The steady laminar flow of viscous fluid from a curved porous domain under a radial magnetic field is considered. The fluid flow by a curved domain is due to peristaltic waves present at the boundary walls. The whole analysis is based on porosity(Darcy number) effects. Moreover, the effects of second-order slip on the rheology analysis are also discussed. Due to the complex nature of the flow regime, we have governed the rheological equations by using curvilinear coordinates in the fixed frame. The physical influence of magnetic(Hartmann number) and porosity(Darcy number)parameters on the rheological features of peristaltic transportation are argued in detailed(in the wave frame). Additionally, in the current study, the complex wavy pattern on both boundary walls of the channel is used. The whole rheological study is based on ancient, but medically valid, assumptions of creeping phenomena and long wavelength assumptions. Analytical solutions of the governing equations are obtained by using the simple integration technique in Mathematica software 11.0. The core motivation of the present analysis is to perceive the physical influence of embedded parameters, such as the dimensionless radius of the curvature parameter, magnetic parameter, porosity parameter, different amplitude ratios of complex peristaltic waves, first-and second-order slip parameters, on the axial velocity, pressure gradient, local wall shear stress, tangential component of the extra-stress tensor, pumping and trapping phenomena.  相似文献

We discuss the effects of the surface slip on streamline patterns and their bifurcations for the peristaltic transport of a Newtonian fluid. The flow is in a two-dimensional symmetric channel or an axisymmetric tube. An exact expression for the stream function is obtained in the wave frame under the assumptions of long wavelength and low Reynolds number for both cases. For the discussion of the particle path in the wave frame, a system of nonlinear autonomous differential equations is established and the methods of dynamical systems are used to discuss the local bifurcations and their topological changes. Moreover, all types of bifurcations and their topological changes are discussed graphically. Finally, the global bifurcation diagram is used to summarize the bifurcations.  相似文献

The effects of both magnetic field and wall slip conditions on the peristaltic transport of a Newtonian fluid in an asymmetric channel are studied analytically and numerically. The channel asymmetry is generated by propagation of waves on the channel walls travelling with different amplitudes, phases but with the same speed. The long wavelength and low Reynolds number assumptions are considered in obtaining solution for the flow. The flow is investigated in a wave frame of reference moving with velocity of the wave. Closed form expressions have been obtained for the stream function and the axial velocity component in fixed frame. The effects of phase difference, Knudsen number and magnetic field on the pumping characteristics and velocity field are discussed. Several known results of interest are found to follow as particular cases of the solution of the problem considered.  相似文献

In the present investigation we have analyzed the peristaltic flow when the viscous fluid with variable viscosity is bounded with convective walls. The combined effects of thermaldiffusion (Soret effects) and diffusion-thermo (Dufour effect) are considered. Convective form of the heat and mass transport phenomenon has been given special attention in addition to the effects of magnetic field. Mathematical formulation for the physical systemis derived and simplified using long wavelength and low Reynolds number approximation. Series solutions for the velocity, temperature andmass concentration fields are computed and elaborated for different physical quantities including magnetic parameter, Soret and Dufour effects, Biot numbers, etc. Streamlines analysis is presented showing the effects of bolus movement.  相似文献

In this paper, the effects of both rotation and magnetic field of the peristaltic transport of a second-order fluid through a porous medium in a channel are studied analytically and computed numerically. The material is represented by the constitutive equations for a second-order fluid. Closed-form solutions under the consideration of long wavelength and low Reynolds number is presented. The analytical expressions for the pressure gradient, pressure rise, friction force, stream function, shear stress, and velocity are obtained in the physical domain. The effects of the non-dimensional wave amplitude, porosity, magnetic field, rotation, and the dimensionless time-mean flow in the wave frame are analyzed theoretically and computed numerically. Numerical results are given and illustrated graphically in each case considered. Comparison was made with the results obtained in the presence and absence of rotation, magnetic field, and porosity. The results indicate that the effects of the non-dimensional wave amplitude, porosity, magnetic field, rotation, and the dimensionless time-mean flow are very pronounced in the phenomena.  相似文献

The present prospective theoretical investigation deals with analysis of the peristaltic-ciliary transport of a developing embryo within the fallopian tubal fluid in the human fallopian tube. A mathematical model of peristalsis-cilia induced flow of viscoelastic fluid characterized by the third grade fluid model within the fallopian tubal fluid in a finite two dimensional narrow tube is developed. Non-linear partial differential equation resulting from the modelling of the proposed model is solved using perturbation method. Flow variables like axial and radial velocities, appropriate residue time over tube length, pressure difference over wavelength and stream function are analyzed for embedded parameters and constants. Salient features of the pumping characteristics and trapping phenomenon are discussed in detail. The analysis showed that embedded parameters and constants have opposite effects on axial velocity and appropriate residue time over tube length. Moreover, a comparison of the peristaltic flow with the peristaltic-ciliary flow and the third grade fluid with the linearly viscous fluid is made as a special case. The relevance of the current results to the transport of a developing embryo within the fallopian tubal fluid is also explored. It reveals that, third grade fluid instead of the linearly viscous fluid and the inclusion of cilia along with peristalsis help to complete the required mitotic divisions while transporting the developing embryo within the fallopian tubal fluid in the human fallopian tube.  相似文献

