A Faraday cage apparatus is used for the measurement of the (00) LEED beam intensity, I(00), and the total secondary emission coefficient, δ(Ek), for angles of incidence from 0° ± 2° to 8° ± 2°, with an energy resolution of ± 0.037 of the incident beam energy, in the energy range 1 to 200 eV. The data are normalized and expressed as a fraction of the incident beam intensity. The basic principle of operation is the separation of the incident and specularly diffracted beams in a uniform magnetic field. Monolayer, or in-plane, resonances associated with the emergence of nonspecular beams, as well as beam threshold minima, are observed in I(00) at normal incidence from clean CdS(0001), Cu(111), and Ni(111). Some major differences are observed in the I(00) profiles for the clean (111) surfaces of nickel and copper. All secondary Bragg peaks, except the 223 order, have greater intensities for Ni(111) in the energy range 50–150 eV, thus indicating that the atomic scattering cross-section for electrons in this energy range is larger for nickel than for copper. For the (111) surface of nickel, the (11) resonance is missing, but the (10) resonance and all 13 order secondary Bragg peaks between the second and fifth orders are observed. For Cu(111) both the (10) and (11) resonances are observed, but the 13, 23, 123, and 313 order secondary Bragg peaks are missing in this energy range. These data indicate that multiple scattering with evanescent intermediate waves, or “shadowing”, is predominate on the (111) surfaces on nickel and copper for energies above 30 eV, and that below 30 eV multiple scattering with propagating intermediate waves is predominate on Cu(111). Correlation of the (00) beam intensity profiles from clean Ni(111) at 0°, 2°, and 6° with the intensity profiles of the (10). (1̄0), and (11) non-specular beams is nearly one-to-one from 30 eV to 100 eV, thus supporting the dynamical theories of LEED in which peaks in the (00) beam are expected to occur at nearly the same energies as peaks in the non-specular beams.  相似文献

The removal of a lead film from graphene by irradiating a target with a beam of xenon clusters at an incidence angle of 60° was studied by the molecular dynamics method. The complete purification of graphene was achieved at beam energies of 10 and 15 eV. Visual observation and the calculated density profiles and mobility components of the lead atoms indicate the predominantly collective nature of the separation of Pb from graphene in the course of bombardment. When a beam of clusters with an energy of 15 eV acts on the target, the detached film of lead takes a torch shape and has strong internal stresses. The graphene sheet acquires maximum roughness at a beam energy of 10 eV as a result of a large number of the direct hits of xenon clusters on its surface.  相似文献

为了实现校准能见度仪中标准散射体的快速准确定标,建立了用于校准能见度仪的标准散射体的定标系统.研究了定标系统中全景成像折反光学系统的设计方法.根据抛物面反射镜的光学特性推导出抛物面面型的计算方法.根据定标系统对光学系统的要求,完成全景成像色度计光学系统的设计.对全景成像折反光学系统进行建模仿真并设计实验验证光学系统的设计与仿真结果的正确性.实验结果表明:全景成像折反光学系统的空间检测俯仰角范围为0°~90°,方位角范围为0°~360°,且最小角分辨率为1°,与仿真结果基本一致,满足用于校准能见度仪的标准散射体定标系统中光学系统的设计要求.  相似文献

电子束与靶物质相互作用时的入射角测量是强流电子束热-力学效应研究中的难点问题. 提出了一种新的基于覆盖不同厚度衰减片微型法拉第筒阵列的电子束入射角测量方法, 与现有方法相比, 可获得具有时域特性和位置分布的强流电子束入射角分布. 以此方法进行了入射角二维分布(r, θ)测量实验, 结果表明, 电子束入射角二维分布与束流箍缩情况紧密相关. 如果箍缩不明显, 则电子主要在自身做回旋运动的同时沿着电力线运动, 多以垂直或者小角度(40°以下)轰击到阳极靶面; 如果箍缩明显, 受E×B漂移影响, 电子束入射角度会明显变大, 从40°以下增至60°左右.  相似文献

The backscattered electron spectra from graphite sample were studied both experimentally and theoretically at impact energies between 500 and 5000 eV. The angle of the incident electron beam was 50° and the detection angle was 0° with respect to the surface normal, respectively. Monte Carlo (MC) simulations were performed based on the Classical Transport Theory (CTT) model to mimic the experimental spectra. In our simulations, both elastic and inelastic scattering of primary electrons and secondary electron emission from graphite are taken into account. There is found satisfactory agreement between measured and calculated electron spectra.  相似文献

