Summary The chelating behaviour of two biologically active ligands, pyridine-2-carboxaldehyde(4-phenyl) thiosemicarbazone(L1H) and pyridine-2-carboxaldehyde thiosemicarbazone(LH), towards FeIII, CoIII, FeII and RhIII has been investigated. The ligands act as tridentate N–N–S donors, resulting in the formation of bis-chelate complexes of the type MIII(A)2X·nH2O (A=L1 or L; X=Cl, ClO4; M=CoIII, RhIII, FeIII), FeII(L1H)2SO4·2H2O and FeII(L1)2·H2O. Biological activity of the ligands and the metal complexes in the form ofin vitro antibacterial activities towardsE. coli has been evaluated and the possible reasons for enhancement of the activity of ligands on coordination to metal ion is discussed.  相似文献

The coordination behaviour of the novel ligand, HMPz4Cy, is reported, together with solid state isolation of its diamagnetic cobalt(III) complexes, [Co(MPz4Cy)2]X · nH2O (X = Cl, Br, NO3, ClO4 and BF4). I.r. and 1H-n.m.r. data for the free ligand and its CoIII complexes confirm that the ligand, HMPz4Cy, acts as a uninegative anion with NNS tridentate function via the pyrazolyl nitrogen (tertiary), azomethine nitrogen and thiol sulphur. Electronic spectra (both solid and solution) are commensurate with a distorted octahedral environment for the reported CoIII species. Cyclic voltammograms of CoIII complexes indicate a quasireversible Co+3/Co+2 couple. X-ray crystallography of a representative species, [Co(MPz4Cy)2]Cl · 2.75H2O (C2, monoclinic), has shown unambiguously that the two ligands are orthogonally coordinated to the central CoIII ion with both the thiolato sulphurs and both pyrazolyl nitrogen atoms in cis positions.  相似文献

Summary The reaction between chromone-3-carboxaldehyde-4-phenylthiosemicarbazone (HCPT) and some hydrated metal salts of CoII, NiII and CuII give complexes of the type [Cu(HCPT)Cl2],[Cu(CPT)BrH2O],[Cu(CPT)2]·2H2O, [Ni(CPT)2(H2O)2]·2H2O, [Co(CPT)2(OAc)] and [Co(CPT)2(H2O)2]X·2H2O (where X=Cl or Br). The metal complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductivities, and spectal (i.r. and visible) and magnetic studies. I.r. spectra show that the HCPT coordinates in the thione or thiol form and behaves in a bidentate manner. Also, HCPT behaves as an oxidizing agent towards CoII forming diamagnetic CoIII complexes. An octahedral structure is proposed for both CoIII and NiII complexes, while a square-planar structure is proposed for CuII complexes on the basis of magnetic and spectral measurements.  相似文献

Five acetate-diphenoxo triply-bridged CoII-LnIII complexes (LnIII = Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er) of formula [Co(μ-L)(μ-Ac)Ln(NO3)2] and two diphenoxo doubly-bridged CoII-LnIII complexes (LnIII = Gd, Tb) of formula [Co(H2O)(μ-L)Ln(NO3)3]·S (S = H2O or MeOH), were prepared in one pot reaction from the compartmental ligand N,N′,N′′-trimethyl-N,N′′-bis(2-hydroxy-3-methoxy-5-methylbenzyl)diethylene triamine (H2L). The diphenoxo doubly-bridged CoII-LnIII complexes were used as platforms to obtain 1,5-dicyanamide-bridged tetranuclear CoII-LnIII complexes (LnIII = Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er). All exhibit ferromagnetic interactions between the CoII and LnIII ions and in the case of the GdIII complexes, the JCoGd were estimated to be ∼+0.7 cm−1. Compound 3 exhibits slow relaxation of the magnetization.  相似文献

Summary A convenient synthesis of the ligand ethylenediaminetetraacetamide (L) is described, and a number of metal complexes of the general formula MLCln · xH2O (Mn+=CaII, MnII, FeII, CoII, NII, CuII, ZnII, MgII, BaII, CdII, HgII and LaIII) prepared. The deprotonated Cu(L-H)2 · 2 H2O complex has been characterised and the associated pK values determined. On the thermal decomposition of hexacyanocobaltate(III); ligand exchange during thermolysis The thermal decomposition of hexacyanocobaltates(III) yields, as products of successive intramolecular redox reactions, first dicyan and CoII(CoIII)-complexes, then CoII[CoII]-complexes and simple CoII(CN)2, respectively, and finally CoICN and elemental Co, respectively. All the compounds of the [CoIII(NH3)6]3+ cation with the cyanometallate anions of Co, Fe, Cr, Mn, Ni, Mo yield the same DTA curve as [Co(NH3)6][Co(CN)6] does; in the case of Ni and Cr, which are capable of forming ammine complexes, simultaneous mutual ligand exchange occurs.  相似文献

