The object of this paper is to present the numerical solution of the time‐space fractional telegraph equation. The proposed method is based on the finite difference scheme in temporal direction and Fourier spectral method in spatial direction. The fast Fourier transform (FFT) technique is applied to practical computation. The stability and convergence analysis are strictly proven, which shows that this method is stable and convergent with (2?α) order accuracy in time and spectral accuracy in space. Moreover, the Levenberg‐Marquardt (L‐M) iterative method is employed for the parameter estimation. Finally, some numerical examples are given to confirm the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a space‐time spectral method for solving a class of time fractional convection diffusion equations. Because both fractional derivative and spectral method have global characteristics in bounded domains, we propose a space‐time spectral‐Galerkin method. The convergence result of the method is proved by providing a priori error estimate. Numerical results further confirm the expected convergence rate and illustrate the versatility of our method. In this paper, time‐splitting spectral approximation technique has been proposed for Chen‐Lee‐Liu (CLL) equation involving Riesz fractional derivative. The proposed numerical technique is efficient, unconditionally stable, and of second‐order accuracy in time and of spectral accuracy in space. Moreover, it conserves the total density in the discretized level. In order to examine the results, with the aid of weighted shifted Grünwald‐Letnikov formula for approximating Riesz fractional derivative, Crank‐Nicolson weighted and shifted Grünwald difference (CN‐WSGD) method has been applied for Riesz fractional CLL equation. The comparison of results reveals that the proposed time‐splitting spectral method is very effective and simple for obtaining single soliton numerical solution of Riesz fractional CLL equation.  相似文献

In this article, we introduce a new space‐time spectral collocation method for solving the one‐dimensional sine‐Gordon equation. We apply a spectral collocation method for discretizing spatial derivatives, and then use the spectral collocation method for the time integration of the resulting nonlinear second‐order system of ordinary differential equations (ODE). Our formulation has high‐order accurate in both space and time. Optimal a priori error bounds are derived in the L2‐norm for the semidiscrete formulation. Numerical experiments show that our formulation have exponential rates of convergence in both space and time. © 2014 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this paper, a second‐order fast explicit operator splitting method is proposed to solve the mass‐conserving Allen–Cahn equation with a space–time‐dependent Lagrange multiplier. The space–time‐dependent Lagrange multiplier can preserve the volume of the system and keep small features. Moreover, we analyze the discrete maximum principle and the convergence rate of the fast explicit operator splitting method. The proposed numerical scheme is of spectral accuracy in space and of second‐order accuracy in time, which greatly improves the computational efficiency. Numerical experiments are presented to confirm the accuracy, efficiency, mass conservation, and stability of the proposed method. Copyright © 2017 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper, a high‐order accurate numerical method for two‐dimensional semilinear parabolic equations is presented. We apply a Galerkin–Legendre spectral method for discretizing spatial derivatives and a spectral collocation method for the time integration of the resulting nonlinear system of ordinary differential equations. Our formulation can be made arbitrarily high‐order accurate in both space and time. Optimal a priori error bound is derived in the L2‐norm for the semidiscrete formulation. Extensive numerical results are presented to demonstrate the convergence property of the method, show our formulation have spectrally accurate in both space and time. In this paper, we study the numerical solution to time‐fractional partial differential equations with variable coefficients that involve temporal Caputo derivative. A spectral method based on Gegenbauer polynomials is taken for approximating the solution of the given time‐fractional partial differential equation in time and a collocation method in space. The suggested method reduces this type of equation to the solution of a linear algebraic system. Finally, some numerical examples are presented to illustrate the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed method. Copyright © 2014 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this article, we study an explicit scheme for the solution of sine‐Gordon equation when the space discretization is carried out by an overlapping multidomain pseudo‐spectral technique. By using differentiation matrices, the equation is reduced to a nonlinear system of ordinary differential equations in time that can be discretized with the explicit fourth‐order Runge–Kutta method. To achieve approximation with high accuracy in large domains, the number of space grid points must be large enough. This yields very large and full matrices in the pseudo‐spectral method that causes large memory requirements. The domain decomposition approach provides sparsity in the matrices obtained after the discretization, and this property reduces storage for large matrices and provides economical ways of performing matrix–vector multiplications. Therefore, we propose a multidomain pseudo‐spectral method for the numerical simulation of the sine‐Gordon equation in large domains. Test examples are given to demonstrate the accuracy and capability of the proposed method. Numerical experiments show that the multidomain scheme has an excellent long‐time numerical behavior for the sine‐Gordon equation in one and two dimensions. In this article we introduce a multilevel method in space and time for the approximation of a convection‐diffusion equation. The spatial discretization is of pseudo‐spectral Fourier type, while the time discretization relies on the characteristics method. The approximate solution is obtained as the sum of two components that are advanced in time using different time‐steps. In particular, this requires the introduction of two sets of discretized characteristics curves and of two interpolation operators. We investigate the stability of the scheme and derive some error estimates. They indicate that the high‐frequency term can be integrated with a larger time‐step. Numerical experiments illustrate the gain in computing time due to the multilevel strategy. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 16: 107–132, 2000  相似文献

