Synthesis of nanocomposites of iron oxide & chromium oxide (α-Fe2O3–Cr2O3) with different concentrations was carried out by a wet-chemical method and the structural, optical and hyperfine properties have been investigated. The prepared nanocomposites were characterized by powder X-ray diffractometry (PXRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), UV–VIS spectroscopy, Fourier transformed infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and Mössbauer spectroscopy. XRD measurements confirmed the formation of pure phase composites having particle sizes in nanometer regime. The same has been corroborated by TEM micrographs, which revealed that the formation of monodispersed nanocomposites have the average particle size 44 nm. Mössbauer study of the samples showed the transition of iron oxide from anti-ferromagnetic state to paramagnetic state having a typical relaxation in the spectrum with increasing concentration of Cr2O3.  相似文献

Ni3–xCr2x/3(PO4)2 (x=0 and 0.02) microcrystalline powders were obtained as single phases via a modified sol–gel Pechini-type in situ polymerizable complex method. The samples were characterized using scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, cathodoluminescence (CL), and thermoluminescence (TL) techniques. We found that Cr3+ doping modified the average particle and distribution. The mean particle size was 0.441 μm for Ni3(PO4)2 and 0.267 μm for Ni2.98Cr0.013(PO4)2. The results also reveal that Cr3+ doping notably enhanced the CL and TL UV-blue emission.  相似文献

Strontium hexaferrite (SrFe12O19) nanoparticles were synthesized by the chemical coprecipitation method and using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as a protective agent. The synthesized samples were characterized by differential thermal analysis, X-ray diffraction, scanning and transmission electron microscopy, particle size analyzer, sedimentation test and vibrating sample magnetometer. In the presence of PVA, the single-phase SrFe12O19 nanoparticles were obtained at low temperature of 650 °C. The average particle size of SrFe12O19 precursor was 15 nm, which increased to 61 nm after calcination at 650 °C. The magnetic measurements indicated that PVA decreased coercivity from 4711 to 3216 Oe with particle size reduction. The results showed that PVA as a protective agent could be effective in decreasing the particle size, calcination temperature and coercivity of SrFe12O19 nanoparticles.  相似文献

Magnetization of the ZnFe2O4 sample of average size 4 nm measured with SQUID in the temperature range 5–300 K shows anomalous behaviour in field cooled (FC) and zero-field-cooled (ZFC) conditions. The FC and ZFC curves measured in 50 Oe field cross each other a little before the peaks. No such anomaly is observed with samples of 6 nm particle size made with the same procedure. The characteristics of the FC and ZFC curves are very different in ZnFe2O4 samples of the same size (6 nm) made via two different chemical routes. The genesis of these differences are suggested to be in cationic configuration and spin disorder. Fe-extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) studies show that there is around 80% inversion in case of zinc ferrite (ZnFe2O4) with the particle size 4 nm, whereas ZnFe2O4 of size 6 nm shows 40% inversion. The samples with an average particle size of 7 nm and more show negligible inversion. Theoretical simulations suggest that the electrostatic energy of the system plays a crucial role in deciding the cationic configuration of spinel ferrites.  相似文献

