The Lewis acid cyclohexylbis(pentafluorophenyl)boron 1, which exhibits about 15% lower Lewis acidity in comparison with B(C(6)F(5))(3), activates H(2) in the presence of the bulky Lewis bases 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine (TMP), 1,2,2,6,6-pentamethylpiperidine (PMP), tri-tert-butylphosphine (t-Bu(3)P) leading in facile reactions at room temperature to heterolytic splitting of dihydrogen and formation of the salts [TMPH][CyBH(C(6)F(5))(2)] 2, [PMPH][CyBH(C(6)F(5))(2)] 3 and [t-Bu(3)PH][CyBH(C(6)F(5))(2)] 4, which could be dehydrogenated at higher temperatures. The related Lewis acid 1-phenyl-2-[bis(pentafluorophenyl)boryl]ethane 5 exhibiting about 10% lower Lewis acidity than B(C(6)F(5))(3) is also capable of splitting H(2) in a heterolytic fashion in the presence of TMP, PMP and t-Bu(3)P yielding [TMPH][PhC(2)H(4)BH(C(6)F(5))(2)] 6, [PMPH][PhC(2)H(4)BH(C(6)F(5))(2)] 7 and [t-Bu(3)PH][PhC(2)H(4)BH(C(6)F(5))(2)] 8. Under comparable conditions as for 2-4, the dehydrogenations of 6-8 were much slower. 4b and 6 were characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction studies.  相似文献

The reaction of a solution of B(C6F4H)3 and either iPr3P or tBu3P with CO2 afforded the species R3P(CO2)B(C6F4H)3 (R=iPr (1), tBu (2)). In a similar fashion the boranes, RB(C6F5)2 (R=hexyl, cyclohexyl (Cy), norbornyl), ClB(C6F5)2, or PhB(C6F5)2 were combined with tBu3P and CO2 to give the species tBu3P(CO2)BR(C6F5)2 (R=hexyl (3), Cy (4), norbornyl (5), Cl (6), Ph (7)). Similarly, the compounds [tBu3PH][RBH(C6F5)2] (R= hexyl (8), Cy (9), norbornyl (10)) were prepared by reaction of the precursor frustrated Lewis pair (FLP) with H2. Subsequent reactions of 9 and 10 with CO2 afforded the species [((C6F5)2BR)2(μ-HCO2)][tBu3PH] (R= Cy (11), norbornyl (12)). In related chemistry, combinations of the boranes RBG(C6F5)2 (R=hexyl, Cy, norbornyl) with tBu3P treated with an equivalent of formic acid gave [(C6F5)2BR(HCO2)][tBu3PH] (R=hexyl (13), Cy (14), norbornyl (15)). Subsequent addition of an additional equivalent of borane provides a second synthetic route to 11 and 12. Crystallographic studies of compounds 2-6 and 8-14 are reported and discussed. Further understanding of the FLP complexation and activation of CO2 is provided by computational studies.  相似文献

A triarylborane (2) bearing three o-carborane cages at peripheral positions on the aryl groups was prepared and its crystal structure was determined from X-ray diffraction study. Treatment of 2 with KF in the presence of 18-crown-6 led to the potassium salt, [2F](-). A UV-vis titration experiment carried out in THF/H(2)O (9/1 v/v) showed that 2 binds fluoride ions with a binding constant (K) of 4.8 × 10(4) M(-1), which is an order-of-magnitude greater than K for the mono-carborane substituted triarylborane. The enhanced fluoride ion affinity of 2 indicates an apparent additive effect of multiple carborane substitutions on the Lewis acidity enhancement of the triarylborane. The highly Lewis acidic nature of 2 was further utilized in evaluating the fluoride ion affinity of tris(pentafluorophenyl)borane (B(C(6)F(5))(3)). A fluoride exchange reaction between [2F](-) and B(C(6)F(5))(3) resulted in 15 times higher fluorophilicity for B(C(6)F(5))(3) than for 2. The lower Lewis acidity of 2 compared with B(C(6)F(5))(3) was confirmed from its greater cathodic reduction potential.  相似文献

