In this article, we propose a two‐level finite element method to analyze the approximate solutions of the stationary Navier‐Stokes equations based on a stabilized local projection. The local projection allows to circumvent the Babuska‐Brezzi condition by using equal‐order finite element pairs. The local projection can be used to stabilize high equal‐order finite element pairs. The proposed method combines the local projection stabilization method and the two‐level method under the assumption of the uniqueness condition. The two‐level method consists of solving a nonlinear equation on the coarse mesh and solving a linear equation on fine mesh. The nonlinear equation is solved by the one‐step Newtonian iteration method. In the rest of this article, we show the error analysis of the lowest equal‐order finite element pair and provide convergence rate of approximate solutions. Furthermore, the numerical illustrations coincide with the theoretical analysis expectations. From the view of computational time, the results show that the two‐level method is effective to solve the stationary Navier‐Stokes equations. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This article proposes and analyzes a multilevel stabilized finite volume method(FVM) for the three‐dimensional stationary Navier–Stokes equations approximated by the lowest equal‐order finite element pairs. The method combines the new stabilized FVM with the multilevel discretization under the assumption of the uniqueness condition. The multilevel stabilized FVM consists of solving the nonlinear problem on the coarsest mesh and then performs one Newton correction step on each subsequent mesh thus only solving one large linear systems. The error analysis shows that the multilevel‐stabilized FVM provides an approximate solution with the convergence rate of the same order as the usual stabilized finite element solution solving the stationary Navier–Stokes equations on a fine mesh for an appropriate choice of mesh widths: hjhj‐12, j = 1,…,J. Therefore, the multilevel stabilized FVM is more efficient than the standard one‐level‐stabilized FVM. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq, 2013  相似文献

Two‐level penalty finite volume method for the stationary Navier–Stokes equations based on the P1 ? P0 element is considered in this paper. The method involves solving one small penalty Navier–Stokes problem on a coarse mesh with mesh size H = ?1 / 4h1 / 2, a large penalty Stokes problem on a fine mesh with mesh size h, where 0 < ? < 1 is a penalty parameter. The method we study provides an approximate solution with the convergence rate of same order as the penalty finite volume solution (u?h,p?h), which involves solving one large penalty Navier–Stokes problem on a fine mesh with the same mesh size h. However, our method can save a large amount of computational time. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this article we consider the stationary Navier‐Stokes system discretized by finite element methods which do not satisfy the inf‐sup condition. These discretizations typically take the form of a variational problem with stabilization terms. Such a problem may be transformed by iteration methods into a sequence of linear, Oseen‐type variational problems. On the algebraic level, these problems belong to a certain class of linear systems with nonsymmetric system matrices (“generalized saddle point problems”). We show that if the underlying finite element spaces satisfy a generalized inf‐sup condition, these problems have a unique solution. Moreover, we introduce a block triangular preconditioner and we show how the eigenvalue bounds of the preconditioned system matrix depend on the coercivity constant and continuity bounds of the bilinear forms arising in the variational problem. Finally we prove that the stabilized P1‐P1 finite element method proposed by Rebollo is covered by our theory and we show that the condition number of the preconditioned system matrix is independent of the mesh size. Numerical tests with 3D stationary Navier‐Stokes flows confirm our results. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 2006  相似文献

This article focuses on discontinuous Galerkin method for the two‐ or three‐dimensional stationary incompressible Navier‐Stokes equations. The velocity field is approximated by discontinuous locally solenoidal finite element, and the pressure is approximated by the standard conforming finite element. Then, superconvergence of nonconforming finite element approximations is applied by using least‐squares surface fitting for the stationary Navier‐Stokes equations. The method ameliorates the two noticeable disadvantages about the given finite element pair. Finally, the superconvergence result is provided under some regular assumptions. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 23: 421–436, 2007  相似文献

A combination method of the Newton iteration and two‐level finite element algorithm is applied for solving numerically the steady Navier‐Stokes equations under the strong uniqueness condition. This algorithm is motivated by applying the m Newton iterations for solving the Navier‐Stokes problem on a coarse grid and computing the Stokes problem on a fine grid. Then, the uniform stability and convergence with respect to ν of the two‐level Newton iterative solution are analyzed for the large m and small H and h << H. Finally, some numerical tests are made to demonstrate the effectiveness of the method. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq, 2012  相似文献

This paper proposes and analyzes a stabilized multi-level finite volume method (FVM) for solving the stationary 3D Navier?CStokes equations by using the lowest equal-order finite element pair without relying on any solution uniqueness condition. This multi-level stabilized FVM consists of solving the nonlinear problem on the coarsest mesh and then performing one Newton correction step on each subsequent mesh, thus only solving a large linear system. An optimal convergence rate for the finite volume approximations of nonsingular solutions is first obtained with the same order as that for the usual finite element solution by using a relationship between the stabilized FVM and a stabilized finite element method. Then the multi-level finite volume approximate solution is shown to have a convergence rate of the same order as that of the stabilized finite volume solution of the stationary Navier?CStokes equations on a fine mesh with an appropriate choice of the mesh size: ${ h_{j} ~ h_{j-1}^{2}, j = 1,\ldots, J}$ . Finally, numerical results presented validate our theoretical findings.  相似文献

