The structure of thep-tert-butylcalix[7]arene 1:3 pyridine complex/clathrate (C77H98O7 · 3 C5H5N) has been determined by X-ray crystallography. The crystal data are as follows: monoclinic, space groupP21/c,a = 37.790(4),b = 9.423(2),c = 29.075(4)Å; = 112.74(2)°;V = 8285(3)Å3;Z = 4;D calc = 1.10 g·cm–3. The hostp-tert-butylcalix[7]arene links one pyridine molecule through a hydrogen bond between one of the seven hydroxy groups and the nitrogen of the pyridine. Two other guest molecules have been found in the crystal lattice, so the title compound may be defined as a complex/clathrate hybrid. The unambiguous conformation of the macrocycle is described by an alternative method, which avoids the use of dihedral angles (and the ambiguities in their values).Part XVII. Ref. [2].  相似文献

Reaction of the methyl ether of calix[8]arene with AlMe3 yields [calix[8]arene methyl ether] [AlMe3]6·2 toluene,1, while that ofp-tert-butylcalix[8]arene gives [p-tert-butylcalix[8]arene methyl ether] [AlMe3]6·4 benzene,2. Both compounds1 and2 fail to react with alkali metal salts, MX. In1, the absence of a butylpara-substituent affords greater flexibility than is the case for thetert-butyl compound2. Thus, all six of the AlMe3 groups are located on the outside of the macrocyclic ring (in projection) in1, but two AlMe3 units are found on the inside in2. Colorless, air-sensitive crystals of1 belong to the triclinic space group witha=13.690(8),b=14.317(4),c=14.738(6) Å, =76.11(3), =62.36(4), =82.41(4)o, andD c =1.06 g cm–3 forZ=1. Refinement led toR=0.101 for 1154 observed reflections.2 crystallizes in with =12.400(6),b=16.229(8),c=19.251(5) Å, =96.17(3), =107.25(3), =101.54(3)o, andD c =1.01 g cm–3 forZ=1. Refinement of2 gaveR=0.128 for 4351 observed reflections. The macrocyclic array in both1 and2 lies about a crystallographic center of inversion. The inclusion complex ofp-tert-butylcalix[5]arene with tetralin has been characterized in the solid state by a single crystal X-ray diffraction study and by13C CP/MAS NMR experiments. A crystallographic mirror plane bisects the calix[5]arene and contains the tetralin molecule (which is dynamically disordered). The guest penetrates the upper rim of the calixarene and the experimental results indicate the saturated ring is imbedded most deeply.p-tert-Butylcalix[5]arene (tetralin) · 2 EtOH belongs to the monoclinic space group C2/m witha = 22.187(6),b = 15.823(6),c = 18.168(5) Å, = 99.70(2)°, andD c = 1.09 g cm–3 forZ = 4. Refinement based on 1652 observed reflections led to a finalR value of 0.081. p-tert-Butylcalix[6]arene forms a complex with 1.5 acetonitrile molecules, that are included in the macrocycle cavity. This complex crystallizes in the monoclinic system: space groupP21/m,a=14.043(4),b=16.916(11),c=14.199(11) Å,=98.27(6)°,V=3338(4) Å3,Z=2 (formula units). Refinement led to a final conventionalR value of 0.113 for 1654 reflections. Thepinched cone conformation of the calixarene is the same as that of the neutral and freeR-calix[6]arene already described. The two acetonitrile molecules interact with some phenyl ring -clouds, a methylene bridge and sometert-butyl groups of the calixarene. Supplementary Data relating to this article (atomic coordinates for hydrogen atoms, anisotropic displacement parameters, selected geometrical parameters and observed and calculated structure factors) are deposited with the British Library as Supplementary Publication No. SUP 82188 (16 pages).  相似文献

This paper deals with the ability ofp-tert-butylcalix[6]arene derivative1, which has six 3,6,9-trioxadecyl substituents at the phenolic oxygens, to encapsulate CT complexes of alkadienes with iodine. By adding I2 to alkadienes in CH2Cl2 in the presence of1, the absorbance at 363 nm, which was ascribed to I 3 ion, increased in the order: 1,5-hexadiene<1,9-decadiene 1,7-octadiene. The reactivity features of the CT complexes in the presence of1 are discussed.  相似文献

