A subgroup H of a finite group G is quasinormal in G if it permutes with every subgroup of G. A subgroup H of a finite group G is \(\mathfrak {F}_{hq}\)-supplemented in G if G has a quasinormal subgroup N such that HN is a Hall subgroup of G and \((H\cap N)H_{G}/ H_{G} \le Z_{\mathfrak {F}}(G/H_{G})\), where \(H_{G}\) is the core of H in G and \({Z}_{\mathfrak {F}} (G/H_{G})\) is the \(\mathfrak {F}\)-hypercenter of \({G/H}_{G}\). This paper concerns the structure of a finite group G under the assumption that some subgroups of G are \(\mathfrak {F}_{hq}\)-supplemented in G. 相似文献

Let G be a finite group. A subgroup H of G is s-permutable in G if H permutes with every Sylow subgroup of G. A subgroup H of G is called an \(\mathcal {SSH}\)-subgroup in G if G has an s-permutable subgroup K such that \(H^{sG} = HK\) and \(H^g \cap N_K (H) \leqslant H\), for all \(g \in G\), where \(H^{sG}\) is the intersection of all s-permutable subgroups of G containing H. We study the structure of finite groups under the assumption that the maximal or the minimal subgroups of Sylow subgroups of some normal subgroups of G are \(\mathcal {SSH}\)-subgroups in G. Several recent results from the literature are improved and generalized. 相似文献

In this note, global information about a finite group is obtained by assuming that certain subgroups of some given order are S-semipermutable. Recall that a subgroup H of a finite group G is said to be S-semipermutable if H permutes with all Sylow subgroups of G of order coprime to \({\lvert H\rvert}\). We prove that for a fixed prime p, a given Sylow p-subgroup P of a finite group G, and a power d of p dividing \({\lvert G\rvert}\) such that \({1\le d < \lvert P\rvert}\), if \({H\,{\cap}\, O^p(G)}\) is S-semipermutable in \({O^p(G)}\) for all normal subgroups H of P with \({\lvert H\rvert=d}\), then either G is p-supersoluble or else \({\lvert P\,{\cap}\, {O^p(G)}\rvert > d}\). This extends the main result of Guo and Isaacs in (Arch. Math. 105:215–222 2015). We derive some theorems that extend some known results concerning S-semipermutable subgroups. 相似文献

For a finite group G, the set of all prime divisors of |G| is denoted by π(G). P. Shumyatsky introduced the following conjecture, which was included in the “Kourovka Notebook” as Question 17.125: a finite group G always contains a pair of conjugate elements a and b such that π(G) = π(〈a, b〉). Denote by \(\mathfrak{Y}\) the class of all finite groups G such that π(H) ≠ π(G) for every maximal subgroup H in G. Shumyatsky’s conjecture is equivalent to the following conjecture: every group from \(\mathfrak{Y}\) is generated by two conjugate elements. Let \(\mathfrak{V}\) be the class of all finite groups in which every maximal subgroup is a Hall subgroup. It is clear that \(\mathfrak{V} \subseteq \mathfrak{Y}\). We prove that every group from \(\mathfrak{V}\) is generated by two conjugate elements. Thus, Shumyatsky’s conjecture is partially supported. In addition, we study some properties of a smallest order counterexample to Shumyatsky’s conjecture. 相似文献

A group G is called capable if there is a group H such that \({G \cong H/Z(H)}\) is isomorphic to the group of inner automorphisms of H. We consider the situation that G is a finite capable p-group for some prime p. Suppose G has rank \({d(G) \ge 2}\) and Frattini class \({c \ge 1}\), which by definition is the length of a shortest central series of G with all factors being elementary abelian. There is up to isomorphism a unique largest p-group \({G_d^c}\) with rank d and Frattini class c, and G is an epimorphic image of \({G_d^c}\). We prove that this \({G_d^c}\) is capable; more precisely, we have \({G_d^c \cong G_d^{c+1}/Z(G_d^{c+1})}\). 相似文献

Suppose that G is a finite group and H is a subgroup of G. H is said to be an ss-quasinormal subgroup of G if there is a subgroup B of G such that \(G=HB\) and H permutes with every Sylow subgroup of B; H is said to be weakly s-permutably embedded in G if there are a subnormal subgroup T of G and an s-permutably embedded subgroup \(H_{se}\) of G contained in H such that \(G=HT\) and \(H\cap T\le H_{se}\). We fix in every non-cyclic Sylow subgroup P of G some subgroup D satisfying \(1<|D|<|P|\) and study the structure of G under the assumption that every subgroup H of P with \(|H|=|D|\) is either ss-quasinormal or weakly s-permutably embedded in G. Some recent results are generalized and unified. 相似文献

