A novel oxidation approach utilizing a robust photolabile carbonyl protecting group reagent (1) as the oxidizing reagent has been developed. Different from existing methods, this approach oxidizes primary alcohols to the photosensitive acetals (e.g., 3), providing another unique approach to the protected aldehydes. Thus, for the first time, oxidation and protection are achieved in one reaction. Secondary alcohols are oxidized to the corresponding ketones. Moreover, the photolabile protecting group (PPG) also oxidizes ethers and esters. The oxidation is presumably via hydride abstraction by the tritylium ion generated from 1 under acidic conditions. However, the mechanisms for primary alcohols and secondary alcohols are slightly different.  相似文献

In this study, macroporous polystyrene-supported IBX (MPS-IBX) amides were prepared in two simple steps, and the polymeric reagent was then evaluated for its efficiency in converting a range of alcohols to the corresponding carbonyl compounds in various solvents. The results indicated that the MPS-IBX amides were compatible with a variety of solvents, and had a more efficient oxidation activity toward alkyl alcohols than the gel type polystyrene-supported IBX amides. Finally, the resin that was consumed in the oxidation reaction was regenerated to give a restored loading level of 0.44-0.54 mmol/g.  相似文献

Crosslinked poly(4-vinylpyridine) and poly(4-vinylpyridine-co-styrene) were functionalized with permanganate group to afford the corresponding poly[4-vinyl(pyridinium permanganate)] resin. These resins were found to selectively oxidize alcohols to corresponding carbonyl compounds. These insoluble functionalized polymers possess the desired characteristics of the polymeric reagents, including operational simplicity, filterability, and regenerability. The influence of solvent, duration of reaction, and molar excess of the reagent in these oxidation reactions was investigated to find out the optimum conditions for effective oxidation reactions. The reactions were found to be more facilitated in nonpolar solvents, and a large excess of the polymeric reagent did not have any significant effect on the extent of reactions. The poly[4-vinyl(pyridinium permanganate)] resin bears a contrast to KMnO4 and other polymer-supported oxidizing agents like poly[4-vinyl(pyridinium chlorochromate)] in that it does not bring about the oxidation of the alcohol group directly attached to the ring structure.  相似文献

Catalytic amount of vanadium reagent with tert-butylhydroperoxide as the oxidant was found to be an excellent oxidizing agent in aqueous medium. Vanadium pentoxide with aq tert-butylhydroperoxide readily oxidizes primary benzylic azides to the corresponding acids and secondary benzylic azides to the corresponding ketones in excellent yields. Further, vanadium pentoxide and aq tert-butylhydroperoxide combination turned out to be an effective catalyst for the oxidation of alcohols. Using vanadium pentoxide and aq tert-butylhydroperoxide primary alcohols were oxidized to the corresponding acids, whereas secondary alcohols underwent a smooth transformation to furnish corresponding ketones in excellent yields. Benzyltriphenylphosphonium tribromide (BTPTB), as a stable solid reagent, is easily prepared by the reaction of benzyltriphenylphosphonium bromide with Br2. This reagent can be used as an efficient reagent for the chemoselective oxidation of dialkyl and aryl-alkyl sulfides to their corresponding sulfoxides in the presence of diaryl sulfides and primary alcohols. Instantaneous generation of N-methyl morpholine chlorochromate (NMMCC) is an efficient reagent for oxidation of primary and secondary alcohols to the corresponding carbonyl compounds. The comparison of reaction time and product yield was studied with novel NMMCC and other chlorochromate reagents and shows that the presented method requires less reaction time with good yield at laboratory temperature. The synthesis of reagent, formation of toxic and hazardous chromylchloride have been avoided, and also use of NMMCC under microwave irradiation for oxidation leads to fast reaction time and success of the strategy.  相似文献

A facile one-pot preparation of polystyrene-supported (dichloroiodo)benzene (loading of -ICl2 up to 1.35 mmol/g) from polystyrene, iodine, and bleach has been developed. This recyclable reagent is useful for efficient chlorination of organic substrates and selective oxidation of various alcohols to the corresponding carbonyl compounds in high yields under mild conditions. The final products are conveniently separated from the polymeric byproduct by simple filtration and isolated in good purity after evaporation of solvent.  相似文献
