A special eight-resonance unitary and analytic model of nucleon electromagnetic structure is used to analyze first the classical proton form factor data obtained by the Rosenbluth technique, and then also the contradictory JLab proton polarization data on the ratio μp G Ep(Q 2)/G Mp(Q 2) , with the aim to investigate the implications of the latter for the behavior of strange nucleon form factors.  相似文献

We discuss the applicability of pQCD to the elastic scattering of electrons on protons and deuterons. We analyze the Q2-dependence of the reduced deuteron form factor, taking into account the recent data on the electric proton form factor and we find that the value of the QCD-scale parameter Λ differs essentially from the value Λ = 0.1 GeV, previously found using the dipole parametrization of the electromagnetic nucleon form factors GE and GM. Moreover, the predicted scaling behavior of the reduced deuteron form factor cannot be recovered in the Dirac and Pauli representations for the nucleon electromagnetic form factors. We construct a non-local gauge-invariant Lagrangian to model the electromagnetic interaction of the proton. The Lagrangian includes all allowed operators with dimension up to five. We compute the two-photon exchange contribution to elastic electron–proton scattering using this effective non-local Lagrangian. The one-loop calculation in this model includes the standard box and cross box diagram with the standard on-shell form of the hadron electromagnetic vertices. Besides this we find an extra contribution, which depends on an unknown constant. We use experimentally extracted form factors for our calculation. We find that the correction to the reduced cross section is slightly non-linear as a function of the photon longitudinal polarization ε. The non-linearity seen is within the experimental error bars of the Rosenbluth data. The final result completely explains the difference between the form factor ratio GE/GM extracted by Rosenbluth separation technique at SLAC and polarization transfer technique at JLAB.  相似文献

The recoil proton polarization in the π0 production off the proton with longitudinally polarized electron beam has been studied as a means to measure quadrupole components in the N to Δ transition. On top of the Δ resonance a high sensitivity to a possible Coulomb quadrupole excitation is found in parallel kinematics. The ratio of S 1+/M 1+ multipole amplitudes can be determined from the ratio of the two in-scattering-plane recoil proton polarization components. Avoiding the absolute measurement of the polarizations, such a ratio allows small experimental uncertainties. Furthermore, the electron helicity independent proton polarization component enables the characterization of resonant and non-resonant pieces. Received: 3 November 1997  相似文献

The influence of the neutron electric form factor on various observables in two-body break-up of deuterons by electrons such as differential cross section, beam, target and beam-target asymmetries and outgoing nucleon polarization as well is investigated for different kinematic regions. The electron-deuteron vector asymmetryA ed V and the outgoing nucleon polarization component P′x(n) are the most promising observables in and off the quasi-free region for a determination ofG En. Also the single polarization observablesA d T and Py 0(p) and the double polarization observable P′z(n) show significant influences fromG En.  相似文献

We propose a two parameter expression for the high momentum transfer behaviour of the ratio of proton form factors GM(Q2)/QE(Q2) based on perturbation theory calculations in Quantum Chromodynamics. A fit to the present experimental data and its consistency with a previous fit to the high Q2 behaviour of the Dirac form factor [1] is also discussed.  相似文献

The polarization transfer from longitudinally polarized electrons to protons in the elastic scattering p( e, e' p) has been measured around Q2 = 0.4 (GeV/c)2 with the three-spectrometer facility at the Mainz microtron MAMI. From this polarization transfer the ratio G Ep/(G Mpp) has been determined. The ratio is found to be slightly less than unity in agreement with recent results from other laboratories and from the Rosenbluth separation of cross-sections measured with unpolarized electrons. The relativistic theory of the inverse beta-decay of polarized neutron,ν e +n → > p +e -, in strong magnetic field is developed. For the proton wave function we use the exact solution of the Dirac equation in the magnetic filed that enables us to account exactly for effects of the proton momentum quantization in the magnetic field and also for the proton recoil motion. The effect of nucleons anomalous magnetic moments in strong magnetic fields is also discussed. We examine the cross-section for different energies and directions of propagation of the initial neutrino accounting for neutron polarization. It is shown that in the super-strong magnetic field the totally polarized neutron matter is transparent for neutrinos propagating antiparallel to the direction of polarization. The developed relativistic approach can be used for calculations of cross-sections of the other URCA processes in strong magnetic fields.  相似文献

Electron scattering Coulomb form factors for the single-particle quadrupole transitions in p-shell and sd-shell nuclei have been studied. Core polarization effects are included through a microscopic theory that includes excitations from the core orbits up to higher orbits with 2ω excitations. The modified surface delta interaction is adopted as a residual interaction. The results are discussed for the ( 1p 1/2 -1↦1p 3/2 -1) proton transition in 15N, ( 1d 5/2↦2s 1/2) neutron transition in 17O and ( 1d 3/2 -1↦2s 1/2 -1) proton transition in 39K. The inclusion of core polarization effects modifies the form factors markedly and describes the experimental data very well in both the absolute strength and the momentum transfer dependence. World data on the lepton-charge asymmetry in the elastic and inelastic lepton scattering off the proton and nuclei are compiled and discussed. After reviewing the published results, we compare the elastic data to a model calculation of the two-photon-exchange mechanism. We show that the existing data do not provide any evidence for enhancement of the two-photon contribution. At confidence level 95% the data allow to exclude the two-photon exchange as an explanation for the difference between Rosenbluth and polarization transfer measurements of proton electromagnetic form factors.  相似文献