The species Cy(2)PHC(6)F(4)BF(C(6)F(5))(2) reacts with Pt(PPh(3))(4) to yield the new product cis-(PPh(3))(2)PtH(Cy(2)PC(6)F(4)BF(C(6)F(5))(2)) 1 via oxidative addition of the P-H bond of the phosphonium borate to Pt(0). The corresponding reaction with Pd(PPh(3))(4) affords the Pd analogue of 1, namely, cis-(PPh(3))(2)PdH(Cy(2)PC(6)F(4)BF(C(6)F(5))(2)) 3; while modification of the phosphonium borate gave the salt [(PPh(3))(3)PtH][(tBu(2)PC(6)F(4)BF(C(6)F(5))(2))] 2. Alternatively initial deprotonation of the phosphonium borate gave [tBu(3)PH][Cy(2)PC(6)F(4)BF(C(6)F(5))(2)] 4, [SIMesH][Cy(2)PC(6)F(4)BF(C(6)F(5))(2)] 5 which reacted with NiCl(2)(DME) yielding [BaseH](2)[trans-Cl(2)Ni(Cy(2)PC(6)F(4)BF(C(6)F(5))(2))(2)] (Base = tBu(3)P 6, SIMes 7) or with PdCl(2)(PhCN)(2) to give [BaseH](2)[trans-Cl(2)Pd(Cy(2)PC(6)F(4)BF(C(6)F(5))(2))(2)] (Base = tBu(3)P 8, SIMes 9). While [C(10)H(6)N(2)(Me)(4)H][tBu(2)PC(6)F(4)BF(C(6)F(5))(2)] 10 was also prepared. A third strategy for formation of a metal complex of anionic phosphine-borate derivatives was demonstrated in the reaction of (COD)PtMe(2) with the neutral phosphine-borane Mes(2)PC(6)F(4)B(C(6)F(5))(2) affording (COD)PtMe(Mes(2)PC(6)F(4)BMe(C(6)F(5))(2)) 11. Extension of this reactivity to tBu(2)PH(CH(2))(4)OB(C(6)F(5))(3)) was demonstrated in the reaction with Pt(PPh(3))(4) which yielded cis-(PPh(3))(2)PtH(tBu(2)P(CH(2))(4)OB(C(6)F(5))(3)) 12, while the reaction of [SIMesH][tBu(2)P(CH(2))(4)OB(C(6)F(5))(3)] 13 with NiCl(2)(DME) and PdCl(2)(PhCN)(2) afforded the complexes [SIMesH](2)[trans-Cl(2)Ni(tBu(2)PC(4)H(8)OB(C(6)F(5))(3))(2)] 14 and [SIMesH](2)[trans-PdCl(2)(tBu(2)P(CH(2))(4)OB(C(6)F(5))(3))(2)] 15, respectively, analogous to those prepared with 4 and 5. Finally, the reaction of 7 and 13with [(p-cymene)RuCl(2)](2) proceeds to give the new orange products [SIMesH][(p-cymene)RuCl(2)(Cy(2)PC(6)F(4)BF(C(6)F(5))(2))] 16 and [SIMesH][(p-cymene)RuCl(2)(tBu(2)P(CH(2))(4)OB(C(6)F(5))(3))] 17, respectively. Crystal structures of 1, 6, 10, 11, 12, and 16 are reported.  相似文献

Short-lived (CF(3))(3)B and (CF(3))(3)BCF(2) are generated as intermediates by thermal dissociation of (CF(3))(3)BCO and F(-) abstraction from the weak coordinating anion [B(CF(3))(4)](-), respectively. Both Lewis acids cannot be detected because of their instability with respect to rearrangement reactions at the B-C-F moiety. A cascade of 1,2-fluorine shifts to boron followed by perfluoroalkyl group migrations and also difluorocarbene transfer reactions occur. In the gas phase, (CF(3))(3)B rearranges to a mixture of linear perfluoroalkyldifluoroboranes C(n)()F(2)(n)()(+1)BF(2) (n = 2-7), while the respective reactions of (CF(3))(3)BCF(2) result in a mixture of linear (n = 2-4) and branched monoperfluoroalkyldifluoroboranes, e.g., (C(2)F(5))(CF(3))FCBF(2). For comparison, the reactions of [CF(3)BF(3)](-) and [C(2)F(5)BF(3)](-) with AsF(5) are studied, and the products in the case of [CF(3)BF(3)](-) are BF(3) and C(2)F(5)BF(2) whereas in the case of [C(2)F(5)BF(3)](-), C(2)F(5)BF(2) is the sole product. In contrast to reports in the literature, it is found that CF(3)BF(2) is too unstable at room temperature to be detected. The decomposition of (CF(3))(3)BCO in anhydrous HF leads to a mixture of the new conjugate Br?nsted-Lewis acids [H(2)F][(CF(3))(3)BF] and [H(2)F][C(2)F(5)BF(3)]. All reactions are modeled by density functional calculations. The energy barriers of the transition states are low in agreement with the experimental results that (CF(3))(3)B and (CF(3))(3)BCF(2) are short-lived intermediates. Since CF(2) complexes are key intermediates in the rearrangement reactions of (CF(3))(3)B and (CF(3))(3)BCF(2), CF(2) affinities of some perfluoroalkylfluoroboranes are presented. CF(2) affinities are compared to CO and F(-) affinities of selected boranes showing a trend in Lewis acidity, and its influence on the stability of the complexes is discussed. Fluoride ion affinities are calculated for a variety of different fluoroboranes, including perfluorocarboranes, and compared to those of the title compounds.  相似文献

