, and ethane respectively, the following rate coefficients were derived for the reaction of Cl atoms (in units of cm3 molecule?1 s?1) with CH3OCHCl2, k= (1.04 ± 0.30) × 10?12 and CH3OCH2CH2Cl, k= (1.11 ± 0.20) × 10?10. Errors quoted represent two σ, and include the errors due to the uncertainties in the rate constants used to place our relative measurements on an absolute basis. The rate constants obtained are compared with previous literature data and used to estimate the atmospheric lifetimes for the studied ethers. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The bimolecular channels of the ClO self‐reaction, although negligible under stratospheric conditions, become significant above ambient temperature. The kinetics of two of the three bimolecular channels of the ClO self‐reaction, ClO + ClO → Cl2 + O2 (1b) and ClO + ClO → OClO + Cl (1d), were studied at T = 298–323 K and at ambient pressure (patm≈ 760 ± 10 Torr). Radicals were generated via laser photolysis and monitored using UV absorption spectroscopy. The inclusion of charge‐coupled device (CCD) detection allowed broadband monitoring of the radicals of interest along with the temporal resolution of their concentrations. Accurate and unequivocal quantification of the structured absorbers (ClO and OClO) was obtained via differential fitting procedures. The Arrhenius expressions obtained are k1b = 2.9?1.8+4.4 × 10?14exp[?(283 ± 282)/T] cm3 molecule?1 s?1 and k1d = 7.2?6.1+39 × 10?15exp[?(225 ± 574)/T] cm3 molecule?1 s?1, where the errors are 1σ. The temperature dependences obtained in this work for both channels monitored are considerably less pronounced than those reported by Nickolaisen et al. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The rate coefficients for the reactions of OH with ethane (k1), propane (k2), n-butane (k3), iso-butane (k4), and n-pentane (k5) have been measured over the temperature range 212–380 K using the pulsed photolysis-laser induced fluorescence (PP-LIF) technique. The 298 K values are (2.43±0.20) × 10?13, (1.11 ± 0.08) × 10?12, (2.46 ± 0.15) × 10?12, (2.06 ± 0.14) × 10?12, and (4.10 ± 0.26) × 10?12 cm3 molecule?1 s?1 for k1, k2, k3, k4, and k5, respectively. The temperature dependence of k1 and k2 can be expressed in the Arrhenius form: k1 = (1.03 ± 0.07) × 10?11 exp[?(1110 ± 40)/T] and k2 = (1.01 ± 0.08) × 10?11 exp[?(660 ± 50)/T]. The Arrhenius plots for k3k5 were clearly curved and they were fit to three parameter expressions: k3 = (2.04 ± 0.05) × 10?17 T2 exp[(85 ± 10)/T] k4 = (9.32 ± 0.26) × 10?18 T2 exp[(275 ± 20)/T]; and k5 = (3.13 ± 0.25) × 10?17 T2 exp[(115 ± 30)/T]. The units of all rate constants are cm3 molecule?1 s?1 and the quoted uncertainties are at the 95% confidence level and include estimated systematic errors. The present measurements are in excellent agreement with previous studies and the best values for atmospheric calculations are recommended. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

A new PVC membrane potentiometric sensor for Ag(I) ion based on a recently synthesized calix[4]arene compound of 5,11,17,23‐tetra‐tert‐butyl‐25,27‐dihydroxy‐calix[4]arene‐thiacrown‐4 is developed. The electrode exhibits a Nernstian response for Ag(I) ions over a wide concentration range (1.0×10?2?1.0×10?6 M) with a slope of 53.8±1.6 mV per decade. It has a relatively fast response time (5–10 s) and can be used for at least 2 months without any considerable divergence in potentials. The proposed electrode shows high selectivity towards Ag+ ions over Pb2+, Cd2+, Co2+, Zn2+, Cu2+, Ni2+, Sr2+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Li+, K+, Na+, NH4+ ions and can be used in a pH range of 2–6. Only interference of Hg2+ is found. It is successfully used as an indicator electrode in potentiometric titration of a mixture of chloride, bromide and iodide ions.  相似文献

The rate constants for the reactions of OH with dimethyl ether (k1), diethyl ether (k2), di-n-propyl ether (k3), di-isopropyl ether (k4), and di-n-butyl ether (k5) have been measured over the temperature range 230–372 K using the pulsed laser photolysis-laser induced fluorescence (PLP-LIF) technique.
