Let Γ be a discrete group and fori=1,2; letα i be an action of Γ on a compact abelian groupX i by continuous automorphisms ofX i. We study measurable equivariant mapsf: (X 1,α 1)→(X 2,α 2), and prove a rigidity result under certain assumption on the order of mixing of the underlying actions.  相似文献

We prove a structure theorem for locally finite connected graphsX with infinitely many ends admitting a non-compact group of automorphisms which is transitive in its action on the space of ends, Ω X . For such a graphX, there is a uniquely determined biregular treeT (with both valencies finite), a continuous representationφ : Aut(X) → Aut(T) with compact kernel, an equivariant homeomorphism λ : Ω X → Ω T , and an equivariant map τ : Vert(X) → Vert(T) with finite fibers. Boundary-transitive trees are described, and some methods of constructing boundary-transitive graphs are discussed, as well as some examples.  相似文献

Let Q + denote the set of positive rational numbers. We define discrete probability measures ν x on the σ-algebra of subsets of Q +.We introduce additive functions ƒ: Q +G and obtain a bound for νx(ƒ (r) ∉ X+XX) using a probability related to some independent random variables. This inequality is an analogue to that proved by I. Ruzsa for additive arithmetical functions. Published in Lietuvos Matematikos Rinkinys, Vol. 46, No. 2, pp. 256–266, April–June, 2006.  相似文献

Given a probability measure μ on a locally compact second countable groupG the space of bounded μ-harmonic functions can be identified withL (η, α) where (η, α) is a BorelG-space with a σ-finite quasiinvariant measure α. Our goal is to show that when μ is an arbitrary spread out probability measure on a connected solvable Lie groupG then the μ-boundary (η, α) is a contractive homogeneous space ofG. Our approach is based on a study of a class of strongly approximately transitive (SAT) actions ofG. A BorelG-space η with a σ-finite quasiinvariant measure α is called SAT if it admits a probability measurev≪α, such that for every Borel set A with α(A)≠0 and every ε>0 there existsgG with ν(gA)>1−ε. Every μ-boundary is a standard SATG-space. We show that for a connected solvable Lie group every standard SATG-space is transitive, characterize subgroupsHG such that the homogeneous spaceG/H is SAT, and establish that the following conditions are equivalent forG/H: (a)G/H is SAT; (b)G/H is contractive; (c)G/H is an equivariant image of a μ-boundary.  相似文献

Iff:XX* is a homeomorphism of a metric separable spaceX into a compact metric spaceX* such thatf(X)=X*, then the pair (f,X*) is called a metric compactification ofX. An absoluteG δ-space (F σ-space)X is said to be of the first kind, if there exists a metric compactification (f,X*) ofX such that , whereG i are sets open inX* and dim[Fr(G i)]<dimX. (Fr(G i) being the boundary ofG i and dimX — the dimension ofX). An absoluteG δ-space (F σ-space), which is not of the first kind, is said to be of the second kind. In the present paper spaces which are both absoluteG δ andF σ-spaces of the second kind are constructed for any positive finite dimension, a problem related to one of A. Lelek in [11] is solved, and a sufficient condition onX is given under which dim [X* −f(X)]≧k, for any metric compactification (f,X*) ofX, wherek≦dimX is a given number. The adjoint of aC 0-semigroup on a Banach spaceX induces a locally convex σ(X,X )-topology inX, which is weaker than the weak topology ofX. In this paper we study the relation between these two topologies. Among other things a class of subsets ofX is given on which they coincide. As an application, an Eberlein-Shmulyan type theorem is proved for the σ(X,X )-topology and it is shown that the uniform limit of σ(X,X )-compact operators is σ(X,X )-compact. Finally our results are applied to the problem when the Favard class of a semigroup equals the domain of the infinitesimal generator.  相似文献

We analyze the structure of a continuous (or Borel) action of a connected semi-simple Lie group G with finite center and real rank at least 2 on a compact metric (or Borel) space X, using the existence of a stationary measure as the basic tool. The main result has the following corollary: Let P be a minimal parabolic subgroup of G, and K a maximal compact subgroup. Let λ be a P-invariant probability measure on X, and assume the P-action on (X,λ) is mixing. Then either λ is invariant under G, or there exists a proper parabolic subgroup QG, and a measurable G-equivariant factor map ϕ:(X,ν)→(G/Q,m), where ν=∫ K kλdk and m is the K-invariant measure on G/Q. Furthermore, The extension has relatively G-invariant measure, namely (X,ν) is induced from a (mixing) probability measure preserving action of Q. The asymptotic behavior as α→0 of the function f(α)=P(0<Λα(Xα)<R) is studied, where R>0, Xα is a strictly stable random vector with exponent α and values in a Banach spaceB, and Λ is a non-negative measurable homogeneous functional onB. A projectionP on a Banach spaceX with ‖P‖≤λ0 is called almost locally minimal if, for every α>0 small enough, the ballB(P,α) in the space of operatorsL(X) does not contain a projectionQ with ‖Q‖≤‖P‖(1–Dα2), whereD=D0) is a constant independent of ‖P‖. It is shown that, for everyp≥1 and every compact abelian groupG, every translation invariant projection onL p(G) is almost locally minimal. Orthogonal projections on ℓ 1 n are investigated with respect to some weaker local minimality properties. LetG be a locally compact second countable abelian group, (X, μ) aσ-finite Lebesgue space, and (g, x) →gx a non-singular, properly ergodic action ofG on (X, μ). Let furthermore Γ be the character group ofG and let Sp(G, X) ⊂ Γ denote theL -spectrum ofG on (X, μ). It has been shown in [5] that Sp(G, X) is a Borel subgroup of Γ and thatσ (Sp(G, X))<1 for every probability measureσ on Γ with lim supg→∞Re (g)<1, where is the Fourier transform ofσ. In this note we prove the following converse: ifσ is a probability measure on Γ with lim supg→∞Re (g)<1 (g)=1 then there exists a non-singular, properly ergodic action ofG on (X, μ) withσ(Sp(G, X))=1.  相似文献

