We consider regression models with multiple correlated responses for each design point. Under the null hypothesis, a linear regression is assumed. For the least-squares residuals of this linear regression, we establish the limit of the partial sums. This limit is a projection on a certain subspace of the reproducing Kernel Hilbert space of a multivariate Brownian motion. Based on this limit, we propose a significance test of Kolmogorov-Smirnov type to test the null hypothesis and show that this result can be used to study a change-point problem in the case of linear profile data (panel data). We compare our proposed method, which does not rely on any distributional assumptions, with the likelihood ratio test in a simulation study.  相似文献

The problem of subsampling in two-sample and K-sample settings is addressed where both the data and the statistics of interest take values in general spaces. We focus on the case where each sample is a stationary time series, and construct subsampling confidence intervals and hypothesis tests with asymptotic validity. Some examples are also given, and the problem of optimal block size choice is discussed.  相似文献

A new nonparametric approach to the problem of testing the joint independence of two or more random vectors in arbitrary dimension is developed based on a measure of association determined by interpoint distances. The population independence coefficient takes values between 0 and 1, and equals zero if and only if the vectors are independent. We show that the corresponding statistic has a finite limit distribution if and only if the two random vectors are independent; thus we have a consistent test for independence. The coefficient is an increasing function of the absolute value of product moment correlation in the bivariate normal case, and coincides with the absolute value of correlation in the Bernoulli case. A simple modification of the statistic is affine invariant. The independence coefficient and the proposed statistic both have a natural extension to testing the independence of several random vectors. Empirical performance of the test is illustrated via a comparative Monte Carlo study.  相似文献

In this paper we propose a new test for the multivariate two-sample problem. The test statistic is the difference of the sum of all the Euclidean interpoint distances between the random variables from the two different samples and one-half of the two corresponding sums of distances of the variables within the same sample. The asymptotic null distribution of the test statistic is derived using the projection method and shown to be the limit of the bootstrap distribution. A simulation study includes the comparison of univariate and multivariate normal distributions for location and dispersion alternatives. For normal location alternatives the new test is shown to have power similar to that of the t- and T2-Test.  相似文献

We consider a Bayesian-martingale approach to the general change-point detection problem. In our setting the change-point represents a random time of bifurcation of two probability measures given on the space of right-continuous functions. We derive a reflecting backward stochastic differential equation (RBSDE) for the value process related to the disorder problem and show that in classical cases of the Wiener and Poisson disorder problems this RBSDE is equivalent to free-boundary problems for parabolic differential and differential–difference operators respectively.  相似文献

We consider the problem of setting bootstrap confidence regions for multivariate parameters based on data depth functions. We prove, under mild regularity conditions, that depth-based bootstrap confidence regions are second-order accurate in the sense that their coverage error is of order n−1, given a random sample of size n. The results hold in general for depth functions of types A and D, which cover as special cases the Tukey depth, the majority depth, and the simplicial depth. A simulation study is also provided to investigate empirically the bootstrap confidence regions constructed using these three depth functions.  相似文献

For continuous random variables, many dependence concepts and measures of association can be expressed in terms of the corresponding copula only and are thus independent of the marginal distributions. This interrelationship generally fails as soon as there are discontinuities in the marginal distribution functions. In this paper, we consider an alternative transformation of an arbitrary random variable to a uniformly distributed one. Using this technique, the class of all possible copulas in the general case is investigated. In particular, we show that one of its members—the standard extension copula introduced by Schweizer and Sklar—captures the dependence structures in an analogous way the unique copula does in the continuous case. Furthermore, we consider measures of concordance between arbitrary random variables and obtain generalizations of Kendall's tau and Spearman's rho that correspond to the sample version of these quantities for empirical distributions.  相似文献