We have measured the relative intensity of the elastic peak, and of the surface and bulk plasmon loss peaks, for electrons backscattered from an Al(001) single crystal surface. The exciting beam has an energy between 100 and 2000 eV, and impiges on the surface in an high symmetry plane of incidence with a colatitude angle of incidence varying between 0° and 80°. In a first series of experiments called “angle integrated experiment”, all the backscattered electrons are collected in a 2π solid angle retarding field analyser as a function of the primary beam energy and colatitude angle of incidence. In a second series called “angle resolved experiment”, the acceptance angle of the detector is set at 10° or 12° and the variable parameters are colatitude angles of incidence and emission. We observe mainly that very clean aluminum exhibits large plasmon loss peaks with a negligible background. The results cannot be accounted for without sophisticated models, but “angular resolved experiments” are more suitable for a simple discussion than the “angle integrated experiment” and show mainly the phonon-plasmon coupling plus a θ dependent creation probability.  相似文献

The adsorption of ethylene oxide on Ni(110) was studied at 95 K and monolayer coverage by angle-resolved X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. A slow radiation-induced decomposition at hv = 1486.7 eV to most likely methoxy was noted. The orientation of the adsorbed ethylene oxide was determined by measuring forward scattering enhancements in the O 1s intensity distribution. Peaks in polar (θ) as well as azimuthal (φ) scans occurred at four angular positions in 2π above the surface: (θ = 54°, φ = 36°, 144°, 216°, 324°). These positions were evaluated to yield the tilt angle of the molecule at 48°_relative to normal, and the COC bond angle of adsorbed C2H4O of about 57°. The molecule is tilted towards the [001] and [001̄] directions (two domains), with a mirror plane in the [001] azimuth.  相似文献

The effect of Ne ion beam etching on the roughness of materials for optical substrates—fused silica and beryllium—is studied. It is shown that the treatment of a fused silica surface by neutralized Ne ions with an energy of 400–800 eV makes it possible to smooth roughnessed in the range of higher spatial frequencies of 3–63 μm–1 at an incidence angle of 0°–30°. For beryllium, the possibility of smoothing the surface roughness at an ion energy of 400 eV is found.  相似文献

In polarized low energy electron diffraction (PLEED) from W(100) at energies of 2 to 9 eV and incident angles 15°< θ < 45°, we observe a spin-splitting of the resonance sequence of peaks which converge on the (01) beam threshold. For θ>26° the peak splitting to peak width ratio is approximately constant while for decreasing θ≤26° it increases. An anomalous spin-up-only peak appears at small θ. The nature of the spin dependent splitting is discussed within the four-beam layer multiple scattering approximation.  相似文献

Elastic low energy electron diffraction (LEED) intensity-energy (I-E) measurements for clean (001), (110), and (111) nickel surfaces were obtained at room temperature. Surface composition was monitored by Auger spectroscopy. I-E data from 15 to 220 eV were obtained at normal incidence for the non specular beams and for the specular beams at incidence angles from 4° to 20° on the 0° and 45° azimuths of (001), on the 0° and 90° azimuths of (110), and on the 0° azimuth of (111) nickel. Normalization of the data was performed electronically during data acquisition. Intensities were calibrated with the use of a shielded, biased Faraday collector. The effects of instrumental and experimental uncertainties were examined and minimized to obtain intensities accurate to ± 15 %, energy scales accurate to ± 0.35 eV, and incident and azimuthal angles accurate to ± 0.25° and ± 1.0° respectively.All nickel surfaces have I-E spectra which are characteristic of strong multiple scattering. Angular evolution features for (001) and (110) spectra may be correlated with intraplanar resonances associated with the onset of propagating beams. Only the (001) surfaces were found to have pronounced, sharp resonance features associated with surface barrier resonances and inelastic loss processes. Kinematic analysis of the Lorenzian-shaped I-E peaks on all surfaces in consistent with surface expansion using either an energy-dependent or a constant inner potential of 10.75 ± 0.5 eV. The widths of these same peaks on all surfaces were found to vary as E12 above 40 eV and E13 below.  相似文献

