Let X,Y,B be three independent random variables such that X has the same distribution function as YB. Assume that B is a beta random variable with positive parameters α,β and Y has distribution function H with H(0)=0. In this paper we derive a recursive formula for calculation of H, if the distribution function Hα,β of X is known. Furthermore, we investigate the relation between the tail asymptotic behaviour of X and Y, which is closely related to asymptotics of Weyl fractional-order integral operators. We present three applications of our asymptotic results concerning the extremes of two random samples with underlying distribution functions H and Hα,β, respectively, and the conditional limiting distribution of bivariate elliptical distributions.  相似文献

In this paper we consider elliptical random vectors in Rd,d≥2 with stochastic representation RAU where R is a positive random radius independent of the random vector U which is uniformly distributed on the unit sphere of Rd and ARd×d is a non-singular matrix. When R has distribution function in the Weibull max-domain of attraction we say that the corresponding elliptical random vector is of Type III. For the bivariate set-up, Berman [Sojurns and Extremes of Stochastic Processes, Wadsworth & Brooks/ Cole, 1992] obtained for Type III elliptical random vectors an interesting asymptotic approximation by conditioning on one component. In this paper we extend Berman's result to Type III elliptical random vectors in Rd. Further, we derive an asymptotic approximation for the conditional distribution of such random vectors.  相似文献

We derive higher-order expansions of L-statistics of independent risks X 1, …,X n under conditions on the underlying distribution function F. The new results are applied to derive the asymptotic expansions of ratios of two kinds of risk measures, stop-loss premium and excess return on capital, respectively. Several examples and a Monte Carlo simulation study show the efficiency of our novel asymptotic expansions.  相似文献

Let {Xn,n?1} be iid elliptical random vectors in Rd,d≥2 and let I,J be two non-empty disjoint index sets. Denote by Xn,I,Xn,J the subvectors of Xn with indices in I,J, respectively. For any aRd such that aJ is in the support of X1,J the conditional random sample Xn,I|Xn,J=aJ,n≥1 consists of elliptically distributed random vectors. In this paper we investigate the relation between the asymptotic behaviour of the multivariate extremes of the conditional sample and the unconditional one. We show that the asymptotic behaviour of the multivariate extremes of both samples is the same, provided that the associated random radius of X1 has distribution function in the max-domain of attraction of a univariate extreme value distribution.  相似文献

We consider an inverse first-passage time (FPT) problem for a homogeneous one-dimensional diffusion X(t), starting from a random position η. Let S(t) be an assigned boundary, such that P(ηS(0))=1, and F an assigned distribution function. The problem consists of finding the distribution of η such that the FPT of X(t) below S(t) has distribution F. We obtain some generalizations of the results of Jackson et al., 2009, which refer to the case when X(t) is Brownian motion and S(t) is a straight line across the origin.  相似文献

Let (Xn)n?N be a sequence of real, independent, not necessarily identically distributed random variables (r.v.) with distribution functions FXn, and Sn = Σi=1nXi. The authors present limit theorems together with convergence rates for the normalized sums ?(n)Sn, where ?: NR+, ?(n) → 0, n → ∞, towards appropriate limiting r.v. X, the convergence being taken in the weak (star) sense. Thus higher order estimates are given for the expression ∝Rf(x) d[F?(n)Sn(x) ? FX(x)] which depend upon the normalizing function ?, decomposability properties of X and smoothness properties of the function f under consideration. The general theorems of this unified approach subsume O- and o-higher order error estimates based upon assumptions on associated moments. These results are also extended to multi-dimensional random vectors.  相似文献

Let FF be a distribution function with negative mean and regularly varying right tail. Under a mild smoothness condition we derive higher order asymptotic expansions for the tail distribution of the maxima of the random walk generated by FF. The expansion is based on an expansion for the right Wiener–Hopf factor which we derive first. An application to ruin probabilities is developed.  相似文献

Let {X(t):t∈[0,)} be a centered stationary Gaussian process. We study the exact asymptotics of P(sups∈[0,T]X(s)>u), as u, where T is an independent of {X(t)} nonnegative random variable. It appears that the heaviness of T impacts the form of the asymptotics, leading to three scenarios: the case of integrable T, the case of T having regularly varying tail distribution with parameter λ∈(0,1) and the case of T having slowly varying tail distribution.  相似文献

Let X 1,…,X n be pairwise asymptotically independent or pairwise upper extended negatively dependent real-valued random variables. Under the condition that the distribution of the maximum of X 1,…,X n belongs to some subclass of heavy-tailed distributions, we investigate the asymptotic behavior of the partial sum and its maximum generated by dependent X 1,…,X n . As an application, we consider a discrete-time risk model with insurance and financial risks and derive the asymptotics for the finite-time ruin probability.  相似文献

Let (X, Y) = (RU 1, RU 2) be a given bivariate scale mixture random vector, with R > 0 independent of the bivariate random vector (U 1, U 2). In this paper we derive exact asymptotic expansions of the joint survivor probability of (X, Y) assuming that R has distribution function in the Gumbel max-domain of attraction, and (U 1, U 2) has a specific local asymptotic behaviour around some absorbing point. We apply our results to investigate the asymptotic behaviour of joint conditional excess distribution and the asymptotic independence for two models of bivariate scale mixture distributions.  相似文献