Summary The synthesis and characterization of MnII, CoII, NiII, CuII, ZnII, CdII UO 2 2+ , CrIII and FeIII complexes of biacetylmonoxime nicotinoyl hydrazone (H2BMNH) are reported. Elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic moment and spectral (i.r., visible and n.m.r.) measurements have been used to characterize the complexes. I.r. spectral data show that the ligand behaves in a bidentate and/or tridentate manner. An octahedral structure is proposed for the MnII, NiII, CrIII and FeIII complexes, while a square-planar structure is proposed for both CoII and CuII complexes on the basis of magnetic and spectral measurements.  相似文献

Summary N-salicylidene anthranilamide (H2SAA) and its CrIII, MnII, FeIII, CoII, NiII and CuII complexes were prepared and characterized by physicochemical and spectroscopic data. H2SAA enolizes to give a dibasic ONO donor set in the divalent metal complexes. It also binds to the trivalent metal ions in a nonenolized form using a monobasic ONN donor set. CoII is oxidized to CoIII during complexation. Octahedral geometries are proposed for CrIII, MnII, FeIII and CoIII complexes, while square planar geometries are suggested for the NiII and CuII complexes. Phenoxide bridging in the CrIII and FeIII complexes and enoxide bridging in the NiII and CuII complexes is proposed.  相似文献

  • [(en)2Co(O2, OH)Co(en)2]3+ ( a ) reacts with I? in acidic aqueous solution according to: CoIII(O2, OH)CoIII + 21? + 5H+ ? 2CoIII + 3H2O + I2. Using I? in excess first order rate constants are obtained which, to a first approximation, are independent of [I?]. Comparison with kinetic data of deoxygenation of [(en)2Co(O2, OH)Co(en)2]3+ under analogous conditions suggests that both reactions have the same rate determining step. The singly bridged species [(en)2(H2O)CoO2Co(H2O) (en)2]4+ is shown to be the reactive intermediate in the iodide oxidation (Schema 2).  相似文献

    Summary Eight aluminium and gallium heteropoly undecatungstometalate complexes of general formula Kn[M(H2O)-XW11O39]·nH2O, where M=AlIII, GaIII, and X=CrIII, FeIII, CoII or CuII, have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, cation exchange i.r., u.v., x-ray powder diffraction and by thermal analyis. The compounds are stable in acidic solution. I.r., u.v. spectra and x-ray diffraction studies show that the structure of the compounds derives from the Keggin structure.     Summary The complexes of MnII, CoII, NiII, CuII, ZnII, CdII, HgII, CoIII and UO 2 2+ ions with 2-hydroxyimino-3-(2-hydrazonopyridyl)-butane (HL) have been synthesised and characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductivities, magnetic measurements and spectral (i.r., visible, n.m.r.) studies. I.r. spectra show that HL behaves as a neutral or mononegative ligand and binds in a bidentate and/or tridentate manner. Also, HL behaves as oxidizing agent towards CoII forming diamagnetic CoIII complexes depending on the preparative conditions.     Stoichiometric reactions of 4,4'-diacetylcurcumin ( HL ) with series of transition metal ions, namely Fe3+, Co2+, Ni2+ and Zn2+, in methanol result in the corresponding homoleptic metal complexes. All the obtained complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, high resolution mass spectrometry, IR spectroscopy, magnetic moment and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Structural analyses are unprecedentedly performed for the FeIII, CoII, and NiII complexes and reveal octahedral mononuclear complexes with the compositions [Fe(L)3] and [M(L)2(MeOH)2] (M = Co2+, Ni2+, Zn2+) for trivalent and divalent metal ions, respectively. In all complexes, the deprotonated ligands serve as monoanionic and bidentate ligands with (O,O)-chelating β-diketonate moieties. The free ligand HL exhibits considerable antiproliferative effects for the human MCF-7 breast and HepG2 liver cancer cells with IC50 values of 20.91 ± 2.16 μg · mL–1 and 12.85 ± 1.85 μg · mL–1, respectively. The CoII and ZnII complexes with IC50 values in the range of 14.53–20.80 μg · mL–1 for MCF-7 breast and 8.48–10.68 μg · mL–1 for HepG2 liver cancer cells show stronger antiproliferative effects than HL, the FeIII and NiII complexes cause weaker reductions of the growth of the two tested cancer cell lines.  相似文献

    Three new CoIII complexes: [Co(bpy)2(pdtb)]3+ (1), [Co(bpy)2(pdta)]3+ (2) and [Co(bpy)2(pdtp)]3+ (3) have been synthesized and characterized. The DNA binding behavior of the CoIII complexes has been investigated by spectroscopic methods and viscosity measurements. The results indicate that the size and shape of the intercalated ligand have a marked effect on the binding affinity of complexes involving CT-DNA. Complexes (2) and (3) have been found to promote cleavage of plasmid pBR 322 DNA from the supercoiled form I to the open circular form II upon irradiation. Photocleavage mechanisms are proposed.  相似文献

