In this work, the poly(methyl methacrylate‐co‐methacrylic acid)/poly(methacrylic acid‐co‐N‐isopropylacrylamide) thermosensitive composite semi‐hollow latex particles was synthesized by three processes. The first process was to synthesize the poly(methyl methacrylate‐co‐methacrylic acid) (poly (MMA‐MAA)) copolymer latex particles by the method of soapless emulsion polymerization. The second process was to polymerize methacrylic acid (MAA), N‐isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm), and crosslinking agent, N,N′‐methylenebisacrylamide, in the presence of poly(MMA‐MAA) latex particles to form the linear poly(methyl methacrylate‐co‐methacrylic acid)/crosslinking poly(methacrylic acid‐co‐N‐isopropylacrylamide) (poly(MMA‐MAA)/poly(MAA‐NIPAAm)) core–shell latex particles with solid structure. In the third process, part of the linear poly(MMA‐MAA) core of core–shell latex particles was dissolved by ammonia to form the poly(MMA‐MAA)/poly(MAA‐NIPAAm) thermosensitive semi‐hollow latex particles. The morphologies of the semi‐hollow latex particles show that there is a hollow zone between the linear poly(MMA‐MAA) core and the crosslinked poly(MAA‐NIPAAm) shell. The crosslinking agent and shell composition significantly influenced the lower critical solution temperature of poly(MMA‐MAA)/poly(MAA‐NIPAAm) semi‐hollow latex particles. Besides, the poly(MMA‐MAA)/poly(MAA‐NIPAAm) thermosensitive semi‐hollow latex particles were used as carriers to load with the model drug, caffeine. The processes of caffeine loaded into the semi‐hollow latex particles appeared four situations, which was different from that of solid latex particles. In addition, the phenomenon of caffeine released from the semi‐hollow latex particles was obviously different from that of solid latex particles. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. In this work, the poly(methacrylic acid‐coN‐isopropylacrylamide) thermosensitive composite hollow latex particles was synthesized by a three‐step reaction. The first step was to synthesize the poly(methyl methacrylate‐co‐methacrylic acid) (poly(MMA‐MAA)) copolymer latex particles by the method of soapless emulsion polymerization. The second step was to polymerize methacrylic acid (MAA), N‐isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm), and N,N′‐methylenebisacrylamide in the presence of poly(MMA‐MAA) latex particles to form the linear poly(methyl methacrylate‐co‐methacrylic acid)/crosslinking poly(methacrylic acid‐coN‐isopropylacrylamide) (poly(MMA‐MAA)/poly(MAA‐NIPAAm)) core–shell latex particles. In the third step, the core–shell latex particles were heated in the presence of ammonia solution to form the crosslinking poly(MAA‐NIPAAm) thermosensitive hollow latex particles. The morphologies of poly(MMA‐MAA)/poly(MAA‐NIPAAm) core–shell latex particles and poly(MAA‐NIPAAm) hollow latex particles were observed. The influences of crosslinking agent and shell composition on the lower critical solution temperature of poly(MMA‐MAA)/poly(MAA‐NIPAAm) core–shell latex particles and poly(MAA‐NIPAAm) hollow latex particles were, respectively, studied. Besides, the poly(MAA‐NIPAAm) thermosensitive hollow latex particles were used as carriers to load with the model drug, caffeine. The effect of various variables on the amount of caffeine loading and the efficiency of caffeine release was investigated. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Sci., Part A: Polym. In this study, the poly(NIPAAm–MAA)/Fe3O4 hollow latex particles were synthesized by three steps. The first step was to synthesize the poly(methyl methacrylate‐co‐methylacrylate acid) (poly(MMA‐MAA)) copolymer latex particles by the method of soapless emulsion polymerization. Following the first step, the second step was to polymerize N‐isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm), MAA, and crosslinking agent (N,N'‐methylene‐bisacrylamide (MBA)) in the presence of poly(MMA‐MAA) latex particles to form the linear poly(MMA‐MAA)/crosslinking poly (NIPAAm‐MAA) core‐shell latex particles. After the previous processes, the core‐shell latex particles were heated in the presence of NH4OH to dissolve the linear poly(MMA‐MAA) core in order to form the poly(NIPAAm‐MAA) hollow latex particles. In the third step, Fe2+ and Fe3+ ions were introduced to bond with the ? COOH groups of MAA segments in the poly(NIPAAm‐MAA) hollow polymer latex particles. Further by a reaction with NH4OH and then Fe3O4 nanoparticles were generated in situ and the poly(NIPAAm‐MAA)/Fe3O4 magnetic composite hollow latex particles were formed. The concentrations of MAA, crosslinking agent (N,N'‐methylene bisacrylamide), and Fe3O4 nanoparticles were important factors to influence the morphology of hollow latex particles and lower critical solution temperature of poly(NIPAAm–MAA)/Fe3O4 magnetic composite hollow latex particles. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this study, the poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide‐methylacrylate acid)/Fe3O4/poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide‐methylacrylate acid) (poly(NIPAAm‐MAA)/Fe3O4/poly(NIPAAm‐MAA)) two‐shell magnetic composite hollow latex particles were synthesized by four steps. The poly(methyl methacrylate‐co‐methylacrylate acid) (poly(MMA‐MAA)) copolymer latex particles were synthesized first. Then, the second step was to polymerize NIPAAm, MAA, and crosslinking agent in the presence of poly(MMA‐MAA) latex particles to form the linear poly(MMA‐MAA)/crosslinking poly(NIPAAm‐MAA) core–shell latex particles. Then, the core–shell latex particles were heated in the presence of NH4OH to dissolve the linear poly(MMA‐MAA) core to form the poly(NIPAAm‐MAA) hollow latex particles. In the third step, the Fe3O4 nanoparticles were generated in the presence of poly(NIPAAm‐MAA) hollow polymer latex particles and formed the poly(NIPAAm‐MAA)/Fe3O4 magnetic composite hollow latex particles. The fourth step was to synthesize poly(NIPAAm‐MAA) in the presence of poly(NIPAAm‐MAA)/Fe3O4 latex particles to form the poly(NIPAAm‐MAA)/Fe3O4/poly(NIPAAm‐MAA) two‐shell magnetic composite hollow latex particles. The effect of various variables such as reactant concentration, monomer ratio, and pH value on the morphology and volume‐phase transition temperature of two‐shell magnetic composite hollow latex particles was studied. Moreover, the latex particles were used as carriers to load with caffeine, and the caffeine‐loading characteristics and caffeine release rate of latex particles were also studied. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Double‐shelled zirconia/titania (ZrO2/TiO2) hollow microspheres were prepared by the selective removal of the polymer components via the calcination of the corresponding tetra‐layer poly(N,N′‐methylenebisacryl amide‐co‐methacrylic acid) (P(MBA‐co‐MAA))/Zr(OH)4/poly(ethyleneglycol dimethacrylate‐co‐methacrylic acid) (P(EGDMA‐co‐MAA))/TiO2 hybrid microspheres. These tetra‐layer microspheres were synthesized by the combination of the distillation copolymerization of N,N(‐methylenebisacryl amide‐co‐methacrylic acid (MBA) or ethyleneglycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) crosslinker and methacrylic acid (MAA) for the preparation of polymer core and third‐layer as well as the controlled sol‐gel hydrolysis of inorganic precursors for the construction of zirconium hydroxide (Zr(OH)4) and titania (TiO2) layers. The thicknesses of zirconia and titania shell‐layers were conveniently controlled via varying the feed of zirconium n‐butoxide (Zr(OBu)4) and titanium tetrabutoxide (TBOT) during the sol‐gel hydrolysis, while the sizes of polymer layers were tuned through a multi‐stage distillation precipitation copolymerization. The structure and morphology of the resultant microspheres were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X‐ray diffractometer (XRD), X‐ray photoelectronic spectroscopy (XPS), and thermogrametric analysis (TGA).  相似文献

Summary: Raspberry‐like aggregates containing secondary nanospheres were studied. The formation of raspberry‐like aggregates was due to complexation between core‐shell microspheres and core‐corona micelles. The core‐shell microspheres were synthesized with soap‐free polymerization of styrene and methyl acrylic acid, which included carboxyl groups in the periphery. The micelles were self‐assembled by polystyrene‐block‐poly(4‐vinylpyridine), which contained pyridine groups in the corona. The driven force to form raspberry‐like aggregates was due to the affinity between the carboxyl and pyridine groups. The morphology of the raspberry‐like aggregates could be tuned by changing the ratio of the microspheres to micelles. IR measurements suggested that the raspberry‐like aggregates were like zwitterions.

