In general, the conductivity of polypyrrole (PPy) is reduced by addition of magnetic nanoparticles as the additives owing to insulating effect of magnetic nanoparticles. In this article, novel electromagnetic functionalized PPy composite nanostructures were prepared by a template‐free method associated with γ‐Fe2O3 nano‐needles as the hard templates in the presence of p‐toluene‐sulfonic acid (p‐TSA) and FeCl3·6H2O as the dopant and oxidant, respectively. It was found that the molar ratio of γ‐Fe2O3 to pyrrole monomer represented by [γ‐Fe2O3]/[Py] ratio strongly affected the morphology and the conductivity of the γ‐Fe2O3/PPy composite nanostructures. A growth mechanism for the composite nanostructures was proposed based on the variance of the morphology with the [γ‐Fe2O3]/[Py] ratio. Compared with previously reported γ‐Fe2O3/PPy composites, the as‐prepared novel composite nanostructures showed much higher conductivity (up to ~50 times higher). Moreover, the synthesized γ‐Fe2O3/PPy composite nanostructures displayed ferromagnetic behavior with a high coercive force. Explanations for these interesting observations were made in terms of the magnetic interaction between ferromagnetic γ‐Fe2O3 nano‐needles and spin‐polaron of PPy nanotubes. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Micron‐sized monodisperse superparamagnetic polyglycidyl methacrylate (PGMA) particles with functional amino groups were prepared by a process involving: (1) preparation of parent monodisperse PGMA particles by the dispersion polymerization method, (2) chemical modification of the PGMA particles with ethylenediamine (EDA) to yield amino groups, and (3) impregnation of iron ions (Fe2+ and Fe3+) inside the particles and subsequently precipitating them with ammonium hydroxide to form magnetite (Fe3O4) nanoparticles within the polymer particles. The resultant magnetic PGMA particles with amino groups were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X‐ray diffractometry (XRD), and vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM). SEM showed that the magnetic particles had an average size of 2.6 μm and were highly monodisperse. TEM demonstrated that the magnetite nanoparticles distributed evenly within the polymer particles. The existence of amino groups in the magnetic polymer particles was confirmed by FTIR. XRD indicated that the magnetic nanoparticles within the polymer were pure Fe3O4 with a spinel structure. VSM results showed that the magnetic polymer particles were superparamagnetic, and saturation magnetization was found to be 16.3 emu/g. The Fe3O4 content of the magnetic particles was 24.3% based on total weight. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 43: 3433–3439, 2005  相似文献

Carboxylic acid capped γ‐Fe2O3 nanoparticles were prepared by the standard decomposition of Fe(CO)5 in di‐n‐octyl ether and oleic acid. Two methods were employed to introduce surface functionality to the nanoparticles. First, a thermally stable, tert‐butyldiphenylsilyl‐protected hydroxyl group was incorporated into the carboxylic acid surfactant used during the synthesis. Subsequent deprotection and transformation installed a 2‐bromopropionyl ester group on the particle surface (the functional‐group‐interchange method). The resulting nanoparticles were 4.53 nm in average diameter and were characterized with IR spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), selected area electron diffraction, and elemental analysis. Second, a 2‐bromopropionyl ester group was installed on the particle surface after synthesis via the exchange of the surface oleic acid with a carboxylic acid containing the desired 2‐bromopropionyl ester unit (the ligand‐exchange method). The resulting nanoparticles were 4.30 nm in average diameter and were characterized with IR spectroscopy, TEM, and elemental analysis. Monitoring the percentage of bromine incorporated into the nanoparticle sample versus the ligand‐exchange reaction time indicated that the number of initiator‐containing carboxylic acids that could be exchanged onto the surface was limited, presumably by the steric size of the 2‐bromopropionyl ester group. Styrene was then polymerized directly off γ‐Fe2O3 nanoparticles, and this yielded hybrid core–shell structures. The measurements of the magnetic properties of the samples demonstrated that the magnetism of the core γ‐Fe2O3 nanoparticle did not change during the performance of the chemical transformations. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Fine magnetite nanoparticles, both electrostatically stabilized and nonstabilized, were synthesized in situ by precipitation of Fe(II) and Fe(III) salts in alkaline medium. Magnetic poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) microspheres with core‐shell structure, where Fe3O4 is the magnetic core and PGMA is the shell, were obtained by dispersion polymerization initiated with 2,2′‐azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN), 4,4′‐azobis(4‐cyanovaleric acid) (ACVA), or ammonium persulfate (APS) in ethanol containing poly(vinylpyrrolidone) or ethylcellulose stabilizer in the presence of iron oxide ferrofluid. The average microsphere size ranged from 100 nm to 2 μm. The effects of the nature of ferrofluid, polymerization temperature, monomer, initiator, and stabilizer concentration on the PGMA particle size and polydispersity were studied. The particles contained 2–24 wt % of iron. AIBN produced larger microspheres than APS or ACVA. Polymers encapsulating electrostatically stabilized iron oxide particles contained lower amounts of oxirane groups compared with those obtained with untreated ferrofluid. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The precipitation of Fe3O4 from an aqueous solution with ammonium hydroxide produced nanoparticles that were coated with a layer of oleic acid [or, in some cases, poly(ethylene oxide) or poly(vinylpyrrolidone)] before their dispersion into the organic phase. The encapsulation of magnetite nanoparticles in poly(2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate) or poly(2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate‐co‐glycidyl methacrylate) microparticles was achieved by dispersion polymerization in toluene/2‐methylpropan‐1‐ol. Magnetic poly(glycidyl methacrylate) microparticles were obtained in the presence of poly(ethylene oxide) at the magnetite/monomer interface. The particles containing up to 20 wt % iron maintained their discrete nature and did not aggregate. The effect of the reaction medium polarity, the concentrations of the monomer, initiator, and stabilizer, and the temperature on the particle size, particle size distribution, and iron and oxirane group contents was studied. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The aim of this study was to develop novel thermally responsive polymer microspheres with magnetic properties. Dispersion and inverse emulsion copolymerization of N‐isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm) and N,N′‐methylenebisacrylamide (MBAAm) was investigated in the presence of γ‐Fe2O3 nanoparticles. The resulting microspheres were characterized in terms of morphology, size, polydispersity, iron content, and temperature‐dependent swelling using optical microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, QELS, and AAS. The effects of several variables, such as the concentration of γ‐Fe2O3, MBAAm crosslinking agent, Span 80 surfactant, 2,2′‐azobis(2‐methyloctanenitrile) (AMON) initiator, and polymerization temperature on the properties of the microspheres were studied. Swelling and thermoresponsive behavior of the microspheres containing γ‐Fe2O3 nanoparticles were also investigated. The microspheres contained about 8 wt % of iron. The presence of magnetic nanoparticles and their concentration changes did not have any significant effect on the temperature sensitivity of the composites. The particles gradually shrink into an increasingly collapsed state when the temperature is raised to 40 °C since the increase in temperature weakens the hydration and PNIPAAm chains gradually become more hydrophobic, which leads to the collapse of the particles. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In the present study, Fe2+ and Ni2+ immobilized on hydroxyapatite‐core‐shell γ‐Fe2O3 (γ‐Fe2O3@HAp‐Fe2+ and γ‐Fe2O3@HAp‐Ni2+) with a high surface area has been synthesized and characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and scanning electron microscope (SEM) techniques. Then, γ‐Fe2O3@HAp‐Fe2+ and γ‐Fe2O3@HAp‐Ni2+ were used as a new and magnetically recoverable nano catalyst for the selective oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides with 33% aqueous H2O2 (0.5 mL) as an oxidant at room temperature in good to excellent yields and short reaction time. Nontoxicity of reagent, mild reaction condition, inexpensive and high catalytic activity, simple experimental procedure, short period of conversion and excellent yields, and ease of recovery from the reaction mixture using an external magnet are the advantages of the present method.  相似文献

