L‐Valinium picrate (C5H12NO2)+. (C6H2N3O7), a non‐linear optical material from the amino acid family which has large second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency, was grown by slow evaporation method. Characterization of the crystals was made using single crystal X‐ray diffraction. The functional groups and the modes of vibrations were found by using the Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The second harmonic generation (SHG) conversion efficiency was investigated using the Kurtz and Perry method. The SHG conversion efficiency is 60 times higher than that of the standard KDP and 8 times higher than that of the standard Urea and the optical transparency was analyzed using UV‐visible‐NIR absorption spectrum. The structural features of the material leading to the large SHG efficiency are discussed. Microhardness and dielectric studies were also carried out. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. An organic electro‐optic and nonlinear optical (NLO) material, L‐alaninium oxalate, was synthesized by the standard method. The synthesized material was purified by repeated recrystallization. Single crystals were grown by the slow evaporation technique. The grown crystals were transparent and had optimum dimensions (20 × 3 × 2 mm3) and were characterized by single crystal XRD, FT‐NMR, FT‐IR, TGA‐DTA and UV‐Vis‐NIR techniques. The second harmonic generation (SHG) from the material was confirmed using Nd:YAG laser. (© 2004 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Bis(isothiocyanato)‐bis(4‐methylpyridine)zinc(II)(Zn(SCN)2(C6H7N)2), (abbreviated as ZBNC) single crystals of optical quality have been grown from acetone solution by the slow temperature‐lowering method. Its solubilities at different temperatures in acetone were measured. The X‐ray powder diffraction (XRPD) spectroscopy of ZBNC crystal was performed at room temperature. The second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency was determined by powder technique of Kurtz and Perry using Nd:YAG laser, which is equivalent to KDP crystal. The thermal decomposition process was characterized by thermal gravity and differential thermal analysis (TG\DTA). The specific heat of the crystal is 1440.67 J/mol·K at 325 K. The IR spectrum was recorded in the 500∼3500 cm–1 region, using KBr pellets on a Nicolet 170sx FT‐IR spectrometer. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

The nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of Bi2O2(OH)(NO3) crystals have been reported for the first time. Bi2O2(OH)(NO3) crystals with dimensions of 1.3×1.2×0.1 mm3 have been grown by hydrothermal method, and the crystals characterized by X‐ray powder diffraction (XRD), SEM and IR. The measured second harmonic generation (SHG) effect of Bi2O2(OH)(NO3) was about 7 times that of KDP. The mechanism responsible for the large SHG of Bi2O2(OH)(NO3) was explained according to its structure. (© 2011 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

L‐arginine hydrochloride monohydrate (LAHCl.H2O) has been synthesized and single crystals have been grown from its aqueous solution by slow evaporation and slow cooling methods. The solubility of the material was measured at various temperatures and bulk crystals of size 26×13×11 mm3 have been grown by optimizing the growth parameters. The grown crystals have been subjected to single crystal XRD studies to confirm the structure and to estimate the lattice parameters. FTIR analysis indicate the mode of vibrations of different molecular groups present in LAHCl and confirm the protonation of guanidyl, amino groups and deprotonation of COO groups. UV‐Vis transmission spectrum revealed the linear optical properties of the grown crystals with a transparency of 65% over the entire visible range upto 300 nm. Thermal behavior of the grown crystal was investigated from DTA and TGA measurements. Dielectric studies have been carried out on the grown crystals. Kurtz and Perry powder SHG technique confirms the NLO property of the grown crystal. The SHG efficiency of LAHCl was found to be 0.38 with respect to KDP. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. A new semiorganic crystal, L‐glutamic acid hydrobromide, C5H10NO4Br (GHB) has been grown from aqueous solution. The single crystal X‐ray analysis of the crystal showed that it belongs to the non‐centrosymmetric P212121 space group with protonated glutamic acid as cation and bromine as anion. The back‐bone conformations of the amino acid are in cis and trans form. The side‐chain conformations are observed to be in gauche I / trans / cis / trans forms. The characteristic ‘head‐to‐tail’ hydrogen bonding interaction is observed through a chain C(5) motif. Further, the crystal structure is stabilized by an intricate three‐dimensional hydrogen bonding network. TGA/DTA showed that the grown crystals are thermally stable upto 219 °C without any phase transition. The functional groups responsible for the various modes of vibrations were identified by using FTIR spectroscopy. UV‐Vis‐NIR spectra showed that the crystals have excellent transparency in the visible and infrared regions. The second harmonic generation (SHG) conversion efficiency was investigated to explore the NLO characteristics of the material. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Nonlinear optical material of L‐alaninium oxalate (LAO) has been synthesized and single crystals are grown by slow evaporation technique. The solubility data of LAO is determined in water. Single crystal X‐ray diffraction study showed that LAO belongs to orthorhombic system with a non‐centrosymmetric space‐group P212121. The functional groups have been identified from FT‐IR spectrum. The UV‐Vis‐NIR spectrum of LAO shows less optical absorption in the entire visible region. The second harmonic generation (SHG) in the material was estimated using Nd:YAG laser. The mechanical properties of the grown crystals are studied using Vickers microhardness tester. The AC and DC conductivity, and dielectric studies are also carried out and reported for the first time. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