In this paper, we establish a novel fractional model arising in the chemical reaction and develop an efficient spectral method for the three-dimensional Riesz-like space fractional nonlinear coupled reaction-diffusion equations. Based on the backward difference method for time stepping and the Legendre-Galerkin spectral method for space discretization, we construct a fully discrete numerical scheme which leads to a linear algebraic system. Then a direct method based on the matrix diagonalization approach is proposed to solve the linear algebraic system, where the cost of the algorithm is of a small multiple of $N^4$ ($N$ is the polynomial degree in each spatial coordinate) flops for each time level. In addition, the stability and convergence analysis are rigorously established. We obtain the optimal error estimate in space, and the results also show that the fully discrete scheme is unconditionally stable and convergent of order one in time. Furthermore, numerical experiments are presented to confirm the theoretical claims. As the applications of the proposed method, the fractional Gray-Scott model is solved to capture the pattern formation with an analysis of the properties of the fractional powers.  相似文献

In this article, a Crank‐Nicolson‐type finite difference scheme for the two‐dimensional Burgers' system is presented. The existence of the difference solution is shown by Brouwer fixed‐point theorem. The uniqueness of the difference solution and the stability and L2 convergence of the difference scheme are proved by energy method. An iterative algorithm for the difference scheme is given in detail. Furthermore, a linear predictor–corrector method is presented. The numerical results show that the predictor–corrector method is also convergent with the convergence order of two in both time and space. At last, some comments are provided for the backward Euler scheme. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq, 2009  相似文献

A new BDF‐type scheme is proposed for the numerical integration of the system of ordinary differential equations that arises in the Method of Lines solution of time‐dependent partial differential equations. This system is usually stiff, so it is desirable for the numerical method to solve it to have good properties concerning stability. The method proposed in this article is almost L‐stable and of algebraic order three. Numerical experiments illustrate the performance of the new method on different stiff systems of ODEs after discretizing in the space variable some PDE problems. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The spectral method of G. N. Elnagar, which yields spectral convergence rate for the approximate solutions of Fredholm and Volterra–Hammerstein integral equations, is generalized in order to solve the larger class of integro‐differential functional operator equations with spectral accuracy. In order to obtain spectrally accurate solutions, the grids on which the above class of problems is to be solved must also be obtained by spectrally accurate techniques. The proposed method is based on the idea of relating, spectrally constructed, grid points to the structure of projection operators which will be used to approximate the control vector and the associated state vector. These projection operators are spectrally constructed using Chebyshev–Gauss–Lobatto grid points as the collocation points, and Lagrange polynomials as trial functions. Simulation studies demonstrate computational advantages relative to other methods in the literature. Copyright © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A high‐accuracy numerical approach for a nonhomogeneous time‐fractional diffusion equation with Neumann and Dirichlet boundary conditions is described in this paper. The time‐fractional derivative is described in the sense of Riemann‐Liouville and discretized by the backward Euler scheme. A fourth‐order optimal cubic B‐spline collocation (OCBSC) method is used to discretize the space variable. The stability analysis with respect to time discretization is carried out, and it is shown that the method is unconditionally stable. Convergence analysis of the method is performed. Two numerical examples are considered to demonstrate the performance of the method and validate the theoretical results. It is shown that the proposed method is of order Ox4 + Δt2 ? α) convergence, where α ∈ (0,1) . Moreover, the impact of fractional‐order derivative on the solution profile is investigated. Numerical results obtained by the present method are compared with those obtained by the method based on standard cubic B‐spline collocation method. The CPU time for present numerical method and the method based on cubic B‐spline collocation method are provided.  相似文献

We solve numerically the Kirchhoff‐Love dynamic plate equation for an anisotropic heterogeneous material using a spectral method. A mixed velocity‐moment formulation is proposed for the space approximation allowing the use of classical Lagrange finite elements. The benefit of using high order elements is shown through a numerical dispersion analysis. The system resulting from this spatial discretization is solved analytically. Hence this method is particularly efficient for long duration experiments. This time evolution method is compared with explicit and implicit finite differences schemes in terms of accuracy and computation time. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Finite difference scheme to the generalized one‐dimensional sine‐Gordon equation is considered in this paper. After approximating the second order derivative in the space variable by the compact finite difference, we transform the sine‐Gordon equation into an initial‐value problem of a second‐order ordinary differential equation. Then Padé approximant is used to approximate the time derivatives. The resulting fully discrete nonlinear finite‐difference equation is solved by a predictor‐corrector scheme. Both Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions are considered in our proposed algorithm. Stability analysis and error estimate are given for homogeneous Dirichlet boundary value problems using energy method. Numerical results are given to verify the condition for stability and convergence and to examine the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed algorithm. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this article, two finite difference schemes for solving the semilinear wave equation are proposed. The unique solvability and the stability are discussed. The second‐order accuracy convergence in both time and space in the discrete H1‐norm for the two proposed difference schemes is proved. In the paper, we first propose a Crank-Nicolson Galerkin-Legendre (CN-GL) spectral scheme for the one-dimensional nonlinear space fractional Schrödinger equation. Convergence with spectral accuracy is proved for the spectral approximation. Further, a Crank-Nicolson ADI Galerkin-Legendre spectral method for the two-dimensional nonlinear space fractional Schrödinger equation is developed. The proposed schemes are shown to be efficient with second-order accuracy in time and spectral accuracy in space which are higher than some recently studied methods. Moreover, some numerical results are demonstrated to justify the theoretical analysis.  相似文献