The synthesis of new polymer colloids based on renewable resources, such as sugar‐derived monomers, is nowadays a matter of interest. These new polymeric particles should be useful in biomedical applications, such as drug delivery, because of their assumed biodegradability. In this work, two new families of polymer latex particles, based on a sugar‐derived monomer, 3‐O‐methacryloyl‐1,2:5,6‐di‐O‐isopropylidene‐α‐D ‐glucofuranose (3‐MDG), were produced and characterized. The syntheses of poly(3‐MDG) crosslinked particles and those obtained by copolymerization with methacrylic acid (MAA), poly(3‐MDG‐co‐MAA) crosslinked particles, were prepared by surfactant‐free emulsion polymerization in a batch reactor. The average particle diameter evolutions, the effect of pH of the dispersion medium on the final average diameters, together with the microscopic and morphological analysis of the particle's surface and inner dominium, were analyzed. Poly(3‐MDG‐co‐EGDMA) stable particles were obtained by adding low amounts of initiator. The surface‐charge density of these particles corresponded to the sulfate groups coming from the initiator. In the second family of latices, poly(3‐MDG‐co‐MAA‐co‐EGDMA) particles, DCP measurements and SEM and TEM observations showed that the sizes and surface characteristics depended on the amounts of MAA and crosslinker used in the reaction mixture. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Reversible addition‐fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization of a typical hydrophobic monomer of styrene within microreactor of shell‐corona hollow microspheres of poly(styrene‐co‐methacrylic acid) suspending in water is studied. The shell‐corona hollow microspheres contain a hydrophilic corona of poly(methacrylic acid) (PMAA) and a cross‐linked polystyrene shell, which can suspend in water because of the hydrophilic corona of PMAA. The size of the shell‐corona hollow microspheres is about 289 nm and the extent of the microcavity of the hollow microsphere is 154 nm. These shell‐corona hollow microspheres can act as microreactor, within which the typical hydrophobic monomer of styrene, the RAFT agent of S‐benzyl dithiobenzoate and the initiator of 2,2′‐azobisisobutyronitrile can be encapsulated and RAFT polymerization of styrene takes place in well controlled manner in water. It is found that the resultant polymer of polystyrene has a competitively low polydispersity index and its number‐average molecular weight linearly increases with monomer conversion. The method is believed to be a new strategy of RAFT polymerization of hydrophobic monomer in aqueous solution. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2010  相似文献

Biocompatible hollow poly(methyl acrylic acid-co-N-isopropylacrylamide-co-ethyleneglycol dimethacrylate)@cellulose succinate (P(MAA-co-NIPAAM-co-EGDMA)@CS) microspheres have been synthesized by employing uniform silica-MPS microspheres as template. Silica spheres were synthesized via Stöber method involving tetraethyl orthosilicate. The surface of resulting silica Stöber microspheres was modified using 3-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (MPS), a polymerizable silane coupling agent. The above reagent introduces carbon–carbon double bonds on microspheres’ surface. This strategy uses the copolymerization of the following monomers, methacrylic acid (MAA), N-isopropyl acrylamide (NIPAAM) and the ethyleneglycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA), which was used as cross-linker, aiming at fabricating the first shell. Distillation precipitation polymerization method was carried out with 2,2-azobis(2-methylpropionitrile) as initiator in acetonitrile aiming at coating the inorganic microspheres with organic shell of the above-mentioned copolymer. In continuation, cellulose succinate and cellulose powder was absorbed through electrostatic interactions onto microspheres’ surface and the isolated product was cross-linked through esteric bonds formation. The cellulose succinate hollow microspheres were obtained after the silica core removal. The resulting spheres were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and observed by scanning and transmission electron microscopy. Dynamic light scattering was used to study the hydrodynamic diameter of the synthesized microspheres. The anticancer drug daunorubicin was loaded in the spheres, and its release behavior was evaluated at acidic and slightly basic pH conditions, aiming at evaluating its behavior at the healthy and pathogenic tissues.  相似文献

