A mixed complexation reaction of methionine and cysteine with copper(II) and cobalt(II) has been studied in solution phase using the paper electrophoretic technique at ionic strength 0.1 M and a temperature of 35°C. The binary equilibria copper(II)-methionine and cobalt(II)-methionine have also been studied, since this is prerequisite for the investigation of mixed complexes. The stability constants of copper(II)-methionine-cysteine and cobalt(II)-methionine-cysteine mixed complexes were found to be 2.80 ± 0.07 and 2.44 ± 0.11 (logarithm of stability constant values), respectively. A series of metal complexes of cobalt(II), nickel(II), and copper(II) having the general composition [M(L)2X2] with thioacetamide have been prepared and characterized by elemental chemical analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements, mass, IR, EPR, and electronic spectral studies. The IR spectral data suggests the involvement of sulfur and amino nitrogen in coordination to central metal ion. On the basis of spectral studies, an octahedral geometry has been assigned for the cobalt(II) and nickel(II) complexes whereas tetragonal geometry for copper(II) complexes. Thioacetamide and its metal complexes have been tested in vitro against a number of microorganisms in order to assess their antimicrobial properties.  相似文献

N-Phenylbenzamide-2,2′-dicarboxylic acid (PBDA) and its copper(II), nickel(II), cobalt (II), zinc(II) and manganese(II) chelates have been synthesized and characterized by their physical measurements, infrared and electronic spectra and magnetic moment data. In an acute anti-inflammatory test, the cobalt chelate was most active (31.1% inhibition) followed by the zinc and copper chelates, whereas the copper chelate (22.3% inhibition) was most active in an adjuvant arthritis test. Again the cobalt chelate was most active in the cotton-wad granuloma test. Gastric irritancy was markedly reduced after chelation by copper, followed in order by zinc, cobalt, manganese and nickel chelates. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Summary A method has been developed for the simultaneous formation and solvent extraction of cobalt (II), copper (II), iron (II) and vanadium (IV) complexes of bis (acetylpivalylmethane)ethylenediamine (H2APM2en) in methyl isobutyl ketone. The complexes are eluted from a reversed phase HPLC column with a mixture of methanol:water:acetonitrile and detection was at 260 nm. The method has been applied to the simultaneous determination of cobalt, copper, iron and vanadium in crude petroleum oils at the ng level.  相似文献

In aqueous ethanol cobalt(II), nickel(II) and copper(I) react instantaneously with 2,3-quinoxalinedithiol at pH 2 to form strongly coloured complexes exhibiting absorption maxima at 510, 606 and 665, and 625 nm, respectively. At pH 6 the reaction of copper can be virtually eliminated, while the cobalt and nickel reactions show only small decreases in sensitivity. This behaviour has been made the basis of a rapid method for the simultaneous determination of these three elements. The absorbances of the complexes have been found to be additive for all combinations of these elements in which the individual concentrations have been varied from approximately 0.1 to 1 ppm. A least-squares estimate of the concentration of any of the elements may be readily obtained by using a simple linear equation based on the absorbance readings and a set of constants derived from the spectrophotometric data. The analyses of seven synthetic solutions and four NBS Standard Reference Materials yielded a maximum error of 6.0% and an average error of 1.6%.  相似文献

Some furanyl-derived sulfonamides and their cobalt(II), copper(II), nickel(II), and zinc(II) complexes have been synthesized. The structural formulae of the complexes have been inferred by using physico-chemical and spectroscopic methods. The new sulfonamides behave as bidentate ligands in complexation with the metals and an octahedral geometry has been suggested for all these complexes. Both the free sulfonamides and their complexes have been screened for their in vitro antibacterial and antifungal activities against a number of bacteria and fungi. In vitro cytotoxic properties of all the compounds were also studied using brine shrimp bioassay.  相似文献

The reaction of 5-methoxy-5,6-diphenyl-4,5-dihydro-2H-[1,2,4]triazine-3-thione L1H2OCH3 with copper(II) chloride leads to the formation of an organic molecule L2 containing two triazine rings linked by a new S-S bond. A binuclear copper(II) complex, 1, containing L1 is also isolated. The reaction of L1H2OCH3 with copper(I) chloride yields a hexanuclear cluster of copper(I), 2, in which the copper atoms form a distorted octahedron with the ligand L1 acting as an NS chelate and sulfur bridge, giving to the copper ion a trigonal geometry by one N and two S atoms. In any reaction of the disulfide L2 with metal salts, complexes containing this molecule are isolated. Reactions with copper(I) and copper(II) chloride and nickel(II) and cadmium(II) nitrate produce the S-S bond cleavage, giving complexes containing the triazine L1 behaving as the NS anion, which show spectroscopic characteristics identical with those formed by reaction with L1H2OCH3. However, the reaction with cobalt(II) nitrate gives a low-spin octahedral cobalt(III) complex, in which an asymmetric rupture of the disulfide L2 has been produced, giving an unexpected complex with a new ligand and keeping the S-S bond.  相似文献