Titanium-phosphorus frustrated Lewis pairs (FLPs) based on titanocene-phosphinoaryloxide complexes have been synthesised. The cationic titanium(IV) complex [Cp(2)TiOC(6)H(4)P((t)Bu)(2)][B(C(6)F(5))(4)] 2 reacts with hydrogen to yield the reduced titanium(III) complex [Cp(2)TiOC(6)H(4)PH((t)Bu)(2)][B(C(6)F(5))(4)] 5. The titanium(III)-phosphorus FLP [Cp(2)TiOC(6)H(4)P((t)Bu)(2)] 6 has been synthesised either by chemical reduction of [Cp(2)Ti(Cl)OC(6)H(4)P((t)Bu)(2)] 1 with [CoCp*(2)] or by reaction of [Cp(2)Ti{N(SiMe(3))(2)}] with 2-C(6)H(4)(OH){P((t)Bu)(2)}. Both 2 and 6 catalyse the dehydrogenation of Me(2)HN·BH(3).  相似文献

The reactivities of the highly electrophilic boranes ClB(C(6)F(5))(2) (1) and [HB(C(6)F(5))(2)](n) (2) towards a range of organometallic reagents featuring metals from Groups 7-10 have been investigated. Salt elimination chemistry is observed 1 between and the nucleophilic anions eta(5)-C(5)R(5))Fe(CO)(2)](-)(R = H or Me) and [Mn(CO)(5)](-), leading to the generation of the novel boryl complexes (eta(5)-C(5)R(5))Fe(CO)(2)B(C(6)F(5))(2)[R = H (3) or Me (4)] and (OC)(5)MnB(C(6)F(5))(2) (5). Such systems are designed to probe the extent to which the strongly sigma-donor boryl ligand can also act as a pi-acceptor; a variety of spectroscopic, structural and computational probes imply that even with such strongly electron withdrawing boryl substituents, the pi component of the metal-boron linkage is a relatively minor one. Similar reactivity is observed towards the hydridomanganese anion [(eta(5)-C(5)H(4)Me)Mn(CO)(2)H](-), generating a thermally labile product identified spectroscopically as (eta(5)-C(5)H(4)Me)Mn(CO)(2)(H)B(C(6)F(5))(2) (6). Boranes 1 and 2 display different patterns of reactivity towards low-valent platinum and rhodium complexes than those demonstrated previously for less electrophilic reagents. Thus, reaction of 1 with (Ph(3)P)(2)Pt(H(2)C=CH(2)) ultimately generates EtB(C(6)F(5))(2) (10) as the major boron-containing product, together with cis-(Ph(3)P)(2)PtCl(2) and trans-(Ph(3)P)(2)Pt(C(6)F(5))Cl (9). The cationic platinum hydride [(Ph(3)P)(3)PtH](+) is identified as an intermediate in the reaction pathway. Reaction of with [(Ph(3)P)(2)Rh(mu-Cl)](2), in toluene on the other hand, appears to proceed via ligand abstraction with both Ph(3)P.HB(C(6)F(5))(2) (11) and the arene rhodium(I) cation [(Ph(3)P)(2)Rh(eta(6)-C(6)H(5)Me)](+) (14) ultimately being formed.  相似文献