    In this work, the differences in catalytic performance for a series of Co hydrogen evolution catalysts with different pentadentate polypyridyl ligands (L), have been rationalized by examining elementary steps of the catalytic cycle using a combination of electrochemical and transient pulse radiolysis (PR) studies in aqueous solution. Solvolysis of the [CoII−Cl]+ species results in the formation of [CoII4-L)(OH2)]2+. Further reduction produces [CoI4-L)(OH2)]+, which undergoes a rate-limiting structural rearrangement to [CoI5-L)]+ before being protonated to form [CoIII−H]2+. The rate of [CoIII−H]2+ formation is similar for all complexes in the series. Using E1/2 values of various Co species and pKa values of [CoIII−H]2+ estimated from PR experiments, we found that while the protonation of [CoIII−H]2+ is unfavorable, [CoII−H]+ reacts with protons to produce H2. The catalytic activity for H2 evolution tracks the hydricity of the [CoII−H]+ intermediate.  相似文献

    Interfacial electron transfer induced by 254 nm light at nanomaterial (nm) titanium dioxide/CoIII(N–N)3 3+ interface in binary mixed solvent media such as water/methanol (or 1,4-dioxane) has been probed. The distinct photo reduction of cobalt(III) complexes, CoIII(N–N)3 3+; (N–N)=(NH3)2, en (1,2-diamino ethane), pn (1,2-diamino propane), tn (1,3-diamino propane), and bn (1,4-diamino butane), by excited nm-TiO2 particles: CoIII + nm-TiO2 + hν → TiO2 (h+;e) + CoIII → nm-TiO2 (h) + CoII is solvent controlled. The electron transfer from the conduction band of TiO2 (e, CB) onto the metal centre of the complex consists of (i) electron transport from CB into surface-adsorbed species A: CoIII(N–N)3 3+ (ii) solution phase species B: CoIII(N–N)3 3+ (sol.), accumulated at the surface of the nanoparticle. In addition, UV irradiation of CoIII(N–N)3 3+ stimulates generation of \textCo\textaq\textII {\text{Co}}_{\text{aq}}^{\text{II}} ion, due to charge transfer transition, in solution phase. After UV irradiation, cobalt-implanted nm-TiO2 separated as gray ultrafine particles, which were isolated. Photo efficiency of the formation of CoII ion was estimated and the cobalt implanted nanomaterial crystals isolated from the photolyte solutions were subjected to SEM-EDX, X-ray mapping, and HRTEM-SAED analyses. Solvent medium was found to contribute in both the formation of CoII ion and interstitial insertion of cobalt into the lattice of nm-TiO2.  相似文献

    Two tridentate Schiff bases having ONS and NNS donor sequences were prepared by condensing S-benzyldithiocarbazate (NH2NHCSSCH2Ph) (SBDTC) with pyridine-2-carboxaldehyde and salicylaldehyde, respectively. Complexes of these ligands with NiII, ZnII, CrIII, CoII, CuII, and SnII were studied and characterized by elemental analyses and various physico-chemical techniques. NiII, CuII, ZnII and SnII complexes were four-coordinate while the CrIII, SrIII and CoIII complexes were six-coordinate. The ONS Schiff base was moderately active against leukemia, while its zinc, antimony and cobalt complexes were strongly active against leukemic cells with DC50 = 0.35–5.00.  相似文献

    Summary The factors influencing the oxidation of CoII by dissolved oxygen in aqueous azide buffers in the presence of sulfur (IV) are discussed. It is proposed that mixed complexes of CoII, N 3 and O2 are formed during an induction period with spontaneous oxidation of CoII by the O2, H+/ H2O2 system. CoIII azide complexes then oxidize sulfite according to a Bäckström mechanism to produce highly oxidized intermediate species. Secondary reactions as that leading to S2O 6 2– decrease the amount of CoIII formed. The role of MnII accelerating the reaction was considered on the basis of labile MnIII formed as an intermediate, which oxidizes CoII to CoIII.

An octahedral structure is proposed for the CrII, FeII and NiII complexes; a tetrahedral structure for the MnII, CoII and Cu(NTS)·2H2O complexes; and a square planar structure for the PdII and Cu(HNTS)Cl·H2O complexes.     Summary N-benzoylglycine hydrazide (BzGH) reacts with trivalent lanthanide metal ions forming complexes of the type [Ln(BzGH)2Cl(H2O)2]Cl2·nH2O, where Ln=LaIII, PrIII, NdIII, SmIII, EuIII, GdIII, TbIII, DyIII, or YIII;n=1 or 2. The structures of the complexes have been studied by conductance, magnetic, electronic, i.r.,1H n.m.r. and13C n.m.r. spectral techniques. The nephelauxetic ratio, the bonding parameter, Sinha's parameter and the covalency angular overlap parameter have been calculated from the electronic spectra of PrIII, NdIII and SmIII complexes. Seven-coordination is proposed in the NdIII complex. The i.r. and1H n.m.r. spectral data suggest bidentate BzGH in all the complexes.  相似文献
