In this study, first, it will be shown that as the Hubble parameter, “H”, increases the production cross section for closed and flat Universes increases rapidly at smaller values of “H” and becomes constant for higher values of “H”. However in the case of open Universe, the production cross section has been encountered a singularity. Before this singularity, as the H parameter increases, the cross section increases, for smaller H, (H < 2.5), exhibits a turn-over at moderate values of H, (2.5 < H < 3.5), decreases for larger amount of H After that and for a special value of H, the cross section has been encountered with a singularity. Although the cross section cannot be defined at this singularity but before and after this point, it is certainly equal to zero. After this singularity, the cross section increases rapidly, when H increases. It is shown that if the production cross section of Universe happens before this singularity, it can’t achieve to higher values of Hubble parameter after singularity. More over if the production cross section of Universe situates after the singularity, it won’t get access to values of Hubble parameter less than the singularity. After that the thermal distribution for particles inside the FRW Universes are obtained. It is found that a large amount of particles are produced near apparent horizon due to their variety in their energy and their probabilities. Finally, comparing the particle production cross sections for flat, closed and open Universes, it is concluded that as the value of k increases, the cross section decreases.  相似文献

The production of Drell-Yan pairs at large transverse momentum is calculated up to O(αs2) for a non-singlet combination defined as the cross section for an incident particle minus the analogous cross section for an incident antiparticle. We have searched for an almost stable, charged particle produced in 400 GeV proton-nucleus collisions. A total of 5 × 1010 light secondary particles were sampled in a secondary beam of 70 GeV/c momentum. If a 4.5 to 6.0 GeV mass particle is produced with a cross section comparable with the production cross section of the upsilon then this experiment places an upper limit on the lifetime of such a particle of about 5 × 10?8 s.  相似文献

The pionization region of the inclusive single-particle spectrum is accounted for by double pomeron exchange in the absorptive part of a six-point amplitude. In this paper a multiperipheral model for the six-point amplitude with double pomeron exchange is used for continuation by crossing and analyticity to the physical region of the exclusive two particle → four particle production process. The cross section for π? p → π?(π+π?)p in the double-Regge region is then calculated and compared with the experimental analysis of Lipes, Zweig and Robertson which sets an upper bound to the strength of the double pomeron exchange coupling. This upper bound, coupled with the model for continuation to the inclusive cross section, is shown to give too small a magnitude for the double pomeron exchange in the pionization region. Further avenues for investigation are discussed.  相似文献

We present a thermodynamical quark model which can predict cross sections for particle production in hadronic interactions at high energies. In this model a hadronic collision gives rise to a soup of quarks and antiquarks at some temperature kT ? 170 MeV. Results for inclusive meson production cross sections look promising in comparison with experiments. We give a formula for the inclusive cross section.  相似文献

It is shown that data of the BELLE Collaboration on the exclusive production of charmedmeson pairs via the one-photon mechanism of e+e? annihilation can be adequately described within the constituent quark model. It is also shown that the cross section for the central production of two D mesons in the process \(e^ + e^ - \to e^ + e^ - \gamma \gamma \to e^ + e^ - D\bar D + X\) is commensurate with the cross section for their production in one-photon annihilation.  相似文献

The antikaon production cross section from nucleon-nucleon reactions near threshold is studied in a meson exchange model. We include both pion and kaon exchange, but neglect the interference between the amplitudes. In case of pion exchange the antikaon production cross section can be expressed in terms of the antikaon production cross section from a pion-nucleon interaction, which we take from the experimental data if available. Otherwise, a K* -resonance exchange model is introduced to relate the different reaction cross sections. In case of kaon exchange the antikaon production cross section is related to the elastic KN and K?N cross sections, which are again taken from experimental measurements. We find that the one-meson exchange model gives a satisfactory fit to the available data for the NN → NN KK? cross section at high energies. We compare our predictions for the cross section near threshold with an earlier empirical parameterization and that from phase space models.  相似文献