The reaction of tBu(C(6)H(4)O(2))P, with the borane B(C(6)F(5))(3) gives rise to NMR data consistent with the formation of the classical Lewis acid-base adduct tBu(C(6)H(4)O(2))P(B(C(6)F(5))(3)) (1). In contrast, the NMR data for the corresponding reactions of tBu(C(20)H(12)O(2))P and Cl(C(20)H(12)O(2))P with B(C(6)F(5))(3) were consistent with the presence of equilibria between free phosphine and borane and the corresponding adducts. Nonetheless, in each case, the adducts tBu(C(20)H(12)O(2))P(B(C(6)F(5))(3)) (2) and Cl(C(20)H(12)O(2))P(B(C(6)F(5))(3)) (3) were isolable. The species 1 reacts with PhCCH to give the new species tBu(C(6)H(4)O(2))P(Ph)C=CHB(C(6)F(5))(3) (4) in near quantitative yield. In an analogous fashion, the addition of PhCCH to solutions of the phosphines tBu(C(20)H(12)O(2))P, tBuPCl(2) and (C(6)H(3)(2,4-tBu(2))O)(3)P each with an equivalent of B(C(6)F(5))(3) gave rise to L(Ph)C=CHB(C(6)F(5))(3) (L = tBu(C(20)H(12)O(2))P 5, tBuPCl(2)6 and (C(6)H(3)(2,4-tBu(2))O)(3)P 7). X-Ray data for 1, 2, 6 and 7 are presented. The implications of these findings are considered.  相似文献

Halide exchange from the species tBu(3)P(CO(2))B(C(6)F(5))(2)Cl 1 with Me(3)SiOSO(2)CF(3) gave tBu(3)P(CO(2))B(C(6)F(5))(2)(OSO(2)CF(3)) 2. Similarly, Lewis acid exchange occurs in reactions of 1 with Al(C(6)F(5))(3) and [Cp(2)TiMe][B(C(6)F(5))(4)] affording the products, tBu(3)P(CO(2))Al(C(6)F(5))(3)3 and [tBu(3)P(CO(2))TiCp(2)Cl][B(C(6)F(5))(4)] 4.  相似文献

Computational studies of complexes Ar(3)B-ONN-PR(3) derived from reactions between borane-phosphine frustrated Lewis pairs and N(2)O reveal several interesting facets. Natural resonance theory calculations support a change in the preferred resonance structure as the Lewis acidity of the borane increases. Potential constitutional isomers where phosphorus binds to oxygen and boron to nitrogen are predicted to be unstable with respect to loss of phosphine oxide and free N(2). Other constitutional isomers represent stationary points on the potential energy surface; most are considerably less stable than the observed complexes, but one is predicted to be as stable. This arises because the dominant resonance form combines alternating charge with the presence of a stabilizing NO double bond. The relationship between Lewis acidity and complex formation for a variety of boranes was explored; the results are consistent with the idea that greater Lewis acidity stabilizes both classical and frustrated Lewis acid-base pairs, but to differing degrees such that both types can entrap N(2)O. Calculations addressing the mechanism of complex formation suggest that N(2)O binds first through the nitrogen to the phosphine phosphorus of the FLP, whereupon boron coordinates the oxygen atom. Studies of the mechanism of the degenerate exchange reaction between (4-F-H(4)C(6))(3)B-ONN-P(t-Bu)(3) and B(C(6)H(4)-4-F)(3), involves a "transition state", with relatively short B-O distances, and so resembles a classical I(a) process. The process involves two barriers, one associated with bringing the incoming borane into proximity with the oxygen, and the other associated with isomerising from a ladle-shaped cis-trans ct conformer to the observed trans-trans tt-type structure. The overall barrier for degenerate exchange was predicted to be between 65 and 110 kJ mol(-1), in fair agreement with experiment. Similar studies of the reaction between (4-F-H(4)C(6))(3)B-ONN-P(t-Bu)(3) and B(C(6)F(5))(3) indicate that this process more closely resembles a classical I(d) process, in that the "transition state" involves long B-O distances. Derivatization of the complexed NNO fragment appears possible; interaction between (F(5)C(6))(3)B-ONN-P(t-Bu)(3) and MeLi suggests stability for the ion pairs (F(5)C(6))(3)B-ON(Me)N-P(t-Bu)(3)(-)/Li(+) and (F(5)C(6))(3)B-ONN(Me)-P(t-Bu)(3)(-)/Li(+).  相似文献