Exfoliated montmorillonite (MMT)/poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) and MMT/poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide‐co‐acrylamide) [P(NIPAAm‐co‐AAm)] nanocomposites were fabricated by soap‐free emulsion polymerization. Interestingly, as the content of MMT was increased from 0 to 10 wt %, the glass transition temperature of MMT/PNIPAAm was decreased from 145 to 122 °C, whereas that of the MMT/P(NIPAAm‐co‐AAm) increased from 95 to 153 °C. Although the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of 32 °C for the MMT/PNIPAAm nanocomposites in aqueous solutions was slightly increased with the content of MMT, that of the MMT/P(NIPAAm‐co‐AAm) was decreased from 70 to 65 °C. A mechanism that the hydrogen bonds between the amide groups of PNIPAAm were interfered by the exfoliated MMT nano‐platelets for the MMT/PNIPAAm nanocomposites and the preferred absorption of acrylamide units to the MMT nanoplatelets rather than N‐isopropylacrylamide in the MMT/P(NIPAAm‐co‐AAm) nanocomposites was suggested to interpret these unusual transition behavior. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A series of SiO2/poly(styrene‐co‐butyl acrylate) nanocomposite microspheres with various morphologies (e.g., multicore–shell, normal core–shell, and raspberry‐like) were synthesized via miniemulsion polymerization. The results showed that the morphology of the composite latex particles was strongly influenced by the presence or absence of the soft monomer (butyl acrylate), the particle sizes of the silica, and the emulsifier concentrations. The incorporation of the soft monomer helped in forming the multicore–shell structure. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 44: 3202–3209, 2006  相似文献

Mesoporous polymer microspheres with gold (Au) nanoparticles inside their pores were prepared considering their surface functionality and porosity. The Au/polymer composite microspheres prepared were characterized by transmission electron microscope (TEM), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), and Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) techniques. The results showed that the adsorption of Au nanoparticles could be increased by imparting the pore structure and surface‐functional groups into the supporting polymer microspheres (in this study, poly (ethylene glycol dimethacrylate‐co‐acrylonitrile) and poly (EGDMA‐co‐AN) system). Above all, from this study, it was established that the porosity of the polymer microspheres is the most important factor that determines the distribution and adsorption amount of face‐centered cubic (fcc) Au nanoparticles in the final products. Our study showed that the continuous adsorption of Au nanoparticles with the aid of the large surface area and surface interaction sites formed more favorably the Au/polymer composite microspheres. The BET measurements of Au/poly(EGDMA‐co‐AN) composite microspheres reveals that the adsorption of Au nanoparticles into the pores kept the pore structure intact and made it more porous. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The electrically conductive polypyrrole/dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid/poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide‐co‐acrylic acid) (PPy/DBSA/poly(NIPAAm‐co‐AA)) composite microgels were synthesized by a chemical oxidation of pyrrole in the presence of DBSA as the primary dopant, and poly(NIPAAm‐co‐AA) microgels as the polymeric codopant and template, in which APS was used as the oxidant. It was proposed to prepare “intelligent” polymer microgel particles containing both thermosensitive and electrically conducting properties. The polymerization of pyrrole took place directly inside the microgel networks, leading to formation of composite microgels and the morphology was observed by transmission electron microscope. PPy particles interacted strongly with microgels, as the acid groups of microgels acted as the polymeric codopant. The composite microgels thus formed showed electrically conducting behavior dependent on humidity and temperature. At temperatures lower than lower critical solution temperature, the conductivity decreased with increasing the humidity and a small hysteresis phenomenon was observed. The hysteresis became indistinct when temperature was near volume phase transition temperature. However, after the treatment of high temperature and high humidity, the conductivity increased surprisingly due to the structure reorganization inside the composite microgels. The distinctive functionality of the PPy composite microgels was expected to be utilized in many attractive applications. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two thermo‐ and pH‐sensitive polypeptide‐based copolymers, poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide‐coN‐hydroxymethylacrylamide)‐b‐poly(L ‐lysine) (P(NIPAAm‐co‐HMAAm)‐b‐PLL, P1 ) and poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide‐coN‐hydroxymethylacrylamide)‐b‐poly(glutamic acid) (P(NIPAAm‐co‐HMAAm)‐b‐PGA, P2 ), have been designed and synthesized by the ring‐opening anionic polymerization of N‐carboxyanhydrides (NCA) with amino‐terminated P(NIPAAm‐co‐HMAAm). It was found that the block copolymers exhibit good biocompatibility and low toxicity. As a result of electrostatic interactions between the positively charged PLL and negatively charged PGA, P1 and P2 formed polyion complex (PIC) micelles consisting of polyelectrolyte complex cores and P(NIPAAm‐co‐HMAAm) shells in aqueous solution. The thermo‐ and pH‐sensitivity of the PIC micelles were studied by UV/Vis spectrophotometry, dynamic light scattering (DLS), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Moreover, fluorescent PIC micelles were achieved by introducing two fluorescent molecules with different colors. Photographs and confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) showed that the fluorescence‐labeled PIC micelles exhibit thermo‐ and pH‐dependent fluorescence, which may find wide applications in bioimaging in complicated microenvironments.  相似文献

A method of one‐stage soap‐free emulsion polymerization to synthesize narrowly dispersed core‐shell microspheres is proposed. Following this method, core‐shell microspheres of poly(styrene‐co‐4‐vinylpyridine), poly(styrene‐co‐methyl acrylic acid), and poly[styrene‐co‐2‐(acetoacetoxy)ethyl methacrylate‐co‐methyl acrylic acid] are synthesized by one‐stage soap‐free emulsion polymerization of a mixture of one or two hydrophobic monomers and a suitable hydrophilic monomer in water. The effect of the molar ratio of the hydrophobic monomer to the hydrophilic one on the size, the core thickness, and the shell thickness of the core‐shell microspheres is discussed. The molar ratio of the hydrophobic and hydrophilic monomers and the hydrophilicity of the resultant oligomers of the hydrophilic monomer are optimized to synthesize narrowly dispersed core‐shell microspheres. A possible mechanism of one‐stage soap‐free emulsion polymerization to synthesize core‐shell microspheres is suggested and coagglutination of the oligomers of the hydrophilic monomers on the hydrophobic core is considered to be the key to form core‐shell microspheres. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this thesis, we studied the convenient synthesis and characterizations of thermo‐responsive materials with double response. To achieve these, AB‐type diblock copolymers comprising of poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (NIPAAm) segment and poly(NIPAAm‐co‐(N‐(hydroxymethyl)acrylamide) (HMAAm)) one were designed. That was synthesized in one‐pot using an atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) technique. Poly(NIPAAm‐co‐HMAAm)s synthesized separately showed sensitive thermo‐response and the cloud point was completely tunable by the composition of HMAAm. As expected, the block copolymers exhibited double thermo‐responsive profiles in aqueous solution. The responsive behavior was discussed by precise trace by 1H NMR and turbidity measurements. From these results, we could confirm almost independent dehydration of each segment. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 46: 6142–6150, 2008  相似文献

In this work, poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide‐co‐acrylic acid) (poly(NIPAAm‐AA)) copolymer latex particles (microgels) were synthesized by the method of soapless emulsion polymerization. Poly(NIPAAm‐AA) copolymer microgels have the property of being thermosensitive. The concentration of acrylic acid (AA) and crosslinking agent N,N′‐methylenebisacrylamide were important factors to influence the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of poly(NIPAAm‐AA) microgels. The effects of AA and crosslinking agent on the swelling behavior of poly(NIPAAm‐AA) microgels were also studied. The poly(NIPAAm‐AA) copolymer microgels were then used as a thermosensitive drug carrier to load caffeine. The effects of concentration of AA and crosslinking agent on the control release of caffeine were investigated. How the AA content and crosslinking agent influenced the morphology and LCST of the microgels was discussed in detail. The relationship of morphology, swelling, and control release behavior of these thermosensitive microgels was established. A new scheme was proposed to interpret the control release of the microgels with different morphological structures. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The hairy poly(methacrylic acid‐co‐divinylbenzene)‐g‐poly(N‐isopropylacrylamide) (P(MAA‐co‐DVB)‐g‐PNIPAm) nanocapsules with pH‐responsive P(MAA‐co‐DVB) inner shell and temperature‐responsive PNIPAm brushes were prepared by combined distillation–precipitation copolymerization and surface thiol‐ene click grafting reaction using 3‐(trimethoxysilyl)propyl methacrylate‐modified silica (SiO2‐MPS) nanospheres as a sacrificial core material. The well‐defined PNIPAm was synthesized by a reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization. The chain end was converted to a thiol by chemical reduction. The PNIPAm was integrated into the nanocapsules via thiol‐ene click reaction. The surface thiol‐ene click reaction conduced to tunable grafting density of PNIPAm brushes. The grafting densities decreased from 0.70 chains nm?2 to 0.15 chains nm?2 with increasing the molecular weight of grafted PNIPAm chains. Using water soluble doxorubicin hydrochloride (DOX·HCl) as a model molecular, the tunable shell permeability of the nanocapsule was investigated in detail. The permeability constant can be tuned by controlling the thickness of the P(MAA‐co‐DVB) inner shell, the grafting density of PNIPAm brushes, and the environmental pH and temperature. The tunable shell permeability of these nanocapsules results in the release of the loaded guest molecules with manipulable releasing kinetics. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. Monodisperse poly(methacrylic acid/ethyleneglycoldimethacrylate) (MAA/EGDMA) hollow microcapsules, which exhibit pH‐responsive behavior, are prepared by diffusion of cationic surfactants and hydrophobic interaction. During the association of the negatively charged hydrogel microspheres and an oppositely charged surfactant (cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, CTA(+)B), the hydrophobic polymer‐surfactant complexes that form are separated from the internal water; consequently, a hollow structure can be formed. Confocal laser scanning microscopy, UV spectroscopy and zeta potential are employed to study the formation of the hollow structure during the diffusion of the cationic surfactant. The controlled release behavior of methylene blue as a model drug from the as‐prepared poly(MAA/EGDMA) microcapsules with a hollow structure is investigated under different pH conditions. The hollow structure can be retained, even during repetitive pH changes.

Our objective was to synthesize and evaluate lactic acid‐ and carbonate‐based biodegradable core‐ and core‐corona crosslinkable copolymers for anticancer drug delivery. Methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)‐b‐poly(carbonate‐co‐lactide‐co‐5‐methyl‐5‐allyloxycarbonyl‐1,3‐dioxane‐2‐one) [mPEG‐b‐P(CB‐co‐LA‐co‐MAC)] and methoxy poly(ethylene glycol)‐b‐poly(acryloyl carbonate)‐b‐poly(carbonate‐co‐lactide) [mPEG‐b‐PMAC‐b‐P(CB‐co‐LA)] copolymers were synthesized by ring‐opening polymerization of LA, CB, and MAC using mPEG as an macroinitiator and 1,8‐diazabicycloundec‐7‐ene as a catalyst. These amphiphilic copolymers which exhibited low polydispersity and critical micelle concentration values (0.8–1 mg/L) were used to prepare micelles with or without drug and stabilized by crosslinking via radical polymerization of double bonds introduced in the core and interface to improve stability. mPEG114b‐P(CB8co‐LA35co‐MAC2.5) had a higher drug encapsulation efficiency (78.72% ± 0.15%) compared to mPEG114b‐PMAC2.5b‐P(CB9co‐LA39) (20.29% ± 0.11%).1H NMR and IR spectroscopy confirmed successful crosslinking (~70%) while light scattering and transmission electron microscopy were used to determine micelle size and morphology. Crosslinked micelles demonstrated enhanced stability against extensive dilution with aqueous solvents and in the presence of physiological simulating serum concentration. Furthermore, bicalutamide‐loaded crosslinked micelles were more potent compared to non‐crosslinked micelles in inhibiting LNCaP cell proliferation irrespective of polymer type. Finally, these results suggest crosslinked micelles to be promising drug delivery vehicles for chemotherapy. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2013  相似文献
