This work presents experimental results concerning an actively Q-switched intracavity frequency-doubled Nd:LuVO4/LBO green laser with an acousto-optic modulator operated at the wavelength of 0.53 μm. The green average output power of 2.8 W was obtained at a pump power of 16.3 W and a pulse repetition rate of 20 kHz, resulting in an optical conversion efficiency of 17%. When the pulse repetition rate is operated at 5 kHz, the shortest pulse width and the highest peak power at 0.53 μm were measured to be 26.5 ns and 8.43 kW, respectively.  相似文献

Passively Q-switched green output with Cr4+:YAG as saturable absorber and PPMgLN as the frequency doubling crystal was realized in a compact diode end-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser. The green light output power, pulse width, pulse repetition rate, pulse energy and peak power with three Cr4+:YAG of different initial transmissions were investigated. The maximum average output power was 1.2 W at the pump power of 4.0 W and the maximum conversion efficiency was 30% with the Cr4+:YAG of 90% initial transmission. The maximum pulse energy and minimum pulse width were 10.9 μJ and 12 ns with the Cr4+:YAG of 75% initial transmission.  相似文献

A diode-pumped passively Q-switched mode-locked (QML) intracavity frequency-doubled Nd:GdVO4/KTP green laser with a semiconductor saturable absorber is presented. Nearly 100% modulation depth for the mode-locked green pulses can be achieved at any pump power over 1.92 W. The width of the mode-locked green pulse was estimated to be about 150 ps. The mode-locked pulse interval within the Q-switched envelope of 320 ns and the repetition rate of 97.5 kHz were obtained, at an incident pump power of 4.4 W. The repetition rate of the mode-locked green pulses inside the Q-switched envelope was 140 MHz.  相似文献

A diode-pumped actively Q-switched Nd:GdVO4 green laser with periodically poled KTP (PPKTP) and Acoustic-optic (AO) modulator has been realized. The dependences of pulse energy, pulse width, and peak power on incident pump power are measured. At the pump power of 4.1 W and repetition rate of 10 kHZ, we can obtain a 19.2 ns pulse with pulse energy of 0.11 mJ and peak power of 5.8 kW, which are almost three times of that in the conventional KTP green laser, respectively. A rate equation model is introduced to theoretically analyze the results obtained in the experiment, in which the Gaussian spatial distribution of the intracavity photon density is taken into account. The numerical solutions of the rate equations agree with the experimental results.  相似文献

A compact diode-pumped doubly Q-switched extracavity frequency-doubled Nd:YVO4/KTP green-pulse laser was demonstrated, using both an acoustic-optic (AO) modulator and a GaAs saturable absorber in a simple flat-flat cavity. The green laser can generate a more symmetric and shorter pulse when compared with purely AO and passively Q-switched lasers. A peak power of 7.54 kW with the corresponding pulse width of 3.2 ns has been achieved with the incident pump power of 7.76 W and f p = 15 kHz. A reasonable analysis about the experimental results has been given.  相似文献

Simultaneous Q-switching and mode locking in a laser-diode end-pumped intracavity frequency-doubled Nd:YVO4/KTP green laser using a Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber with 81% initial transmission is experimentally demonstrated. At an incident pump power of 6 W, 300 mW of average green power was obtained, which is around four times higher than the cw green power obtained without the Cr4+:YAG crystal. The repetition rate of the mode-locked green pulses was 400 MHz and the individual mode-locked pulse width was measured to be 500 ps. The repetition rate of the Q-sw itched envelope of the mode-locked pulses was 15 kHz at 6 W of incident pump power. The energy of the mode-locked pulse at the peak of the Q-sw itched envelope was estimated to be 1 J and the peak power was estimated to be 2.4 kW. The measured width and the total energy of the Q-sw itched envelope of the mode-locked pulses was 47 ns and 21 J, respectively, at the maximum incident pump power. An analysis of the system by incorporating a nonlinear loss term due to the intracavity second-harmonic generation to the general recurrence relation for the mode-locked pulses under the Q-sw itched envelope at the fundamental wavelength has been presented. Using a hyperbolic secant square function to model the mode-locked pulse, the temporal shape of a single Q-sw itched pulse at the second-harmonic wavelength has been reconstructed. The theoretical calculations of the pulse parameters like pulse energy, peak power, pulse width and pulse-symmetry factor have shown fairly good agreement with the experimental results. By using a-cut Nd:Lu0.15Y0.85VO4 mixed crystal as laser gain medium, a diode-pumped passively Q-switched and mode-locked (QML) laser with a GaAs saturable absorber in a Z-type folded cavity is demonstrated for the first time. The Q-switched mode-locked laser pulses with about 90% modulation depth are obtained as long as the pump power reached the oscillation threshold. The repetition rate of the passively Q-switched pulse envelope ranges from 50 to 186 kHz as the pump power increases from 0.915 to 6.520 W. Under an incident pump power of 6.52 W, the QML pulses with the largest average output power of 694 mW, the shortest pulse width of 200 ns and the highest pulse energy of 3.73 μJ are obtained. The mode-locked pulse width inside the Q-switched envelope is estimated to be about 275 ps. The experimental results show that Nd:Lu0.15Y0.85VO4 is a promising mixed crystal for QML laser.  相似文献

