Any unitary irreducible representation π of a Lie group G defines a moment set Iπ, subset of the dual g? of the Lie algebra of G. Unfortunately, Iπ does not characterize π. If G is exponential, there exists an overgroup G+ of G, built using real-analytic functions on g?, and extensions π+ of any generic representation π to G+ such that Iπ+ characterizes π.In this paper, we prove that, for many different classes of group G, G admits a quadratic overgroup: such an overgroup is built with the only use of linear and quadratic functions.  相似文献

A (k;g)‐cage is a k‐regular graph with girth g and with the least possible number of vertices. In this paper, we prove that (k;g)‐cages are k‐edge‐connected if g is even. Earlier, Wang, Xu, and Wang proved that (k;g)‐cages are k‐edge‐connected if g is odd. Combining our results, we conclude that the (k;g)‐cages are k‐edge‐connected. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this note, we show that given a closed, orientable genus-g surface S g , any hyperbolic toral automorphism has a positive power which induces a quadratic, orientable pseudo-Anosov homeomorphism on S g . To show this, we lift Anosov toral automorphisms through a ramified topological covering and present the lifted homeomorphism via a standard set of Lickorish twists. This construction provides a general method of producing pseudo-Anosov maps of closed surfaces with predetermined orientable foliations and quadratic dilatation. Since these lifted automorphisms have orientable foliations, this construction is a sort of converse to that of Franks and Rykken [Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 1999], who established that one can associate to a quadratic pseudo-Anosov homeomorphism with oriented unstable foliation a hyperbolic toral automorphism.  相似文献

The estimation of the location parameter of an ℓ1-symmetric distribution is considered. Specifically when a p-dimensional random vector has a distribution that is a mixture of uniform distributions on the ℓ1-sphere, we investigate a general class of estimators of the form δ=X+g. Under the usual quadratic loss, domination of δ over X is obtained through the partial differential inequality 4 div g+2X2g+ g20 and a new superharmonicity-type-like notion adapted to the ℓ1-context. Specifically the condition of ℓ1-superharmonicity is that 2Δf+X 3f0 and div 3f0 as compared to the usual (ℓ2) condition Δf0.  相似文献

Generalized Steiner systems GS(2, k, v, g) were first introduced by Etzion and used to construct optimal constant weight codes over an alphabet of size g + 1 with minimum Hamming distance 2k ? 3, in which each codeword has length v and weight k. As to the existence of a GS(2, k, v, g), a lot of work has been done for k = 3, while not so much is known for k = 4. The notion k‐*GDD was first introduced and used to construct GS(2, 3, v, 6). In this paper, singular indirect product (SIP) construction for GDDs is modified to construct GS(2, 4, v, g) via 4‐*GDDs. Furthermore, it is proved that the necessary conditions for the existence of a 4‐*GDD(3n), namely, n ≡ 0, 1 (mod 4) and n ≥ 8 are also sufficient. The known results on the existence of a GS(2, 4, v, 3) are then extended. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Let G be a multigraph, g and f be integer-valued functions defined on V(G). Then a graph G is called a (g, f)-graph if g(x)≤deg G(x)≤f(x) for each xV(G), and a (g, f)-factor is a spanning (g, f)-subgraph. If the edges of graph G can be decomposed into (g, f)-factors, then we say that G is (g, f)-factorable. In this paper, we obtained some sufficient conditions for a graph to be (g, f)-factorable. One of them is the following: Let m be a positive integer, l be an integer with l=m (mod 4) and 0≤l≤3. If G is an -graph, then G is (g, f)-factorable. Let $G$ be a connected and simply connected Lie group with Lie algebra $\mathfrak g $ . We say that a subset $X$ in the set $\mathfrak g ^\star / G$ of coadjoint orbits is convex hull separable when the convex hulls differ for any pair of distinct coadjoint orbits in $X$ . In this paper, we define a class of solvable Lie groups, and we give an explicit construction of an overgroup $G^+$ and a quadratic map $\varphi $ sending each generic orbit in $\mathfrak g ^\star $ to a $G^+$ -orbit in $\mathfrak{g ^+}^\star $ , in such a manner that the set $\varphi (\mathfrak g ^\star _{gen}){/ G^+}$ is convex hull separable. We then call $G^+$ a weak quadratic overgroup for $G$ . Thanks to this construction, we prove that any nilpotent Lie group, with dimension at most 7 admits such a weak quadratic overgroup. Finally, we produce different examples of solvable Lie groups, having weak quadratic overgroups, but which are not in our class of Lie groups and for which usual constructions fail to hold.  相似文献

Summary We address the question of how fast the available rational torsion on abelian varieties over increases with dimension. The emphasis will be on the derivation of sequences of torsion divisors on hyperelliptic curves. Work of Hellegouarch and Lozach (and Klein) may be made explicit to provide sequences of curves with rational torsion divisors of orders increasing linearly with respect to genus. The main results in §2) are applications of a new technique which provide sequences of hyperelliptic curves for all torsions in an interval [a g ,a g +b g ]] wherea g is quadratic ing andb g is linear ing. As well as providing an improvement from linear to quadratic, these results provide a wide selection of torsion orders for potential use by those involved in computer integration. We conclude by considering possible techniques for divisors of non-hyperelliptic curves, and for general abelian varieties.  相似文献

In this paper, the necessary conditions for the existence of a GSd(t, k, v, g) are given, which answers an open problem of Etzion. Some singular indirect product constructions for GSd(2, k, v, g) are also presented. Let G be a bipartite graph and g and f be two positive integer-valued functions defined on vertex set V(G) of G such that g(x)≤f(x). We prove that any Lie algebra g over a field K of characteristic zero admitting a unique up to a constant quadratic structure is necessarily a simple Lie algebra. If the field K is algebraically closed, such condition is also sufficient.

Let v, k be positive integers and k ≥ 3, then Kk = : {v: vk} is a 3‐BD closed set. Two finite generating sets of 3‐BD closed sets K4 and K5 are obtained by H. Hanani [5] and Qiurong Wu [12] respectively. In this article we show that if v ≥ 6, then vB3(K,1), where K = {6,7,…,41,45,46,47,51,52,53,83,84}\{22,26}; that is, we show that K is a generating set for K6. Abstract Let X be a non–hyperelliptic curve of genus g which is a double covering of a hyperelliptic curve C of genus h. In this paper, we prove that, if h≥ 3 and g≥ 4h+5, then X admits a complete, base point free g1g–2. Moreover, if h=3, this result holds under the mild condition g≥ 4h+3=15. As a consequence, the existence spectrum of a cyclic (3, λ)-GDD of type g v without short orbits is determined.