This paper uses the momentum--space optical potential method to calculate the e--H2O scattering elastic cross sections at the energy range from 6 eV to 50 eV, and the differential cross sections in the angle from 0° to 180° at 40 eV and 50 eV. The polarisation is taken into account via an emphab initio equivalent-local potential. The cross sections are compared with experimental measurements and other theoretical calculations.  相似文献

The refraction angles θ d of electron beams passing through aluminum and thin flat copper foils and reflection angles θ r are measured. A microtron with 7.4 MeV particles is used as a source of electrons. The angle between the particle trajectory and the target surface α is varied in the range 5°–30°. The dependences of the refraction and reflection angles on the α angle and foil thickness δ are measured. A dosimetric film is used to make pictures of cross sections of the electron beam scattered by a thin 50 μm copper foil. Image processing allows the spatial distributions of refracted and reflected particles to be obtained. The processes of relativistic electron scattering at a small angle of incidence on a flat target are simulated by the Monte Carlo method. The results of simulation are compared with experimental data. Particle scattering at a bimetallic target consisting of 200-μm aluminum and 70-μm lead layers are simulated. A dependence of the spatial-energy distributions on the order of metal layers placed along electron trajectories is found.  相似文献

 软X光多层镜反射率标定实验在北京同步辐射装置 上进行,利用BSRF-3W1B 束线及其反射率计靶室(主靶室)标定不同材料的多层镜样品的反射率。多层镜的标定采用波长扫描法,以得到样品反射率随波长变化的曲线。给出了21°-B4C/Si,21°-B4C/Mo,10°-Cr/Ti,15°- B4C/W,10°- B4C/W以及6.86°-B4C/W等6块多层镜在50~1 500 eV能段上的反射率标定曲线,并将其与理论计算结果进行比较。结果表明:标定曲线与理论曲线很好地符合。影响标定结果的总不确定度的主要因素是光子能量不确定度,其次是角度不确定度,测量不确定度的影响很小。  相似文献

The cross beam method was used to measure double differential ionization cross sections for electron production by 200–500 keV protons incident on a molecular beam. The ejected secondary electrons were detected by an electron multiplier and an electrostatic 90 °-spectrometer which was movable in the scattering chamber from 18 °–155 ° with respect to the incident proton direction. After the elimination of disturbing electric and magnetic fields, electrons were measured at energies down to 1 eV. The absorption of the very slow electrons along their path through the spectrometer could be minimized by using a relatively low gas pressure in the scattering chamber of a few 10?5 Torr. The efficiency of the electron detector was determined with an electron source whose emission rate per solid angle was known. Absolute cross sections and their angular dependence were obtained by measuring the slow electrons—ejected with a relatively high rate—without the molecular beam; these data being used to normalize the electron spectra acquired with the molecular beam. Ionization cross sections with 300 keV protons incident on helium are discussed and except for the very slow electrons, a good agreement is found with results of Ruddet al.  相似文献

Measurements of the surface Debye temperature for the (110) nickel face were performed in such a manner that difficulties in the interpretation known from the literature seem to have been avoided. A specular beam could reach a fluorescent screen for incidence angles 30° < β < 70°. A strong (00) beam was observed for (β ≈ 60° and electron energy E = 100–110 eV. For this beam, the dependence of its intensity on the sample temperature was measured and the effective Debye temperature was calculated to be equal to not more than 216 ± 10 K. Owing to the large β, the penetration depth of electrons should be equal to about 1.2 Å and only the first layer of atoms is responsible for diffraction in this case. Besides, it is shown that single scattering processes are dominant in our experimental conditions. So, the effective Debye temperature measured should be very close to the surface Debye temperature.  相似文献

