Vector approach often benefits optical engineers and physicists, and a vector formulation of the laws of reflection and refraction has been studied (Tkaczyk, 2012). However, the conventional reflection and refraction laws may be violated in the presence of a metasurface, and reflection and refraction at the metasurface obey generalized laws of reflection and refraction (Yu et al., 2011). In this letter, the vectorial laws of reflection and refraction at the metasurface were derived, and the matrix formulation of these vectorial laws are also obtained. These results enable highly efficient and unambiguous computations in ray-tracing problems that involve a metasurface.  相似文献

含气泡海洋沉积物的声学特性是海底探测的重要问题。为了研究气泡存在对水-含气沉积物界面声反射系数的影响,本文基于气泡振动修正的Biot波动方程推导了气泡存在修正的Biot弹性模量,并结合水-沉积物界面的“开孔”边界条件推导了声波从水入射到水-含气沉积物界面的反射系数。数值分析表明气泡的振动导致反射系数呈现显著的频率特性。在气泡共振频率附近,由于气泡的共振引发的强散射和强衰减,使得反射系数很大,无论以何种角度入射,声波都很难进入含气泡的沉积物。本文研究结果表明,气泡半径、含量、声波频率以及入射角度都是影响水-含气沉积物界面反射系数的主要因素。   相似文献

We consider the interaction of a polarized electromagnetic wave in a magnetically ordered crystal plate surrounded by an isotropic ambient at the normal incidence. The crystalline medium of the plate is specified by the general non-symmetric permittivity tensor. The results are expressed in terms of the transmission and reflection matrices which relate the electric fields of the incident wave to those of transmitted and reflected waves. Their applications are illustrated by examples of an isotropic plate magnetized normal to the interface, a cubic crystal magnetized parallel to the interface and an orthorhombic crystal magnetized along the axis normal to the interface. The effect of the reflection from the interfaces and the interference effect are included. The paper treats the reflection at an interface between an isotropic ambient and an absorbing magnetic crystal at small non-zero angles of incidence. The general reflection matrix is applied to the determination of the magneto-optical effects quadratic in magnetization.  相似文献

We derive and evaluate boundary states for Maxwell’s equations, the linear, and the nonlinear Euler gas-dynamics equations to compute wave reflection from moving boundaries. In this study we use a Discontinuous Galerkin Spectral Element method (DGSEM) with Arbitrary Lagrangian–Eulerian (ALE) mapping for the spatial approximation, but the boundary states can be used with other methods, like finite volume schemes. We present four studies using Maxwell’s equations, one for the linear Euler equations, and one more for the nonlinear Euler equations. These are: reflection of light from a plane mirror moving at constant velocity, reflection of light from a moving cylinder, reflection of light from a vibrating mirror, reflection of sound from a plane wall and dipole sound generation by an oscillating cylinder in an inviscid flow. The studies show that the boundary states preserve spectral convergence in the solution and in derived quantities like divergence and vorticity.  相似文献

The reflection and transmission of Lamb waves at overlap joints are researched by the numerical method and the experiments. The numerical method is used to simulate the reflection and transmission of Lamb waves at welds with different widths on 2 mm-thick stainless steel plates. The reflection and transmission coefficients are calculated as well. When the welds width is less than 4 mm, a quasi-linear correlation is observed between the reflection coefficient of SO mode and the weld width. In contrast to the weld width, both the gap between two plates and the reinforcement height of weld do not have obvious effect on the reflection coefficient. Based on the results, we propose that the weld width could be rapidly measured through examining the echo amplitude of SO mode. Experiments further confirm the quasilinear correlation and the feasibility of our proposed method.  相似文献

We report coherent reflection of thermal He atom beams from various microscopically rough surfaces at grazing incidence. For a sufficiently small normal component k(z) of the incident wave vector of the atom the reflection probability is found to be a function of k(z) only. This behavior is explained by quantum reflection at the attractive branch of the Casimir-van der Waals interaction potential. For larger values of k(z) the overall reflection probability decreases rapidly and is found to also depend on the parallel component k(x) of the wave vector. The material specific k(x) dependence for this classic reflection at the repulsive branch of the potential is discussed in terms of an averaging out of the surface roughness under grazing incidence conditions.  相似文献

Comparing measurements of high-frequency phonon reflection at the uncovered and optically polished (100)-silicon surface, with calculations considering phonon focusing, reveal complete diffusive scattering with at most 4% specular reflection contribution. X-ray diffraction on different atomic planes of an AT-cut quartz crystal is studied experimentally in the Laue geometry in case of excitation by acoustic waves at the first resonant (fundamental) frequency. Acoustic waves lead to an increase in the integral intensity of the reflection-diffracted beam. The amplification coefficients in reflection are measured in dependence on the amplitude of a.c. voltage applied to the crystal at the resonant frequency. The frontal distributions of the intensity of the beam diffracted in the reflection direction are obtained for different atomic planes.  相似文献