This paper utilizes the Picard method and Newton's method to linearize the stationary incompressible Navier–Stokes equations and then uses an LL* approach, which is a least-squares finite element method applied to the dual problem of the corresponding linear system. The LL* approach provides an L2-approximation to a given problem, which is not typically available with conventional finite element methods for nonlinear second-order partial differential equations. We first show that the proposed combination of linearization scheme and LL* approach provides an L2-approximation to the stationary incompressible Navier–Stokes equations. The validity of L2-approximation is proven through the analysis of the weak problem corresponding to the linearized Navier–Stokes equations. Then, the convergence is analyzed, and numerical results are presented.  相似文献

Based on two‐grid discretizations, a two‐parameter stabilized finite element method for the steady incompressible Navier–Stokes equations at high Reynolds numbers is presented and studied. In this method, a stabilized Navier–Stokes problem is first solved on a coarse grid, and then a correction is calculated on a fine grid by solving a stabilized linear problem. The stabilization term for the nonlinear Navier–Stokes equations on the coarse grid is based on an elliptic projection, which projects higher‐order finite element interpolants of the velocity into a lower‐order finite element interpolation space. For the linear problem on the fine grid, either the same stabilization approach (with a different stabilization parameter) as that for the coarse grid problem or a completely different stabilization approach could be employed. Error bounds for the discrete solutions are estimated. Algorithmic parameter scalings of the method are also derived. The theoretical results show that, with suitable scalings of the algorithmic parameters, this method can yield an optimal convergence rate. Numerical results are provided to verify the theoretical predictions and demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This article first recalls the results of a stabilized finite element method based on a local Gauss integration method for the stationary Stokes equations approximated by low equal‐order elements that do not satisfy the inf‐sup condition. Then, we derive general superconvergence results for this stabilized method by using a local coarse mesh L2 projection. These supervergence results have three prominent features. First, they are based on a multiscale method defined for any quasi‐uniform mesh. Second, they are derived on the basis of a large sparse, symmetric positive‐definite system of linear equations for the solution of the stationary Stokes problem. Third, the finite elements used fail to satisfy the inf‐sup condition. This article combines the merits of the new stabilized method with that of the L2 projection method. This projection method is of practical importance in scientific computation. Finally, a series of numerical experiments are presented to check the theoretical results obtained. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq, 28: 115‐126, 2012  相似文献

A multilevel finite element method in space‐time for the two‐dimensional nonstationary Navier‐Stokes problem is considered. The method is a multi‐scale method in which the fully nonlinear Navier‐Stokes problem is only solved on a single coarsest space‐time mesh; subsequent approximations are generated on a succession of refined space‐time meshes by solving a linearized Navier‐Stokes problem about the solution on the previous level. The a priori estimates and error analysis are also presented for the J‐level finite element method. We demonstrate theoretically that for an appropriate choice of space and time mesh widths: hjh, kjk, j = 2, …, J, the J‐level finite element method in space‐time provides the same accuracy as the one‐level method in space‐time in which the fully nonlinear Navier‐Stokes problem is solved on a final finest space‐time mesh. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Three penalty finite element methods are designed to solve numerically the steady Navier–Stokes equations, where the Stokes, Newton, and Oseen iteration methods are used, respectively. Moreover, the stability analysis and error estimate for these nine algorithms are provided. Finally, the numerical tests confirm the theoretical results of the presented algorithms. Meanwhile, the numerical investigations are provided to show that the proposed methods are efficient for solving the steady Navier–Stokes equations with the different viscosity. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We propose and analyze a two‐level method of discretizing the nonlinear Navier‐Stokes equations with slip boundary condition. The slip boundary condition is appropriate for problems that involve free boundaries, flows past chemically reacting walls, and other examples where the usual no‐slip condition u = 0 is not valid. The two‐level algorithm consists of solving a small nonlinear system of equations on the coarse mesh and then using that solution to solve a larger linear system on the fine mesh. The two‐level method exploits the quadratic nonlinearity in the Navier‐Stokes equations. Our error estimates show that it has optimal order accuracy, provided that the best approximation to the true solution in the velocity and pressure spaces is bounded above by the data. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. This work combines two complementary strategies for solving the steady incompressible Navier–Stokes model with a zeroth‐order term, namely, a stabilized finite element method and a mesh–refinement approach based on an error estimator. First, equal order interpolation spaces are adopted to approximate both the velocity and the pressure while stability is recovered within the stabilization approach. Also designed to handle advection dominated flows under zeroth‐order term influence, the stabilized method incorporates a new parameter with a threefold asymptotic behavior. Mesh adaptivity driven by a new hierarchical error estimator and built on the stabilized method is the second ingredient. The estimator construction process circumvents the saturation assumption by using an enhancing space strategy which is shown to be equivalent to the error. Several numerical tests validate the methodology. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq, 2011  相似文献

In this article, we give some numerical techniques and error estimates using web‐spline based mesh‐free finite element method for the heat equation and the time‐dependent Navier–Stokes equations on bounded domains. The web‐spline method uses weighted extended B‐splines on a regular grid as basis functions and does not require any grid generation. We demonstrate the method by providing numerical results for the Poisson's and stationary Stokes equation. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq, 2013  相似文献

Iterative methods of Krylov‐subspace type can be very effective solvers for matrix systems resulting from partial differential equations if appropriate preconditioning is employed. We describe and test block preconditioners based on a Schur complement approximation which uses a multigrid method for finite element approximations of the linearized incompressible Navier‐Stokes equations in streamfunction and vorticity formulation. By using a Picard iteration, we use this technology to solve fully nonlinear Navier‐Stokes problems. The solvers which result scale very well with problem parameters. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