The absorption of the secondary hadrons in nuclear matter is studied as a function of their flavour dependent inelastic cross section on nucleons. In particular the ratiosK ++ andK ?? of particles produced in the proton-nucleus high energy interactions are examined and described in the very simple phenomenological model. The enhanced production ofK + mesons is explained by their relatively small interaction. The presence of the initial particle absorption is clearly demonstrated forx F>0.5.  相似文献

Measured J/ψ production cross sections for 200 and 450 GeV/c protons incident on a variety of nuclear targets are analyzed within a Glauber framework which takes into account energy loss of the beam proton, the time delay of particle production due to quantum coherence, and absorption of the J/ψ on nucleons. The best representation is obtained for a coherence time of 0.5 fm/c, previously determined by Drell–Yan production in proton-nucleus collisions, and an absorption cross section of 3.6 mb, which is consistent with the value deduced from photoproduction of the J/ψ on nuclear targets.  相似文献

Upper bounds which follow from unitarity are derived for the angular distribution of the detected particle C in the inclusive process ABC + anything at a finite energy, in terms of the corresponding elastic amplitudes (a) for a fixed value of the forward inelastic cross section and (b) for a fixed value of the total inelastic cross section for the production of C. In comparison with the ppp + anything data at 24 GeV/c, some improvement on previous bounds is observed.  相似文献

A more realistic estimation of the scattering and hemispheric backscattering coefficients, σsp and σbsp, and their respective optical cross section, Csca and Cbk, of aerosol particles is presented on the basis of the exact resolution of the width of the size bins of the particle counter instruments when size distribution measurements are used, and, with the exact optical detector instruments ability. The scattering and hemispheric backscattering cross sections, Csca and Cbk, of the particles are averaged over the full size bins of the particle counter instrument, while these quantities are usually estimated only on the value of the mean geometric diameter of each size bin. Six instruments, the APS, ASASP-X, DMPS, FSSP-100, ELPI, and SMPS frequently used in particle size distribution measurements are reviewed, for spherical sea-salt particles at a wavelength λ=0.55 μm. The comparison using the conventional geometric mean diameter versus the use of the full size bin leads to large amount of errors for the optical cross section with non-negligible effects on their respective optical coefficients. The maximal accuracy expected for these optical quantities depend on the particle diameter as well as on the channel width of the instruments, and are also function of the angular detector probe used to measure them.  相似文献

The Durgapur cosmic ray spectrograph has been utilised to study the electromagnetic interaction of cosmic ray muons in iron in the momentum range 5–100 GeV/c. The dependence of the interaction cross section on the charge of the muons for the production of a single electron secondary due to the knock-on process and for two and more two electrons due to both knock-on and pair production has been investigated.The ratio of the interaction cross section for positive muons to that for negative muons in the magnetic-iron has been found to be 0.952 ± 0.045 for the production of one secondary particle. For production of two and more than two secondaries the ratios are 1.05 ± 0.09 and 0.91 ± 0.08 respectively. The present results do not indicate any charge asymmetry of cosmic ray muons in respect of electromagnetic interactions in iron.  相似文献

The cross section for vector leptoquark production in electron–gluon collisions is calculated analytically using the Lagrangian with the minimal couplings between the leptoquarks and the gauge fields of the standard model. It is found that the cross section significantly exceeds the corresponding quantity previously presented in the literature. The cross section of exclusive W boson production in neutrino–photon scattering emerges as a by-product of this Letter. The obtained results can be used for studies at ep colliders.  相似文献

The e/π ratios at low pT observed in pp collisions at √s = 53 GeV are analysed as a function of R, the ratio of the total number of electrons integrated over electron energies to the total number of pions integrated over pion energies. It is found that R is independent of the decay kinematics and very insensitive to the production dynamics of the parent particles. The total parent cross section times the branching ratio into an electron is calculated, and the result is interpreted as either the total inclusive cross section for production of charmed particles, or as the total cross section for single photons in pp collisions.  相似文献