We study non-parametric tests for checking parametric hypotheses about a multivariate density f of independent identically distributed random vectors Z1,Z2,… which are observed under additional noise with density ψ. The tests we propose are an extension of the test due to Bickel and Rosenblatt [On some global measures of the deviations of density function estimates, Ann. Statist. 1 (1973) 1071-1095] and are based on a comparison of a nonparametric deconvolution estimator and the smoothed version of a parametric fit of the density f of the variables of interest Zi. In an example the loss of efficiency is highlighted when the test is based on the convolved (but observable) density g=f*ψ instead on the initial density of interest f.  相似文献

Spearman’s rank-correlation coefficient (also called Spearman’s rho) represents one of the best-known measures to quantify the degree of dependence between two random variables. As a copula-based dependence measure, it is invariant with respect to the distribution’s univariate marginal distribution functions. In this paper, we consider statistical tests for the hypothesis that all pairwise Spearman’s rank correlation coefficients in a multivariate random vector are equal. The tests are nonparametric and their asymptotic distributions are derived based on the asymptotic behavior of the empirical copula process. Only weak assumptions on the distribution function, such as continuity of the marginal distributions and continuous partial differentiability of the copula, are required for obtaining the results. A nonparametric bootstrap method is suggested for either estimating unknown parameters of the test statistics or for determining the associated critical values. We present a simulation study in order to investigate the power of the proposed tests. The results are compared to a classical parametric test for equal pairwise Pearson’s correlation coefficients in a multivariate random vector. The general setting also allows the derivation of a test for stochastic independence based on Spearman’s rho.  相似文献

Autoregressive time series models of order p have p+2 parameters, the mean, the variance of the white noise and the p autoregressive parameters. Change in any of these over time is a sign of disturbance that is important to detect. The methods of this paper can test for change in any one of these p+2 parameters separately, or in any collection of them. They are available in forms that make one-sided tests possible, furthermore, they can be used to test for a temporary change. The test statistics are based on the efficient score vector. The large sample properties of the change-point estimator are also explored.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the problem of testing for parameter changes in time series models based on a moving estimates (ME) test. It is widely accepted that detecting some changes, for instance, those caused by temporary parameter shifts by the existing cusum test is difficult. A MV test with a fixed bandwidth has been developed to circumvent the defect, but the test still does not perform well under certain conditions. Motivated by this, we propose a MV test with a time varying bandwidth to outperform the original test. In order to illustrate our findings, we have provided simulation results.  相似文献

The method of Laplace is used to approximate posterior probabilities for a collection of polynomial regression models when the errors follow a process with a noninvertible moving average component. These results are useful in the problem of period-change analysis of variable stars and in assessing the posterior probability that a time series with trend has been overdifferenced. The nonstandard covariance structure induced by a noninvertible moving average process can invalidate the standard Laplace method. A number of analytical tools is used to produce corrected Laplace approximations. These tools include viewing the covariance matrix of the observations as tending to a differential operator. The use of such an operator and its Green's function provides a convenient and systematic method of asymptotically inverting the covariance matrix. In certain cases there are two different Laplace approximations, and the appropriate one to use depends upon unknown parameters. This problem is dealt with by using a weighted geometric mean of the candidate approximations, where the weights are completely data-based and such that, asymptotically, the correct approximation is used. The new methodology is applied to an analysis of the prototypical long-period variable star known as Mira.  相似文献

This paper focuses on the problem of the estimation of a distribution on an arbitrary complete separable metric space when the data points are subject to censoring by a general class of random sets. If the censoring mechanism is either totally observable or totally ordered, a reverse probability estimator may be defined in this very general framework. Functional central limit theorems are proven for the estimator when the underlying space is Euclidean. Applications are discussed, and the validity of bootstrap methods is established in each case.  相似文献

Deheuvels proposed a rank test of independence based on a Cramér-von Mises functional of the empirical copula process. Using a general result on the asymptotic distribution of this process under sequences of contiguous alternatives, the local power curve of Deheuvels’ test is computed in the bivariate case and compared to that of competing procedures based on linear rank statistics. The Gil-Pelaez inversion formula is used to make additional comparisons in terms of a natural extension of Pitman's measure of asymptotic relative efficiency.  相似文献