Perylene diimide‐modified magnetic γ‐Fe2O3/CeO2 nanoparticles (γ‐Fe2O3/CeO2‐PDI) were prepared and exhibited excellent peroxidase‐like activity. The samples were characterized by HR‐TEM, XRD, Raman, N2 adsorption, magnetic strength and XPS. The obtained γ‐Fe2O3/CeO2‐PDI had size of 10~20 nm with high specific surface area of 77 m2/g, and could be easily separated from the aqueous solution by using a magnet, which are in favor of its practical application. Due to the decoration of PDI, the γ‐Fe2O3/CeO2‐PDI possessed more surface defects (Ce3+) and active oxygen species than that of γ‐Fe2O3/CeO2, resulting in the outstanding catalytic performance. And the composite catalyst also showed highly sensitive and selectivity toward VC with a limit of detection of 0.45 μM. Based on the fluorescent results, a possible hydroxyl radical (?OH) catalytic mechanism was proposed. It is believed that the as‐prepared γ‐Fe2O3/CeO2‐PDI nanoparticles are promising biosensors applied for biomedical and food analysis.  相似文献

We present the first results of electron magnetic resonance (EMR) and Mössbauer spectroscopy studies of γ‐Fe2O3 nanoparticles (NPs) incorporated into liquid‐crystalline, second‐generation dendrimers. The mean size of NPs formed in the dendrimers was around 2.5 nm. A temperature‐driven transition from superparamagnetic to ferrimagnetic resonance was observed for the sample. Low‐temperature blocking of the NP magnetic moments has been clearly evidenced in the integrated EMR line intensity and the blocking temperature was about 60 K. The physical parameters of magnetic NPs (magnetic moment, effective magnetic anisotropy) have been determined from analyses of the EMR data. The effective magnetic anisotropy constant is enhanced relative to bulk γ‐Fe2O3 and this enhanced value is associated with the influence of the surface and shape effects. The angular dependence of the EMR signal position for the field‐freezing sample from liquid‐crystalline phase showed that NPs possessed uniaxial anisotropy, in contrast to bulk γ‐Fe2O3. Mössbauer spectroscopy determined that fabricated NPs consisted of an α‐Fe core and a γ‐Fe2O3 shell.  相似文献

This paper described a simple novel technique to prepare magnetic nano‐composite particles coated with highly crosslinked poly(lauryl methacrylate) (PLMA), a hydrophobic polymer because of its long chain alkyl group for application in waste water purification. Nano‐sized magnetite (Fe3O4) particles prepared by coprecipitation of Fe2+ and Fe3+ from their alkali aqueous solution were encapsulated with SiO2 following treatment with tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS). Finally precipitation copolymerization of LMA and divinyl benzene (DVB) in the presence of Fe3O4/SiO2 particles was carried out within stable isolated droplets containing hexadecane–toluene mixture (4:1 mixture HD‐T). The produced PLMA‐coated magnetic composite particles named as Fe3O4/SiO2/P(LMA‐DVB) were characterized by Fourier Transform IR (FTIR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), thermogravimetry (TG) and X‐ray diffractometer (XRD) analyses. The performance of the composite particles was evaluated for the removal of organic pollutants from water. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A facile and effective approach to preparation of dual‐responsive magnetic core/shell composite microspheres is reported. The magnetite(Fe3O4)/poly(methacrylic acid) (PMAA) composite microspheres were synthesized through encapsulating γ‐methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (MPS)‐modified magnetite colloid nanocrystal clusters (MCNCs) with crosslinked PMAA shell. First, the 200‐nm‐sized MCNCs were fabricated through solvothermal reaction, and then the MCNCs were modified with MPS to form active vinyl groups on the surface of MCNCs, and finally, a pH‐responsive shell of PMAA was coated onto the surface of MCNCs by distillation‐precipitation polymerization. The transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and vibrating sample magnetometer characterization showed that the obtained composite microspheres had well‐defined core/shell structure and high saturation magnetization value (35 emu/g). The experimental results indicated that the thickness and degree of crosslinking of PMAA shell could be well‐controlled. The pH‐induced change in size exhibited by the core/shell microspheres reflected the PMAA shell contained large amount of carboxyl groups. The carboxyl groups and high saturation magnetization make these microspheres have a great potential in biomolecule separation and drug carriers. Moreover, we also demonstrated that other magnetic polymeric microspheres, such as Fe3O4/PAA, Fe3O4/PAM, and Fe3O4/PNIPAM, could be synthesized by this approach. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this study, the poly(NIPAAm–MAA)/Fe3O4 hollow latex particles were synthesized by three steps. The first step was to synthesize the poly(methyl methacrylate‐co‐methylacrylate acid) (poly(MMA‐MAA)) copolymer latex particles by the method of soapless emulsion polymerization. Following the first step, the second step was to polymerize N‐isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm), MAA, and crosslinking agent (N,N'‐methylene‐bisacrylamide (MBA)) in the presence of poly(MMA‐MAA) latex particles to form the linear poly(MMA‐MAA)/crosslinking poly (NIPAAm‐MAA) core‐shell latex particles. After the previous processes, the core‐shell latex particles were heated in the presence of NH4OH to dissolve the linear poly(MMA‐MAA) core in order to form the poly(NIPAAm‐MAA) hollow latex particles. In the third step, Fe2+ and Fe3+ ions were introduced to bond with the ? COOH groups of MAA segments in the poly(NIPAAm‐MAA) hollow polymer latex particles. Further by a reaction with NH4OH and then Fe3O4 nanoparticles were generated in situ and the poly(NIPAAm‐MAA)/Fe3O4 magnetic composite hollow latex particles were formed. The concentrations of MAA, crosslinking agent (N,N'‐methylene bisacrylamide), and Fe3O4 nanoparticles were important factors to influence the morphology of hollow latex particles and lower critical solution temperature of poly(NIPAAm–MAA)/Fe3O4 magnetic composite hollow latex particles. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Solution property of poly(γ‐benzyl‐L ‐glutamate)‐b‐polyisoprene‐b‐poly(γ‐benzyl‐L ‐glutamate) (GIG copolymer) was studied by using dynamic light scattering and static light scattering for N,N‐dimethylformamide (DMF) solution and DMF/toluene mixed solutions. GIG copolymer proved to aggregate in DMF and under DMF‐rich condition, that is, high‐polar region. The aggregate decreased in size, and completely disappeared under toluene‐rich condition, that is, low‐polar region. The correlation between solubility parameter and aggregate size of GIG copolymer in the DMF/toluene solution systems quantitatively demonstrated how strongly polarity caused by hydrogen bond made an impact on the aggregation behavior. Because the main driving force to the aggregation under DMF‐rich condition originates with polyisoprene (PIP) blocks, the aggregate in DMF is considered to be a core‐shell micelle consisting of flexible PIP core surrounded by rigid poly(γ‐benzyl‐L ‐glutamate) (PBLG) shell. The values of dimensionless parameter ρ, defined as the ratio of radius of gyration 〈S21/2 to hydrodynamic radius RH, revealed that a single chain of GIG copolymer had the form of rigid rod with flexibility, that is, once‐broken rod, caused by the incorporation of a flexible PIP chain between two rigid PBLG rods in the DMF/toluene solution system. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Poly(2‐hydroxyethyl methacrylate‐coN,O‐dimethacryloylhydroxylamine) particles were prepared by dispersion polymerization in toluene/2‐methylpropan‐1‐ol medium using cellulose acetate butyrate and dibenzoyl peroxide (BPO) as a steric stabilizer and initiator, respectively. The particle size was reduced with decreasing solvency of the reaction medium (more nuclei were generated) because the critical chain length of the precipitated oligomers decreased with an increasing toluene content, which is a poorer solvent for the polymer than 2‐methylpropan‐1‐ol. There is an optimum initiator concentration (2 wt % BPO relative to monomers) for producing low‐polydispersity particles under given conditions. Additionally, discrete spherical particles were obtained at a low monomer concentration and/or higher polymerization temperature. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A simple, efficient and eco‐friendly procedure has been developed using Cu(II) immobilized on guanidinated epibromohydrin‐functionalized γ‐Fe2O3@TiO2 (γ‐Fe2O3@TiO2‐EG‐Cu(II)) for the synthesis of 2,4,5‐trisubstituted and 1,2,4,5‐tetrasubstituted imidazoles, via the condensation reactions of various aldehydes with benzil and ammonium acetate or ammonium acetate and amines, under solvent‐free conditions. High‐resolution transmission electron microscopy analysis of this catalyst clearly affirmed the formation of a γ‐Fe2O3 core and a TiO2 shell, with mean sizes of about 10–20 and 5–10 nm, respectively. These data were in very good agreement with X‐ray crystallographic measurements (13 and 7 nm). Moreover, magnetization measurements revealed that both γ‐Fe2O3@TiO2 and γ‐Fe2O3@TiO2‐EG‐Cu(II) had superparamagnetic behaviour with saturation magnetization of 23.79 and 22.12 emu g?1, respectively. γ‐Fe2O3@TiO2‐EG‐Cu(II) was found to be a green and highly efficient nanocatalyst, which could be easily handled, recovered and reused several times without significant loss of its activity. The scope of the presented methodology is quite broad; a variety of aldehydes as well as amines have been shown to be viable substrates. A mechanism for the cyclocondensation reaction has also been proposed.  相似文献

A multifunctional ferrocene‐modified poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA‐Fc) and a difunctional β‐cyclodextrin derivative (bis‐CD) has been prepared for the construction of an electrically driven removable and self‐healing polymeric materials based on the complexation reaction between ferrocene and β‐CD groups. The chemical structures of PGMA‐Fc and bis‐CD have been characterized with Fourier transform infrared, 1H nuclear magnetic resonance, and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The effects of electrical voltages and medium conductivity on the decrosslinking efficiency of the crosslinked PGMA‐Fc/CD polymer have been examined. The PGMA‐Fc/CD network has shown removable feature and properties for application as a reworkable crosslinked material. Moreover, the crosslinked PGMA‐Fc/CD sample has shown electrically driven self‐healing behavior. The self‐healing performance could be enhanced with wetting the sample to increase the electrical conductivity. As a result, the material could serve as a self‐healing agent for commercial painting products. Glycidyl‐functional polymer nanoparticles [poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA)] were fabricated with microemulsion polymerization. The successful fabrication of PGMA nanoparticles was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). A TEM image showed that the average diameter of the PGMA nanoparticles was approximately 10–28 nm and was fairly monodisperse. As the surfactant concentration increased, the average size of the nanoparticles decreased and approached an asymptotic value. A significant reduction of the nanoparticle size to the nanometer scale led to an enhanced number of surface functionalities, which played an important role in the curing reaction. The PGMA nanoparticles were cured with a low‐temperature curing agent, diethylene triamine, to produce ultrafine thermoset nanoparticles. The low‐temperature curing process was performed below the glass‐transition temperature of PGMA to prevent the coagulation and deformation of the nanoparticles. A TEM image indicated that the cured PGMA nanoparticles did not exhibit interparticle aggregation and morphological transformation during curing. The average size of the cured PGMA nanoparticles was consistent with that of the pristine PGMA nanoparticles © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this research, oil‐based Fe3O4 nanoparticles were prepared by means of coprecipitation method followed by a surface modification using lauric acid. Oil‐based Fe3O4 could disperse in styrene, and polystyrene/Fe3O4 (PS/Fe3O4) composite particles were prepared via miniemulsion polymerization in the presence of potassium peroxide (KPS) as an initiator, sodium dodecyl sulphate as a surfactant, hexadecane or sorbitan monolaurate(Span 20) as a costabilizer. The effects of Fe3O4 content, homogenization energy, amount of initiator, amount of surfactant and costabilizer on the conversion, size distributions of droplets and latex particles, nucleation mechanism and morphology of composite latex particles were investigated. The results showed that different nucleation mechanisms dominated during the course of reaction when polymerization conditions changed. The most important two key factors to influence the nucleation mechanism were homogenization energy and initiator. High homogenization energy provided critically stabilized size of droplets. Otherwise, secondary nucleation, including micellar and/or homogeneous nucleation, would take place rather than droplet nucleation when a water‐soluble initiator, KPS, was used. It resulted in two populations of latex particles, pure PS particles in smaller size and PS/Fe3O4 composite particles in larger size. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