Dibromonitrosyl(dihydrogen)rhenium(I) complexes [ReBr(2)(NO)(PR(3))(2)(η(2)-H(2))] (1; R = iPr, a; Cy, b) and Me(2)NH·BH(3) (DMAB) catalyze at either 90 °C or ambient temperature under 10 bar of H(2) the hydrogenation of various terminal and cyclic alkenes (1-hexene, 1-octene, cyclooctene, styrene, 1,5-cyclooctadiene, 1,7-octadiene, α-methylstyrene). Maximum turnover frequency (TOF) values of 3.6 × 10(4) h(-1) at 90 °C and 1.7 × 10(4) h(-1) at 23 °C were achieved in the hydrogenation of 1-hexene. The extraordinary catalytic performance of the 1/DMAB system is attributed to the formation of five-coordinate rhenium(I) hydride complexes [Re(Br)(H)(NO)(PR(3))(2)] (2; R = iPr, a; Cy, b) and the action of the Lewis acid BH(3) originating from DMAB. The related 2/BH(3)·THF catalytic system also exhibits under the same conditions high activity in the hydrogenation of various alkenes with a maximum turnover number (TON) of 1.2 × 10(4) and a maximum TOF of 4.0 × 10(4) h(-1). For the hydrogenations of 1-hexene with 2a and 2b, the effect of the strength of the boron Lewis acid was studied, the acidity being in the following order: BCl(3) > BH(3) > BEt(3) ≈ BF(3) > B(C(6)F(5))(3) > BPh(3) ? B(OMe)(3). The order in catalytic activity was found to be B(C(6)F(5))(3) > BEt(3) ≈ BH(3)·THF > BPh(3) ? BF(3)·OEt(2) > B(OMe)(3) ? BCl(3). The stability of the catalytic systems was checked via TON vs time plots, which revealed the boron Lewis acids to cause an approximate inverse order with the Lewis acid strength: BPh(3) > BEt(3) ≈ BH(3)·THF > B(C(6)F(5))(3). For the 2a/BPh(3) system a maximum TON of 3.1 × 10(4) and for the 2a/B(C(6)F(5))(3) system a maximum TOF of 5.6 × 10(4) h(-1) were obtained in the hydrogenation of 1-hexene. On the basis of kinetic isotope effect determinations, H(2)/D(2) scrambling, halide exchange experiments, Lewis acid variations, and isomerization of terminal alkenes, an Osborn-type catalytic cycle is proposed with olefin before H(2) addition. The active rhenium(I) monohydride species is assumed to be formed via reversible bromide abstraction with the "cocatalytic" Lewis acid. Homogeneity of the hydrogenations was tested with filtration and mercury poisoning experiments. These "rhenium(I) hydride/boron Lewis acid" systems demonstrate catalytic activities comparable to those of Wilkinson- or Schrock-Osborn-type hydrogenations accomplished with precious metal catalysts.  相似文献

A new family of electron-deficient tris(aryl)boranes, B(C(6)F(5))(3-n)(C(6)Cl(5))(n) (n = 1-3), has been synthesized, permitting an investigation into the steric and electronic effects resulting from the gradual replacement of C(6)F(5) with C(6)Cl(5) ligands. B(C(6)F(5))(2)(C(6)Cl(5)) (3) is accessed via C(6)Cl(5)BBr(2), itself prepared from donor-free Zn(C(6)Cl(5))(2) and BBr(3). Reaction of C(6)Cl(5)Li with BCl(3) in a Et(2)O/hexane slurry selectively produced B(C(6)Cl(5))(2)Cl, which undergoes B-Cl exchange with CuC(6)F(5) to afford B(C(6)F(5))(C(6)Cl(5))(2) (5). While 3 forms a complex with H(2)O, which can be rapidly removed under vacuum or in the presence of molecular sieves, B(C(6)Cl(5))(3) (6) is completely stable to refluxing toluene/H(2)O for several days. Compounds 3, 5, and 6 have been structurally characterized using single crystal X-ray diffraction and represent the first structure determinations for compounds featuring B-C(6)Cl(5) bonds; each exhibits a trigonal planar geometry about B, despite having different ligand sets. The spectroscopic characterization using (11)B, (19)F, and (13)C NMR indicates that the boron center becomes more electron-deficient as n increases. Optimized structures of B(C(6)F(5))(3-n)(C(6)Cl(5))(n) (n = 0-3) using density functional theory (B3LYP/TZVP) are all fully consistent with the experimental structural data. Computed (11)B shielding constants also replicate the experimental trend almost quantitatively, and the computed natural charges on the boron center increase in the order n = 0 (0.81) < n = 1 (0.89) < n = 2 (1.02) < n = 3 (1.16), supporting the hypothesis that electrophilicity increases concomitantly with substitution of C(6)F(5) for C(6)Cl(5). The direct solution cyclic voltammetry of B(C(6)F(5))(3) has been obtained for the first time and electrochemical measurements upon the entire series B(C(6)F(5))(3-n)(C(6)Cl(5))(n) (n = 0-3) corroborate the spectroscopic data, revealing C(6)Cl(5) to be a more electron-withdrawing group than C(6)F(5), with a ca. +200 mV shift observed in the reduction potential per C(6)F(5) group replaced. Conversely, use of the Guttmann-Beckett and Childs' methods to determine Lewis acidity on B(C(6)F(5))(3), 3, and 5 showed this property to diminish with increasing C(6)Cl(5) content, which is attributed to the steric effects of the bulky C(6)Cl(5) substituents. This conflict is ascribed to the minimal structural reorganization in the radical anions upon reduction during cyclic voltammetric experiments. Reduction of 6 using Na((s)) in THF results in a vivid blue paramagnetic solution of Na(+) [6](?-); the EPR signal of Na(+)[6](?-) is centered at g = 2.002 with a((11)B) 10G. Measurements of the exponential decay of the EPR signal (298 K) reveal [6](?-) to be considerably more stable than its perfluoro analogue.  相似文献