We define and study a class of summable processes, called additive summable processes, that is larger than the class used by Dinculeanu and Brooks [D-B]. We relax the definition of a summable processesX:Ω×ℝ+EL(F, G) by asking for the associated measureI X to have just an additive extension to the predictableσ-algebra ℘, such that each of the measures (I X) z , forz∈(L G p )*, beingσ-additive, rather than having aσ-additive extension. We define a stochastic integral with respect to such a process and we prove several properties of the integral. After that we show that this class of summable processes contains all processesX:Ω×ℝ+EL(F, G) with integrable semivariation ifc 0G.  相似文献

Idealization of a decomposition theorem   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0
In 1986, Tong [13] proved that a function f : (X,τ)→(Y,φ) is continuous if and only if it is α-continuous and A-continuous. We extend this decomposition of continuity in terms of ideals. First, we introduce the notions of regular-I-closed sets, A I-sets and A I -continuous functions in ideal topological spaces and investigate their properties. Then, we show that a function f : (X,τ,I)→(Y, φ) is continuous if and only if it is α-I-continuous and A I-continuous. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

We say that the action extension problem is solvable for a bicompact groupG if for any metricG-space and for any topological embeddingc of the orbit spaceX into a metric spaceY there exist aG-space ℤ, an invariant topological embeddingb: → ℤ, and a homeomorphismh: Y → Z such that the diagram is commutative. We prove the following theorem: for a bicompact zero-dimensional groupG, the action extension problem is solvable for the class of dense topological embeddings. For any Banach spaceX there is a norm |||·||| onX, equivalent to the original one, such that (X, |||·|||) has only trivial isometries. For any groupG there is a Banach spaceX such that the group of isometries ofX is isomorphic toG × {− 1, 1}. For any countable groupG there is a norm ‖ · ‖ G onC([0, 1]) equivalent to the original one such that the group of isometries of (C([0, 1]), ‖ · ‖ G ) is isomorphic toG × {−1, + 1}.  相似文献

We prove that if X is a separable Banach space, then a measurable multifunction Γ : [0, 1] → ck(X) is Henstock integrable if and only if Γ can be represented as Γ = G + f, where G : [0, 1] → ck(X) is McShane integrable and f is a Henstock integrable selection of Γ.  相似文献

LetT be a nonexpansive mapping on a normed linear spaceX. We show that there exists a linear functional.f, ‖f‖=1, such that, for allxX, limn→x f(T n x/n)=limn→xT n x/n ‖=α, where α≡inf y∈c Ty-y‖. This means, ifX is reflexive, that there is a faceF of the ball of radius α to whichT n x/n converges weakly for allx (infz∈f g(T n x/n-z)→0, for every linear functionalg); ifX is strictly conves as well as reflexive, the convergence is to a point; and ifX satisfies the stronger condition that its dual has Fréchet differentiable norm then the convergence is strong. Furthermore, we show that each of the foregoing conditions on X is satisfied if and only if the associated convergence property holds for all nonexpansiveT. Let G be a graph of order n with connectivity κ≥3 and let α be the independence number of G. Set σ4(G)= min{∑4 i =1 d(x i ):{x 1,x 2,x 3,x 4} is an independent set of G}. In this paper, we will prove that if σ4(G)≥n+2κ, then there exists a longest cycle C of G such that V(GC) is an independent set of G. Furthermore, if the minimum degree of G is at least α, then G is hamiltonian. Received: July 31, 1998?Final version received: October 4, 2000  相似文献

For any complex Banach spaceX, letJ denote the duality mapping ofX. For any unit vectorx inX and any (C 0) contraction semigroup (T t ) t>0 onX, Baillon and Guerre-Delabriere proved that ifX is a smooth reflexive Banach space and if there isx *J(x) such that ÷〈(T(t)x, J(x)〈÷→1 ast→∞, then there is a unit vectoryX which is an eigenvector of the generatorA of (T t ) t>0 associated with a purely imaginary eigenvalue. They asked whether this result is still true ifX is replaced byc 0. In this article, we show the answer is negative Partial results of this paper were obtained when the author attended the International Conference of Convexity at the University of Marne-La-Vallée. If T is a (commutative unital) ring extension of a ring R, then Λ(T /R) is defined to be the supremum of the lengths of chains of intermediate fields between R P /P R P and T Q /QT Q , where Q varies over Spec(T) and P:= QR. The invariant σ(R):= sup Λ(T/R), where T varies over all the overrings of R. It is proved that if Λ(S/R)< ∞ for all rings S between R and T, then (R, T) is an INC-pair; and that if (R, T) is an INC-pair such that T is a finite-type R-algebra, then Λ(T/R)< ∞. Consequently, if R is a domain with σ(R) < ∞, then the integral closure of R is a Prüfer domain; and if R is a Noetherian G-domain, then σ(R) < ∞, with examples showing that σ(R) can be any given non-negative integer. Other examples include that of a onedimensional Noetherian locally pseudo-valuation domain R with σ(R)=∞.  相似文献