Let \(\mathfrak {F}\) be a subgroup-closed saturated formation of finite groups containing all finite nilpotent groups, and let M be a subgroup of a finite group G normalising the \(\mathfrak {F}\)-residual of every non-subnormal subgroup of G. We show that M normalises the \(\mathfrak {F}\)-residual of every subgroup of G. This answers a question posed by Gong and Isaacs (Arch Math 108:1–7, 2017) when \(\mathfrak {F}\) is the formation of all finite supersoluble groups. 相似文献

Let \(\mathcal{F}\) be a class of groups and G a finite group. We call a set Σ of subgroups of G a G-covering subgroup system for \(\mathcal{F}\) if \(G\in \mathcal{F}\) whenever \(\Sigma \subseteq \mathcal{F}\). Let p be any prime dividing |G| and P a Sylow p-subgroup of G. Then we write Σ p to denote the set of subgroups of G which contains at least one supplement to G of each maximal subgroup of P. We prove that the sets Σ p and Σ p ∪Σ q , where q≠p, are G-covering subgroup systems for many classes of finite groups. 相似文献

Consider the restriction of an irreducible unitary representation π of a Lie group G to its subgroup H. Kirillov’s revolutionary idea on the orbit method suggests that the multiplicity of an irreducible H-module ν occurring in the restriction π|H could be read from the coadjoint action of H on \(\mathcal {O}^{G} \cap \text {pr}^{-1}({\mathcal {O}}^{H})\), provided π and ν are ‘geometric quantizations’ of a G-coadjoint orbit \(\mathcal {O}^{G}\) and an H-coadjoint orbit \(\mathcal {O}^{H}\), respectively, where \(\text {pr} \colon \sqrt {-1}\mathfrak {g}^{\ast } \to \sqrt {-1}\mathfrak {h}^{\ast }\) is the projection dual to the inclusion \(\mathfrak {h} \subset \mathfrak {g}\) of Lie algebras. Such results were previously established by Kirillov, Corwin and Greenleaf for nilpotent Lie groups. In this article, we highlight specific elliptic orbits \(\mathcal {O}^{G}\) of a semisimple Lie group G corresponding to highest weight modules of scalar type. We prove that the Corwin–Greenleaf number \(\sharp (\mathcal {O}^{G} \cap \text {pr}^{-1}({\mathcal {O}}^{H}))/H\) is either zero or one for any H-coadjoint orbit \(\mathcal {O}^{H}\), whenever (G,H) is a symmetric pair of holomorphic type. Furthermore, we determine the coadjoint orbits \(\mathcal {O}^{H}\) with nonzero Corwin–Greenleaf number. Our results coincide with the prediction of the orbit philosophy, and can be seen as ‘classical limits’ of the multiplicity-free branching laws of holomorphic discrete series representations (Kobayashi [Progr. Math. 2007]). 相似文献

Let H be a real algebraic group acting equivariantly with finitely many orbits on a real algebraic manifold X and a real algebraic bundle \({\mathcal {E}}\) on X. Let \(\mathfrak {h}\) be the Lie algebra of H. Let \(\mathcal {S}(X,{\mathcal {E}})\) be the space of Schwartz sections of \({\mathcal {E}}\). We prove that \(\mathfrak {h}\mathcal {S}(X,{\mathcal {E}})\) is a closed subspace of \(\mathcal {S}(X,{\mathcal {E}})\) of finite codimension. We give an application of this result in the case when H is a real spherical subgroup of a real reductive group G. We deduce an equivalence of two old conjectures due to Casselman: the automatic continuity and the comparison conjecture for zero homology. Namely, let \(\pi \) be a Casselman–Wallach representation of G and V be the corresponding Harish–Chandra module. Then the natural morphism of coinvariants \(V_{\mathfrak {h}}\rightarrow \pi _{\mathfrak {h}}\) is an isomorphism if and only if any linear \(\mathfrak {h}\)-invariant functional on V is continuous in the topology induced from \(\pi \). The latter statement is known to hold in two important special cases: if H includes a symmetric subgroup, and if H includes the nilradical of a minimal parabolic subgroup of G. 相似文献

In this paper we continue to develop the topological method to get semigroup generators of semi-simple Lie groups. Consider a subset \(\Gamma \subset G\) that contains a semi-simple subgroup \(G_{1}\) of G. If one can show that \( \Gamma \) does not leave invariant a contractible subset on any flag manifold of G, then \(\Gamma \) generates G if \(\mathrm {Ad}\left( \Gamma \right) \) generates a Zariski dense subgroup of the algebraic group \(\mathrm {Ad}\left( G\right) \). The proof is reduced to check that some specific closed orbits of \(G_{1}\) in the flag manifolds of G are not trivial in the sense of algebraic topology. Here, we consider three different cases of semi-simple Lie groups G and subgroups \(G_{1}\subset G\). 相似文献