A system for the electron and photon therapy has been designed and developed at SAMEER, IITB, Mumbai. All the components of the system such as the 270° beam bending electromagnet, trim coils, magnet chamber, electron scattering foil, slits, applicators, etc., were designed and fabricated indigenously. The electrons of 6, 8, 9, 12, 15 and 18?MeV energies were provided by a linear accelerator, indigenously designed and made at SAMEER, IITB campus, Mumbai. The electron beam from the LINAC enters the magnet chamber horizontally, and after deflection and focusing in the 270° bending magnet, comes out of the exit port, and travels a straight path vertically down. After passing through the beryllium and tantalum scattering foils, the electron beam gets scattered and turns into a solid cone shape such that the diameter increases with the travel distance. The simulation results indicate that at the exit port of the 270° beam bending magnet, the electron beam has a divergence angle of ≤ 3?mrad and diameter ~2–3?mm, and remains constant over 6–18?MeV. Normally, 6–18?MeV electrons are used for the electron therapy of skin and malignant cancer near the skin surface. On a plane at a distance of 100?cm from the scattering foils, the size of the electron beam could be varied from 10?cm?×?10?cm to 25?cm?×?25?cm using suitable applicators and slits. Different types of applicators were therefore designed and fabricated to provide required beam profile and dose of electrons to a patient. The 6?MeV cyclic electron accelerator called Race-Track Microtron of S. P. Pune University, Pune, was extensively used for studying the performances of the scattering foils, electron beam uniformity and radiation dose measurement. Different types of thermoluminescent dosimetry dosimeters were developed to measure dose in the range of 1–10kGy.  相似文献

The validity of the binary collision approximation for describing the scattering of low energy Ar ions from a polycrystalline Cu surface was investigated. The Ar ions were incident upon the target surface at an angle of 45° (with respect of the plane of the surface). The range of primary ion energy studied was 1000–25 eV. An ultra-high vacuum magnetic sector mass spectrometer was used to analyze those secondary ions emitted from the specimen surface at an angle of 90° with respect to the primary ion beam. The scattered ions were identified and their energies measured. No significant deviation from the prediction of the binary collision model was found throughout the range of energy studied.  相似文献

It is shown theoretically and corroborated experimentally that multiple-scattering resonances in monolayers of atoms can produce large effects in LEED beam intensities near thresholds of diffracted-beam emergence. Scattering in many orders of partial waves is taken into account. The effects are confined by inelastic-collision damping in the valence-electron gas to energies below ~200 eV, and to within ~0.5 Å?1 of points of high order of rotational symmetry in the two-dimensional Brillouin zone (at which several beams can emerge simultaneously).To facilitate experimental corroboration, a method is developed which isolates monolayer-scattering effects from competing effects due to scattering between layers of atoms and to occasional atomic-scattering resonances. Variation of a diffracted-beam intensity on account of these extraneous mechanisms can be largely avoided along trajectories of the primary-beam wave vector which (a) lie along lines of constant diffraction vector close to their points of tangency to arcs of constant energy, and which also lie within qualitative boundaries such that (b) energy is greater than very approximately 70 eV and (c) the combined angular deviation of the incident and diffracted beams from the normal to the surface is small. Such trajectories are roughly perpendicular to the commonly chosen line of increasing energy at normal incidence.Recognition of monolayer-scattering effects is aided by development of a very simple and approximate calculation within the qualitative boundaries set by conditions (b) and (c). Finally, experimental corroboration is obtained in accordance with diffraction conditions (a), (b) and (c) in LEED intensities from Re(0001) (Z=75). For this surface the lower limit of energy in condition (b) is 50 eV and the upper limit of the combined angular deviation in (c) is 30°.  相似文献

Differential cross-sections (DCSs) for elastic scattering of electrons from tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol (THFA), which can be considered as an analogue molecule to DNA sugar deoxyribose, were determined using crossed beam measurements for incident energies from 40 eV to 300 eV and scattering angles from 30° to 110°. The relative DCSs were measured both as a function of incident electron energy and scattering angle, allowing absolute calibration of the whole data set via normalization to a single point. The absolute calibration has been performed according to calculated absolute DCSs obtained by the corrected independent atom method using an improved quasifree absorption model. The calculated data-set includes DCSs and integral elastic and inelastic cross-sections in the incident energy range from 5 eV to 5000 eV. The theoretical results agree very well with the experimental ones, regarding the shape of DCSs. Moreover, the same theoretical procedure has been used to obtain DCSs for elastic electron scattering from a simpler deoxyribose analogue tetrahydrofuran (THF), which agree very well, both in shape and on the absolute scale, with the recent experimentally obtained absolute DCSs [A.R. Milosavljević et al., Eur. Phys. J. D 35, 411 (2005)]. The present results are also compared with the recent theoretical data for THF and THFA. Finally, according to both experimental and theoretical data, the DCSs for elastic electron scattering from THFA and THF molecules appear to be very similar both in shape and absolute scale.  相似文献