The presence of an impurity like rhodium in the platinum crucible used for the growth of KTiOPO4 (KTP) single crystals can have severe consequences in the performance of devices made from these crystals. In the present study the effect of rhodium incorporation has been investigated. Rhodium‐incorporated KTP crystals have a lower ionic conductivity (1.3 × 10–7 S/cm at 100 kHz) than pure KTP crystals (3.5 × 10–6 S/cm at 100 kHz) along the c‐axis. And the optical absorption in the green‐wavelength regime leads to a detrimental effect on their SHG performance. (© 2006 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

In this article, diaquatetrakis (thiocyanato) manganese(II) mercury(II)‐N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone, MnHg(SCN)4(H2O)2.2(C3H6CONCH3), (abbreviated as MMTWMP), a new organometallic nonlinear optical crystal material is reported. The structure, optical and thermal characterizations were determined by elemental analysis, infrared and Raman spectroscopy, X‐ray powder diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, special heat, SHG measurements and UV/Vis/NIR optical transmission spectra. It belongs to the tetragonal crystallographic system, with cell parameters: a = 12.1294, c = 8.2238Å, V = 1211.27Å3. Single crystals with dimensions up to 8 × 7 × 5 mm3 have been obtained. The morphology of the crystals was indexed. The MMTWMP crystal exhibits good physicochemical stability at normal temperature and pressure. Its UV transparency cutoff is 360 nm, which is shifted to the violet by 13 nm, as compared with MnHg(SCN)4 (MMTC); the optical transmission is 44.82% at 404 nm, which is by 17.46% higher than that of MMTC.  相似文献

Single crystals of L‐histidine tetrafluoroborate (C6H10N3O2BF4 , L‐HFB) were grown by solution growth method using two different temperature profiles: conventional, in which the growth temperature was kept constant at 30°C and rapid, in which it was increased in steps of 1 K per day while keeping the other growth conditions same. Crystals grew in nearly 30 and 10 days in the two methods, respectively. The crystals were transparent and showing its characteristic morphology. Both types of crystals were characterized by XRD for their structural comparison. Surface morphology and growth features of the crystals were studied by SEM. Features of two dimensional layer growth steps, rectangular etch pits, slip lines and bands, etc. were observed. The presence of various functional groups and their bonding were studied by FTIR in the range 4000‐400 cm‐1. Thermal stability of the crystals was determined by thermo‐gravimetric and differential thermal analysis. The generation of green light due to second harmonic generation for fundamental λ =1064 nm has been confirmed in both cases. Dielectric constant measurement was carried out in the range 20Hz‐2MHz. In the UV‐Vis studies, high transmittance and a shorter ‘lower cut off' value (232 nm) were observed. The effect of rapid growth on the structural, morphological and optical properties of the crystals were studied and compared to those of crystals grown in conventional way. A new nonlinear optical material L‐arginine maleate dihydrate, C6H14N4O2,C4H4O4,2H2O (LAMD) was synthesized and single crystals were grown by slow cooling and also by slow evaporation method at constant temperature from its aqueous solution. Quality and size of the crystals are found to be dependent on pH of the solution and best crystals were obtained at pH = 4. Single crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis reveal that the crystal lattice of LAMD is triclinic with unit cell parameters a = 5.264(3)Å, b = 8.039(3)Å, c = 9.784(3)Å, α = 106.19(3)°, β = 97.24(3)°, γ = 101.66(2)°. Second harmonic generation efficiency is found to be about 6.8 times that of quartz. It is optically transparent down to 300 nm and possesses a large optical window between 300–2000 nm. The compound is thermally stable up to 93.4 °C. (© 2005 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

Crystals of RbBe2BO3F2 up to a size of 22×18×5 mm3 have been grown by the hydrothermal method. The growth conditions were optimized mainly by adjusting the mineralizers and growth temperature. The crystals linear and nonlinear optical properties, including its transmittance spectrum and second harmonic generation from 532 to 266 nm, were measured and compared with those of flux grown crystals. A maximum conversion efficiency of 20% was obtained with a 25 ps, 10 Hz laser system. The results indicate that RbBe2BO3F2 crystals grown by the hydrothermal method show similar capability for frequency conversion compared with flux grown crystals and are promising for future deep-UV harmonic generation.  相似文献