We discuss the proof of Kazhdan and Lusztig of the equivalence of the Drinfeld category \({\mathcal D}({\mathfrak g},\hbar)\) of \({\mathfrak g}\)-modules and the category of finite dimensional \(U_q{\mathfrak g}\)-modules, \(q=e^{\pi i\hbar}\), for \(\hbar\in{\mathbb C}\setminus{\mathbb Q}^*\). Aiming at operator algebraists the result is formulated as the existence for each \(\hbar\in i{\mathbb R}\) of a normalized unitary 2-cochain \({\mathcal F}\) on the dual \(\hat G\) of a compact simple Lie group G such that the convolution algebra of G with the coproduct twisted by \({\mathcal F}\) is *-isomorphic to the convolution algebra of the q-deformation G q of G, while the coboundary of \({\mathcal F}^{-1}\) coincides with Drinfeld’s KZ-associator defined via monodromy of the Knizhnik–Zamolodchikov equations. 相似文献

Let G be a group. We denote by \({\nu(G)}\) an extension of the non-abelian tensor square \({G \otimes G}\) by \({G \times G}\). We prove that if G is finite-by-nilpotent, then the non-abelian tensor square \({G \otimes G}\) is finite-by-nilpotent. Moreover, \({\nu(G)}\) is nilpotent-by-finite (Theorem A). Also we characterize BFC-groups in terms of \({\nu(G)}\) among the groups G in which the derived subgroup is finitely generated (Theorem B). 相似文献

For any prime p and positive integers c, d there is up to isomorphism a unique p-group \({G_{d}^{c}(p)}\) of least order having any (finite) p-group G with rank \({d(G) \le d}\) and Frattini class \({c_{p}(G) \le c}\) as epimorphic image. Here \({c_{p}(G) = n}\) is the least positive integer such that G has a central series of length n with all factors being elementary. This “disposition” p-group \({G_{d}^{c}(p)}\) has been examined quite intensively in the literature, sometimes controversially. The objective of this paper is to present a summary of the known facts, and to add some new results. For instance we show that for \({G = G_{d}^{c}(p)}\) the centralizer \({C_{G}(x) = \langle Z(G), x \rangle}\) whenever \({x \in G}\) is outside the Frattini subgroup, and that for odd p and \({d \ge 2}\) the group \({E = G_{d}^{c+1}(p)/(G_{d}^{c+1}(p))^{p^{c}}}\) is a distinguished Schur cover of G with \({E/Z(E) \cong G}\). We also have a fibre product construction of \({G_{d}^{c+1}(p)}\) in terms of \({G = G_{d}^{c}(p)}\) which might be of interest for Galois theory. 相似文献

Let \({g \in G}\) , where G is an arbitrary finite group. Then there exists \({\chi \in {\rm Irr} (G)}\) such that \({{\rm ker}(\chi) \cap \langle g \rangle = 1}\) and every prime divisor of the order o(g) divides the codegree of χ. This improves a recent result of Qian, in which G was assumed to be solvable. 相似文献

The induced path number \(\rho (G)\) of a graph G is defined as the minimum number of subsets into which the vertex set of G can be partitioned so that each subset induces a path. A product Nordhaus–Gaddum-type result is a bound on the product of a parameter of a graph and its complement. Hattingh et al. (Util Math 94:275–285, 2014) showed that if G is a graph of order n, then \(\lceil \frac{n}{4} \rceil \le \rho (G) \rho (\overline{G}) \le n \lceil \frac{n}{2} \rceil \), where these bounds are best possible. It was also noted that the upper bound is achieved when either G or \(\overline{G}\) is a graph consisting of n isolated vertices. In this paper, we determine best possible upper and lower bounds for \(\rho (G) \rho (\overline{G})\) when either both G and \(\overline{G}\) are connected or neither G nor \(\overline{G}\) has isolated vertices. 相似文献

The Cartan scheme \(\mathcal{X}\) of a finite group G with a (B, N)-pair is defined to be the coherent configuration associated with the action of G on the right cosets of the Cartan subgroup \(B\cap N\) by right multiplication. It is proved that if G is a simple group of Lie type, then asymptotically the coherent configuration \(\mathcal{X}\) is 2-separable, i.e., the array of 2-dimensional intersection numbers determines \(\mathcal{X}\) up to isomorphism. It is also proved that in this case, the base number of \(\mathcal{X}\) equals 2. This enables us to construct a polynomial-time algorithm for recognizing Cartan schemes when the rank of G and the order of the underlying field are sufficiently large. One of the key points in the proof is a new sufficient condition for an arbitrary homogeneous coherent configuration to be 2-separable. 相似文献

Let G be a finite group, A a finite abelian group. Each homomorphism \({\varphi:G\rightarrow A\wr S_n}\) induces a homomorphism \({\overline{\varphi}:G\rightarrow A}\) in a natural way. We show that as \({\varphi}\) is chosen randomly, then the distribution of \({\overline{\varphi}}\) is close to uniform. As application we prove a conjecture of T. Müller on the number of homomorphisms from a finite group into Weyl groups of type D n . 相似文献