The configurations of calix[4]arenes may be modified by the formation of donor-acceptor complexes which make use of the basicity of the oxygen atoms of the macrocycle. The complex [t-butylcalix[4]arene methyl ether][AlMe3]2,2, exhibits the previously unseen 1,2-alternate geometry, while [t-butylcalix[4]arene methyl ether][MeAlCl2]2,3, and [t-butylcalix[4]arene methyl ether][EtAlCl2]2,4, show the 1,3-alternate configuration.2 crystallizes in the triclinic space groupPl witha=11.14(1),b=11.60(1),c=12.02(1) Å, =77.32(8), =67.91(8), and =69.34(8)o withD c =1.06 g cm–3 forZ=1. Refinement based on 1270 observed reflections led toR=0.106.3 as the benzene solvate belongs to the monoclinic space groupC2/c witha=12.116(2),b=21.557(7),c=23.470(6) Å, and =104.05(2)o withD c =1.13 g cm–3 forZ=4. Refinement based on 2335 observed reflections led toR=0.075.4 crystallizes in the monoclinic space groupC2/c witha=12.062(4),b=21.175(6),c=21.596(5) Å, and =100.78(4)o withD c =1.18 g cm–3 forZ=4. Refinement based on 2529 observed reflections gaveR=0.082. The Al-O lengths in all three complexes are normal for donor-acceptor interactions. Summary Thep-tert-butylcalix[n]arenes (n=4,6,7,8) andp-tert-butyldihomooxacalix[4]arene have been separated by reverse phase liquid chromatography. Optimum conditions have been obtained on a Spherisorb ODS1, 5 m C18 column by isocratic ambient elution with acetonitrile-methyltert-butyl ether. Calibration plots have been obtained from purified calixarenes and the reliability of the method is confirmed from test mixtures of calixarenes of known composition.  相似文献

The formation of p-tert-butylcalix[5]arene by the opening ofp-tert-butyldihomooxacalix [4]arene and the addition of a monomer has beenstudied. Various facets, including the effects of bases and the nature ofthe monomer added to the p-tert-butyldihomooxacalix[4]arene, have beeninvestigated. p-tert-Butylcalix[5]arene can be prepared in yields up to30%. The structure of its 1 : 2 complex with DMF has been determinedby X-ray crystallography. The hostt-butylcalix[4]arene,1a, forms a 11 inclusion compound with acetonitrile as guest. The inclusion compound has been isolated and characterised by X-ray analysis of a twinned crystal at 123 K. The acetonitrile guest lies on a crystallographic four-fold symmetry axis passing through the centre of the bowl of1a which adopts a regular cone conformation. A known tetradentate and a new tridentate phosphinitocalix[4]arene derivative,2a and2c respectively, have been synthesized from1a and Ph2Cl. Both2a and2c show a strong ability to coordinate with late transition metals and new complexes of gold(I), palladium(II) and platinum(II) are reported. Supplementary Data relating to this paper have been deposited with the British Library as Supplementary Publication No. SUP 92171 (5 pp.)This paper is dedicated to the commemorative issue on the 50th anniversary of calixarenes.  相似文献

A new method is described for the synthesis of isolatedp-tert-butyldihomooxacalix[4]arene (CALO) with a 24% yield. The ability of CALO to form complexes in the solid state with small neutral molecules has been studied; the potential guests were common solvents bearing various chemical functions. The powder obtained after evaporation of the solvent has been characterized by the X-ray powder diffraction technique. Analysis of the patterns shows the non-complexation of linear alkanes and alcohols, but formation of complexes when the guest is cyclic or when it bears an amine or a ketone function. As illustration of the possible arrangement of molecules in complexes, the structure of the 1:2 complex with tetrahydrofuran (THF) is presented: the crystals are monoclinic, space groupP21/c,a=9.459(2) Å,b=17.286(2) Å,c=30.469(6) Å, =92.52(2)o,V=4977(2) Å3,Z=4,D c=1.099 Mg m–3, =1.54178 Å, =5.6 cm–1,R=0.086 for 3590 reflections withF>4 (F); one of the THF molecules is inside the cavity of the macrocycle, while the other, in the interhost space, exhibits disorder. In the CALO molecule, three out of the fourtert-butyl groups are disordered which may induce the disorder of the THF molecule. From the reaction ofp-t-butylcalix[4]arene with -chloro-N,N-diethyl acetamide a new lipophilic ether-amide ligand (2) has been obtained in high yield. Solution studies show (2) to be a very strong cation receptor for alkali cations, especially sodium and potassium. The X-ray crystal structure determination of the free ligand (2) and two potassium complexes (KI and KSCN) shows the calix[4]arene in a fixed cone structure and the cation completely encapsulated in a polar cavity of eight oxygen atoms. The structure of thep-tetrakis-(4-nitrophenylazo)calix[4]arene-4-picoline (14) complex has been determined by X-ray crystallography. Crystals are monoclinic, space groupC2/c,a=24.9097) Å,b=8.425(6) Å,c=33.81(1) Å, =101.13(2)°,D c =1.330 g/cm3,Z=4, finalR value =0.067. The cone conformation adopted by this azocalixarene is disturbed by the positions of the picoline molecules. Two of them are inside the macorocycle cavity and the two others are outside. The interactions of calix[6]arene and p-tert-butylcalix[6]arene with aliphatic amines in acetonitrile solution were studied by spectrophotometric titrations in the UV region and 1H NMR spectrometry. Calix[6]arenes can undergo two deprotonations by aliphatic amines and the extent of the second proton transfer is mainly governed by the size of the α-substituent of the amine. 1H NMR spectra show that the macrocycle adopts a 1,2,3-alternate conformation and that the α-hydrogens of the ammonium ions are shielded by the π-clouds of the aromatic rings. The X-ray crystal structure of the dihexylammonium complex of the p-tert-butylcalix[6]arene dianion, reported here, confirms the 1,2,3-alternate conformation and shows one of the two ammonium moieties encapsulated in the inner cavity of the macrocycle.  相似文献