In this work we report the optical, morphological and structural characterization and diode application of Cr2O3 nanofilms grown on p-Si substrates by spin coating and annealing process. X-ray diffraction (XRD), non-contact mode atomic force microscopy (NC-AFM), ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy were used for characterization of nanofilms. For Cr2O3 nanofilms, the average particle size determined from XRD and NC-AFM measurements was approximately 70 nm. Structure analyses of nanofilms demonstrate that the single phase Cr2O3 on silicon substrate is of high a crystalline structure with a dominant in hexagonal (1 1 0) orientation. The morphologic analysis of the films indicates that the films formed from hexagonal nanoparticles are with low roughness and uniform. UV-vis absorption measurements indicate that the band gap of the Cr2O3 film is 3.08 eV. The PL measurement shows that the Cr2O3 nanofilm has a strong and narrow ultraviolet emission, which facilitates potential applications in future photoelectric nanodevices. Au/Cr2O3/p-Si metal/interlayer/semiconductor (MIS) diodes were fabricated for investigation of the electronic properties such as current-voltage and capacitance-voltage. Ideality factor and barrier height for Au//Cr2O3/p-Si diode were calculated as 2.15 eV and 0.74 eV, respectively. Also, interfacial state properties of the MIS diode were determined. The interface-state density of the MIS diode was found to vary from 2.90 × 1013 eV−1 cm−2 to 8.45 × 1012 eV−1 cm−2.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline cobalt ferrites with nominal composition CoCrxFe2−xO4 ranging from x=0.0 to 0.5 with step increment of 0.25 were prepared by sol–gel auto combustion and chemical co-precipitation techniques. A comparative study of structural, electrical and magnetic properties of these ferrites has been measured using different characterization techniques. Structural and micro-structural studies were measured using X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. Crystallite sizes of the series are within the range of 12–29±2 nm. Lattice parameters decrease by increasing Cr3+ concentration. FTIR confirms the presence of two lattice absorption bands. DC electrical resistivity increases to a value of ∼1010 Ω-cm with increase in Cr3+ concentration, but the most significant increase is in samples prepared by sol–gel combustion. Dielectric properties have been measured as a function of frequency at room temperature. Dielectric loss decreases to 0.1037 and 0.0108 at 5 MHz for chemical co-precipitation and sol–gel combustion, respectively. Impedance measurements further helped in analyzing the electrical properties and to separate the grain and grain boundary resistance effects using a complex impedance analysis. Magnetic parameters were studied using a vibrating sample magnetometer in the applied field of 10 kOe. The saturation magnetization decreased from 63 to 10.8 emu/gm with increase in Cr3+ concentration.  相似文献

Magnetic nanofibers of ZnFe2O4/γ-Fe2O3 composite were synthesized by electrospinning from a sol-gel solution containing a molar ratio (Fe/Zn) of 3. The effects of the calcination temperature on phase composition, particle size and magnetic properties have been investigated. Zinc ferrite fibers were obtained by calcinating the electrospun fibers in air from 300 to 800 °C and characterized by thermogravimetric analyses, Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoemission spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, vibration sample magnetometry and magnetic force microscopy. The resulting fibers, with diameters ranging from 90 to 150 nm, were ferrimagnetic with high saturation magnetization as compared to bulk. An increase in the calcination temperature resulted in an increase in particle size and saturation magnetization. The observed increase in saturation magnetization was most likely due to the formation and growth of ZnFe2O4/γ-Fe2O3 diphase crystals. The highest saturation magnetization (45 emu/g) was obtained for fibers calcined at 800 °C.  相似文献

Pure and cerium doped Dy2O3 nanoparticles were prepared by wet chemical synthesis route. The particles were subjected to thermal, structural, morphological and optical property studies. The calcination temperature was chosen based on the decomposition of the samples revealed by TG studies. EDS and FTIR results confirmed the presence of cerium in the Dy2O3 system. The particle size calculated from Williamson-Hall plot was consistent with TEM results. The effect of cerium as a dopant on the UV–vis absorption and photoluminescence intensity has been studied. XRD and PL analyses demonstrate that the cerium ions uniformly substitute dysprosium sites in Dy2O3 lattice and hence influence the optical properties.  相似文献

Nanosized ZnGa2O4:Cr3+ powder is synthesized through hydrothermal method. The average particle size is 20 nm and they are spherical in shape. The excitation band from the charge transfer between Cr3+-O2− shows a blueshift behavior due to quantum confinement effect. X-ray diffraction pattern, Fourier transform-infrared spectrum, and electron paramagnetic resonance signal indicate that nanosized ZnGa2O4:Cr3+ phosphor shows many defect-related energy states and heavy lattice distortion in comparison with bulk ZnGa2O4:Cr3+ phosphor. Many defect states result in more nonradiative loss and shorter decay time.  相似文献

Nanocrystalline TiO2 thin films have been prepared by sol–gel dip coating method. X-ray diffraction results showed the formation of anatase phase TiO2 with grain size in the range of 18–26 nm. The HRTEM studies show that the average particle size of TiO2 is 24 nm. The EDX analysis confirmed that Ti and O elements are present in the samples. The optical absorption spectra reveal that the absorption edge shifts towards longer wavelength side with increase in annealing temperature.  相似文献