Let X be a locally finite simplicial complex of dimension n, n? 5, equipped with a k-fold end structure [4] and consider a piecewise linear (n + 1)-dimensional manifold M that is proper homotopy equivalent to X × R by F:MX × R, where R is the set of real numbers. The question arises as to whether or not the manifold M can be split, i.e., written as M = N × R where N is a n-manifold and where there is a proper homotopy between F and (p1 ° F0) × id:N × RX × R, preserving the natural (k+1)-fold end structure, where F0 is F|N and p1 is the projection X × RX. Of particular significance is the fact that X is noncompact. When the construction of such splittings is attempted, algebraic obstructions arise, which vanish if and only if the construction can be completed. This paper develops such an obstruction theory by utilizing methods of L.C. Siebenmann and the k-fold end structures of F. Waldhausen.  相似文献

In this paper, we are interested in the calculation of the Haezendonck-Goovaerts risk measure, which is defined via a convex Young function and a parameter q∈(0,1) representing the confidence level. We mainly focus on the case in which the risk variable follows a distribution function from a max-domain of attraction. For this case, we restrict the Young function to be a power function and we derive exact asymptotics for the Haezendonck-Goovaerts risk measure as q1. As a subsidiary, we also consider the case with an exponentially distributed risk variable and a general Young function, and we obtain an analytical expression for the Haezendonck-Goovaerts risk measure.  相似文献

Let X1,X2,… be i.i.d. random variables with a continuous distribution function. Let R0=0, Rk=min{j>Rk?1, such that Xj>Xj+1}, k?1. We prove that all finite-dimensional distributions of a process W(n)(t)=(R[nt]?2[nt])23n, t ? [0,1], converge to those of the standard Brownian motion.  相似文献

Let the random vector (X,Y) follow a bivariate Sarmanov distribution, where X is real-valued and Y is nonnegative. In this paper we investigate the impact of such a dependence structure between X and Y on the tail behavior of their product Z?=?XY. When X has a regularly varying tail, we establish an asymptotic formula, which extends Breiman’s theorem. Based on the obtained result, we consider a discrete-time insurance risk model with dependent insurance and financial risks, and derive the asymptotic and uniformly asymptotic behavior for the (in)finite-time ruin probabilities.  相似文献

By combining the findings of two recent, seminal papers by Nualart, Peccati and Tudor, we get that the convergence in law of any sequence of vector-valued multiple integrals Fn towards a centered Gaussian random vector N, with given covariance matrix C, is reduced to just the convergence of: (i) the fourth cumulant of each component of Fn to zero; (ii) the covariance matrix of Fn to C. The aim of this paper is to understand more deeply this somewhat surprising phenomenon. To reach this goal, we offer two results of a different nature. The first one is an explicit bound for d(F,N) in terms of the fourth cumulants of the components of F, when F is a Rd-valued random vector whose components are multiple integrals of possibly different orders, N is the Gaussian counterpart of F (that is, a Gaussian centered vector sharing the same covariance with F) and d stands for the Wasserstein distance. The second one is a new expression for the cumulants of F as above, from which it is easy to derive yet another proof of the previously quoted result by Nualart, Peccati and Tudor.  相似文献

Let Fn(x) be the empirical distribution function based on n independent random variables X1,…,Xn from a common distribution function F(x), and let X = Σi=1nXin be the sample mean. We derive the rate of convergence of Fn(X) to normality (for the regular as well as nonregular cases), a law of iterated logarithm, and an invariance principle for Fn(X).  相似文献

We prove the existence of a weakly dependent strictly stationary solution of the equation Xt=F(Xt1,Xt2,Xt3,…;ξt)Xt=F(Xt1,Xt2,Xt3,;ξt) called a chain with infinite memory. Here the innovations  ξtξt constitute an independent and identically distributed sequence of random variables. The function FF takes values in some Banach space and satisfies a Lipschitz-type condition. We also study the interplay between the existence of moments, the rate of decay of the Lipschitz coefficients of the function FF and the weak dependence properties. From these weak dependence properties, we derive strong laws of large number, a central limit theorem and a strong invariance principle.  相似文献

We investigate the estimation problem of parameters in a two-sample semiparametric model. Specifically, let X1,…,Xn be a sample from a population with distribution function G and density function g. Independent of the Xi’s, let Z1,…,Zm be another random sample with distribution function H and density function h(x)=exp[α+r(x)β]g(x), where α and β are unknown parameters of interest and g is an unknown density. This model has wide applications in logistic discriminant analysis, case-control studies, and analysis of receiver operating characteristic curves. Furthermore, it can be considered as a biased sampling model with weight function depending on unknown parameters. In this paper, we construct minimum Hellinger distance estimators of α and β. The proposed estimators are chosen to minimize the Hellinger distance between a semiparametric model and a nonparametric density estimator. Theoretical properties such as the existence, strong consistency and asymptotic normality are investigated. Robustness of proposed estimators is also examined using a Monte Carlo study.  相似文献