Structural test in regression on functional variables   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Many papers deal with structural testing procedures in multivariate regression. More recently, various estimators have been proposed for regression models involving functional explanatory variables. Thanks to these new estimators, we propose a theoretical framework for structural testing procedures adapted to functional regression. The procedures introduced in this paper are innovative and make the link between former works on functional regression and others on structural testing procedures in multivariate regression. We prove asymptotic properties of the level and the power of our procedures under general assumptions that cover a large scope of possible applications: tests for no effect, linearity, dimension reduction, …  相似文献

Parallel to Cox's [JRSS B34 (1972) 187-230] proportional hazards model, generalized logistic models have been discussed by Anderson [Bull. Int. Statist. Inst. 48 (1979) 35-53] and others. The essential assumption is that the two densities ratio has a known parametric form. A nice property of this model is that it naturally relates to the logistic regression model for categorical data. In astronomic, demographic, epidemiological, and other studies the variable of interest is often truncated by an associated variable. This paper studies generalized logistic models for the two-sample truncated data problem, where the two lifetime densities ratio is assumed to have the form exp{α+φ(x;β)}. Here φ is a known function of x and β, and the baseline density is unspecified. We develop a semiparametric maximum likelihood method for the case where the two samples have a common truncation distribution. It is shown that inferences for β do not depend the nonparametric components. We also derive an iterative algorithm to maximize the semiparametric likelihood for the general case where different truncation distributions are allowed. We further discuss how to check goodness of fit of the generalized logistic model. The developed methods are illustrated and evaluated using both simulated and real data.  相似文献