Size controlled cubic Fe3O4 nanoparticles in the size range 90–10 nm were synthesized by varying the ferric ion concentration using the oxidation method. A bimodal size distribution was found without ferric ion concentration and the monodispersity increased with higher concentration. The saturation magnetization decreased from 90 to 62 emu/g when the particle size is reduced to 10 nm. The Fe3O4 nanoparticles with average particle sizes 10 and 90 nm were surface modified with prussian blue. The attachment of prussian blue with Fe3O4 was found to depend on the concentration of HCl and the particle size. The saturation magnetization of prussian blue modified Fe3O4 varied from 10 to 80 emu/g depending on the particle size. The increased tendency for the attachment of prussian blue with smaller particle size was explained based on the surface charge. The prussian blue modified magnetite nanoparticles could be used as a radiotoxin remover in detoxification applications.  相似文献

Nanoplates of the MgAl2O4 spinel doped with Eu3+ ions were prepared by a microwave assisted hydrothermal method. Structural properties of the precursor calcined at 700 and 1000 oC powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). According to the obtained XRD patterns the formation of single-phase spinels after calcination was confirmed. The average spinel particle size was determined to be 11 nm after calcination at 700 °C and it increased up to 14 nm after calcination at 1000 °C. The photoluminescent properties of prepared powders with different Eu3+ ion concentrations (0-5% mol) were investigated using excitation and emission spectroscopy at room and low temperatures (77 K).  相似文献

Cr2O3 nanoparticles of sizes from 24 to 12 nm were synthesized by mechanical grinding. Magnetic hysteresis loops were observed in the temperature range 5-300 K. Zero-field magnetization measurements showed two peaks, at low temperature in the range 36-52 K and at high temperature in the range 255-290 K. They were found to shift to higher temperatures as the particle size was reduced. This was ascribed due to the enhancement of the effective anisotropy constant with a decrease in particle size. The exchange bias was found to increase as the particle size became smaller. This is believed to arise due to an increase in uncompensated spins as a result of large surface area created.  相似文献

Spinel ferrite NiFe2O4 nanoparticles (?25 nm) in SiO2 matrix were prepared by sol–gel method. The phase and average crystallite size of the samples were determined by X-ray diffraction method and the particle size distributions were studied by a transmission electron microscope. Magnetic properties of the samples were investigated with different ferrite particle sizes and at various temperatures down to 10 K. Superparamagnetic properties were observed at room temperature when the particle size is less than 10 nm.In superparamagnetic state, the field dependence of magnetization follows Langevin function which was originally developed for paramagnetism. The effective anisotropy constant Keff is found to increase significantly with the decrease in particle volume and an order of magnitude higher than that of the bulk samples when the particle size is below 5 nm due to the dominance of surface anisotropy. In case of nanosized systems, the effect of size reduction on the law of approach to saturation has also been studied in detail.  相似文献

A nanometer-sized Al2O3 powder was prepared by calcination of the nanometer-sized boehmite powder at different temperatures for 3 h in air. The main absorption bands located at about 200, 236, 255, 334 and 348 nm always occur in any phase of nanometer-sized alumina powder, and also do not change with the particle size. The luminescence bands at 404 nm in nanometer-sized alumina powder are presented under 236 and 254 nm excitation, respectively. The luminescence intensity of peak located at 404 nm decreases quickly with the increasing alumina powder size. It is suggested that the defect level in the nanometer alumina powder should be taken into account for the mechanism of new luminescent emission bands.  相似文献

Single phase zinc ferrite (ZnFe2O4) nanoparticles have been prepared by the coprecipitation method without any subsequent calcination. The effects of precipitation temperature in the range 20–80 °C on the structural and the magnetic properties of zinc ferrite nanoparticles were investigated. The crystallite size, microstructure and magnetic properties of the prepared nanoparticles were studied using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transmission infrared spectrum, transmission electron microscope (TEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer and vibrating sample magnetometer. The XRD results showed that the coprecipitated nanoparticles were single phase zinc ferrite with mixture of normal and inverse spinel structures. Furthermore, ZnFe2O4 nanoparticles have the crystallite size in the range 5–10 nm, as confirmed by TEM. The magnetic measurements exhibited that the zinc ferrite nanoparticles synthesized at 40 °C were superparamagnetic with the maximum magnetization of 7.3 emu/g at 10 kOe.  相似文献