In treating the relativistic 3-quark problem, a dressed-quark propagator parameterization is used which is compatible with recent lattice data and pion observables. Furthermore 2-quark correlations are modeled as a series of quark loops in the scalar and axialvector channel. The resulting reduced Faddeev equations are solved for nucleon and delta. Nucleon electromagnetic form factors are calculated in a fully covariant and gauge-invariant scheme. Whereas the proton electric form factor G E and the nucleon magnetic moments are described correctly, the neutron electric form factor and the ratio G E/G M for the proton appear to be quenched. The influence of vector mesons on the form factors is investigated which amounts to a 25% modification of the electromagnetic proton radii within this framework. We study the asymptotic behavior of the ratio of Pauli and Dirac electromagnetic nucleon form factors, F2/F1, in time-like region, for different parametrizations built for the space-like region. We investigate how fast the ratio F2/F1 approaches the asymptotic limits according to the Phragmèn-Lindel?f theorem. We show that the QCD-inspired logarithmic behavior of this ratio results in very far asymptotics, experimentally unachievable. This is also confirmed by the normal component of the nucleon polarization, Py, in e+ + e-N + ˉ (in collisions of unpolarized leptons), which is a very interesting observable, with respect to this theorem. Finally we observe that the 1/Q parametrization of F2/F1 contradicts this theorem.  相似文献

In the covariant quark-diquark model the effective Bethe-Salpeter (BS) equations for the nucleon and the Δ are solved including scalar and axial vector diquark correlations. Their quark substructure is effectively taken into account in both, the interaction kernel of the BS equations and the currents employed to calculate nucleon observables. Electromagnetic current conservation is maintained. The electric form factors of proton and neutron match the data. Their magnetic moments improve considerably by including axial vector diquarks and photon induced scalar-axial vector transitions. The isoscalar magnetic moment can be reproduced, the isovector contribution is about 15% too small. The ratio μG E/G M and the axial and strong couplings g A, g NN, provide an upper bound on the relative importance of axial vector diquarks confirming that scalar diquarks nevertheless describe the dominant 2-quark correlations inside nucleons. The electromagnetic form factors for pions and nucleons are considered within the model of quark-gluon strings, where the momentum-transfer dependence of hadronic form factors is determined by the intercepts of the corresponding Regge trajectories and by the Sudakov form factor. Analytic expressions found for form factors in the timelike region admit an analytic continuation to the spacelike region. The resulting form factors for pions and nucleons comply well with experimental data both for positive and for negative values of the squared momentum transfer q 2. It is shown that the distinctions between the absolute values of the pion and nucleon form factors F π(q 2), G m (q 2), and F 2(q 2) at positive values of q 2 and those at negative values of this variable are associated with the analytic properties of the double-logarithmic term in the exponent of the Sudakov form factor. The spin structure of the amplitudes for quark transitions into hadrons that is proposed in the present study makes it possible to describe fairly well available experimental data on the Pauli form factor F 2 and on the ratio G e /G m .  相似文献

New short baseline neutrino experiments open new possibilities of high precision study of different neutrino processes. We present here results of the calculation of the polarization of final nucleon in elastic NC $\nu _\mu (\bar \nu _\mu )$ -nucleon scattering. In a numerical analysis the sensitivity to the different choices of the axial and axial strange form factors is examined. Measurements of the polarization of the final proton in elastic e-p scattering drastically changed our knowledge about the electromagnetic form factors of the proton. From measurement of the nucleon polarization in the NC elastic scattering a new additional information about the axial G A (Q 2) and the strange axial G s A (Q 2) form factors of the nucleon could be inferred.  相似文献

The ratio G e n /G m n of the electric to the magnetic form factor of the neutron has been measured by analyzing the polarization of the recoiling neutron in quasi-elastic scattering of longitudinally polarized electrons from deuterium at the Q 2 values of 0.45, 1.15, and 1.47 (GeV/c)2. The experiment has been performed in Hall C of the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. With G m n being known G e n can be deduced. The preliminary results show that the lowest Q 2 points follow the Galster parametrization and that the 1.47 (GeV/c)2 point rises above this parametrization.Received: 30 September 2002, Published online: 22 October 2003PACS: 13.40.Gp Electromagnetic form factors - 14.20.Dh Protons and neutrons - 24.70. + s Polarization phenomena in reactions  相似文献

The theoretical and experimental status of the isovector axial-vector current form factors G A(q 2) and G P(q 2) of the nucleon is reviewed. We also describe a new calculation of these form factors in manifestly Lorentz-invariant chiral perturbation theory (ChPT) with the inclusion of axial-vector mesons as explicit degrees of freedom.  相似文献