Large single crystals of optical quality of the non‐centrosymmetric orthorhombic potassium rare earth nitrate mixed crystals K2(La1–x Cex)(NO3)5 · 2 H2O were grown at 38 °C from diluted HNO3. For crystals with x = 0.0, 0.19, 0.38 and 0.66 refractive indices and their dispersion were determined with an error less than 1 · 10–4 in the wavelength range 0.404 – 1.083 μm by the prism method. Phase matching conditions for collinear SHG frequency conversion were analysed in detail, including calculation of the effective nonlinear optical susceptibility. By an appropriate choice of the fraction x of cerium the mixed crystals K2(La1–x Cex)(NO3)5 · 2 H2O allow an adjustment of non‐critical type I phase matching conditions to a desired wavelength of the fundamental wave within the range 1.055(4) – 1.107(6) μm. Non‐critical type II phase matching can be tuned in the wavelength range 0.949(2) – 0.931(2) μm. (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

A novel organic crystal, L‐lysine p‐nitrophenolate monohydrate (LLNP) has been grown successfully from an aqueous solution by the slow cooling method. Transparent single crystal of dimensions 22 × 12 × 12 mm3 has been obtained. The single crystal X‐ray diffraction has shown that LLNP belongs to the orthorhombic crystallographic system with space group P212121. The functional groups and vibrational frequencies of the crystal have been identified using IR and Raman spectra. The proton and carbon configurations have been confirmed through 1H‐NMR and 13C‐NMR spectra analyses. The UV‐Vis‐NIR transmittance spectrum for LLNP crystal has been recorded in the range from 200 to 2500 nm. The second harmonic generation (SHG) intensity of LLNP has been measured by powder SHG method and found to be as 4.2 times as that of KDP. The thermal properties have been studied by using thermo gravimetric (TG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA).  相似文献

KTiOPO4 single crystals of dimensions 34 × 15 × 15 mm3 have successfully been grown by Top Seeded Solution Growth (TSSG), using phosphate flux (K6P4O13), employing a home made vertical cylindrical three zone resistive heated furnace. Growth experiments were carried out with <001> seed orientation. A method to grow inclusion free crystal with less dislocation density is proposed, by employing cooling rate of 0.5‐2 K/day and rotation rate of 60‐30 rpm. UV‐VIS transmission studies were performed and the dependence of absorption coefficient with wavelength is discussed. SHG elements of dimension 8 × 7.5 × 7.5 mm3 were fabricated and conversion efficiency of 58 % was achieved without antireflection coating. Nature of ionic conductivity and ferroelectric phase transition behavior of KTP crystals along the crystallographic polar axis in the frequency range of 100 Hz – 10 MHz are discussed.  相似文献

Studies on thermal and optical properties are very essential for a nonlinear optical material. Photoacoustics (PA) is a recently developed non‐destructive testing (NDT) tool for studying such properties. L‐Alaninium maleate (C3H8NO2+·C4H3O4), an organic non‐linear optical (NLO) material was synthesized using submerged seed solution method and was characterized by single crystal X‐ray diffraction (XRD) and density. PA technique was used to determine the thermal parameters of LAM crystals. Moreover, possible phase transition analysis was conducted to ascertain the thermal stability. Scanning electron microscopic (SEM) studies were also carried out and crystal‐packing features discussed. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)  相似文献

A coustically induced optical second harmonic generation (SHG) and two‐photon absorption (TPA) in ferroelectric Pb4.7Ba0.3Ge3O11 crystals have been found. We have found that with increasing acoustical power, the SHG for YAG:Nd laser light (λ=1.06 μm) increases and achieves its maximum value at acoustical power density about 1.75 W/cm2. The evaluated SHG values were 23 % less comparing with χ222 tensor of the KDP single crystals. With decreasing temperature, the acoustically induced SHG signals trongly increases below 29 K. The maximal acoustically induced SHG has been observed at acoustical frequencies lying with in the ranges 12‐17 kHz, 22‐23 kHz and above 26 kHz. This behavior reflects nonlinear superposition of the nonlinear optical susceptibilities stimulated by externallyinduced electron‐phonon anharm onicity. We have observed substantial increase of the TPA (for the acoustical power W=1.8 W/cm2) at high hydrostatic pressures (about 16 GPa) and low temperatures (below 16 K). This one confirms complicated influence of the electron‐phonon interactions in the ferroelectricson the observed nonline aroptical dependences.  相似文献

Single crystals of a novel nonlinear optical organometallic compound CLTC, ([(18C6)Li][Cd(SCN)3]), were grown from aqueous solutions via evaporation technique and characterized by IR spectroscopy, thermal gravimetric analysis and X‐ray single‐crystal diffraction. By X‐ray single‐crystal structural analysis it is revealed that the compound crystallized in a noncentrosymmetric space group Cmc21 of orthorhombic system with cell parameter a = 14.767(3) Å, b = 15.454(3) Å, c = 10.644(2) Å, V = 2429.0(8) Å3 and Z = 4. The thermal stability and thermal decomposition of CLTC crystal were investigated by means of thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis. The second harmonic generation (SHG) efficiency was measured using the Kurtz and Perry powder technique. It was shown that the value of the SHG efficiency of CLCT powder was about 2 times higher than that of potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP). (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