The effect of Cr3+ substitution in Mg–Zn ferrite, with a chemical formula Mg0.5Zn0.5CrxFe2−xO4 (x=0.0–1.0), synthesized by a sol–gel auto-combustion reaction is presented in this paper. The resultant powders were investigated by various techniques, including X-ray diffractometry (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), infrared spectroscopy (IR), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), and DC resistivity. The XRD pattern revealed that the cubic spinel structure is maintained for the all the compositions. The particle sizes measured from XRD and TEM are in good agreement with each other. The cation distribution suggests that Mg2+, Cr3+ and Fe3+ have strong preference towards octahedral B-site. The theoretical lattice constant and experimental lattice constant match each other very well. The IR analysis supports the presently accepted cation distribution. The saturation magnetization decreases linearly with increasing Cr3+ content. Curie temperatures are obtained by the Laoria and AC susceptibility techniques. The dc resistivity has been investigated as a function of temperature and composition.  相似文献

Cr2O3 doped SnO2–Zn2SnO4 composite ceramics were prepared by traditional ceramic processing and the varistor, dielectric properties were investigated. With increasing Cr2O3 content, the breakdown electrical field EB increases from 11 to 92 V/mm and the relative dielectric constant εr measured at 1 kHz, 50 °C decreases from 11,028 to 3412, respectively. The barrier height ?B about 0.8–0.84 eV and the decreasing of SnO2 grain size suggest that the varistor behavior with high εr is originated from SnO2–SnO2 or SnO2–Zn2SnO4 grain boundary. In the dielectric spectra lower than 1 kHz, a dielectric peak is presented and depressed with increasing bias voltage. Similarly, at high temperature, the dielectric constant also presents a dielectric peak in the temperature spectra and the peak becomes faint with increasing frequency. The exhibition of the dielectric peak is thought to be attributed to the conduction of grain boundary since it is accompanied by the sharp increase of dielectric loss. In addition, a dielectric relaxation with the activation energy about 0.4–0.5 eV was observed in the temperature range of 20–100 °C. Based on the results, the formation mechanism of Schottky barriers at grain boundaries and the varistor behavior with high dielectric constant are well understood.  相似文献

We present secondary phase identification studies on Cr doped ZnO nanoparticles prepared by the sol-gel method. X-ray diffraction analysis confirms the formation of chromium oxides and there is found to be an increase of lattice parameter with thermal annealing. Scanning electron microscopic studies show the increase in the crystalline nature and particle size. Optical absorption measurements of the as prepared sample exhibit a strong band at 356 nm due to the free exciton absorption of the ZnO nanoparticles. An absorption band at 277 nm is due to the 3T13T2 transition in Cr4+ ions which appears only for the annealed samples. Photoluminescence studies show that deep level emission is completely suppressed after Cr2O3 formation/thermal annealing. Raman and FTIR spectra reveal formation of the Cr2O3 phase. Thermal annealing leads to the increase of crystalline nature which gives an enhancement to the Raman modes.  相似文献

Superparamagnetic nanoparticles have been widely applied in various bio-medical applications. To date, it is still a challenge to synthesize nanosized Fe3O4 particles with controlled size and distribution. In this paper, a novel solvent-free thermal decomposition method is reported for synthesizing Fe3O4 nanoparticles. Size and morphology of the nanoparticles are determined by TEM while the structure of the nanoparticles is identified by FTIR, XPS and TGA measurements. Magnetic properties of the obtained particles are determined using VSM and SQUID measurement. The particle size of the Fe3O4 can be tailored by adjusting either reaction temperature or time. When the reaction temperature is increased to 330 °C and the reaction time is extended to 4 h, the average particle size of the obtained nanoparticles is ∼9 nm, while Ms value reaches ∼76 emu/g. The as synthesized Fe3O4 nanoparticles show well-established superparamagnetic properties with the blocking temperature at around 100 K.  相似文献
