Let D be a domain obtained by a holomorphic motion of a domain D p M p n–1 along a complex curve P in a complex space form M n . We prove that, if n= 2, the volume of D depends only on the geometry of D p and the intrinsic geometry of P, but not on the extrinsic geometry of P. When M is closed (compact without boundary), then the dependence on P is only through its topology. When n > 2, and for arbitrary domains D p, a similar result holds only for Frenet motions, but when D p has certain integral symmetries (and only in this case) this result is still true for any motion .  相似文献

Let f(x 1,..., x N ) be a lattice polynomial in N variables, in which each variable occurs exactly once, B 1,..., B N be smoothly moving balls in the hyperbolic, Euclidean, or spherical space. Introducing a suitable modification of the Dirichlet–Voronoi decomposition, we prove a formula for the derivative of the volume of the domain f(B 1,..., B N ). As an application of the formula, we show that the volume increases if the balls move continuously in such a way that the functions ij d ij increase for all 1 i < j N, where ij is a sign depending on f, d ij is the distance between the centers of B I and B j .  相似文献

Ruled real hypersurfaces of complex space forms are investigated by using the fact that such hypersurfaces can be constructed by moving a 1-codimensional complex totally geodesic submanifold of the ambient space along a curve. Some of the variation formulas of a metric were derived in the literatures by using the local coordinates system, In this paper, We give the first and the second variation formulas of the Riemannian curvature tensor, Ricci curvature tensor and scalar curvature of a metric by using the moving frame method. We establish a relation between the variation of the volume of a metric and that of a submanifold. We find that the latter is a consequence of the former. Finally we give an application of these formulas to the variations of heat invariants. We prove that a conformally flat metric g is a critical point of the third heat invariant functional for a compact 4-dimensional manifold M, then (M, g) is either scalar flat or a space form.  相似文献

By using the volume form induced from the projective sphere bundle of the Finsler manifold, we study the Finsler minimal submanifolds. It is proved that such a volume form for the Randers metric in a Randers space is just that for the Riemannian metric , and therefore the Bernstein type theorem in the special Randers space of dimension is true. Moreover, a Bernstein type theorem in the -dimensional Minkowski space is established by considering the volume form induced from the projective sphere bundle.

In this paper,we establish some formulas on closed curves in 2-dimensional space forms.Mean absolute geodesic curvature is introduced to describe the average curving of a closed curve.Inthis sense,a closed curve could be compared with a geodesic circle that is the boundary of a convex geodesic circular disk containing the closed curve.The comparison can be used to show some properties of space forms only on themselves.  相似文献

We discuss the geometric characterization of the trajectory of a moving charged particle, for the case of a homogeneous electromagnetic field, in Minkowski space when the motion is governed by the Lorentz equation. We employ a totally relativistic approach during the discussion. It is based on a systematic use of the Faraday antisymmetric tensor properties of the electromagnetic field and of the four‐dimensional Frenet‐Serret formula, which is adapted to the Minkowski 4‐space with index two to determine the worldline geometry of the electromagnetic field acting on the particle. Finally, we present the necessary and sufficient conditions to obtain uniform motion of the relativistic charged particle in a homogeneous electromagnetic field in   相似文献