A diode-pumped passively Q-switched Nd:Lu0.15Y0.85VO4 laser with a GaAs output coupler is demonstrated. By using a mixed crystal Nd:Lu0.15Y0.85VO4 as laser medium, the passively Q-switched laser can generate shorter pulse width with higher peak power in comparison with the passively Q-switched Nd:LuVO4 or Nd:YVO4 lasers under the same laser cavity. At the incident pump power 11.9 W, the minimum pulse width of 3.23 ns and the maximum peak power 1.67 kW can be obtained. The average output power and the pulse repetition rate of the laser are also measured. The experimental results show that the mixed crystal is a promising laser medium for shorter Q-switched pulse with higher peak power.  相似文献

A diode pumped Nd:Y0.5Lu0.5VO4 pulse laser modulated with an acousto-optic (AO) Q-switcher and Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber is first demonstrated in this paper. The laser is shown to generate shorter pulse width than AO Q-switched laser alone, and have a higher peak power and single pulse energy than passively Q-switched laser with only Cr4+:YAG. A laser pulse width of 6.16 ns and a peak power of about 43.83 kW are achieved at the incident pumping power of 14.09 W.  相似文献

We report a green laser at 532 nm generation by intracavity frequency doubling of a continuous wave (CW) laser operation of a 1064 nm Nd:Y0.36Gd0.64VO4 laser under in-band diode pumping at 880 nm. An GdCa4O(BO3)3 (GdCOB) crystal, cut for critical type I phase matching at room temperature is used for second harmonic generation of the laser. At an incident pump power of 17.8 W, as high as 2.92 W of CW output power at 532 nm is achieved. The optical-to-optical conversion efficiency is up to 16.4%, and the fluctuation of the green output power was better than 2.5% in the given 30 min.  相似文献

A diode-pumped passively mode-locked low-doped Nd:YVO4 green laser with a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM) and an intracavity frequency-doubling KTP crystal is demonstrated. In order to efficiently release the thermal effect, a low-doped Nd:YVO4 crystal with the Nd3+ concentration of 0.1 at % is employed as the gain medium. The maximum average output power of 3.1 W at 532 nm with a repetition rate of 102 MHz is obtained under the pump power of 25 W, corresponding to an optical conversion efficiency of 12.4%. The 532 nm mode locked pulse width is estimated to be approximately 6.1 ps.  相似文献

High pulse amplitude stability of 0.62% (rms) is achieved at 60 kHz repetition rate in fundamental mode with double-end continuous-grown YVO4/Nd:YVO4/YVO4 composite crystal. The average output power and pulse peak power are 32.9 W and 27.7 kW, respectively, with 19.8 ns pulse width and 548 μJ pulse energy. The pulse amplitude stability is investigated experimentally. The stability gets improved with the decrease of repetition rate and output transmission. From theoretical analysis, the reason of pulse instability at high repetition rates is that the initial population inversion doesn’t saturate and the final population inversion doesn’t approach zero. With the decrease of repetition rate and output transmission, the final population inversion decreases and the interaction between two adjacent pulse periods is weakened. Therefore, pulse stability improves.  相似文献

Performance comparisons of laser-diode pumped passively Q-switched intracavity-frequency-doubled Nd:Gd0.19Y0.81VO4 and Nd:Gd0.83Y0.17VO4 lasers at 671 nm are demonstrated for the first time to our knowledge. KTP crystal is used as the frequency doubling material and V:YAG crystal as the saturable absorber with initial transmission of 89%. The dependences of average output power, pulse width, pulse repetition rate, single-pulse energy and peak power on incident pump power are measured and contrasted. The experimental results show that, Nd:Gd0.83Y0.17VO4 laser has more excellent properties than Nd:Gd0.19Y0.81VO4 laser at 671 nm.  相似文献

We experimentally demonstrated a high-efficiency passively Q-switched Yb:CaYAlO4 (Yb:CYA) laser based on a semiconductor-saturable absorber mirror (SESAM), and the output characteristics of the laser including the average output power, repetition frequency, pulse duration, pulse energy and pulse peak power were investigated by adopting output mirrors with different transmittances. When the transmittance of the output mirror was 5% and the pump power was set at about 7.76 W, a maximum average output power of as high as 2.480 W was achieved with a slope efficiency and light-to-light efficiency of the Q-switched Yb:CYA laser of up to 37.1% and 31.2%, respectively.  相似文献

We report on an 880 nm LD pumped passive mode-locked TEM00 Nd:YVO4 laser based on a semiconductor saturable absorber mirror (SESAM), with a high optical-to-optical conversion efficiency of 67.3%, and a slope efficiency of 71%. When the absorbed pump power was 11 W, 7.4 W average output power of 1064 nm continuous-wave mode-locked laser was achieved. To our knowledge, this is the highest optical-to-optical conversion efficiency among all the published reports of 880 nm LD pumped SESAM passive mode-locked lasers. The repetition rate of mode-locked pulse was 80 MHz with 26 ps pulse width. The maximum pulse energy and peak power were 92.5 nJ and 3.6 kW, respectively.  相似文献

A diode-pumped dual-loss-modulated Q-switched and mode-locked (QML) Nd:Lu0.15Y0.85VO4 laser with acousto-optic (AO) modulator and Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber is presented. The stable QML laser pulse with high peak power and complete modulation depth has been obtained. The QML laser characteristics such as the pulse width, single-pulse energy etc. have been measured for different small-signal transmissions (T 0) of Cr4+:YAG, different reflectivity (R) of output coupler and modulation frequencies of the AO modulator (f p ). The results show that the pulse energy increases with decreasing f p and increasing T 0, while the pulse width decreases with decreasing f p and increasing T 0. At f p = 10 kHz, R = 90%, and T 0 = 91%, the highest pulse energy and peak power of mode-locked pulses is obtained.  相似文献