Reduction of 3 and 4 withNaBH4 and subsequent protonation byHCl/CH3OH resulted in25,27(2,2'-bis(ethoxybenzyl))-1,9-diaza-3,7-dithianonane-p-tert-butylcalix[4]arenedihydrogenchloride (7) and25,27(4,4'-bis(ethoxybenzyl))-1,9-diaza-3,7-dithianonane-p-tert-butylcalix[4]arenedihydrogenchloride (8), respectively. Complexation studies of 7 and 8 withZn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) ions were carried out bypotentiometric titration. Compounds 7 and8 selectively form 1 : 1 complexes with Hg(II), andtheir stability constants (log Ks) were estimated tobe 4.47 ± 0.08 and 3.20 ± 0.13, respectively. From spiecies distribution plots, 7 and 8were found to form the highest amount of 1 : 1 complexes with Hg(II) at pH 8.7 and 9.1, respectively.  相似文献

The first example of a calix[8]quinone derivative, hexamethoxy-p-tert-butylcalix[8]-1,5-diquinone 5, has been synthesized from p-tert-butylcalix[8]arene 1by exploiting a protection-deprotection procedure. The structure of the 5·toluene inclusion compound has been determined by a single crystal X-ray diffraction study. The calix[8]arene molecule possesses a crystallographic inversion centre and assumes a ‘pseudo-chair-like’ conformation, with two opposite 3/4-cone moieties, which resembles the previously reported chair-like conformation of p-tert-butylcalix[8]arene. The 4 toluene molecules per unit cell occupy interstitial voids and are released in the temperature range of 30–160 °C.This revised version was published online in July 2005 with a corrected issue number.  相似文献

The doubly deprotonated form of calix[6]arene, with two protonated triethylamines as counter-ions, crystallizes in the monoclinic system: space groupP21/n,a=8.465(4),b=17.822(8),c=15.182(6) Å,=90.18(4)°,V=2291(2) Å3,Z=2. Refinement led to a final conventionalR value of 0.063 for 1046 reflections. The macrocycle conformation is not apinched cone, usual for freeR-calix[6]arene, but a distorted 1,2,3-alternate cone, since the molecule lies on a symmetry center. Furthermore, one of the torsion angles defined by the methylene bridges is near to zero, which is unusual in calixarene structures. The binding properties of two phenylketones (2a and 3a) and two ethylesters (2b and {3b) derived from p-tert-butyldihomooxacalix[4]arene or from p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene, in the cone conformation, towards transition (Ag+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Co2+, Zn2+, Fe2+ and Mn2+) and heavy (Cd2+, Hg2+ and Pb2+) metal cations have been determined by extraction studies with metal picrates and liquid membrane transport experiments with the same salts. The affinity of these ligands for Ag+ has also been investigated by 1H NMR spectroscopy. Both ketones are better extractants than the esters, and show a strong preference for Ag+, while Cu2+ is the most extracted cation with the esters. 1H NMR titrations with AgSO3CF3 indicate 1 : 1 complexes for all ligands, those with ketones are more stable, on the NMR time scale, than those with esters. Both esters are good carriers for Ag+, and 2b exhibits the highest transport rate (4.7 mol h-1) found until now with dihomooxacalix[4]arene derivatives.  相似文献
