This work presents an analytical calculation of tachyon correlation functions in the non-critical string theory where the Liouville fields are important. The calculations are performed at large negative target space dimension D where there exists a perturbative expansion, and in the framework of the full Liouville theory where the curved measure for the Liouville field plays an important role, rather than in the effective theory. The correlation functions are obtained for any genus of the Riemann surface at one-loop order.  相似文献

We calculate the disk level S-matrix element of one closed string RR field, two open string tachyons and one gauge field in type II superstring theory. An expansion for the S-matrix element has been found that its four leading order terms are reproduced exactly by the symmetric trace tachyon DBI and the Wess–Zumino actions of D-brane–anti-D-brane systems. Using this consistency, we have also found the first higher derivative correction to the some of the WZ terms.  相似文献

We put forward an idea that the boundary entropy associated with integrable massless flow of thermodynamic Bethe ansatz (TBA) is identified with tachyon action of boundary string field theory. We show that the temperature parametrizing a massless flow in the TBA formalism can be identified with tachyon energy for the classical action at least near the ultraviolet fixed point, i.e., the open string vacuum.  相似文献

We perform canonical quantization of open string on a unstable D-brane in the background of tachyon condensation. Evaluating the Polyakov path-integral on a strip, we obtain a field theoretical propagator in the open string theory. As condensation occurs the string field theory is continuously deformed. At the infrared fixed point of condensation, the open string field on the unstable D-brane transmutes to that on the lower-dimensional D-brane with the correct D-brane tension.  相似文献

We make some comments concerning the structure of loop corrections to the effective action (EA) for massless fields of a string. The singular part of the α′→0 limit of the one-loop EA in the open (super)string theory is studied and is shown to be in correspondence with the ultraviolet divergent part of the one-loop effective action in the (super) Yang-Mills theory. In particular, we reproduce the known result about the absence of ΛD−4 Fμν2 one-loop infinities in D = 26 Yang-Mills theory starting from the open Bose string theory. We also discuss the path integral representation for EA (EA = generalized partition function for the σ-model) and use it to compute the open string theory EA on the disc and the annulus.  相似文献

We derive an explicit formula for the evaluation of the classical closed string action for any off-shell string field, and for the calculation of arbitrary off-shell amplitudes. The formulae require a parametrization, in terms of some moduli space coordinates, of the family of local coordinates needed to insert the off-shell states on Riemann surfaces. We discuss in detail the evaluation of the tachyon potential as a power series in the tachyon field. The expansion coefficients in this series are shown to be geometrical invariants of Strebel quadratic differentials whose variational properties imply that closed string polyhedra, among all possible choices of string vertices, yield a tachyon potential which is as small as possible order by order in the string coupling constant. Our discussion emphasizes the geometrical meaning of off-shell amplitudes.  相似文献

We formulate closed string field theory as a quantum theory of modular geometry. We determine the full interacting quantum hamiltonian to all loop orders in perturbation theory. The free action has a new highly non-linear symmetry acting on the string field, and the kinetic operator. Perturbatively we demonstrate that the new theory gives the correct expression for the cosmological constant that is ultraviolet finite to one-loop order.  相似文献

Finite temperature corrections to open string coupling constant and tachyon mass are calculated. We find that temperature contributions do have singularities (this was not the case in field theory). We study the low-temperature limit of the coupling constant and find that, in this limit, it decreases with temperature. We study the corrections to closed strings.  相似文献

We present the technical tools needed to compute any one-loop amplitude involving external spacetime fermions in a four-dimensional heterotic string model à la Kawai-Lewellen-Tye. As an example, we compute the one-loop three-point amplitude with one “photon” and two external massive fermions (“electrons”). As a check of our computation, we verify that the one-loop contribution to the Anomalous Magnetic Moment vanishes if the model has spacetime supersymmetry, as required by the supersymmetric sum rules.  相似文献

We derive effective actions for "spacelike branes" (S-branes) and find a solution describing the formation of fundamental strings in the rolling tachyon background. The S-brane action is a Dirac-Born-Infeld action for Euclidean world volumes defined in the context of time-dependent tachyon condensation of non-BPS (Bogomol'nyi-Prasad-Sommerfield) branes. It includes gauge fields and, in particular, a scalar field associated with translation along the time direction. We show that the BIon spike solutions constructed in this system correspond to the production of a confined electric flux tube (a fundamental string) at late time of the rolling tachyon.  相似文献

The propagators of pion and sigma meson at a finite nuclear density and zero temperature are studied in chiral σ model. Their dispersion relations are calculated numerically in one-loop approximation. In order to avoid the so-called tachyon pole appearing in the one-loop propagators of pion and sigma meson, we regard the mass of sigma meson mσ as a free parameter and adjust it to fit the nuclear saturation properties. For mσ equal to 3075 MeV, the tachyon pole does not appear at the normal nuclear density. Thus the dispersion relation can be calculated in chiral σ model in one-loop level for the first time.  相似文献

We investigate the noncommutativity of open strings, attached to a Dp-brane, in the presence of the linear dilaton, tachyon, U(1) gauge field as well as constant antisymmetric B-field backgrounds. Infrared regularized versions of 4-D N = 1 superstring ground states are constructed by curving the spacetime. A similar regularization can be performed in field theory. For the IR regularized string ground states we derive the exact one-loop effective action for non-zero U(1) or chromomagnetic fields as well as gravitational and axionic-dilatonic fields. This effective action is IR and UV finite. Thus, the one-loop corrections to all couplings (gravitational, gauge and Yukawas) are unambiguously computed. These corrections are necessary for quantitative string superunification predictions at low energies. The one-loop corrections to the couplings are also found to satisfy Infrared Flow Equations.  相似文献

By calculating various disk level S-matrix elements and studying in details their momentum expansions, we have extracted some of the couplings in tachyon DBI action and Wess–Zumino terms of the non-BPS branes, and their higher derivative corrections. In particular, we have found that there is exact consistency between field theory and string theory tachyon pole of S-matrix element of one RR and three tachyons provided that one takes into account the fact that the tachyon vertex operator in 0 picture to be along the Pauli matrix σ1σ1 whereas the tachyon in −1 picture to be along the σ2σ2 direction. This internal CP factors should be included in the tachyon DBI part of the effective action.  相似文献

Motivated by recent work of Sheykhi (Phys. Lett. B 682:329, 2010), we generalize this work to agegraphic tachyon models of dark energy with entropy correction terms arising from loop quantum gravity. We establish a connection between the entropy-corrected agegraphic dark energy and the tachyon scalar field in a universe with spacial curvature and reconstruct the potential and the dynamics of the tachyon scalar field which describe the tachyon cosmology. The cosmological implications of the entropy-corrected agegraphic dark energy models are also discussed.  相似文献

Techniques based upon the string organisation of amplitudes may be used to simplify field theory calculations. We apply these techniques to perturbative gravity and calculate all one-loop amplitudes for four-graviton scattering with arbitrary internal particle content. Decomposing the amplitudes into contributions arising from supersymmetric multiplets greatly simplifies these calculations. We also discuss how unitarity may be used to constrain the amplitudes.  相似文献