Hydrolysis of [NbCp'Cl(4)] (Cp' = η(5)-C(5)H(4)SiMe(3)) with the water adduct H(2)O·B(C(6)F(5))(3) afforded the oxo-borane compound [NbCp'Cl(2){O·B(C(6)F(5))(3)}] (2a). This compound reacted with [MgBz(2)(THF)(2)] giving [NbCp'Bz(2){O·B(C(6)F(5))(3)}] (2b), whereas [NbCp'Me(2){O·B(C(6)F(5))(3)}] (2c) was obtained from the reaction of [NbCp'Me(4)] with H(2)O·B(C(6)F(5))(3). Addition of Al(C(6)F(5))(3) to solutions containing the oxo-borane compounds [MCp(R)X(2){O·B(C(6)F(5))(3)}] (M = Ta, Cp(R) = η(5)-C(5)Me(5) (Cp*), X = Cl 1a, Bz 1b, Me 1c; M = Nb, Cp(R) = Cp', X = Cl 2a) afforded the oxo-alane complexes [MCp(R)X(2){O·Al(C(6)F(5))(3)}] (M = Ta, Cp(R) = Cp*, X = Cl 3a, Bz 3b, Me 3c; M = Nb, Cp(R) = Cp', X = Cl 4a), releasing B(C(6)F(5))(3). Compound 3a was also obtained by addition of Al(C(6)F(5))(3) to the dinuclear μ-oxo compound [TaCp*Cl(2)(μ-O)](2), meanwhile addition of the water adduct H(2)O·Al(C(6)F(5))(3) to [TaCp*Me(4)] gave complex 3c. The structure of 2a and 3a was obtained by X-ray diffraction studies. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations were carried out to further understand these types of oxo compounds.  相似文献

While B(C(6)F(5))(3) forms the adducts (CH(2))(4)CO(2)B(C(6)F(5))(3)1 and (CHMeCO(2))(2)B(C(6)F(5))(3)7 with δ-valerolactone and lactide, the frustrated Lewis pairs derived from B(C(6)F(5))(3) and phosphine or N-bases react with lactone to effect ring opening affording zwitterionic species of the form L(CH(2))(4)CO(2)B(C(6)F(5))(3) (L = tBu(3)P 2, Cy(3)P 3, C(5)H(3)Me(3)N 4, PhNMe(2) 5, C(5)H(6)Me(4)NH 6) while reaction with rac-lactide results in ring contraction to give salts [LH][OCCHMeCO(2)(CMe)OB(C(6)F(5))(3)] (L = tBu(3)P 8, Cy(3)P 9, C(5)H(3)Me(2)N 10, C(5)H(6)Me(4)NH 11). The cationic zirconocene-phosphinoaryloxide complexes [Cp(2)ZrOC(6)H(4)P(t-Bu)(2)][B(C(6)F(5))(4)] (3) and [Cp*(2)ZrOC(6)H(4)P(t-Bu)(2)][B(C(6)F(5))(4)] (4) were synthesized by the reaction of Cp(2)ZrMe(2) or Cp*(2)ZrMe(2) with 2-(diphenylphosphino)phenol followed by protonation with [2,6-di-tert-butylpyridinium][B(C(6)F(5))(4)]. Compound 3 exhibits a Zr-P bond, whereas the bulkier Cp* derivative 4 was isolated as a chlorobenzene adduct without this Zr-P interaction. These compounds can be described as transition-metal-containing versions of linked frustrated Lewis pairs (FLPs), and treatment of 4 with H(2) under mild conditions cleaved H(2) in a fashion analogous to that for main-group FLPs. Their reactivity in amine borane dehydrogenation also mimics that of main-group FLPs, and they dehydrogenate a range of amine borane adducts. However, in contrast to main-group FLPs, 3 and 4 achieve this transformation in a catalytic rather than stoichiometric sense, with rates superior to those for previous high-valent catalysts.  相似文献