利用平板波导法研究了不同入射角度下周期排列开口谐振环负磁导率材料、周期排列金属杆负介电常数材料以及左手材料微波反射特性,并利用劈尖法研究了左手材料的负折射特性.实验结果表明:负磁导率材料反射率曲线形成反射峰,其对应的反射峰频率与材料的谐振频率一致;负介电常数材料反射率接近0dB;左手材料出现单个反射较小的反射峰,其峰值反射率随入射角度的增大而变大,即反射能力增强,且反射峰与透射峰有相对频移.劈尖法测量还表明,左手材料在9800MHz频率附近出现负折射现象,其折射率n为-0.796. 关键词: 左手材料 反射 负折射率  相似文献

Reflection of structural waves at a solid/liquid interface   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
This paper investigates the reflection characteristics of structural or guided waves in rods at a solid/liquid interface. Structural waves, whose wavelengths are much larger than the diameter of the rod, are described in a first approximation by classical one-dimensional wave theory. The reflection characteristics of such waves at a solid/liquid (melting) interface has been reported by two different ultrasonic measurement techniques: first, measuring the fast regression rate of a melting interface during the burning of metal rod samples in an oxygen-enriched environment, and second, monitoring the propagation of the solid/liquid interface during the slow melting and solidification of a rod sample in a furnace. The second work clearly shows that the major reflection occurs from the solid/liquid interface and not the liquid/gas interface as predicted by plane longitudinal wave reflectivity theory. The present work confirms this observation by reporting on the results of some specially designed experiments to identify the main interface of reflection for structural waves in rods. Hence, it helps in explaining the fundamental discrepancy between the reflection characteristics at a solid/liquid interface between low frequency structural waves and high frequency bulk waves, and confirms that the detected echo within a burning metallic rod clearly represents a reflection from the solid/liquid interface.  相似文献

采用数值模拟方法和实验研究了兰姆波在搭接焊缝上的反射和透射。数值模拟了频率500 kHz的兰姆波S0与.A0模态,分别在2 mm厚不锈钢板上的不同宽度搭接焊缝模型上的反射和透射,并计算了相应的反射系数和透射系数。发现:当搭接焊缝宽度小于4 mm时,S0模态的反射系数和焊缝宽度具有近似的线性关系,而焊缝余高和两板之间的间隙对S0模态反射系数的影响很小。基于兰姆波S0模态反射系数与焊缝宽度的线性关系。提出了通过测量S0模态反射系数快速测量搭接焊缝宽度的方法。实验测得的2 mm厚不锈钢板上不同宽度搭接焊缝对500 kHz的入射兰姆波S0模态的反射系数,验证了上述线性关系,说明了可用兰姆波反射回波测量搭接焊缝宽度。   相似文献

We address the reflection of vector solitons, comprising several components that exhibit multiple field oscillations, at the interface between two nonlinear media. We reveal that reflection causes fission of the input signal into sets of solitons propagating at different angles. We find that the maximum number of solitons that arises upon fission is given by the number of field oscillations in the highest-order input vector soliton.  相似文献

Characteristics of nonlinear optical phenomena in reflection of light at the interface with photorfractive crystals having photovoltaic nonlinearity are studied. it is shown that under total reflection, hysteretic behavior of the reflection coefficient is possible as a function of the incident radiation intensity or the angle of incidence. It is important that previously required threshold intensities are rather low (≤1 W/cm2) in comparison with the known case of reflection from media with Kerr nonlinearity. The present results are of doubtless interest in view of the development of possible devices for controlling laser radiation. Millimeter waves is expected to be used for indoor broadband wireless access for its rich frequency spectrum resources. To implement the indoor MMW wireless system, it is important to know its propagation characteristics in building, which are governed by the transmission properties of construction materials. This paper focuses on the measurements of reflection characteristics and refractive indices of some interior construction materials (such as glass, brick, plasterboard, silencing board, etc.) at Ka–band. The free–space reflection method was used to measure the reflection and transmission coefficients. Then the complex refractive indices of various materials could be calculated by using the Fresnel's formula.  相似文献

The effects of ion focusing and blocking on surface scattering at a grazing angle is investigated by computer simulation, where primary ions are bombarded along the semichannel direction. We report experimental evidence of soliton reflection at the boundary of quadratic nonlinear media. The evolution of beams incident upon the interface of periodically poled LiNbO3 and uniform LiNbO3 is considered; in the whole device the linear refractive index is homogeneous. Linear beam transmission and soliton reflection at the nonlinear phase-mismatched boundary were observed. Numerical simulations that correspond to the experiments are also presented.  相似文献

For practical-purpose studies in underwater acoustics, a new method is proposed to determine the bottom reflection coefficient on the basis of multiple bottom-surface reflections. The method allows one to obtain the angular dependence of the bottom reflection coefficient at grazing angles from several degrees to several tens of degrees in the audio and infrasonic frequency bands. The sound field structure is studied in deep-water regions of the Black (2000 m) and Arabian (4000 m) seas at frequencies within 10–400 Hz. For the regions under investigation, the frequency-angular dependence of the reflection coefficient is obtained with the use of the proposed method. The data for the Black Sea are compared with those provided by the conventional method based on the use of single and double bottom and bottom-surface reflections. Experimental data on the values and variations of the bottom reflection coefficient are presented for different deepwater and shallow-water regions of the World Ocean. The presence of shear waves in the bottom sediments is revealed, and the effect of these waves on the frequency-angular dependence of the reflection coefficient is demonstrated.  相似文献