The steady flow and heat transfer of an electrically conducting fluid with variable viscosity and electrical conductivity between two parallel plates in the presence of a transverse magnetic field is investigated. It is assumed that the flow is driven by combined action of axial pressure gradient and uniform motion of the upper plate. The governing nonlinear equations of momentum and energy transport are solved numerically using a shooting iteration technique together with a sixth-order Runge-Kutta integration algorithm. Solutions are presented in graphical form and given in terms of fluid velocity, fluid temperature, skin friction and heat transfer rate for various parametric values. Our results reveal that the combined effect of magnetic field, viscosity, exponents of variable properties, various fluid and heat transfer dimensionless quantities and the electrical conductivity variation, have significant impact on the hydromagnetic and electrical properties of the fluid.  相似文献

Analytical solutions for the peristaltic flow of a magneto hydrodynamic(MHD) Sisko fluid in a channel, under the effects of strong and weak magnetic fields, are presented. The governing nonlinear problem, for the strong magnetic field,is solved using the matched asymptotic expansion. The solution for the weak magnetic field is obtained using a regular perturbation method. The main observation is the existence of a Hartman boundary layer for the strong magnetic field at the location of the two plates of the channel. The thickness of the Hartmann boundary layer is determined analytically. The effects of a strong magnetic field and the shear thinning parameter of the Sisko fluid on the velocity profile are presented graphically.  相似文献

This Letter concerns with the peristaltic analysis of MHD viscous fluid in a two-dimensional channel with variable viscosity under the effect of slip condition. A long wavelength and low Reynolds number assumption is used in the problem formulation. An exact solution is presented for the case of hydrodynamic fluid while for magnetohydrodynamic fluid a series solution is obtained in the small power of viscosity parameter. The salient features of pumping and trapping phenomena are discussed in detail through the numerical integration. It is noted that an increase in the slip parameter decreases the peristaltic pumping region. Moreover, the size of trapped bolus decreases by increasing the slip parameter.  相似文献

In this paper, the MHD peristaltic flow inside wavy walls of an asymmetric channel is investigated, where the walls of the channel are moving with peristaltic wave velocity along the channel length. During this investigation, the electrical conductivity both in Lorentz force and Joule heating is taken to be temperature dependent. Also, the long wavelength and low Reynolds number assumptions are utilized to reduce the governing partial differential equations into a set of coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations. The new set of obtained equations is then numerically solved using the generalized differential quadrature method(GDQM). This is the first attempt to solve the nonlinear equations arising in the peristaltic flows using this method in combination with the Newton-Raphson technique. Moreover, in order to check the accuracy of the proposed numerical method, our results are compared with the results of built-in Mathematica command NDSolve. Taking Joule heating and viscous dissipation into account, the effects of various parameters appearing in the problem are used to discuss the fluid flow characteristics and heat transfer in the electrically conducting fluids graphically. In presence of variable electrical conductivity, velocity and temperature profiles are highly decreasing in nature when the intensity of the electrical conductivity parameter is strengthened.  相似文献

Research on flow and heat transfer of hybrid nanofluids has gained great significance due to their efficient heat transfer capabilities. In fact, hybrid nanofluids are a novel type of fluid designed to enhance heat transfer rate and have a wide range of engineering and industrial applications.Motivated by this evolution,a theoretical analysis is performed to explore the flow and heat transport characteristics of Cu/Al2O3 hybrid nanofluids driven by a stretching/shrinking geometry.Further, this work focuses on the physical impacts of thermal stratification as well as thermal radiation during hybrid nanofluid flow in the presence of a velocity slip mechanism. The mathematical modelling incorporates the basic conservation laws and Boussinesq approximations. This formulation gives a system of governing partial differential equations which are later reduced into ordinary differential equations via dimensionless variables. An efficient numerical solver, known as bvp4c in MATLAB,is utilized to acquire multiple(upper and lower)numerical solutions in the case of shrinking flow. The computed results are presented in the form of flow and temperature fields. The most significant findings acquired from the current study suggest that multiple solutions exist only in the case of a shrinking surface until a critical/turning point. Moreover, solutions are unavailable beyond this turning point, indicating flow separation. It is found that the fluid temperature has been impressively enhanced by a higher nanoparticle volume fraction for both solutions. On the other hand, the outcomes disclose that the wall shear stress is reduced with higher magnetic field in the case of the second solution. The simulation outcomes are in excellent agreement with earlier research, with a relative error of less than 1%.  相似文献

The main emphasis of this article is to examine the peristaltic transport of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) Prandtl-Eyring nanofluid in an inclined symmetric channel with compliant walls. Nanofluid including thermophoresis and Brownian motion is taken into account. Two-dimensional governing equations for the peristaltic motion of Prandtl-Eyring nanofluid are modeled in the presence of chemical reaction. The resulting dimensionless nonlinear system is numerically solved for velocity, temperature, and concentration. The effects of various dimensionless parameters on fluid flow are featured through graphs. This analysis reveals that the influence of wall tension and wall mass parameters on axial velocity are increasing whereas the impact of wall damping parameter on velocity is decaying. The opposite effect of thermophoresis parameter and Brownian motion parameter on both temperature and heat transfer coefficient are observed. The destructive chemical reaction causes decay in temperature, nanoparticle concentration, and heat transfer coefficient.  相似文献

