Propagation of modified Bessel-Gaussian beams in turbulence   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
We investigate the propagation characteristics of modified Bessel-Gaussian beams traveling in a turbulent atmosphere. The source beam formulation comprises a Gaussian exponential and the summation of modified Bessel functions. Based on an extended Huygens–Fresnel principle, the receiver plane intensity is formulated and solved down to a double integral stage. Source beam illustrations show that modified Bessel-Gaussian beams, except the lowest order case, will have well-like shapes. Modified Bessel-Gaussian beams with summations will experience lobe slicing and will display more or less the same profile regardless of order content. After propagating in turbulent atmosphere, it is observed that a modified Bessel-Gaussian beam will transform into a Bessel-Gaussian beam. Furthermore it is seen that modified Bessel-Gaussian beams with different Bessel function combinations, but possessing nearly the same profile, will differentiate during propagation. Increasing turbulence strength is found to accelerate the beam transformation toward the eventual Gaussian shape.  相似文献

A sonar system for making three-dimensional topographic images of the sea-bed is described. The system applies a sectorial scan within each range cell by electronic beam forming. It is designed to resolve 128 beams each separated by 0.5° to cover a 64° sector. The beam forming is facilitated by a real-time Fourier transform of the signal samples from the multielement receiving transducer array. The Fourier transform is implemented as a chirp transform using surface acoustic wave reflective array devices.The design and measured performance of the transducers, and the beam former are discussed in some detail.  相似文献

We propose a simple setup for generating evanescent Bessel beams using the defect mode of one-dimensional (1D) photonic crystal. The angular selectivity provided by the defect mode mimics the role of an axicon for Bessel beam generation. When an azimuthally polarized beam is strongly focused onto a 1D defect mode photonic crystal interface, an evanescent Bessel beam of the first-order is produced, while an evanescent Bessel beam of the zeroth-order will be created under a radially polarized beam illumination. Switching between a donut shape and a solid focal distribution can be easily realized by controlling the polarization of the illumination. Such a versatile evanescent Bessel beam generation may find potential applications in optical trapping.  相似文献

Radial sampling of the NMR time domain has recently been introduced to speed up data collection significantly. Here, we show that radially sampled data can be processed directly using Fourier transforms in polar coordinates. We present a comprehensive theoretical analysis of the discrete polar Fourier transform, and derive the consequences of its application to radially sampled data using linear response theory. With adequate sampling, the resulting spectrum using a polar Fourier transform is indistinguishable from conventionally processed spectra with Cartesian sampling. In the case of undersampling in azimuth--the condition that provides significant savings in measurement time-the correct spectrum is still produced, but with limited distortion of the baseline away from the peaks, taking the form of a summation of high-order Bessel functions. Finally, we describe an intrinsic connection between the polar Fourier transform and the filtered backprojection method that has recently been introduced to process projection-reconstruction NOESY data. Direct polar Fourier transformation holds great potential for producing quantitatively accurate spectra from radially sampled NMR data.  相似文献

The fluorescence from the out-of-focus region excited by the sidelobes of a Bessel beam is the major concern for light-sheet fluorescence microscopy(LSFM) with Bessel beam plane illumination. Here, we propose a method of applying the subtractive imaging to overcome the limitation of the conventional LSFM with Bessel beam plane illumination. In the proposed method, the sample is imaged twice by line scanning using the extended solid Bessel beam and the ring-like Bessel beam. By subtracting between the two images with similar out-of-focus blur, the improved image quality with the suppression of the Bessel beam sidelobes and enhanced sectioning ability with improved contrast are demonstrated.  相似文献

The exact scattering by a sphere centered on a Bessel beam is expressed as a partial wave series involving the scattering angle relative to the beam axis and the conical angle of the wave vector components of the Bessel beam. The sphere is assumed to have isotropic material properties so that the nth partial wave amplitude for plane wave scattering is proportional to a known partial-wave coefficient. The scattered partial waves in the Bessel beam case are also proportional to the same partial-wave coefficient but now the weighting factor depends on the properties of the Bessel beam. When the wavenumber-radius product ka is large, for rigid or soft spheres the scattering is peaked in the backward and forward directions along the beam axis as well as in the direction of the conical angle. These properties are geometrically explained and some symmetry properties are noted. The formulation is also suitable for elastic and fluid spheres. A partial wave expansion of the Bessel beam is noted.  相似文献

The beam waist-to-waist transformation of Gaussian beams between input and output reference planes described by the scaled fractional Fourier transform is analyzed in this paper. We obtain the transfer matrix of ABCD optical system that corresponds to the scaled fractional Fourier transform. The results show that the beam waist-to-waist transformation of Gaussian beams can be described by the scaled fractional Fourier transform when the ABCD optical system has a suitable transfer matrix. The relationship between the input and output waist planes and some particular cases when a Gaussian beam passes through a thin lens is also discussed.  相似文献

Phase-shifting digital holography has been used for the study of vibrating objects. The time-averaged complex amplitude of Fresnel diffracted field due to a vibrating object was obtained by using a three-step phase-shifting algorithm. Taking the inverse Fresnel transform of the complex amplitude resulted in an image of the object superimposed with Bessel fringes. The Bessel fringes are contour map of the vibration amplitude. By sinusoidally modulating the phase of the reference beam at the vibration frequency, the brightest fringe could be shifted to points of interest, thus extending the measurable range of vibration amplitude.  相似文献