Considered are modifications of a rank test of randomness for the one- and multi-dimensional regular design cases as well as for the one- and multi-dimensional random design cases. The null hypothesis is that all observations are independent and identically distributed. The main result is the proof of consistency of the test in each of the above cases against two general alternatives.Alternative 1: there exists a pairwise disjoint partion U i =1 m D i =D, where D d1, is a bounded domain inside which one makes observations, such that (1) if an observation point falls insideD i , then the corresponding observed value is the realization of a random variable i i = l,...,m; (2) there exists an ordering % MathType!MTEF!2!1!+-% feaafeart1ev1aaatCvAUfeBSjuyZL2yd9gzLbvyNv2CaerbuLwBLn% hiov2DGi1BTfMBaeXafv3ySLgzGmvETj2BSbqefm0B1jxALjhiov2D% aebbfv3ySLgzGueE0jxyaibaiGc9yrFr0xXdbba91rFfpec8Eeeu0x% Xdbba9frFj0-OqFfea0dXdd9vqaq-JfrVkFHe9pgea0dXdar-Jb9hs% 0dXdbPYxe9vr0-vr0-vqpWqaaeaabiGaciaacaqabeaadaqaaqGaaO% qaamXvP5wqonvsaeHbfv3ySLgzaGqbaiab-Tha7jabe67a4Hqbdiab% +LgaPnaaBaaaleaacaWGRbaabeaakiab-1ha9naaDaaaleaacaWGRb% Gaeyypa0JaaGymaaqaaiaad2gaaaaaaa!4C2D!\[\{ \xi i_k \} _{k = 1}^m \], where % MathType!MTEF!2!1!+-% feaafeart1ev1aaatCvAUfeBSjuyZL2yd9gzLbvyNv2CaerbuLwBLn% hiov2DGi1BTfMBaeXafv3ySLgzGmvETj2BSbqefm0B1jxALjhiov2D% aebbfv3ySLgzGueE0jxyaibaiGc9yrFr0xXdbba91rFfpec8Eeeu0x% Xdbba9frFj0-OqFfea0dXdd9vqaq-JfrVkFHe9pgea0dXdar-Jb9hs% 0dXdbPYxe9vr0-vr0-vqpWqaaeaabiGaciaacaqabeaadaqaaqGaaO% qaaiabe67a4nXvP5wqonvsaeHbfv3ySLgzaGqbdiab-LgaPnaaBaaa% leaacaWGRbaabeaaaaa!454D!\[\xi i_k \] is stochastically smaller than % MathType!MTEF!2!1!+-% feaafeart1ev1aaatCvAUfeBSjuyZL2yd9gzLbvyNv2CaerbuLwBLn% hiov2DGi1BTfMBaeXafv3ySLgzGmvETj2BSbqefm0B1jxALjhiov2D% aebbfv3ySLgzGueE0jxyaibaiGc9yrFr0xXdbba91rFfpec8Eeeu0x% Xdbba9frFj0-OqFfea0dXdd9vqaq-JfrVkFHe9pgea0dXdar-Jb9hs% 0dXdbPYxe9vr0-vr0-vqpWqaaeaabiGaciaacaqabeaadaqaaqGaaO% qaaiabe67a4nXvP5wqonvsaeHbfv3ySLgzaGqbdiab-LgaPnaaBaaa% leaacaWGRbaabeaakmaaBaaaleaacqGHRaWkcaaIXaaabeaakiaacY% cacaWGRbGaeyypa0JaaGymaiaacYcacaGGUaGaaiOlaiaac6cacaGG% SaGaamyBaiabgkHiTiaaigdaaaa!509B!\[\xi i_k _{ + 1} ,k = 1,...,m - 1\], (3) the partition is independent of the number of observation points. We develop optimal rank-based procedures for testing affine-invariant linear hypotheses on the parameters of a multivariate general linear model with elliptical VARMA errors. We propose a class of optimal procedures that are based either on residual (pseudo-)Mahalanobis signs and ranks, or on absolute interdirections and lift-interdirection ranks, i.e., on hyperplane-based signs and ranks. The Mahalanobis versions of these procedures are strictly affine-invariant, while the hyperplane-based ones are asymptotically affine-invariant. Both versions generalize the univariate signed rank procedures proposed by Hallin and Puri (J. Multivar. Anal. 50 (1994) 175), and are locally asymptotically most stringent under correctly specified radial densities. Their AREs with respect to Gaussian procedures are shown to be convex linear combinations of the AREs obtained in Hallin and Paindaveine (Ann. Statist. 30 (2002) 1103; Bernoulli 8 (2002) 787) for the pure location and purely serial models, respectively. The resulting test statistics are provided under closed form for several important particular cases, including multivariate Durbin-Watson tests, VARMA order identification tests, etc. The key technical result is a multivariate asymptotic linearity result proved in Hallin and Paindaveine (Asymptotic linearity of serial and nonserial multivariate signed rank statistics, submitted).  相似文献

Homogeneity tests based on several progressively Type-II censored samples   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
In this paper, we discuss the problem of testing the homogeneity of several populations when the available data are progressively Type-II censored. Defining for each sample a univariate counting process, we can modify all the methods that were developed during the last two decades (see e.g. [P.K. Andersen, Ø. Borgan, R. Gill, N. Keiding, Statistical Models Based on Counting Processes, Springer, New York, 1993]) for use to this problem. An important aspect of these tests is that they are based on either linear or non-linear functionals of a discrepancy process (DP) based on the comparison of the cumulative hazard rate (chr) estimated from each sample with the chr estimated from the whole sample (viz., the aggregation of all the samples), leading to either linear tests or non-linear tests. Both these kinds of tests suffer from some serious drawbacks. For example, it is difficult to extend non-linear tests to the K-sample situation when K?3. For this reason, we propose here a new class of non-linear tests, based on a chi-square type functional of the DP, that can be applied to the K-sample problem for any K?2.  相似文献

In this article we study a semiparametric generalized partially linear model when the covariates are missing at random. We propose combining local linear regression with the local quasilikelihood technique and weighted estimating equation to estimate the parameters and nonparameters when the missing probability is known or unknown. We establish normality of the estimators of the parameter and asymptotic expansion for the estimators of the nonparametric part. We apply the proposed models and methods to a study of the relation between virologic and immunologic responses in AIDS clinical trials, in which virologic response is classified into binary variables. We also give simulation results to illustrate our approach.  相似文献