Treatment of the neutral methyl-Zr-enolate [Cp(2)Zr(Me)[O(tBuO)C=CMe(2)]] (1) with one equivalent of B(C(6)F(5))(3) or [HNMe(2)Ph][B(C(6)F(5))(4)] as a methyl abstractor in THF at 0 degrees C leads to the selective formation of the free ion pair complex [Cp(2)Zr(THF)[O(tBuO)C=CMe(2)]](+) [anion](-) (2) (anion=MeB(C(6)F(5))(3) (-), B(C(6)F(5))(4) (-)), which is relevant to the controlled polymerization of methacrylates. Cation 2 rapidly decomposes at 20 degrees C in THF with release of one equivalent of isobutene to form the cationic Zr-carboxylate species [Cp(2)Zr(THF)(O(2)CiPr)](+) (3), through a proposed intramolecular proton transfer process from the tert-butoxy group to the enolate. The reaction of 1 with one equivalent of B(C(6)F(5))(3) or [HNMe(2)Ph][B(C(6)F(5))(4)] in CH(2)Cl(2) leads to the direct, rapid formation of the dimeric micro-isobutyrato-Zr dicationic species [[Cp(2)Zr[micro-(O(2)CiPr)]](2)](2+) (4), which gives 3 upon dissolution in THF. Contrastingly, when [Ph(3)C][B(C(6)F(5))(4)] is used to generate the cationic Zr-enolate species from 1 in CD(2)Cl(2), a 15:85 mixture of dicationic complexes 4 and [[Cp(2)Zr[micro-(O(2)C-C(Me)=CH(2))]](2)](2+)[B(C(6)F(5))(4)]]2-(5-[B(C(6)F(5))(4)](2)) is obtained quantitatively. The formation of 5 is proposed to arise from initial hydride abstraction from a methyl enolate group by Ph(3)C(+), as supported by the parallel production of Ph(3)CH, and subsequent elimination of methane and isobutene. In addition to standard spectroscopic and analytical characterizations for the isolated complexes 2-5, complexes 4 and 5 have also been structurally characterized by X-ray diffraction studies.  相似文献

With the recognition of aqueous fluoride and cyanide ions as an objective, we have investigated the anion binding properties of two isomeric ammonium boranes, namely [p-(Mes2B)C6H4(NMe3)]+ ([1]+) and [o-(Mes2B)C6H4(NMe3)]+ ([2]+). These cationic boranes, which could be obtained by reaction of the known 4- and 2-dimesitylboryl-N,N-dimethylaniline with MeOTf, have been investigated both experimentally and computationally. They both react with fluoride and cyanide ions in organic solvents to afford the corresponding fluoroborate/ or cyanoborate/ammonium zwitterions 1F, 1CN, 2F, and 2CN. In aqueous solution, however, these cationic boranes behave as remarkably selective receptors. Indeed, [1]+ only complexes cyanide ions while [2]+ only complexes fluoride ions. In H2O/DMSO 60:40 vol (HEPES 6 mM, pH 7), the cyanide binding constant of [1]+ and the fluoride binding constant of [2]+ are respectively equal to 3.9 (+/-0.1) x 108 and 910 (+/-50) M-1. Structural and computational studies indicate that both steric and electronic effects contribute to the unusual selectivity displayed by these cationic boranes. Owing to favorable Coulombic effects, the para-derivative [1]+ has a very high affinity for cyanide; yet these effects are not sufficiently intense to allow complexation of the more efficiently hydrated and less basic fluoride anion. In the case of the ortho-derivative [2]+, the proximity of the ammonium moiety leads to an increase in the Lewis acidity of the boron center thus making fluoride binding possible. However, steric effects prevent cyanide coordination to the boron center of [2]+. Finally, cation [1]+ and [2]+ bind their dedicated anions reversibly and show a negligible response in the presence of other common anions including Cl-, Br-, I-, NO3-, OAc-, H2PO4-, and HSO4-.  相似文献

