We obtain two sufficient conditions for an interval self-map to have a chaotic set with positive Hausdorff dimension. Furthermore, we point out that for any interval Lipschitz maps with positive topological entropy there is a chaotic set with positive Hausdorff dimension.  相似文献

In this note we investigate radial limit sets of arbitrary regular conformal iterated function systems. We show that for each of these systems there exists a variety of finite hyperbolic subsystems such that the spectrum made of the Hausdorff dimensions of the limit sets of these subsystems is dense in the interval between 0 and the Hausdorff dimension of the given conformal iterated function system. This result has interesting applications in conformal dynamics and elementary fractal number theory.  相似文献

This paper studies fractal properties of polar sets for random string processes. We give upper and lower bounds of the hitting probabilities on compact sets and prove some sufficient conditions and necessary conditions for compact sets to be polar for the random string process. Moreover, we also determine the smallest Hausdorff dimensions of non-polar sets by constructing a Cantor-type set to connect its Hausdorff dimension and capacity.  相似文献

It is known that, unlike the Hausdorff dimension, the Assouad dimension of a self-similar set can exceed the similarity dimension if there are overlaps in the construction. Our main result is the following precise dichotomy for self-similar sets in the line: either the weak separation property is satisfied, in which case the Hausdorff and Assouad dimensions coincide; or the weak separation property is not satisfied, in which case the Assouad dimension is maximal (equal to one). In the first case we prove that the self-similar set is Ahlfors regular, and in the second case we use the fact that if the weak separation property is not satisfied, one can approximate the identity arbitrarily well in the group generated by the similarity mappings, and this allows us to build a weak tangent that contains an interval. We also obtain results in higher dimensions and provide illustrative examples showing that the ‘equality/maximal’ dichotomy does not extend to this setting.  相似文献

We provide sufficient conditions for the conformal measures induced by regular conformal infinite iterated function systems to satisfy the doubling property. We apply these conditions to iterated function systems derived from the continued fraction algorithm—continued fractions with restricted entries. For these systems our conditions are expressed in terms of the asymptotic density properties of the allowed entries. As examples, we give some relatively large classes of sets of continued fractions with restricted entries for which the corresponding conformal measures have the doubling property. Similarly, we give some other classes for which the conformal measure does not have the doubling property.  相似文献

In this note we consider the Lüroth expansion of a real number, and we study the Hausdorff dimension of a class of sets defined in terms of the frequencies of digits in the expansion. We also study the speed at which the approximants obtained from the Lüroth expansion converge. In addition, we describe the multifractal properties of the level sets of the Lyapunov exponent, which measures the exponential speed of approximation obtained from the approximants. Finally, we describe the relation of the Lüroth expansion with the continued fraction expansion and the β-expansion. We remark that our work is still another application of the theory of dynamical systems to number theory.  相似文献

Using Voiculescu's notion of a matricial microstate we introduce fractal dimensions and entropies for finite sets of selfadjoint operators in a tracial von Neumann algebra. We show that they possess properties similar to their classical predecessors. We relate the new quantities to free entropy and free entropy dimension and show that a modified version of free Hausdorff dimension is an algebraic invariant. We compute the free Hausdorff dimension in the cases where the set generates a finite-dimensional algebra or where the set consists of a single selfadjoint. We show that the Hausdorff dimension becomes additive for such sets in the presence of freeness.  相似文献

We consider expanding maps such that the unit interval can be represented as a full symbolic shift space with bounded distortion. There are already theorems about the Hausdorff dimension for sets defined by the set of accumulation points for the frequencies of words in one symbolic space at a time. We show that the dimension is preserved when such sets defined using different maps are intersected. More precisely, it is proven that the dimension of any countable intersection of sets defined by their sets of accumulation for frequencies of words in different expansions, has dimension equal to the infimum of the dimensions of the sets that are intersected. As a consequence, the set of numbers for which the frequencies do not exist has full dimension even after countable intersections. We also prove that this holds for a dense set of non-integer base expansions.  相似文献

In this paper we obtain some results about general conformal iterated function systems. We obtain a simple characterization of the packing dimension of the limit set of such systems and introduce some special systems which exhibit some interesting behavior. We then apply these results to the set of values of real continued fractions with restricted entries. We pay special attention to the Hausdorff and packing measures of these sets. We also give direct interpretations of these measure theoretic results in terms of the arithmetic density properties of the set of allowed entries.

In this paper we study the structure of negative limit sets of maps on the unit interval. We prove that every α-limit set is an ω-limit set, while the converse is not true in general. Surprisingly, it may happen that the space of all α-limit sets of interval maps is not closed in the Hausdorff metric (and thus some ω-limit sets are never obtained as α-limit sets). Moreover, we prove that the set of all recurrent points is closed if and only if the space of all α-limit sets is closed.  相似文献

The dimension theory of self-similar sets is quite well understood in the cases when some separation conditions (open set condition or weak separation condition) or the so-called transversality condition hold. Otherwise the study of the Hausdorff dimension is far from well understood. We investigate the properties of the Hausdorff dimension of self-similar sets such that some functions in the corresponding iterated function system share the same fixed point. Then it is not possible to apply directly known techniques. In this paper we are going to calculate the Hausdorff dimension for almost all contracting parameters and calculate the proper dimensional Hausdorff measure of the attractor.  相似文献

Let μ be a self-similar measure in Rd. A point xRd for which the limit does not exist is called a divergence point. Very recently there has been an enormous interest in investigating the fractal structure of various sets of divergence points. However, all previous work has focused exclusively on the study of the Hausdorff dimension of sets of divergence points and nothing is known about the packing dimension of sets of divergence points. In this paper we will give a systematic and detailed account of the problem of determining the packing dimensions of sets of divergence points of self-similar measures. An interesting and surprising consequence of our results is that, except for certain trivial cases, many natural sets of divergence points have distinct Hausdorff and packing dimensions.  相似文献

We consider a class of iterated function systems consisting of a countable infinity of non-conformal contractions, extending both the self-affine limit sets of Lalley and Gatzouras as well as the infinite iterated function systems of Mauldin and Urbański. Natural examples include the sets of points in the plane obtained by taking the binary expansion along the vertical and the continued fraction expansion along the horizontal and deleting certain pairs of digits. We prove that the Hausdorff dimension of the limit set is equal to the supremum of the dimensions of compactly supported ergodic measures, which are given by a Ledrappier and Young type formula. In addition we consider the multifractal analysis of Birkhoff averages for countable families of potentials. We obtain a conditional variational principle for the level sets.  相似文献