In this paper Williamson fluid is taken into account to study its peristaltic flow with heat effects. The study is carried out in a wave frame of reference for symmetric channel. Analysis of heat transfer is accomplished by accounting the effects of non-constant thermal conductivity and viscosity and viscous dissipation. Modeling of fundamental equations is followed by the construction of closed form solutions for pressure gradient, stream function and temperature while assuming Reynold's number to be very low and wavelength to be very long. Double perturbation technique is employed, considering Weissenberg number and variable fluid property parameter to be very small. The effects of emerging parameters on pumping, trapping, axial pressure gradient, heat transfer coefficient, pressure rise, velocity profile and temperature are analyzed through the graphical representation. A direct relation is observed between temperature and thermal conductivity whereas the indirect proportionality with viscosity. The heat transfer coefficient is lower for a fluid with variable thermal conductivity and variable viscosity as compared to the fluid with constant thermal conductivity and constant viscosity.  相似文献

This Letter discusses the influence of heat transfer and magnetic field on the peristaltic flow of Newtonian fluid in a vertical annulus under a zero Reynolds number and long wavelength approximation. The inner tube is uniform, rigid, while the outer tube has a sinusoidal wave traveling down its wall. The flow is investigated in a wave frame of reference moving with velocity of the wave. Numerical calculations are carried out for the pressure rise and frictional forces. The features of the flow characteristics are analyzed by plotting graphs and discussed in detail.  相似文献

PURPOSE: To evaluate the application of high-resolution MRI methodology for characterizing the fluid velocity field and evaluate fluid shear field within a simplified in vitro model of a bone-implant interface. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study used a specific micromotion canine bone implant that has been used for over a decade in the experimental evaluation of anatomical, biomaterial, mechanical and surgical factors influencing the quality of the implant interface. To allow its implementation in an MR coil, a nonmagnetic model of the micromotion implant was fabricated. The model consisted of a cylinder of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) representing the implant, located within an annular controlled gap into a block of coralline-derived bulk porous hydroxyapatite (HA; Interpore Cross International, Irvine, CA, USA). The assembly was potted in a polycarbonate shell and connected to a gravity-feed flow system consisting of a water fluid reservoir and peristaltic pump. Cross-sectional fluid velocity images through the principal axis of the implant were generated using a phase-encoding MR imaging technique; axial fluid flow was derived, and fluid shear was evaluated using a Newtonian fluid model. RESULTS: Due to the nonuniform gap of the actual experimental construct, a highly nonuniform flow through the annular gap and a secondary flow through the porous HA block were observed. Axial velocity magnitudes in the range 0.04 to 14 mm/s were measured, and the flow velocities within the annular gap and the surrounding bone differed by nearly two orders of magnitude. Image analysis showed that 95% of total flow passed through the annular gap and 5% was transported through the porous HA block. Fluid shear was computed within the porous structure and the annular gap, and they differed by one order of magnitude. CONCLUSION: We demonstrated that high-resolution MR flow imaging has the resolution to measure fluid transport processes noninvasively through a nonmagnetic model bone implant. Gap fluid flow and fluid flow into the permeable skeleton (HA block) were quantified, and these data allowed the noninvasive determination of fluid shear. These promising results are encouraging for applications in biological tissue, artificial bone substitutes, tissue engineering and clinically relevant studies concerning implant fixation.  相似文献

In this investigation, the peristaltic flow of a third order fluid in an asymmetric channel is considered in the presence of a slip condition. The series solution of the stream function and longitudinal pressure gradient is given under long wave length and low Reynolds number approximations. Pressure rise and frictional forces per wave length are analyzed through numerical integration. Pumping and trapping phenomena are examined and the obtained results are compared with those of no-slip condition. Comparison is made with the results of no-slip and viscous fluid cases.  相似文献

In this Letter, we considered a numerical treatment for the solution of the hydromagnetic peristaltic flow of a bio-fluid with variable viscosity in a circular cylindrical tube using Adomian decomposition method and a modified form of this method. The axial velocity is obtained in a closed form. Comparison is made between the results obtained by only three terms of Adomian series with those obtained previously by perturbation technique. It is observed that only few terms of the series expansion are required to obtain the numerical solution with good accuracy.  相似文献

In this paper, the slip effects are discussed on the peristaltic flow of a viscous fluid in a porous medium. A long wavelength approximation is used in the flow modelling. The solutions for stream function and axial velocity are constructed by employing the Adomian decomposition method. Numerical integration has been used for the pumping and trapping phenomena. Graphs illustrate the physical behavior. It is noted that the size of the trapped bolus decreases and its symmetry disappears for large values of the slip parameter. Further, the peristaltic pumping rate decreases by increasing the slip parameter.  相似文献