The phosphinoboranes [R(2)PB(C(6)F(5))(2)](2) (R = Et 1, Ph 2) and R(2)PB(C(6)F(5))(2) (R = tBu 3, Cy 4, Mes 5) were synthesized from the reaction of (C(6)F(5))(2)BCl and the corresponding lithium phosphide. The relationships between B-P distance, P pyramidality, and the extent of BP multiple bonding were further explored computationally. Natural Bond Order (NBO) analyses of 3 and 4 showed that the π-bonding highest occupied molecular orbitals (HOMOs) were highly polarized. In addition the Lewis acid-base adducts, R(2)(H)P·B(H)(C(6)F(5))(2) (R = Et 6; Ph 7; tBu 8; Cy 9; Mes 10) were prepared via the reaction of the phosphines R(2)PH with the borane HB(C(6)F(5))(2). Compounds 1 and 2 showed no signs of reaction with H(2); however, reaction of compounds 3 and 4 with H(2) was observed to give 8 and 9. In a related set of reactions compounds 3 and 4 were reacted with H(3)NBH(3) or Me(2)(H)NBH(3) also led to the generation of 8 and 9, respectively. The reaction profile of the reaction of (CF(3))(2)BPR(2) with H(2) was examined computationally and shown to be exothermic. Efforts to effect the reverse reaction, that is, dehydrogenation of adducts 6-10 were unsuccessful. Compound 4 was also shown to react with 4-tert-butylpyridine to give Cy(2)PB(C(6)F(5))(2)(4-tBuC(5)H(4)N) 11 while reactions of 3 and 4 with the Lewis acid BCl(3) gave the dimers (R(2)PBCl(2))(2) (R = tBu 12, Cy 13) and the byproduct ClB(C(6)F(5))(2).  相似文献

[reaction: see text] PhB(C(6)F(5))(2) exhibits much higher activity as a Lewis acid catalyst for the allylstannation of aromatic aldehydes than the stronger Lewis acid B(C(6)F(5))(3). This anomalous enhancement of catalytic activity for the weaker LA is shown to be partly due to decreased thermodynamic stability of ion pair 2b relative to 2a in the product-forming step of the reaction. A mechanistic path where the borane serves as the true LA catalyst is more important for the weakly Lewis acidic borane.  相似文献

The synthesis and reactivity of the cationic niobium and tantalum monomethyl complexes [(BDI)MeM(N(t)Bu)][X] (BDI = [Ar]NC(CH(3))CHC(CH(3))N[Ar], Ar = 2,6-(i)Pr(2)C(6)H(3); M = Nb, Ta; X = MeB(C(6)F(5))(3), B(C(6)F(5))(4)] was investigated. The cationic alkyl complexes failed to irreversibly bind CO but formed phosphine-trapped acyl complexes [(BDI)(R(3)PC(O)Me)M(N(t)Bu)][B(C(6)F(5))(4)] (R = Et, Cy) in the presence of a combination of trialkylphosphines and CO. Treatment of the monoalkyl cationic Nb complex with XylNC (Xyl = 2,6-Me(2)-C(6)H(3)) resulted in irreversible formation of the iminoacyl complex [(BDI)(XylN[double bond, length as m-dash]C(Me))Nb(N(t)Bu)][B(C(6)F(5))(4)], which did not bind phosphines but would add a methide group to the iminoacyl carbon to provide the known ketimine complex (BDI)(XylNCMe(2))Nb(N(t)Bu). Further stoichiometric chemistry explored i) migratory insertion reactions to form new alkoxide, amidinate, and ketimide complexes; ii) protonolysis reactions with Ph(3)SiOH to form thermally robust cationic siloxide complexes; and iii) catalytic high-density polyethylene formation mediated by the cationic Nb methyl complex.  相似文献