The inclusive proton diffraction dissociation cross sections in 16, 32, and 110 GeV/cK ? p interactions are determined from the spike nearx=1 in the inclusive negative particle spectra and are compared to those obtained inK?p interactions using other selection methods at various energies. The same procedure is applied to events containing aV 0 in order to obtain the cross section for diffractive \(s\bar s\) production. While the total cross section for proton diffraction is found to be approximately constant in the energy range studied here, proton diffraction yielding an \(s\bar s - pair\) is found to increase significantly. In particular it is almost constant at 85 μb forΛ 0 and Σ production but for \(NK\bar K\) it rises from zero at 16 GeV.c to about 200 μb at 110 GeV/c. From the result for \(s\bar s\) diffractive production an estimate for the \(c\bar c\) diffractive production cross section of approximately 1–10 μb at 110 GeV/c is obtained.  相似文献

The contribution of single diffraction dissociation to highp T particle production has been determined with the split field magnet detector. For transverse momentap T >2 GeV/c and production angles θ>10° it is found to be less than 5% for all types of trigger particles. Specifically, a diffractive origin of the large production cross section for highp T protons can be excluded. The contributions found to highp T production are found to be in good agreement with extrapolations of the relative particle yields from single diffraction dissociation observed in inelastic minimum bias events.  相似文献

Results on inclusive particle production in π? n interactions at 21, 205 and 360 GeV/c are presented. The invariant cross sections in both neutron fragmentation and central regions are found to be equal within errors to the corresponding cross sections for π? p collisions and exhibit the same energy dependence. A strong energy dependence of the invariant cross section ratios of negative and positive pions is observed. There is also an indication of transverse momentum dependence of these ratios. The η? correlations in the neutron fragmentation region show little variation with energy and are in agreement with the predictions of the naive quark recombination scheme.  相似文献

We have found essential QCD diagrams for the leading particle production in the high energy processes. The high momentum component of the deuteron (nucleus) wave function is estimated in terms of perturbative QCD. Reasonable agreement of the formulae obtained with the observed cross section of the deep inelastic reaction e + D → e + X at x > 1, and the observed momentum dependence of the high energy reactions h + A → fast backward, p, π + X indicate that the nuclear core and cumulative particle production are actually QCD phenomena. The crucial importance of the deep inelastic 1A scattering at x > 1 for the investigation of the short range nuclear structure is explained.  相似文献

A simple relationship between the total scattering cross section and the normalizing constant of the scattering matrix for the general case of an arbitrary scattering particle and elliptically polarized incident radiation is obtained. The polarized radiation is described by the Stokes parameters I, Q, U, V. The obtained relationship is a consequence of two forms of energy conservation. The first one is in terms of the total scattering cross section. The other one involves the normalizing constant of the scattering matrix. The obtained relationship contains dimensionless integrals of the radiation scattered over all directions of scattering. The integrals depend on the elements of the first row of the scattering matrix and on the relative values of the Stokes parameters of the incident radiation. In the case of cross section, the incident radiation is assumed to be a plane wave. In the case of normalization constant, the incident radiation is assumed to be a convergent beam. The possible dependence of the scattering integrals on specificities of the particle illumination is taken into account in the obtained relationship. The relationship may be helpful in the various cases. So, the relationship allows one to determine any of the two characteristics of the scattering process under investigation, cross section or normalizing constant, via the other one. The relationship can be used for obtaining the scattering integrals and for analyzing the influence of the incident radiation polarization on cross section and normalizing constant.  相似文献

The production of heavy Dirac and Majorana neutrinos ine + e ? collisions is investigated. The heavy Dirac and/or Majorana neutrinos can be produced in charged and neutral current processes $(e^ + e^ - \to N_1 \bar N_2 )$ . The production of a single heavy neutrino is possible if it mixes with the light neutrino species. The production of heavy neutrinos in Higgs channels is also studied, since in some specific models the Yukawa couplings could be large enough to make the production of heavy neutrinos through Higgs boson exchanges sufficiently large for detection. The most general left-right symmetric model with possibly complexV orA couplings is used in the analytic calculations of the production cross sections, but the numerical examples are given using simplified left-right symmetric model. The interference terms between different production channels have been studied in great detail and in some cases the interference terms are found to be non-negligible in wide range of production spectrum. The pair production cross section is larger in the Dirac case than it is in the Majorana case, but the single heavy Majorana neutrino production cross section is roughly twice as large as that of a Dirac neutrino.  相似文献