当高斯激光束用于打小孔时,焦深很小。截断的贝塞尔光束的主极大具有很长的焦深,可降低调焦精度,用于打小孔时优于高斯光束,但是分析表明两者的成孔质量和所能实现的深径比差不多。本文通过计算指出环状分布的光束经透镜后可在焦平面产生适用于激光打孔的贝塞尔-高斯光束,这是一种高效、简单实用的方法。  相似文献

A Bessel beam is suitable for laser micro-fabrication because it possesses both a micron-sized focal spot and a deep focal depth. As the influence of focusing aberrations is much smaller than that of a convex lens, the generation of a Bessel beam using an axicon is very practical. In the case of laser micro drilling of austenitic stainless steel with a Bessel beam, suitable processing conditions were investigated. The threshold fluence to make a through hole increased with an increase in the sample thickness. For samples with the same thickness, the threshold fluence increased with an increase in the crossing angle. A small crossing angle Bessel beam can drill a deep hole with a small threshold fluence. A through hole with a diameter smaller than 10 μm can be made on a stainless steel sheet 20 μm thick by using a Bessel beam with a large crossing angle. The scattering process of an unpolarized Bessel beam through spherical scatterers is investigated. We derive the analytical solutions of scattered fields of x-and y-polarized Bessel beams using a sphere, after which the dimensionless scattering function for an unpolarized Bessel beam is obtained. The dimensionless scattering function is applicable to spherical scatterers of any size on the beam axis or near it. Through numerical simulations, we demonstrate that extreme points exist in the direction or neighboring direction of the conical angle for spherical scatterers on the beam axis, whereas the existence of extreme points depends on the ratio between the spherical scatterers size and central spot size of the Bessel beam.  相似文献

The properties of Bessel-Gaussian beams (BGBs) and Bessel beams (BBs) propagating through a fractional Fourier transform (FRT) optical system have been investigated. The analytical transformation formulae for BBs and BGBs propagation through a FRT optical system are derived based on definition of the FRT in the cylindrical coordinate system. The theory of non-diffracting Bessel beam propagation and experimental evidence for nearly-non-diffracting Bessel beam propagation are reviewed. The experimental results are analysed to show that the observed propagation distances are characteristic of the optical systems used to transport the beams, and are not unique to the Bessel beam intensity profiles. The results indicate that, despite the innovative techniques employed to generate finite radius Bessel beam distributions, nearly-non-diffracting Bessel beam propagation has not yet been conclusively demonstrated.  相似文献

A simple setup for generating evanescent Bessel beams is proposed. When a radially polarized beam is strongly focused onto a dielectric-metal interface, the entire beam is p-polarized with respect to the dielectric-metal interface, enabling excitation of surface plasmons from all directions. The angular selectivity of surface plasmon excitation mimics the function of an axicon, leading to an evanescent nondiffracting Bessel beam. The created evanescent Bessel beam may be used as a virtual probe for near-field optical imaging and sensing applications.  相似文献

基于菲涅耳衍射积分理论和巴比涅原理,推导出像散Bessel光束经圆形障碍物后的光强分布一般表达式.数值模拟了像散Bessel光束经圆形障碍物遮挡后光场的自重建过程,并设计相关实验进行验证,实验结果与理论模拟基本符合.结果表明:零阶像散Bessel光束经过轴上和离轴障碍物后均会发生光束重建现象.随着传输距离的增加,像散Bessel光束的外轮廓尺寸变大、中心光点阵列数增多,逐渐重建出不同于障碍物前的完整光束.并且观察到光束在重建过程中横向和纵向的重建速度并不一致,存在一定的速度差.利用螺旋相位板产生高阶像散Bessel光束,验证了高阶像散Bessel光束经障碍物遮挡后同样具有自重建特性.研究结果对像散Bessel光束在多层面粒子操纵方面的应用具有参考价值.  相似文献

本文从理论角度提出了一种"含时贝塞尔光束"的概念.在非傍轴和非时谐条件下,直接从麦克斯韦方程出发,借鉴半贝塞尔光束的处理方法,同时引入第四维虚数坐标,由此获得了完整的"含时贝塞尔光束"的解析表达式.并从无衍射性质和时空特性两个方面对其进行了探讨和研究,发现该光束具有如下性质:符合贝塞尔光束类型的无衍射特征;在时空双曲线上强度保持不变;光波时空特性的临界条件类似于相对论中的光锥."含时贝塞尔光束"的概念为无衍射自加速光束的研究开拓了新的思路和方向.  相似文献

 分别使用两种不同底角的轴棱锥产生无衍射贝塞尔光束。理论分析了单束贝塞尔光及两束贝塞尔光相干叠加后光场的光强分布,分析了产生的局域空心光束在一个完整周期内的特性。数值模拟了光沿纵向传播时光场的横向光强分布,并给出了相关的实验。对单束贝塞尔光及两束贝塞尔光干涉后的中心光斑的大小进行了测量,测量结果与理论计算结果吻合。  相似文献
