We show that for any sufficiently homogeneous metrizable compactum X there is a Polish group G acting continuously on the space of rational numbers such that X is its unique G-compactification. This allows us to answer Problem 995 in the ‘Open Problems in Topology II’ book in the negative: there is a one-dimensional Polish group G acting transitively on for which the Hilbert cube is its unique G-completion.   相似文献

Lascar described E KP as a composition of E L and the topological closure of E L (Casanovas et al. in J Math Log 1(2):305–319). We generalize this result to some other pairs of equivalence relations. Motivated by an attempt to construct a new example of a non-G-compact theory, we consider the following example. Assume G is a group definable in a structure M. We define a structure M′ consisting of M and X as two sorts, where X is an affine copy of G and in M′ we have the structure of M and the action of G on X. We prove that the Lascar group of M′ is a semi-direct product of the Lascar group of M and G/G L . We discuss the relationship between G-compactness of M and M′. This example may yield new examples of non-G-compact theories. The first author is supported by the Polish Goverment grant N N201 384134. Let G be an undirected graph and ={X1, …, Xn} be a partition of V(G). Denote by G/ the graph which has vertex set {X1, …, Xn}, edge set E, and is obtained from G by identifying vertices in each class Xi of the partition . Given a conservative graph (Gw), we study vertex set partitions preserving conservativeness, i.e., those for which (G/ , w) is also a conservative graph. We characterize the conservative graphs (G/ , w), where is a terminal partition of V(G) (a partition preserving conservativeness which is not a refinement of any other partition of this kind). We prove that many conservative graphs admit terminal partitions with some additional properties. The results obtained are then used in new unified short proofs for a co-NP characterization of Seymour graphs by A. A. Ageev, A. V. Kostochka, and Z. Szigeti (1997, J. Graph Theory34, 357–364), a theorem of E. Korach and M. Penn (1992, Math. Programming55, 183–191), a theorem of E. Korach (1994, J. Combin. Theory Ser. B62, 1–10), and a theorem of A. V. We give a very simple and elementary proof of the existence of a weakly compact family of probability measures {Pθ : θ∈θ} representing an important sublinear expectation- G-expectation E[·]. We also give a concrete approximation of a bounded continuous function X(ω) by an increasing sequence of cylinder functions Lip(Ω) in order to prove that Cb(Ω) belongs to the completion of Lip(Ω) under the natural norm E[|·|].  相似文献

We construct an equivariant infinite loop space machine denned on certain class of monoidal O G -categories which have built-in Mackey structure. Applications include the equivariant infinite delooping of the classifying space BF(G) for stable spherical G-fibrations and also the construction of an infinite loop G-space E(X, G) with 0 HE (X, G) naturally isomorphic to the equivariant Whitehead groups Wh H (X) of given G-space X.Dedicated to Professor Shôrô Araki on his sixtieth birthday  相似文献

Let G be a non-empty closed(resp.bounded closed)boundedly relatively weakly compact subset in a strictly convex Kadec Banach space X.Let K(X)denote the space of all non-empty compact convex subsets of X endowed with the Hausdorff distance. Moreover, let KG(X)denote the closure of the set {A∈K(x):A∩G=0}.We prove that the set of all A∈KG(X)(resp.A∈K(X)),such that the minimization (resp.maximization)problem min(A,G)(resp.max(A,G))is well posed, contains a dense Gδ-subset of KG(X)(resp.K(X)).thus extending the recent results due to Blasi,Myjak and Papini and Li.  相似文献

Much of General Topology addresses this issue: Given a function fC(Y,Z) with YY and ZZ, find , or at least , such that ; sometimes Z=Z is demanded. In this spirit the authors prove several quite general theorems in the context Y=(XI)κ=∏iIXi in the κ-box topology (that is, with basic open sets of the form ∏iIUi with Ui open in Xi and with UiXi for <κ-many iI). A representative sample result, extending to the κ-box topology some results of Comfort and Negrepontis, of Noble and Ulmer, and of Hušek, is this. Theorem Let ωκα (that means: κ<α, and [β<α and λ<κ]βλ<α) with α regular, be a set of non-empty spaces with each d(Xi)<α, π[Y]=XJ for each non-empty JI such that |J|<α, and the diagonal in Z be the intersection of <α-many regular-closed subsets of Z×Z. Then (a) Y is pseudo-(α,α)-compact, (b) for every fC(Y,Z) there is J[I]<α such that f(x)=f(y) whenever xJ=yJ, and (c) every such f extends to .  相似文献

For Xi, …, Xn a random sample and K(·, ·) a symmetric kernel this paper considers large sample properties of location estimator satisfying , . Asymptotic normality of is obtained and two forms of interval estimators for parameter θ satisfying EK(X1 − θ, X2 − θ) = 0, are discussed. Consistent estimation of the variance parameters is obtained which permits the construction of asymptotically distribution free procedures. The p-variate and multigroup extension is accomplished to provide generalized one-way MANOVA. Monte Carlo results are included.  相似文献