A study on the extraction of copper(II), cobalt(II), and nickel(II) from solutions containing ions of both metals with N-salicylideneaniline(SAN) in chloroform has been realized. Distribution of the metal ions in wide range of pH has been studied. Extraction of copper(II) was always favored over that of cobalt(II). Extraction of copper(II) from binary metal solution is selective and it can be quantitatively separated from cobalt(II). The equilibrium constant of the extraction of cobalt and nickel from an aqueous solution containing both metals using SAN were evaluated. The separation factors for cobalt and nickel were expressed as a function of the distribution of nickel and cobalt. From these results, salicylideneaniline is an adequate extractant for extractive separation of such mixtures.  相似文献

An optimized flow-injection manifold for the chemiluminescence determination of cobalt(II), copper(II), iron(II) and chromium(III) by their catalytic effect on the luminol reaction is described. Detection limits are 0.0006, 0.08, 0.3 and 0.1 ng ml?1, respectively. The suppression effect of several carboxylic acids on the emission intensity is discussed. A procedure for the separation of cobalt(II), copper(II) and iron(II) on a low-capacity, silica-based cation-exchange column, using 5 mM oxalic acid at pH 4.2 as the mobile phase and post-column detection via the luminol reaction, is also described. Detection limits for cobalt(II) and copper(II) are 0.01 and 5 ng ml?1, respectively.  相似文献

Summary Complexes of furan and thiophene azo-oximes with iron(II), cobalt(III), nickel(II) and copper(II) have been prepared and characterised. Iron(II), cobalt(III) and copper(II) complexes are diamagnetic in the solid state. The diamagnetism of the copper(II) chelates is suggestive of antiferromagnetic interaction between two copper centres.1H n.m.r. spectral data suggest atrans-octahedral geometry for the tris-chelates of cobalt(III). Nickel(II) complexes are paramagnetic, in contrast to the diamagnetism of the analogous complexes of arylazooximes. The electronic spectra are suggestive of octahedral geometry for the iron(II), cobalt(III) and nickel(II) complexes, andD 4h -symmetry for copper(II). Infrared data indicate N-bonding of the oximino-group to the metal ions.  相似文献

Complexes of copper(II), nickel(II), cobalt(II), and zinc(II) with 2-[2-(6-methylbenzothiazolyl)azo]-5-dimethylaminobenzoic acid have been prepared and characterized by elemental analysis, vibrational spectra, magnetic susceptibility measurements, conductance measurements and e.p.r. spectra. Stability constants have been evaluated potentiometrically. Electronic spectra, magnetic susceptibility measurements and molecular modeling studies support a distorted square planar geometry around the metal ions. Vibrational spectra indicate the coordination of the azo group, nitrogen of benzothiazole, the carboxylate anion and the acetate ion on complexation with the metal ion. All complexes are found to be monomers. The stability of the complexes follow the order: copper(II) > nickel(II) > cobalt(II) > zinc(II).  相似文献

The reagent bis(isovalerylacetone)ethylenediimine(H2IVA2en) has been examined for HPLC separation and UV determination of cobalt, copper, iron and platinum using off-line precolumn derivatization and extraction in chloroform. The complexes of cobalt(II), cobalt(III), iron(II), iron(III) and the reagent have been subsequently separated on a Microsorb C-18 column. The complexes were eluted isocratically using ternary mixtures of methanol/water/acetonitrile. Detection was achieved by UV monitoring. Detection limits for Co(II), Co(III), Fe(II) and Fe(III) were 2.5–5.0 ng/injection, based on 0.5–1.0 g/ml with 5 l/injection. The concentration of cobalt(II) and cobalt(III) in aqueous solution have been determined. The presence of oxovanadium(IV), platinum(II), and nickel(II) did not affect the determinations. The HPLC method developed has been applied to the determination of cobalt, copper, iron and platinum in pharmaceutical preparations at the 30 g/g to 15 mg/g level and the obtained results were compared to those of atomic absorption spectrometry.  相似文献

Potentiometric oxidation-reduction titrations in N,N-dimethylformamide (DMF) have been shown to be valid at millimolar concentrations of titrand. Forward and reverse titrations that involve the oxidants copper(II), chromium(VI), iron(III), and mercury(II) with the reductants titanium(III), cobalt(II), ascorbic acid, cysteine, and thiolactic acid have been examined. Some preliminary results of titanium(III) in DMF titrimetry in the determination of copper and iron in alloys are presented.  相似文献