Using a combinatorial approach that avoids geometry, this paper studies the structure of KT(G/B), the T-equivariant K-theory of the generalized flag variety G/B. This ring has a natural basis (the double Grothendieck polynomials), where is the structure sheaf of the Schubert variety Xw. For rank two cases we compute the corresponding structure constants of the ring KT(G/B) and, based on this data, make a positivity conjecture for general G which generalizes the theorems of M. Brion (for K(G/B)) and W. Graham (for HT*(G/B)). Let [Xλ]KT(G/B) be the class of the homogeneous line bundle on G/B corresponding to the character of T indexed by λ. For general G we prove “Pieri–Chevalley formulas” for the products , , , and , where λ is dominant. By using the Chern character and comparing lowest degree terms the products which are computed in this paper also give results for the Grothendieck polynomials, double Schubert polynomials, and ordinary Schubert polynomials in, respectively K(G/B), HT*(G/B) and H*(G/B).  相似文献

The concept of the k-pairable graphs was introduced by Zhibo Chen (On k-pairable graphs, Discrete Mathematics 287 (2004), 11–15) as an extension of hypercubes and graphs with an antipodal isomorphism. In the same paper, Chen also introduced a new graph parameter p(G), called the pair length of a graph G, as the maximum k such that G is k-pairable and p(G) = 0 if G is not k-pairable for any positive integer k. In this paper, we answer the two open questions raised by Chen in the case that the graphs involved are restricted to be trees. That is, we characterize the trees G with p(G) = 1 and prove that p(GH) = p(G) + p(H) when both G and H are trees.  相似文献

In two-dimensional lattice spin systems in which the spins take values in a finite group G, one can define a field algebra F which carries an action of a Hopf algebra D(G), the double algebra of G and moreover, an action of D(G;H), which is a subalgebra of D(G) determined by a subgroup H of G, so that F becomes a modular algebra. The concrete construction of D(G;H)-invariant subspace A H in F is given. By constructing the quasi-basis of conditional expectation γ G of A H onto A G , the C*-index of γ G is exactly the index of H in G.  相似文献

It is proved that a based-free action α of a given compact Lie groupG on the Hilbert cubeQ is equivalent to the standard based-free action σ if and only if the orbit spaceQ 0/α of the free partQ 0=Q* is aQ-manifold having the proper homotopy type of the orbit spaceQ 0/σ. The existence of an equivariant retraction (Q 0, σ)→(Q 0, α) is established. It is proved that for any TikhonovG-spaceX the family of all equivariant mapsX→ conG separates the points and the closed sets inX. Remainders in compactifications and generalized metrizability properties   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
When does a Tychonoff space X have a Hausdorff compactification with the remainder belonging to a given class of spaces? A classical theorem of Henriksen and Isbell and certain theorems, involving a new completeness type property introduced below, are applied to obtain new results on remainders of topological spaces and groups. In particular, some strong necessary conditions for a topological group to have a metrizable remainder, or a paracompact p-remainder, are established (the group itself turns out to be a paracompact p-space (Theorem 4.8)). It follows that if a non-locally compact topological group G is metrizable at infinity, then G is a Lindelöf p-space, and the Souslin number of G is countable (Corollary 4.10). This solves Problem 10.28 from [M. Hušek, J. van Mill (Eds.), Recent Progress in General Topology, vol. 2, North-Holland, 2002, pp. 1–57].  相似文献

In Proc. Symp. Pure Math. 53 (1991), 33–88, Bryant gave examples of torsion free connections on four-manifolds whose holonomy is exotic, i.e. is not contained on Berger's classical list of irreducible holonomy representations. The holonomy in Bryant's examples is the irreducible four-dimensional representation of S1(2, #x211D;) (G1(2, #x211D;) resp.) and these connections are called H 3-connections (G 3-connections resp.).In this paper, we give a complete classification of homogeneous G 3-connections. The moduli space of these connections is four-dimensional, and the generic homogeneous G 3-connection is shown to be locally equivalent to a left-invariant connection on U(2). Thus, we prove the existence of compact manifolds with G 3-connections. This contrasts a result in by Schwachhöfer (Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 345 (1994), 293–321) which states that there are no compact manifolds with an H 3-connection.  相似文献

Let G be an outerplanar graph with maximum degree △. Let χ(G^2) and A(G) denote the chromatic number of the square and the L(2, 1)-labelling number of G, respectively. In this paper we prove the following results: (1) χ(G^2) = 7 if △= 6; (2) λ(G) ≤ △ +5 if △ ≥ 4, and ),(G)≤ 7 if △ = 3; and (3) there is an outerplanar graph G with △ = 4 such that )λ(G) = 7. These improve some known results on the distance two labelling of outerplanar graphs.  相似文献

A b-coloring of a graph is a coloring such that every color class admits a vertex adjacent to at least one vertex receiving each of the colors not assigned to it. The b-chromatic number of a graph G, denoted by χ b (G), is the maximum number t such that G admits a b-coloring with t colors. A graph G is b-continuous if it admits a b-coloring with t colors, for every . We define a graph G to be b-monotonic if χ b (H 1) ≥ χ b (H 2) for every induced subgraph H 1 of G, and every induced subgraph H 2 of H 1. In this work, we prove that P 4-sparse graphs (and, in particular, cographs) are b-continuous and b-monotonic. Besides, we describe a dynamic programming algorithm to compute the b-chromatic number in polynomial time within these graph classes. We introduce a new class of graphs which we call P 3-dominated graphs. This class properly contains all quasi-claw-free graphs, and hence all claw-free graphs. Let G be a 2-connected P 3-dominated graph. We prove that G is hamiltonian if α(G 2) ≤ κ(G), with two exceptions: K 2,3 and K 1,1,3. We also prove that G is hamiltonian, if G is 3-connected and |V(G)| ≤ 5δ(G) − 5. These results extend known results on (quasi-)claw-free graphs.