The chloro complexes of 2-amino-3-methylpyridine with cobalt(II) and copper(II) have been prepared in ethanolic solution and solid compounds have been isolated. The compounds have stoichiometry ML2Cl2 whereM is Co2+ or Cu2+ and L is 2-amino-3-methylpyridine. Spectral and magnetic studies have been used to obtain information about the environment of the metal ion in these compounds. The compounds have tetrahedral structures. The thermal decomposition of each compound has been studied using thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis. Thermogravimetry studies show that the cobalt complex forms an intermediate compound before the metal oxide is produced while the copper compound undergoes decomposition with loss of organic ligand and the formation of copper chloride which then decomposes to give an oxide of copper. The enthalpy of reaction for each of the processes has been calculated from the thermal analysis curves.  相似文献

The synthesis, reactivities, spectroscopic, electrochemical, and structural studies of copper(I), copper(II), nickel(II), and cobalt(II) complexes of 6,6'-bis(bromomethyl)-2,2'-bipyridine (bpy-Br2) and 6,6'-bis(chloromethyl)-2,2'-bipyridine (bpy-Cl2) have been reported. The copper(I) complex [CuI(bpy-Br2)2](ClO4) (1) has been obtained in two crystallographic modifications, in which the coordination geometry of the metal center has the D2d symmetry. The reaction between CuCl2.2H2O and bpy-Br2 has been followed spectrophotometrically at 45 degrees C over a period of 7 h, and a mechanism for the intramolecular halogen exchange and scrambling in the initially formed compound [CuII(bpy-Br2)Cl2] (5) has been proposed. Depending upon the reaction conditions, several halogen-exchanged products, namely [CuII(bpy-Br1.86Cl0.14)(Cl1.89Br0.11)] (2), [CuII(bpy-Br1.81Cl0.19)(Cl1.70Br0.30)(H2O)] (3), and [CuII(bpy-Br0.63Cl1.37)(Cl0.54Br1.46)] (4), have been isolated in crystalline form. The reaction between bpy-Cl2 and CuCl2.2H2O provides [CuII(bpy-Cl2)Cl2] (7) and [CuII(bpy-Cl2)Cl2(H2O)] (8), whereas CoCl2.6H2O and NiCl2.6H20 on reaction with bpy-Br2 under boiling condition produce [CoII(bpy-Br0.5Cl1.5)(ClBr)] (11) and [NiII(bpy-Br0.46Cl1.54)(Cl0.73Br1.27)(H2O)] (12), respectively. The X-ray structures determined for the 4-coordinate compounds 2, 4, and 7 show flattened tetrahedral geometry for the metal center with the D2 symmetry. Both 5-coordinate compounds 3 and 12 have square pyramidal geometry, and whereas the nickel(II) complex 12 has near-perfect geometry (tau = 0.015), considerable distortion is observed for the copper(II) complex 3 (tau = 0.25). Complexes [CuII(bpy-Cl2)Br2] (6) and [CuII(bpy-Br2)Br2] under boiling condition undergo photoreduction to produce the dimeric copper(I) complexes [{CuI(bpy-Cl1.30Br0.70)(mu-Br)}2](9) and [{CuI(bpy-Br2)(mu-Br)}2] (10), respectively. The fact that the photoreduction of [CuII(bpy-Cl2)Br2] (6) and [CuII(bpy-Br2)Br2] do not take place in absence of light has been established by spectrophotometric measurements. The crystal structures of 9 and 10 have been determined. The electrochemical behavior of all the copper complexes 1-10 has been studied in acetonitrile and dichloromethane. The E1/2 values for the CuI/CuII redox couples show strong solvent dependence and for a given system the E1/2 value is more positive in dichloromethane relative to that in acetonitrile. For the compounds [CuII(bpy-Br2-xClx)(Cl2-yBry)] (x = 0-2, y = 0-2), the E1/2 values become more positive with the increase of y value.  相似文献

Salicylidene-N-anilinoacetohydrazone (H(2)L(1)) and 2-hydroxy-1-naphthylidene-N-anilinoacetohydrazone (H(2)L(2)) and their iron(III), manganese(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II), copper(II) and zinc(II) complexes have been synthesized and characterized by IR, electronic spectra, molar conductivities, magnetic susceptibilities and ESR. Mononuclear complexes are formed with molar ratios of 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3 (M:L). The IR studies reveal various modes of chelation. The electronic absorption spectra and magnetic susceptibility measurements show that the iron(III), nickel(II) and cobalt(II) complexes of H(2)L(1) have octahedral geometry. While the cobalt(II) complexes of H(2)L(2) were separated as tetrahedral structure. The copper(II) complexes have square planar stereochemistry. The ESR parameters of the copper(II) complexes at room temperature were calculated. The g values for copper(II) complexes proved that the Cu-O and Cu-N bonds are of high covalency.  相似文献
